This restaurant seems to be doing pretty well because it’s been packed every time I’ve gone. The food is just okay though. My latest visit was for a birthday party and we were a group of 20 and had the back room. We ordered lettuce wraps which were pretty blah. Not much flavor, the meat was pretty dry. I ordered the crispy salmon roll as an appetizer to share and that was my favorite dish. It wasn’t amazing, better than everything else though. Lastly for my meal, the salmon red curry. It was okay. Salmon was over cooked, curry lacked flavor. It’s Thai food for the masses — not for those we really enjoy Thai food. The location of the restaurant is fantastic so I assume that’s why it’s always so busy. No complaints about the service.

Got takeout shrimp Panang curry from here on a cold Monday evening. Staff was friendly and attentive and when I got it home, meal was good, currvy was flavorful. Simple with no frills. I would give 4 stars but their prices for the portion sizes are not very generous. Will update if I return for a dine-in experience :-)

I went here today in the afternoon. It had a few patrons but mostly empty. I was seated right away by the lady at the desk and was directed toward a enclosed booth. I was later greeted by my waiter 3 minutes later. She was a little rushy which is why I took the star off but polite. I had the dumplings that started with a G(cannot find them on the online menu) but they came out quickly and hot! They were delicious! For the entrée I ordered the Crispy duck and this was definitely a winner in my book! I decided to give the duck one more chance after i had ordered it for carry out and it was dry and soggy(it didn’t come with any sauce either) but not today! everything was perfect! to the steamed broccoli and carrots to the steamed rice and the crispy ducked that was doused in a generous amount of sauce that added the extra kick to the spicy duck! Will be going back for more!

I visited this place to indulge in their Tea, which was a great choice. My wife purchased some rice and enjoyed it. The location is nice in downtown silver spring.

This place never disappoints! I’ve been multiple times since moving to the neighborhood. Great happy hour specials. I’ve had the Panang curry, pad Thai, steamed dumplings, etc. all the food is delicious! Comes out fat and hot! They have tvs if you want to watch a game at the bar. You can get a carafe or half carafe of house wine, etc. chill place that you can actually have a conversation with someone, if you’d like. Check it out.

I ordered the healthy rolls without chicken and thought they were refreshing and good. My coworkers ordered a bunch of appetizers and the only one I could eat was the fried tofu. I like tofu a lot but thought it was pretty bland. I should add I’m not a huge fan of fried tofu — I prefer it steamed and wiggly. Our server was this beautiful woman who had the prettiest smile, she was so sweet and patient with our group. I would go again because of the friendly staff, neat location and to try some of their other vegetarian options!

The«Lamb in Two Seasons» was nicely prepared. The meat was tender and well seasoned in some type of coconut milk infused brown sauce. Glad I selected it over my usual Drunken Noodle. The layout is a bit dated, but the location is good. I enjoyed their food.

I really want to give this place four stars. They have a good location, their food looks good, and they have ample portions. But their food just lacks flavor. :*-( Nestled in the heart of downtown Silver Spring, Thai at Silver Spring has a premier location. Park in the municipal parking garage and walk into the downtown restaurant row area. The stairs(and elevator) directly in front of you lead to the door of Thai at Silver Spring. The layout of the restaurant is open with a curved front, giving the diner the option of a window booth or a more intimate table in the center or back of the dining room. The waitstaff may have to be waved down a few times once your food is delivered, but upon seating service is quick. And when the food comes… a bit of sadness. THEFOODWASNOTBAD! Lets get that out of the way. There was not a single bad taste amongst the many dishes ordered. Unfortunately, there was almost no taste among anything on the table. The Tom Kha(creamy coconut milk chicken) soup came in a huge bowl and looked wonderful. Bland chicken with an absence of the rich traditional flavors. The calamari came out in deep fried onion ring form. No excess grease, evenly battered and fried. Very promising looking. Chewy. The batter had crunch, but nothing else. I was basically using the calamari as a conveyance for the sweet chilly sauce. Actually, the sweet chilly sauce was probably the best thing portion of the meal. I ordered the Jungle Lover with chicken and fried tofu. Supposedly spicy. Nope. In my family I’m the one that orders meal with the least«heat», here I couldn’t find it. The tofu was softer than the chicken: Yay! But WOW, I had the hardest time chewing through each and every tough piece. They were like little sponges. Bite down, they compress, release, they spring back to their original form. If I wasn’t so stubborn(and hungry) they might have won that battle. All in all, this restaurant could be really really good. But they have to find the flavor. I’ve had Thai food in Thailand, Europe, in the north, the south, east coast, west coast, and spots in the middle. There are many takes on the cuisine, but the one Must Have element that was missing here: Flavor.

