Love this place. I’m always in the mood for soup and they have a great variety. The portions are huge so a half a bowl is all I can manage. Comes with yummy cornbread. They also have sandwiches and salads, but I always go for the delicious soup. They will let you taste them before deciding. Def give them a try.

Great sandwiches, salads and soup, and coffee. Would love to try the breakfast menu. I come here maybe 4 times a month

Though their ingredients were fresh, they did not live up to expectation. I ordered the smoked salmon caprese salad to find a bland poorly combined salad that shouldn’t even have been called«caprese» this is not a standard Italian caprese salad! I don’t think eggs were a good combination with it if you do order it. We also ordered the Chris’s Guinness stew which was good but we received no beef in the soup. The grilled cheese was fantastic! If I had to order anything it definitely would be the grilled cheese! It was savory and had a good combination of cheeses and sauce.

I want to say something positive about the place, but to be honest the only positive part was the staff member who came up to get the plate from me… I had to clean my own table and wipe it as well. The food came pretty quickly. The issue is that my Rosemary Tuna Melt was missing the Melt. After a few bites I realized that the cheese was missing, but too lazy to go ask for it to be redone. Ingredients were fresh, so that is what 2 stars are for… now days is most new LA eateries the ingredients are fresh, however the rest is better then here.

Getting the sniffles and needed something warm and soothing so checked this place out. Did not disappoint at all… Soup of the day was turkey white bean and gf got potato cheddar… Just really flavorful soups and cornbread! Definitely coming back for more!

This place really does catch you completely off guard. Taste My Soup is like that friend of a friend you meet at a birthday party and they seem kinda douchey during the night. And then they tell a sarcastic joke, and you’re like, hmm, that was funny, but still douchey. And then by the end of the night you’re like THISISMYBESTFRIEND, LETSINSTAGRAM A PICTOGETHER, FORGETOURMUTUALFRIEND, LET’S GROWOLDTOGETHERIN A PLATONICWAYCOZ I’M NOTLIKETHATAHHHHHHH!!! Every time I revisited this place, it became more and more my favorite. Think of the sandwiches at Mendocino Farms. Now think of the soups at Souplantation. THEBEST, right? Now think of them COMBINED, in a completely non-descript mom-and-pop shopfront of a hidden, weird strip mall for slightly poorer people who don’t like crowds and who love great soups and sandwiches. THIS is Taste My Soup. I used to think of this place only when I was too cheap to pay for Mendocino or too lazy to drive to the nearest Souplantation, but I’ve tasted enough deliciousness here that I’m starting to think of this place as my FIRST option for a good soup and/or sandwich. Seriously, if Mendocino is my Blanche and Souplantation is my Dorothy, Taste My Soup has become my Sophia! Thank you for being a friend! Everything is super simplistic here. The sandwiches and soups are not as fancy or complicated as those two big chains, but they are just as unique in flavors and very well executed. And honestly, I can’t think of one place off the top of my head to go for a good selection and wide range of JUST soups except Souplantation. Sometimes you just crave a good soup, you know? For me, I crave a good soup all year round, not just when it’s near frostbitten temps in SoCal(aka 50 degrees). And no, I don’t want the few options in the pathetic soup section of a diner, but soup from a place that actually specializes and is dedicated to soups. That’s hard to find, but I’m SO glad I did. They have a great arsenal of soups, with a changing Soup of the Day. They’ll give you free samples before you order, but I’ll tell you that all the soups are top notch in my book. They have combo deals where you can get a ½ sandwich, ½ soup, and it’s just perfection on those days you just crave simplicity for lunch. The ingredients they use in both the sandwiches and soups taste fresh and the soups are always piping hot. The best soup I’ve had thus far was this lemon chicken Soup of the Day, which isn’t on the permanent menu, but I wish it was. And I favor the Chicken Jalapeño Melt sandwich. Oh, and they have ice cream too! I had a «churro”-ish ice cream flavor and I didn’t have much expectation of it, as it looked like County fair ice cream, but on my 3rd-and-a-half bite, it hit me how good it was. Yet another surprise that caught me off guard. This place keeps giving me mini-heart attacks! They’re only open during the daytime lunch hours, so I can only go on weekends, but when I do, no one is ever there. So if you’re in the area, just check it out! What’s there to lose? The small amount of money you’re going to spend? Or the line you won’t be waiting in?

