Super cool place! I am NOT a club person, and I love the idea of low key, relaxed bar, like a speakeasy. Let me tell you, this is the first one I ever went to in LA, and it made a great impression for me. First of all, I love that you have to ask where it is and get directions to it. You just go to the doorman outside the main restaurant, Tipple & Brine, and he’ll let you know where to go. Not going to lie, it was a little hard for us to find at first, but it is a speakeasy ;). Anyway, when we got in there, I was immediately INLOVE with the décor. I mean the ambience does not get any cooler. The drinks were AWESOME tasting and the mixologist(oh yeah, she’s a mixologist) was super friendly and sweet. The inside of the bar is great, and they also have a little rooftop-bar-patio which is really cute too. The only reason I wouldn’t give it a 5 star is because their drinks could have been stronger and cheaper, but that’s just me! Totally would go back though and recommend it to anyone!

This is my new fave spot to have a drink & chill! I love the fact that it’s hidden with a speakeasy vibe and they even have an outdoor patio!

I came here on a date, and it was perfect! Perfect dark ambiance, and the bartenders were awesome. I had an old fashioned, and it was delectable. The outside patio was adorable. The crowd was eclectic and super friendIy. I definitely recommend this place for dates or a quiet night out on a Friday or Saturday night. Only reason I’m not giving a full 5 stars is because the ladies restroom was a mess. But its a bar… so i get it… but still…

I’ve only been here once but it was somewhere I’ve been wanting to check out for awhile. It’s a small but cozy bar, and I really dig the swanky layout. The outside patio area is small but we found a seat and were pretty comfortable out there with the heaters. The bartenders are great. I told one of them to just make me something fruity & delicious, and she came up with a great cocktail. To this day I still have no idea what was actually in it. I love when bartenders are creative like that. BONUS: they were playing Seinfeld on the TV, which is hilarious & awesome.

In order to get to the Tunnel, you first must go through the Tipple and Brine restaurant. We ended up having dinner at the restaurant first, then made our way upstairs to the bar. Nice cozy bar to hang out in. The drinks were great, our bartender was very good, and very fast. It was pretty crowded, but not packed. We enjoyed ourselves and will be back!

I can’t even put into words how impressed I am with this place. I thought it was a little awkward that we entered through tipple and brine but that all went away once we entered. If you like a big boujie scene this isn’t your place. This is a fun chill spot to grab a drink with a date or some friends. Their drinks are exceptional, service could be a little better outside but not bad enough to complain about. The overall feel of the place is why I love it, stands apart from the same old, same old :) I’ll update my review after we eat there, the last couple times we went for drinks.

WARNING!!! DONOTCOMEHERE!!! My friends and I visited both Tipple & Brine and Tunnel Bar on Saturday October 16th. We had a few drinks downstairs at Tipple before going up to the Tunnel Bar. When we walked upstairs we were welcomed by a very friendly bartender but that was about the only nice thing about our experience. we ordered 8 drinks and then walked out to their patio which is when all the BS started. First off, the owner bumps into my friend, spilling his drink but didn’t bother to offer him an apology much less a new drink. she then proceeds to sit right in the middle of all of us and tells us that we smell like weed… REALLY??? she then says how we should go to a different bar because we aren’t spending enough money. 1 round of 8 drinks was over $ 100 and we had only been there 10 – 15 minutes.(not to mention the couple hundred we had already spent downstairs at TIPPLE and BRINE) They basically didn’t want us there because we weren’t the right clientele. I honestly felt discriminated again. message to the owner:(I hope she reads this) Next time, try being sober when you approach people who are spending a lot of money at your bar… you might make more sense and not embarrass your employees by making them do your dirty work. As soon as we left this horrendous establishment we walked over to ANEJOBARANDGRILL and had a blast. Vee, who is the owner knows how to treat people. Do yourself a favor and skip TIPPLEANDBRINE, TUNNELBAR and DOWNTOWNJOHNNYS since they are all owned by the same people/person.

