Horrible service, food is inconsistent had a couple of waiters who were upset to be doing their job The servers always lied about when the food would be ready. Spent 35 minutes waiting one night after being told it’d be ready in 15 show up only to learn it would take another half hour. What kind of dumb and unethical business practices can you preach to have this type of behavior. Good riddance

Restaurant has closed. Probably for the best… I went back to give it another try and it was still not good. Waiters were apathetic and the soup was cold. How hard is it to keep soup hot?! The guy that was helping us seemed just not to care about anything. Maybe its because they’re closing. Then we went one last time to get takeout on what I came to find out was their last day.(I can heat my own soup!) So they were out of half of the menu and what they had was awful. That was definitely a bummer. However, I heard from one of the wait staff that the owner had decided to turn it into a «boiling crab» style Cajun seafood place. That makes me super excited. Hopefully it’ll be better as a seafood joint!

I ordered food here because it was available through the new Grub Hub app. The ordering on my app was very simple and easy. It’s just a click, click, click, and submit! I ordered about 6 items to which the food was delish. I ended up LOVING their Garlic Green Beans. So amazingly good! The staff was super friendly and extremely helpful. The only reason I’m giving them a 3 star is because although the ordering part was very easy when I had to call back to make changes to my order they messed up and canceled an extra dish that I still wanted. In the end they were able to successfully remove the extra item that they didn’t deliver. I was just disappointed that I didn’t get the dish I did want to eat.

This place is, like the great Sir Charles Barkley would say, «turrible.» Let’s start: 1. Ordered delivery. Was told it would be here in about an hour. I get it, it’s Friday night. No problem. Except by «about an hour» they actually meant 2 hours. Yes, 2 freaking hours. 2. Egg rolls were soggy and the sauce tasted like warm coca cola. Just… no. 3. The chicken satay was actually decent. Very good portion size. The peanut sauce was separated by the time we got it. Oil on the top, thick paste on the bottom. 4. The Pad Se Ewe wasn’t that offensive. It tasted like it was supposed too except for the fact that it was swimming in soy sauce. And it felt like it had just been taken out of the refrigerator. 5. The Phở was janky. We actually had to cook it. I repeat, we ordered delivery… that we ended up cooking. The noodles were in block form. It was a Lego of noodles. The broth tasted like Swanson. The best part of the Phở was the sriracha I added to it. The moral? STAYAWAY. I’m going to go drive through In-n-Out now.

I love this place but I knocked one star off because of the Tom Kha. Tom Kha happens to be my fav soup and I was skeptical about getting it here, ONLY because I’m set on a place where I get Tom Kha at. I know, I know. I’m being biases. Anyways, I’m a big fan of this place. Never had a complaint til now. So, I was just craving Tom Kha and figured I would give it a try here. Even the waiter suggested it, saying he eats it often but HOLYCANNOLI! Let’s just say … I have never gotten THIS soup, with noodles EVER.(And I’ve eaten Tom Kha at many restaurants. This place shouldn’t be exception) When it got to our table, it looked yummy but when I was serving it out, I noticed there was noodles.(I guess I should of read the description before ordering it. MYBAD) but I figured, it was going to be like eating Phở. This soup with noodles doesn’t last well with the type of noodles they put in it. Before finishing the first round of the soup, there was barely any broth left. The noodles soaked up the broth and got super soggy and just a hot mess in a bowl. I couldn’t even enjoy the soup without getting grossed out by the soggy noodles. Lucky for us, we had other dishes at the table to enjoy. When the waiter came to the table to clean up, he asked if we wanted a box for the soup. I said«No!» He looked at the soup like«we just wasted good food» … I’m sorry, that soup was shit! We didn’t complain but yet, he knew we didn’t enjoy it and he figured he would still charged us for it. Money is no big deal but some common courtesy is appreciated. Don’t worry, NOODLESTAR we will be back but Tom Kha is definitely something we would never get again.