Absolute top notch food, service, and atmosphere. I eat lunch here 2x a week minimum, their old menu was great, but their new WINTERMENU is off-the-charts good. They also started doing a BREAKFASTMENU with a Quiche of The Day. Try the split pea soup and rosemary turkey sandwich. All the ingredients are really fresh and everyone is very friendly. Plus they give you all the soup samples you want, they respect their patron’s feedback, and the chef genuinely has a passion and a knack for cuisine. Did i mention ice cream? ICECREAM.

I really like the soup at Taste my Soup. It’s a place worth the drive, honestly, if you have the time in your day. Their sandwiches and salads are also delicious, and they always offer a nice variety of daily soup specials.

I am debating and I wish there was a 3.5 star option. The place looks nice and clean. Service was attentive. No issues there. We tasted all the soups before choosing the Moroccan carrot soup and the black beans with sausage . I didn’t don’t eat red meat or pork and I had a hard time finding a soup I can eat. I occasionally have seafood but the garlic shrimp soup didn’t taste good to me. Was sort of bitter. There was turkey & chicken with noodles and pork soup and pork sausage soups. Lentil soup was out :(so I ended up with the carrot soup. I am not a huge carrot fan but there wasn’t much else to choose from unless you eat meat . So carrot soup only option gets 2*. Friend had the beans and sausage soup he really liked it, so he said to give it 4.5 stars . The shrimp sandwich he had gets a 3.5 stars. My shrimp salad got a 3 star. It was just too much oil on it . Overall I love this concept and I was really looking for an alternative to Gelson’s soup bar … This place didn’t make the cut yet but I give 5* for the free scoop of chorizo flavored ice cream(if you check in) and the owner was pleasant to talk to . So I will come back on another day and perhaps give a broccoli soup or something else a chance(if it comes up as a soup of the day since it’s not on the menu for now)

Loved this place! It’s a total hole in the wall sandwich joint. It’s in the same corner as Corner Bakery. Pro’s: reserved restaurant parking spots. Accepts credit cards. Free desert for Unilocal check-in’s. Lots of selection to choose from. They have so many unique different types of sandwiches, salads, and soups. They will give you samples of whatever you choose. They also have combos if you’re craving both sandwich and soup. The soups are amazing. Been here twice already and loved what I got each time. Great customer service. Con’s: located right on Ventura Blvd so it’s always busy. Small parking lot with a few dedicated parking spaces for the restaurant. If you can’t find parking look to the streets. LoL

Hidden gem! I got the feta watermelon salad and the crab and corn soup. Both were amazing and the employees were so happy. They let you try as many soup samples as you want. I’ll definitely be back

It’s not often I feel this compelled to write a review anymore, but I started working in the area and after some quick research found Taste My Soup. For starters, the employees are all super friendly. They’ll take care of you while dining in and allow unlimited(within reason) soup samples. The menu will change depending on the season, but that’s a positive for me as I’ve eaten my way through the entire sandwich and soup menu already. There is always a soup of the day and sandwich of the month; being a massive Thanksgiving sandwich fan, I’m beyond satisfied with their version: the«Gobble Gobble»(Nov + Dec sandwich of the month). Other menu favorites: House Lentil soup, Turkey Noodle soup, Poblano and Corn Chowder, Carolina White Bean with Pulled Pork soup, Valley Club Although the turkey noodle soup is on the salty side, it’s pretty outstanding regardless. I’m also not a corn chowder fan but they somehow made it top notch — creamy, savory, and with a kick. The lentil, however, is by far my favorite. For a smaller, mom and pop-type shop, it’s nice that they have online ordering/twitter to announce each soup of the day. The restaurant is clean and food is well-plated, with maybe the one downside being a couple of brand-new employees slowing down efficiency. It can get moderately crowded during lunchtime, so I would recommend ordering via the app and picking up. Unless the service slows significantly or I taste a bad soup, I’ll probably continue to make this a weekly(at least) lunch necessity.

It’s fine. I ordered a half soup half sandwich type of thing. I chose the poblano and corn chowder. The soup was delicious and was served at a high temperature, which I like. The sandwiches all cost the same even though some of them have much more expensive ingredients? Yeah, I got half a grilled cheese sandwich. The sandwich wasn’t that impressive. I know, I know, it’s just grilled cheese. But honestly, I make a better one at home. This grilled cheese was very greasy and my hands were super oily every time I grabbed it. And although it contained two types of cheese, it all tasted the same. It wasn’t bad. I ate it all. But it wasn’t anything special. Free ice cream with check in as of 10/28/2015.

