I love their Chicken Panang Curry with garlic rice — delish!

Came here on a Friday night for a later dinner around 8:15 and boy was it packed! This place was pretty small but we we’re seated pretty quick. Food: My friend and I ordered the Pad See Ew, Panag Curry, and Chicken Satay. The flavor for the Panang Curry was on point, however, the spice needed to be kicked up like 5 noches. I didn’t even realize until writing this that the waitress didn’t even asked how spicy we want it, which is always asked at Thai places! So maybe we should have pointed that out to her. The curry was good, but I was surprised that all that was in it was just the meat in this curry, but I guess that is the traditional way of serving it. Chicken Satay was good, although I was surprised that the peanut sauce wasn’t on the chicken skewers, but were served in a separate dipping bowl. Didn’t bother me much but, just thought I’d point that out. Chicken was ok, kind of dry and chewy, but the sauce was good. Couldn’t go wrong with the Pad See Ew, but I felt like I did not enjoy it as much because it came out about 30 minutes after our first dish, so we we’re pretty full by then. Overall, this was a good place but they need more help. Took a bunch of tries to get the waitresses attention since she was doing like a million things at once(and she got our order wrong once). Felt bad trying to get her attention because she looked so stressed! Find her help jeeze! I’d come back if I am in the area again(maybe take-out), but I wouldn’t go out of my way. Parking: Lot in back, or street parking(free after 8pm) Ambiance: Tiny! but intimate, a little smokey from the kitchen being so close. The good: wide variety of items on the menu, authentic The bad: SUPER slow service, very understaffed Tip: Come when you’re not in a rush, or do take out.

The food itself deserves 5 stars. However anytime I’ve ordered for delivery from eat24 it always takes about an hour and 15 minutes Yesterday I decided it would be quicker to pick up. I ordered at 8pm and didn’t have my food until 9:15pm. It should not take this long. The poor girl working had a restaurant full of people waiting to order/get their tables cleared/pay their checks. The phone was ringing off the hook and there was 5 groups of people waiting to be seated. I stood for 30 minutes waiting for my food. This isn’t a good way to do business. Please hire more staff.

Another lunch spot I’m trying out for the first time. I had a craving for Thai food and did some research on Unilocal. So glad I came across this place. I ordered beef broccoli and shrimp stix(appetizers) and Thai iced tea. My only complaint is the beef broccoli didn’t come with rice, but it was my fault for not calling and looking over the menu carefully. I ordered from the Eat24 App again which is very convenient and helpful. Overall the food was really good. I’ll order from here again. I’ll be more prepared before ordering, for sure.

The food is delicious, the waitresses are nice, there’s never a long wait, and they are reasonably priced. I’ve been here a few times tried several dishes and I have not been disappointed at all. I’ve also done take out and they are prompt. Sometimes thai restaurants are missing specific food items but they have thai coconuts as well as sticky rice! I highly recommend this place!

Restaurant was near empty on a Monday night, one order of pad Thai took 25 mins, and was over charged, and was told I had to pay for peanut sauce. Would not recommend this place

I found Kao café via Unilocal as I usually find places. I went in to put in a catering order for about 20 people. My wife and I sat with an employee for a good 30 min, went over the menu, she brought out a approximate 15“x15″ tray and stated each item ordered will be about that size. We ordered numerous entrees and 1 tin of pineapple fried rice and 4(four) tins of Pad Thai chicken. She then called the owner for a price quote on all that’s. I arrived, paid $ 301, food was mostly ready on time. I finally put the food in my car and so many trays later, lost track of my order and drove home. 10 min later we realized we ordered 4x Pad Thai. I called to tell them they did not provide to me the 3 remaining trays of Pad Thai and the employee goes, «that’s 4 servings of Pad Thai in that tray as you ordered. How incompetent can someone be? Why would I order all entrees saying 1 tray and for pad Thai say 4-in-one?! I feel I was ripped off and treated like an idiot. Then she offers to have the food delivered to me if I paid full price for it. I tried to call and they said a manager will be in maybe Wednesday… Sad.

Great Thai food and great service! Their lunch special here is a really good deal. For about $ 8 you get a main dish(which is the regular portion), 2 fried wontons, and a salad. The food here never disappoints! I’ve had the pad see ew with shrimp and also tried the panang curry with shrimp and it’s always on point and delicious. Highly recommend!

