A resounding meh. The service was fast and polite, but the ramen was just mediocre. My tonkatsu was rather thin and lacked flavor. The noodles were really clumpy, and it was hard to separate them enough for good slurping. My husband got the spicy ramen, and he liked it, but again, wasn’t thrilled. There are too many great ramen joints in la to eat mediocre ramen twice.

Got to give it to Ramen by Omae for stepping up their game! Came back after a disappointing first visit to find that they have greatly increased their menu to include sushi, appetizers, and more ramen options. The ramen broth was so flavorful — the best I’ve had in LA. The noodles were cooked perfectly. The garlic edamame were hot and covered in sauteed garlic. Only one waitress and one chef working and they managed to serve everything quickly as the restaurant filled up. They have showed me that you cannot always judge a restaurant after just one visit!

Found this place by accident while doing some shopping in the area. This place is awesome! I got the pan fried gyoza and the Kogashi Miso. The ramen broth was super good. The dish rivaled any of the ramen I’ve had in Little Tokyo. I’m surprised that this place wasn’t more crowded for a Thursday night. The service was good and we definitely felt that the food was worth the price. Definitely will return soon for more spicey ramen.

Fantastic. Every dish was excellent. Easily the best ramen I’ve had. The pork was so flavorful and the spicy broth was perfect. My only regret is that I forgot to get an egg topping. But I’ll be able to have that when I go back. .. soon! The side dishes were delicious too. We asked for a Poke bowl without rice, and they kindly made it specially for us. The breaded chicken was so tasty and moist. The service was excellent.

Went here for lunch while waiting for my car to be serviced next to the GMC dealership. The ramen was okay but not the best I had. Didn’t have any options for add ins for ramen, which I know isn’t traditional. The place is small and there was only one cook and one waitress, so food took a while to come. The price was fair and had good lunch options.

Like others, my expectations were raised based on the reputation of the chef. The actual experience was disappointing — it wasn’t bad, though even I, who adds salt to almost everything, felt the noodle soup dishes were too salty. But because of the raised expectations. . The setting is typical ramen shop, service was typical. The flavors were a little unusual, good or bad depending on personal taste, so if you are jonesing for ramen soup, and want to try something different, make a point to visit at least once. Otherwise, just stop in if you happen to be in the area.

My fav is the chicken salt ramen soup. I like the Taste of the broth, the veggies, egg, noddles, and chicken. Soup taste even better after I add Some chile n lime. This particular soup has no msg but I believe the other soups do have.

One of the best ramen places! The kogashi ramen has a very unique taste which I haven’t had anywhere else. The service was great. We went on a weekday and were seated right away. I would come back again to try all the ramens on the menu! Note that parking may be hard to find.

Small ramen shop in a mini-maill just east of Van Nuys Boulevard. There can easily be a wait here, so be patient. It also appeared that there’s only one server to tend to all the tables, so when they’re busy, you will need to be patient as she does her best to serve all the tables properly. I ordered the Kogashi Miso Chicken Ramen, which included ground chicken, and pork chasu. I added corn to the ramen, as well as a topping of karaage(fried chicken, but I asked that they serve it on the side instead as I wanted to eat it as a side dish and not have it go soggy in my ramen. In addition, I ordered a shrimp & sushi taco just to try it out. The food here is quite good. My ramen was nice and rich, and there was a blend of miso and other ingredients that gave it a flavor that differed from your traditional miso broth. Nevertheless, the portion size was good. However, I wish they would provide a better description of the type of noodles that are used for each type of ramen they offer(my other friends ordered a tonkotsu and a vegetarian ramen bowls — each type of ramen used a different type of ramen noodles. Thin for Tonkotsu; thick for Kogashi Miso, and thick flat egg noodles for the Vegetarian Ramen). I would have preferred the thin noodles. Shrimp & sushi taco was a square or nori(seaweed) with sushi rice and a cooked shrimp, sauced, and piled on top of the nori square. You would pick it up from the sides and eat it as if you’re holding and eating a taco. Karaage was good. Well brined and seasoned. Crispy and not too greasy. Though one friend loved her vegetarian ramen(vegetable soup base that was thick and rich), the other who ordered the tonkotsu ramen felt that the broth was flat and not as good as other ramen joints.

This place is so good! I tried two sushis and two Ramens and the dumplings. All were way above expectation. The workers were super nice!

Came here for the first time tonight for my little sister’s birthday. According to Unilocal, parking was going to be an issue but we got there and found a spot immediately right in front of the restaurant. It’s located in a decent sized lot behind the Gyukaku and El Torito. The restaurant itself is rather small but very clean and doesn’t feel cramped at all. The décor is nice and simple as to not overwhelm the already small space. We were greeted by an eager and friendly server named Megumi. She was very sweet, answered all of our questions, and gave us lots of laughs. We were so excited about our first time we ordered a bit too much. We had the spicy tuna roll, boiled gyoza, dumpling skin chicken pizza, garlic edamame just to start as our appetizers. The tuna roll was not what I was used to. The tuna was fresh and the roll made well but on top there were red chili flakes sprinkled on top and it did not go down well. The flakes would dry up our throats and get stuck. The gyoza were delicious and were in a garlic oil sort of sauce. The dumpling pizza was definitely interesting. The skins were fried and topped with diced chicken, teriyaki sauce, and cheese. They were nothing like anything else I’ve had before but tasty. Lastly, the garlic edamame were standard garlicky goodness. First round was delicious. As for the Ramen, we ordered the Tonkatsu, seafood Tonkatsu, and the kogashi. All were great and the noodles were thick and al dente. The kogashi was definitely a love or hate kind of deal. The seafood Ramen broth had a very strong corn taste. The Tonkatsu standard. I have to say though my favorite part was the pork in the Ramen. It was so tender and juicy. Everyone else thought it was a little too fatty but I loved it. Great first time experience!