Nice modern atmosphere. A great place for after work for a game or chatting with your friends. I wouldn’t take a first date here just because the lay out is better for social gatherings. Food wise, just delicious and high quality!

Looks like a small restaurant from the outside, but it’s actually pretty big, complete with several tvs. When we walked in for an early dinner, the game my bf wanted to watch was playing on one of the tvs, so he was happy. The menu is expansive. I saw Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, Japanese and Korean dishes. My bf got the udon, which was surprisingly good. I got the tom Kha noodle soup, but I only ate about a third, wishing I had got the udon instead. The restaurant has great happy hour for cheap beers. It’s a great place to grab food and drinks with friends and watch a sports game!

Grown up version of Noodle Planet. I think this is where people from Westwood who frequented Noodle Planet in their college days go once they are grown up and can’t live in a small apartment in Westwood so they opt for a house with a yard in Sherman Oaks. Just a theory. Anyway, I say this because, like NP, they have the an extensive Asian menu; granted, not as much as Noodle Planet, but they have a good offering. Also, like NP, the space is pretty open and expansive. It has a «clean» feel to it. Why it’s a grown up version of NP: it has a nice bar with a huge television. Also, the décor is pretty chic. As far as the food, very good! I had the Hainan chicken and it was to my liking. For the sweets, I just went with good ol’ boba. Tip: I think there is parking in the back. We parked on a meter but it looked like most people were coming from the back…

I ordered the lemongrass soup to go and it was amazing! 1. Unlike any other restaurant in the area, when you order soup to go., they give you the broth separate so it doesn’t get soggy. It’s the small things that really make a huge difference. My soup comes out perfect every single time and since I add the broth right as I’m about to eat, it’s like I’m eating it fresh! 2. They devein and clean their shrimp really well. Deveining is a common step in the process of cleaning shrimp to cook, in which you remove the shrimp’s gastrointestinal tract, which contains … It’s poop. Believe it or not most places do not take the time to devein their shrimp causing me to always get disgusted and not eat. Their shrimp is always perfect! 3. Service is always great! Nice, quick, and always smiling. 4. It’s sooooo good!

This place does everything you want it to — hot portions priced in the $ 11 – 14 range that I split easily into three meals. And surprisingly for a place that doesn’t specialize in one cuisine(the menu is literally split by country), they do a good job making the food generic enough without sacrificing taste. There are certainly concoctions like Thai spaghetti that’ll make you blink huh?!, but the pad see ew with steamed tofu is my favorite. The first time my roommate and I came here we waited 40 minutes for our to-go orders. I just placed an order via Eat24 that took 7. Go figure.

I used to belong to the gym that was right next store and we ate here a lot. My favorite was the appetizer the chicken satay. It is so delicious. I recently got the tofu appetizer and that was pretty good too! I’ve tasted many of dishes from this place and the food had always been good. I don’t workout next store anymore but I still go and pick up my chicken satay. The owner had always been nice and they have a great happy hour!

I come here frequently and I called in tonight to get food, was told it’ll be a 10 – 15 minute wait. THIRTYMINUTESLATER the food is ready. I will NOT return and I’m very upset at how Tony the manager handled things. Also, Amer is EXTREMELY rude. *2 minutes before the 30 minute wait we had* Amer said«it’s only been 28 minutes» Tony, it’s fine if it’s going to be a long wait– I get it if you’re busy. But don’t be a jerk(and other adjectives I can’t say on Unilocal) and blame us for«showing up early.» Be a man and own up to your restaurant’s mistakes. I will never return and I’m so very upset at how this situation was handled. I’m hoping the proper measures will be taken for the stupidity and rudeness that occurred tonight. Too bad, you guys have good food but I refuse to be treated like a second rate peasant in any establishment.