Food was good, but my main complaint was how long it took to get my food. I ordered online for pickup and it said it’d be ready in 15 minutes. I got there in 20 and it still wasn’t ready. I understand them being slammed, but it wasn’t right that a couple that came to dine in – after I’d already been there waiting an additional 20 minutes — got their food before me. I’d only ordered 3 small dishes… all in all, finally got my order an hour after I’d ordered it. Waited there for 45 minutes. If it’s going to take that long… fine…but tell us, and don’t claim it will be ready in 15 minutes. Pad Thai was a little mushy… but good flavor and everything else we had was great too.

Pretty legit place right here! Ordered the pineapple rice, coconut water, papaya salad, and drunken noodles… Everything was on point! Tons of flavor and great services! Definitely can share because they serve good portions! Small restaurant but cozy!

I come here for quick and delicious take out Thai food. My usual is the Pad Thai with chicken & Fried Rice with beef — pretty solid every time. I have also had the Thai ice tea, which is perfectly sweet yet delicious. Only reason I’m docking a star is for atmosphere. It’s a little stuffy inside, which is why I always take out. BUT, I want to stress the fact that on top of good food, the service is also prompt & the people are very friendly. This is certainly tasty Thai food that I can confidently recommend.

My favorite Thai take out in the area. I’ve tried the others, but always come back to Kao. Everything I’ve had here has been fantastic and their prices are so reasonable. Delivery is free and prompt. Hot Basil Chicken, Spicy Noodles w Beef, Larb, Steak Salad, Panang Curry are among my favorites. The restaurant is pretty small, but cute and cozy, but I typically prefer take out.

I know there are ALOT of thai restaurants in the Sherman Oaks area, but this is my go to thai food delivery! Love their chicken panang and chicken pad thai! Their chicken is never overcooked and the noodles are never dry. The prices are very reasonable, as well. We’ve never eaten at Kao Café, but if you’re looking for delivery, you should check out Kao.

This is a great lunch place, especially if you work in the area. The food is really tasty and they have excellent lunch specials. The lunch specials are very affordable and they give generous portions too. You also get a small salad with the lunch special while you wait for food. The rest of the regular menu is very delicious and the portions are even bigger than the lunch special. Sometimes the staff does mix up the order though, and sometimes it’s a bit difficult to split up the bills(at least with the couple of times in my experience). Other than that… this place is a great thai place.

I’m pretty satisfied with their food. I ordered pineapple curry, green curry fried rice, and pad see ew. Everything was good and if you can’t really eat spicy make sure order mild… Because the green curry fried rice is a little bit spicy for mild. Make sure to order their brown rice. Their thai coffee is pre-made and it is too sweet. Overall, this is a good place to go to when you’re craving thai food. Food came out pretty fast and servers are nice.

4 stars for the food! This used to be a weekly dinner spot for me and the only reason it’s not anymore is due to my work schedule and location changing. The staff is very kind and the food has always been great for me. Their pad thai is my favorite thing on the menu next to the chicken satay, chicken larb and shrimp salad with lime ginger dressing, pad see ew, and cream cheese filled wontons. Their pumpkin dishes are also delicious, as are their soups. I’ve had all of the curries here and enjoyed them all. I always get the fresh baby coconut to drink along with my meal as well. They get very busy at dinner time and I hear there can be a long wait sometimes. I’ve only experienced that once when I went with a large group. They have private parking behind the building, and there is usually ample street parking in the area.

Got the Soft Shell Crab in Penang Curry. I asked about wheat-free modifications and the server was quite happy to accommodate by telling the kitchen not to use the flour batter for the crab. Instead the crab was just deep fried. Two small crabs in the dish. The shells were still a bit tough, making indigestion a concern… but still really good dish. The penang curry was perfect with the coconut creaminess. The next time I came here I got the Pumpkin Shrimp Curry. Again the curry sauce was great. There were actual pumpkin slices and the flavors melded quite wonderfully. Shrimp was slightly tough from being overcooked, but all all wonderful dish I would get again. Both times I asked for garlic fried rice with my curries. Next time I think I’d opt for white or brown rice since the strong(but delicious) garlic flavor masked a bit of the curry sauce flavor I would have liked to savor more. Thai tea here is made way too sweet, but it’s still good. Next time I shall ask if they adjust the amount of sugar added. Service here is quite good! The server comes to check on you periodically without being obtrusive. Small restaurant, but it wasn’t crowded either times I went(Monday night, Friday night). Small tables so big groups may have trouble getting seated.