Ms Megumi was a wonderful server! It was slow, so she was able to keep up with the party of 8 that walked in a late night. We had our variety Ramen dishes with in the party. I got the Kogashi Miso Pork with pork, bean sprout, green onion, kikurage, and miso for $ 12.00 This is going to be a short one because the food came perfectly on time. The food did it’s justice. Some of my friends said the Kogashi Miso was semi sweet for it’s type of Ramen. We didn’t go with the typical Ramen dishes you get. It’s def worth a try in my IMO. Check out this spot. Notes: Parking can become a drag in this tight spot in Ventura. I can see a line build up real quick because most ramen spots arent really that spacious anyways. Verdict: If your in the area for Ramen, this spot is a good spot to try out for a small group.

Favorite ramen place in the area! Such a great hole in the wall find! You’ve got to try it! The soup base is flavorful and rich, and the noodles have just the right amount of delicious, chewy texture that is a must with ramen. The toppings are first sautéed together to add even more extra yummy flavor. You can see the chef working in the back and everything is so fresh! How can I make this more convincing? Oh, and did I mention they have Poke?! Just go!

The ramen here is the best in the valley. Actually it may be the best I have had in LA. Now they have cold ramen which is perfect for now that the weather is getting warmer and it’s delicious.

I personally believe that flavor and taste are incredibly subjective. Each an every person will taste something different and decide whether they love it or hate it. I absolutely enjoyed my experience here. I loved the quaint and homey feeling. I think it really makes a meal more enjoyable. I had the Chanpon ramen and it was so delectable. Crisp and fresh veggies, delicious seafood, and a creamy broth that is just to die for. I am pretty picky about ramen, and especially about non-traditional ones, but this one really hit it out of the park for me. I really just enjoyed my whole experience here, and it’s not too often that you can find restaurants that leave you completely satisfied. I will definitely be coming back for more!

Now they serve sushi too!!! Staff is always friendly, service is like in Japan. I feel like I am in Japan!!! 100% Japanese who born in Japan, not in the USA are cooking delicious Ramen. I lived in Japan for 16 years and know Japanese service, food, living style better then people who never was there and never will be there. Yesterday I ordered Chanpon, gyoza and sushi. It was really testy dishes! I love Kogashi miso, but Chanpon is my favorite from now. I hardly recommend this restaurant to everybody.

Damn kids. This is some rich ass ramen. I mean, I could not finish my bowl. The broth is so dense with fat, spices and flavor you can’t or maybe you can and I just bitched out. I got the Kogashi Spicy Miso Ramen w/pork. Kogashi which means ‘burned’ is a specific means of preparing ramen by wok. From what I have read and seen spiced lard is heaved into a hot wok then the veggies go in and then the broth and all that fatty goodness gets incorporate then the noodles get tossed in for good measure. Like I said. Damn. The cashu pork is tender and delicious and the broth really brings out the flavors of all the components. My only complaint is, well I have two. One is cost. Egg is $ 2 extra which it shouldn’t be. Every bowl I have every ordered came with a half egg as part of the dish and secondly the noodles are served al dente which really isn’t my thing. However, if you love ramen and are looking for a seriously different and distinct experience I highly recommend you go. It will certainly give you a Flavorboner.

I’m gonna have to say that I was disappointed by this spot. They surely the sell the aspect that the chef was taught by Iron Chef Morimoto. The spot itself is in a nondescript strip mall. Parking isn’t great but it’s next to a shaved ice store so you can at least get dessert afterwards. Small storefront so I can see why there is a wait here at times. Now onto the food. What we had: Kogashi miso pork ramen(3⁄5) This is the ramen they are famous for. It’s different than what we’re used to. The uptrend in ramen has been tonkotsu ramen. Super deep, fatty and unctuous pork broth that has been cooked for hours and hours over a rapid boil. Even though they tout their broth has been cooked for 40 hours, you can’t feel it nor can you taste it. The taste of their kogashi broth is 100% reliant on the burnt miso. The flavor is unique and interesting to the spoonful but I was over the broth after about two spoonfuls. You can only take the flavor of burnt for so long. I felt the soup was pretty one dimensional. Good notes of the dish? — filling, lots of woodear mushrooms, lots of noodles. Bad notes — one dimensional, gets boring Would I come back to this place? Probably not.

I see a lot of mix reviews for Ramen by Omae. For me I thought it was solid. But make sure you call first to see if they are open. That’s the only down side to this place. It seen like they can open any time they want. The service that we received was excellent. If you’er into burnt miso pork broth this is the place. Ramen. Pork Kogashi Miso Ramen was delish. I love the burnt style broth. It was very rich and had great flavor. The noodles was on point perfectly cook. The pork was very tender and well seasoned. Vegetable Ramen. I didn’t get to try it, but my wife love it. Pork & Sauté Vegetable with truffle oil. WOW!!! It didn’t look like much, but man it was fantastic. Very flavorful. I guess if you put truffle oil in it. It just makes everything better. I recommend getting this dish. In the end I thought it was solid, and I’ll definitely return.