I wish there was less than one star! I have never written a review before but I just had the most appalling experience with the manager of Noodle Star, Bo. Bo was overwhelmed and several guests were complaining at the same time. He was defensive and was unaccountable with each customer. First, they took our call-in order wrong so we had I wait for them to remake our order. Then we asked for extra chopsticks and Bo said we could only have one set per entrée so they tried to charge us $ 10.00 for the extra sets we requested. I asked if we were allowed two chopsticks per entrée and they said no, only one. When I questioned the chop sticks policy Bo told the waitress to take my information and not serve me I’m the future. Prior to the change of management we used to eat here all the time. Each time we come seems to be worse than the previous time. This used to be a Thai restaurant and now it is a generic noodle restaurant. The interior looks like a hospital and the staff if always overwhelmed. Bo is clearly an out of work actor and has no restaurant management experience. His staff echoes the terrible training they must have received and I have no doubt this restaurant will not be around much longer. The only question is whether or not Bo will make it to the end. He was awful and so is this restaurant. I highly recommend Anajak on Ventura and Cedros to anyone in the mood for Thai food in Sherman Oaks. This was the last bad experience we will tolerate at noodle star. Thanks for reading! Zack

Another decent meal at Noodle Star. Had the original Phở which was surprisingly good the brisket was nice and tender. The broth was well season. Their Pad Se We was another enjoyable dish. The portions here are pretty huge. We also ordered a couple happy hour dish which was the fried chicken wings and egg rolls and a couples of beers. There nothing special about the fried chicken wings only it was way to dry, but the egg roll was nice and cripsy.

Was recommended to come here, unfortunately, it wasn’t a good recommendation. Came in during the evening happy hour on a Thursday, only three other tables and the back area already closed off. It looked more like a sports bar that didn’t make it so they decided to serve Asian food instead. The service was meh and everyone seemed like they didn’t care to or want to be there, especially the lady who sat us and took our order. I ordered veggie rolls and the Shoyu ramen with fish cake. The rolls were factory made, took forever to come out, and weren’t even warm when they did. They were made mostly of cabbage, and I could barely see anything else other than a few small strands of carrot. The ramen didn’t have the right to be called ramen, it was supposedly a pork broth, but was more of a soup broth than a ramen broth. I got maybe three pieces of pork and two itty bitty pieces of fish cake. It barely had any flavor and if it was a bit saltier then it could pass as a Campbells soup.

such a wide variety of asian food. It’s your typical mediocre Asian food… not the best since it doesn’t specialize in any particular Asian culture. The noodle dishes range from Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc… There’s also some rice dishes as well. I think the Tom Yum noodle soup is fairly good though. The plus is that this place opens fairly late(and has late night happy hour).will definitely come back if i want to grab some casual food later at night.

The Service: The restaurant isn’t too busy. Seated right away. All the staffs are very attentive. Quick service! The Food: Tonkotsu ramen — noodle soup with chashu pork slices or diced tofu in a rich white pork broth with bean sprouts, green onion, black mushrooms, fried onion, and seaweed(very generous on the pork slices, love the black mushrooms, HOWEVER, they don’t have the traditional seasoned egg in the soup…) Mochi ice-cream: taste like store bought… almost $ 5 for one order. Won’t order again. The Parking: Small private lot at the back of the restaurant(FREE), street metered parking.

** REVIEWFORDELIVERYONLY ** Thank god for EAT24 — if you’ve never used this site, do it now! Through EAT24 I was able to find Noodle Star which I was always meaning to dine at but never did. With free delivery with a purchase over $ 15 I was sold. + Beef PadSeeEw is a party in your mouth — a little bit more oily than I’ve had at other establishments, but it’s still amazing — pretty hefty serving size as well — definitely shareable + Penang — not too spicy, but has a definite kick for those who like«spicy» meals. Get an order of brown rice on the side! + There are few other chicken items & «thai burrito» type of entrees I’ve had but can’t remember the names The delivery service is quick, efficient and they have been on point every time. The guys delivering have always had a cheery presence too. There are definitely a lot of options on the menu — Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc. every type of asian cuisine you could imagine. I’m interested in trying their phở one of these days — will update once I dine in.