This restaurant has been a go-to date night location for years. The food is always good, service is quick, and the atmosphere is just pleasant –never too loud, but not deathly silent. My wife always orders the steamed dumplings and Tom Kha Ga chicken soup; every other dumpling she has pales in comparison. The wrapper is thin in a Shumai — style way. I personally like a doughier dumpling, but these definitely pack flavor in a small package. I typically get the Drunken Noodle with pork, but there is a Siam Crispy Chicken entrée that is superb — just the right combo of sweet, heat, and a large serving of their fried rice to come with it. I have tried just about all of the appetizers and the shrimp cakes are my favorite; the spring rolls are pretty solid though. The only complaint(and it’s very minor) is that the never seem to have mango to go with their sticky rice dessert.

’twas a rainy afternoon in the spring that was silver when we wandered into an establishment on the 2nd story of a downtown building. with a music festival quickly coming to a halt as sky tears fell to the asphalt, my spouse and i scrambled up the steps to this thai restaurant because 1) we were hungry and 2) it was thai. we walked in to a very open-feeling room and we were escorted almost immediately to a table. the water that was placed at our table had a minor dirt taste to it. so, although we typically are content with water at restaurants(it’s healthy and free!), we ordered soft drinks/pop/soda/soda pop(whatever noun you attach to that bubbly beverage) instead. we chatted as we waited for our meals and our server coming to check on us regularly. she was professional and made sure we were happy. i ordered the pra ramm with chicken. the portion size was perfect. i didn’t feel bloated after finishing my meal. it had great flavor. the chicken was definitely not dry, which was quite gratifying. wait. have i mentioned the peanut sauce? my gosh. so good. i wanted to lick it off the plate. is thai of silver spring worth going to? yes. just don’t drink the water.

Easily my favorite thai restaurant in MoCo, although the service sometimes leaves something to be desired. It’s also a little pricey for my student budget, but the food so for is unmatched in the MoCO suburbs. My favorite item is the crab fried rice. The pad thai and pad see ew are pretty standard, but not too greasy like some others. The drinks here vary pretty widely, but are mostly delicious most of the time. There’s always parking in the garage across the way, you just might have to go to every floor. And the stairs in front of the restaurant are in dire need of sprucing up(I’ve never tried the elevator). Inside is sometimes frigid, but mostly comfortable, I like sitting in the booths, but the floor seating isn’t too close for my taste. Good date lighting and decent hours for Silver Spring.

In summary, The food here is awesome. The wait staff is awesome. Everything is just… awesome! I love Thai food so I decided to come here for lunch with a friend. For appetizers, we ordered the spring rolls. They were smaller then I expected but delicious nonetheless. I decided to branch out and try something other then my usual Pad Thai or Drunken Noodles and ordered Crabmeat Fried Rice. Ohhhhmergod, the chunks of crabmeat were soo delicioso!!! I honestly don’t know if was authentic crabmeat, but it definitely wasn’t that imitation stuff you usually see in Asian restaurants. My friend had the Pad Thai which had me salivatinnnggg over his plate. I kept hoping he would go to the bathroom so I could steal some off his plate but no such luck. However, the number one reason why I love this place is because the service is so great! I’m a big water drinker so what I’m about to say next has GREAT significance. My cup was NEVER empty. NEVER. Whenever my cup was about halfway, someone was already there refilling it. Mind you, we were sitting outside of the restaurant — not inside near the kitchen or something where someone could easily access our table. I’m a sticker for service so that easily awarded them 5 stars. So that, along with the delicious food will definitely keep me coming back whenever I’m in the mood for some Thai food!