Pretty neat little place. In the back of another restaurant. I think it’s called tipple & something. But the door to get out looks like an elevator door with a gate over it. Super cute. Tables are intimate and comfortable. It doesn’t seem like it gets crowded – which I love. I can’t stand crowds! & on their drink menu they have a bartenders choice. You tell the waitress what alcohol you want and what kind of theme or flavor you want in your drink, and the bartenders mix you up something delicious! Since I had a margarita earlier in the night, I asked for tequila + the mix to be on the sweeter side. I was happy with the drink. And the waitress was really nice. I’ll be back

Love this place. Excellent service. Friendly environment. Mingled w/a lot of people on a Thursday night and I truly enjoyed myself. I ordered the Bartender’s choice & got to name two of my drinks that Ninja made for me. «Peach Lush» which was made out of peach juice, vodka, ginger & other awesome stuff. Also«Blackberry Fairy» which has blackberry, vodka, raspberry, basil & something else delicious. My bestie had the Summer Lovin’ which she really enjoyed. The rooftop patio was packed but i enjoyed climbing the stairs to see it and also using the joint bathroom. Again, I had an incredible time. The price was fair and I will definitely be returning.

Super hidden, but well worth it if you are looking for tasty drinks and to just chill. Not too loud and extremely intimate. Do bring your side-chick or mistress here. This place screams anonymity but is public enough to make her feel like a proper lady. Don’t expect to take many group photos. The lighting sucks(for those with an abundance of melanin) and the patrons are scarce or too tipsy to take a great photo. Do grab a drink! The drinks pack a punch and are tasty. They are pricey tho… Don’t forget they have a super cute outdoor patio.

Enter through Tipple & Brine and head to the back left of the place(opposite the restrooms sign) and you’ll see the lit stairs to the Tunnel Bar. Pretty small bar, but really nice also. There’s a small patio that doesn’t really overlook anything because it’s literally in the middle of the builing and doesn’t go out to the edge of the building. It’s not a place that gets too crowded, but a good place to get a drink.

$ 19 for a Belvedere and soda. Did I ask why? Yes. Was I given a satisfactory answer? No. My cash was taken and I was told it was time to close our checks. Mind you it was 11:30PM. Cocktail servers were dismissive and more interested in bussing old tables than serving new ones. The manager kept talking about another bar down the street. Kept coming out to the roof top terrace and telling us to go to «Downtown Johnny’s» Not sure that is a great business strategy. Will not be attending again.

Tunnel Bar is a little hidden spot inside in the back of Tipple & Brine Resturant. It’s small but the drinks and food are great. It’s a great spot for a few drinks.

This spot caught my attention because it it seemed like it would be a speakeasy type of place. I thought that being a speakeasy it would be a bit more hidden but aside from the fact that it’s inside towards the back area of a restaurant, there isn’t much of a secret when you see the giant name displayed above the stairs. The thing is that when we walked in, we just simply asked the guy how to get to the tunnel bar and he just told us to go to the end of the restaurant and up the stairs and that was it… that was it? what? well, A for effort and for trying. Unlike other speakeasies, unless you know a pass word or know how to find the place(what door to pull or what door knob to turn), this one isn’t very much of a hidden spot. Walking up the stairs was pretty cool and I was excited when I saw the Tunnel Bar entrance sign. I was excited to walk into what I was thinking a tunnel to get to the bar but there was none. A little confused there but ok. Once inside you see rock stars portraits up on the wall yet the bar feel is a different kind of vibe to it, from a totally different era, 20s maybe??, not sure how rocker and a 20s era come together there. The bar area, where we decided to sit, looked nice but the staff was definitely not the friendliest/chattiest. I am not sure if maybe it was a rough day or if the guy just seemed to be trying to be funny, but his joke came off a little confusing and I was left wondering what he meant when he handed me my drink. The bar area wasn’t too busy yet the bartender never really spoke to me or my husband. The crowd is very mixed here(old and young) and so is the music. Just an over all mixed feelings about this place. The music, the décor and the vibe of this place just simply do not flow. As for my drink,(yea, I only had one), it didn’t really taste how I was expecting it to taste like. I ordered the #11 which consisted of champagne, sugar, house made strawberry gin and lemon. I didn’t get much of a gin or sugar flavor there so it mainly tasted like lemon champagne, which was ok but like I said, not what I was expecting. As for the cost for the drink, affordable and not bad at only $ 11. #65/2015