WARNINGVEGETARIANS! Don’t trust the soups if you are a vegetarian. We ordered a Minestrone soup delivered to our home that had chicken in it. UGH! My daughter puked her guts out when she bit into it. Not good. We called and the restaurant first denied that it was possible(Yes, I have pictures of it) and then reluctantly said they’d refund the 6 bucks. How thoughtful. Check this place out if you don’t mind being surprised by random pieces of fowl winding up on your plate. On the bright side, it wasn’t a thumb.

Today I ordered a minestrone soup that is claimed to be a vegetarian option on the menu at Taste My Soup. I was horrified to discover that it had a piece of chicken in it as I was finishing up the bowl. I actually was chewing on it because I thought it was just another vegetable or a bean, but then I realized it was a lot more rubbery than the rest of the vegetables and tasted nothing like the rest of the soup. It was unflavored and its consistency was that of a thick, chewed up piece of gum. I immediately spit it out and had my dad take a look at it. He dissected it and then confirmed my worst fear. Yup, it was definitely a piece of chicken. Within minutes I promptly threw up every morsel of food I have consumed in the last day or two. I was disgusted beyond what you could imagine. I HADNOTEATENMEATINOVERSIXYEARS. When we called the restaurant, absolutely nothing was done about it. They even denied that it was possible, but luckily my dad and I took photos. I have ordered and eaten that minestrone soup at least five or six times before in the past so I am extremely disturbed by the idea that it is entirely possible meat could have been in those bowls as well. I was a fan of Taste My Soup, but after this incident and the lack of customer support given to me by the restaurant, there is no way I will be coming back.

I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t know about this place until this week despite working a few hundred yards away. 1) PARKING. There is free parking in the lot and street parking/meters. 2) LOCATION. It’s in the strip mall behind Corner Bakery. 3) FOOD. Holy amazing. It’s fresh, full of flavor and you can sample soups before committing. I had the soup/salad combo. The fall cob was delicious and the corn chowder is incredible. It has quite the kick to it which made it interesting and memorable. 4) DRINKS. The ice tea is so good and they even have flavored syrups! Kid friendly, inexpensive, healthy. So much better than all the chains in the area!

I have come here 3 times and everytime has been an overwhelmingly awesome experience. I’ve gotten the soup and sandwich combo each time — such a good deal $- and every time tried different soups/sandwiches. Each and every item has been delicious. Some noteworthy: the valley club, grilled cheese, poblano corn chowder — and sadly, the soups of the day cannot be regulars because they’re delicious too. And the quality seems far above the prices. The quality and taste is comparable, if not better to places like Olive and Thyme, Crave Café, or Urth Café, all of which price their premium sandwiches around 13 $. Taste My Soup’s sandwiches are of premium quality and ingredients and only $ 8.29. However the real winner is the combo, only $ 9.49, and generous portions! Staff is extremely nice and personable. Let you taste as many soups as you’d like, open to substitutions, and always checking on how you’re enjoying the meal. Every time I’ve gone, it has not been too busy, and there has been no wait. Granted, it has been hot lately, so I expect all the soup lovers will make the winter days more crowded. But while it’s still boiling out, they keep it nice and cool inside. Not to mention the ambiance which is very hip and clean. Honestly. Food + price = best ever. Also, as part of a promotion, they are giving out a free ice cream scoop for a check-in on Unilocal. They have this new flavor — brown sugar — omgz tastes like a churro. And is amazing. Not a big ice cream person but this one is delicious. And a hearty scoop! Thanks guys!

Tuscan tomato with half grilled cheese. Lemon chicken with watermelon salad. Both delicious!!! And gluten free. Glad we found this place for some great soups. Hard to find behind the corner bakery, but well worth it.

Came again on the 23rd of May to get a bunch of soups to go, for the long weekend. This time I got the corn/crab soup(very spicy), cauliflower, split pea and the veggie chili. The pea soup tasted like it had mint in it, it was really good. I loved the chili, but prefer the one with meat in it better. The corn and crab soup my body did not like the next morning at all. :( The cornbread that comes with it, is always good. Service was again wonderful. I got 4 soups 2 of them large containers and got 5 meals out of it, for 30.00 not bad at all. Love coming here.