I am a pad thai aficionado. Honestly, I should probably try another dish when I go to Thai restaurants, but nooo… I stick to what I know and love, to a fault. So a few days ago, when I had a craving for chicken pad thai, I took to Unilocal to find a nearby spot for dinner. Located in the heart of downtown Silver Spring, this restaurant fit the bill, so my boyfriend and I dropped by. As an appetizer, we ordered the lettuce wraps. There were three different sauces, which were tasty, as well as chicken and garnishes. It was unlike other lettuce wrap dishes I’ve had in the past, but it was still good. On to the main meal. I ordered the chicken pad thai, and my boyfriend ordered the shrimp pad thai. Both were ehh… I expected better, honestly. The ok food coupled with the ok service makes this establishment a sold three star experience.

Yummy! The best Thai food in the DMV! I have been here several times and every time the service and food has been great! The curries are the best! It’s a very nice spot to grab food with a friend or a dinner date. The location is cool because after eating it’s either shopping at H&M, movie time at the theaters or people watching and enjoying street performers. Very nice location.

This is my go-to Thai restaurant! My usual order is the Pad Thai with tofu, chicken, or beef. Chicken satay, Green papaya salad, and Mango sticky rice(if in season). The Pad Thai is not greasy. Green papaya salad is fresh and crispy. Mango sticky rice is warm and sweet. Oh, I also love the Pad Ka Pow which is my choice of meat with garlic, basil, in a brown sauce. Yummy. Other favorite choices are any of the curries, pad si eww, drunken noodles, and lemon chicken. Atmosphere is clean, friendly, and nicely decorated with Thai décor.

Service is great and food comes out quick. Food is spicy. It ranges from spicy to very spicy. Nonetheless, a cheerful waitress is standing nearby to refill your water, even if you need four refills. No one judges here. I thought the beef in the Nua Num Tok(#14) was a little overcooked. But the green papaya salad(#12) was very fresh-tasting. Would also highly recommend the Tom Kha Chicken soup(#21). Ambiance is weird. The restaurant is one giant open floor. If the floor was full, it might be better. But I’ve never seen it full. Regardless, the staff is friendly and the place is clean. Also, if you love JLo/Christina Aguilera/Mariah Carey, you are in the right place for some delightful dinner music.

Omg the food here is truly amazing! The wine here is truly amazing!.. The service here is incredibly rude :/anything you ask for they kind of have an attitude, you know when people don’t say ok they just walk away. That’s rude right? Lol ok just checking but I always say please and thank you to everybody, my chicken and veggie with pad noodles were so good and my moms shrimp stir fry was delish as well. Too bad the service wasn’t up to par with the food, still 4 stars for food

I ordered the Curry Puffs and Chicken with Cashew Nuts spice level 4. Both were tasty! But the entrée was so spicy that I was sweating by the end of my first bite! I would definitely order it again, just at a spice level 2 or 3. The service was efficient. Within 10 minutes of ordering, my food was on the table. The staff was very friendly as well.

Thai food is thai food. I haven’t yet come across any kind of thai food that absoutely blows me away and really sets itself apart from the places that i’ve been to that offers up unique dishes. The locations is great and I typically make this place my stop before going to the movies. I order the panang and drunken noodles and it’s always tastey and taste the same. One thing I will admit though is I like how when you ask them to make it a little spicer before it comes to you, that they do. I don’t like it when they just bring the spice rack and have that«do it yourself» mentality. This place added the spice in the back. Outside of it being a regular place… they give too much with my water. Which requires constant refilling and me waiting. That’s my biggest complaint… so I think this place is doing alright and will continue to be a place I visit.

I’ve been here twice in the past 3 months and I enjoyed my experience both times. I ate at around the same time both occasions(5:30−6:00ish) and it wasn’t crowded at all. The first time, I got my usual of pineapple fried rice. It is heavenly. It is also a huge portion! What came out to my table was half of a hollowed-out pineapple overflowing with rice. They only drawback was that there were not enough pineapples. The second time around, I got the sweet and sour chicken. My friends got the pad thai(seafood, I believe) and the crab meat rice(not sure exactly what it’s called on the menu). All three of us practically inhaled our food. The space inside is very large and there’s ample seating. It’s also clean to the naked eye, and the tables weren’t sticky or anything. We stayed and chatted for a good bit after we finished our meal and there was no rush or pressure to leave from the staff. This is a great gem in DTSS!