I agree with Evan L’s review. Really cool bar that makes you wonder if you are on the the north side of the hill. Good ambiance, sexy lighting, intimate feel, good drinks and decent crowd. I knocked a star because of a slightly self important bartender that took my first drink order… he scoffed when I asked for Malibu for a friends drink… I hate that shit. If I’m paying you $ 12 for 2 oz of any liquid, look for it with a smile buddy. The next bartender that helped me had a better attitude. I’d return.

I finally made it to this speakeasy«hidden» in the back of Tipple & Brine. It reminded me a bit of the Varnish since it was located at the back of the restaurant, except this«speakeasy» had its name etched in neon above the steps leading up to the bar. A bit cheesy to me. I really thought the only way in was a hidden, unmarked entrance in the back alley. You open door and enter a smallish room with a bar. I looked over the menu ordered the lavender infused rum cocktail and walked over with a friend to the outdoor patio. The food was exactly what you find down at Tipple & Brine which was really disappointing. This really is an extension of the restaurant. Another place to drink a cocktail. I wish the music they played was something less KISS-FM and more KCRW, KDAY or Miles Davis. The music really killed the trendy vibe in here. I was looking for the trendiness of the Upstairs Bar at the Ace Hotel or the speakeasy feeling of the Varnish or Edison, but instead I felt like I was in the Valley. The crowd was an unstylish, older Valley crowd that you might see dining at a Fleming’s or that particular club in Westlake Village. I would lower your expectations here and take it for what it is. Tunnel Bar is a better than average cocktail bar disguised as a speakeasy.

Tunnel Bar is located to the back left of a restaurant, in a small room and out on the rooftop patio. Though small, it is a fun little speakeasy to grab some drinks and relax with your friends. It was crowded when my friend group arrived, barely being able to squish our way past the crowd at the bar inside and up to the roof. We were just discussing which one of would be the one to battle to crowd again for some drinks when a waitress came up to us with their specialty drink menu, took our orders and a card to keep them on, and brought them back to us! No battling required! Eventually someone left and we could sit down at one of the tables outside and joy our cocktails. I got an Afterhours, which I loved but most of the rest of my friends who took a sip did not. It was sweet and bubbly and yummy! The bartender came up for a smoke and chatted with us, he was very friendly. My one dislike of this place would have to be the long staircase that is required to climb up to get in and down to get out. Dimly lit staircase + candles on the steps + a few cocktails = great concentration on not falling at the end of the night.

Not bad for a little speak easy. The décor inside has a modern/contemporary fill. They got a full stocked bar and a couple mixology drinks on their menu. The service could have been a lot better. I was there on Halloween night and the place was not packed. The waitress continued to talk to a customer/guy/maybe a holiday special. So she took time to come check on us n I had to take her the bill. Overall the place was nice. I recommend parking on a street around the corner and you can just walk up through the alley.

Hate to review this place because I want to keep it my little secret but if you know how the valley works, nothing stays on the DL! Location: kind of awesome you have to head in from the back of the bldg in the ally. Look for the blue light! Adds to the fun. Décor: so awesome, I can’t decide if it is more like an old Brooklyn speakeasy or a bar at Harvard where all the fancy pants students hang out. Great tunnel layout over the bar. Drinks: strong! I had the Hurricane and it was tasty but strong. They have an extensive menu of liquors to choose from too! Service: great service, got a round of shots because we had to wait for our drinks(some receipt printer error) either way the staff was great! Crowd: mixed crowd, mostly young and hip people!
