I have driven past this restaurant for years and yesterday was the first time I decided to order from UBBQ. I ordered a rack of ribs with coleslaw and potato salad and an order of wings! I loved it probably the best orders of wings I’ve ever had. They have an assortment of sauces but my favorite was BBQ yella I swear I could just eat of bowl of this sauce. My rating is on the food and not young man who took my to go order he wasn’t very friendly.

Everything this place sells is absolutely delish. From the meats to the sides to the sauces just yummy. I especially love their soul rolls and their chilli. If you’ve passed by any of their locations and question whether you should give them a chance I say YES! You will not regret it.

Mmm Mmm good! I decided to try them out after reading the reviews here on Unilocal… I tried the Soul Rolls, pulled pork, collard greens and corn bread=scrumptious! Took my boyfriend along, he had the pork ribs w/mac n cheese. He acted a complete fool! Dancing in his seat and licking his fingers! Smdh! We both left with plenty to chow down on for lunch the next day. I give this 2 thumbs up!

Really good! Husband had Chicken Sriracha Sausage and Pulled Pork. He was fond of both. I wasn’t in a meat-eating mood. So, I had the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy. Both were delicious, as was the corn bread. Our friends had a variety of meats and sandwiches. Everyone was pleased. Would like to try some pulled pork next time :)

Food has improved but no where near what it was before new ownership. Portions are a lot smaller now. Service sucks! Walked up to counter and the lady behind it looked at me then turned her back and just ignored me while she did something else. After about two minutes she looks at me and says in a nasty way I’m ready whenever you are. When they called my name only half the order was ready and had to wait 10 minutes more for the other half.

One of the better bar-b-que spots in the DMV that has not gone full-on commercial and stills cares about what their customer think, want and feel. Have tried both the beef and pork ribs and loved them both. Of course the beef ribs are bigger and more hearty than the pork, but I prefer the flavor of the smaller pork ribs with a little extra sauce and a side of Texas toast or cornbread and some hot french fries.

I used to be and still WANT to be a fan of this spot! Pulled pork was tasty, despite the chunk of pure fat in my order. Brisket was a little tough, but still ok. The front desk woman/girl is so unpleasant that I may never return, however. Curt answers, back turned to me while I was talking. Could anyone care any less about my questions or my order? I think the ownership changed last year and perhaps the current owner does not care about word of mouth or return customers. It’s a free country, though. Here’s a tip: You get a lot more love when you spend your money at the Vietnamese restaurant around from the CVS nearby. They have grilled pork on the menu… Back to the Urban BBQ food: Greens have a good flavor even though they are chopped a little too much. Cornbread is yummy. Mashed potato gravy is super. But the service undoes all of the good taste in your mouth. This restaurant might have split from the Urban Bar-B-Que chain that has spots in Rockville and Olney. That could explain the difference in civility.

The chick who works behind the counter, Monica, is one of the most unpleasant human beings I have ever encountered. Her attitude is terrible and she has ZERO customer service skills. My beef ribs were tough and I brought them back to get something different. No apology, no offer for something else, just asked if I was keeping the sides and tried to charge me for them. I sort of get it, but if all you are going to do is throw my side of fries in the trash why can’t I keep it? I will never be back to this location.

Always tasty, however, the cuts of meat are inconsistent… And often disappointing. The first time we went the pulled pork was tender, as was the brisket. The next time, the«pulled pork» was stiffened meat ends. On another visit, my brisket was tough and dry. I really like consistency in a BBQ joint(and I only like tender meats). Their sauces are good, and their sides are tasty(but, when I dish out for good meat… I want the good cuts please.) — it’s not a steak joint… They can see what they are serving up.

Quick service and nice staff but food was meh. Chicken was okay, not great but the pulled pork and mac n cheese was salty. Highlight of my meal was the cole slaw which probably wouldn’t even meet most standards. Famous Dave’s is better than this joint.

Good Pulled Pork sandwiches with decent amount of meat, yummy beans(no they don’t taste like ranch), and tender and yummy collard greens– after you add hot sauce. Didn’t get any cornbread since I’m not a fan of corn chunks in my cornbread, but the size of a piece is pretty big. I definitely recommend this place. Oh and try the sauces you might like them.

The pulled pork is very salty, the fries had no seasoning, and the chicken sausage was unremarkable. It comes out decently quick but the food is not good at all. Even the BBQ sauces are just plain and tasteless. We really need good bbq joints in this area and I really wish these guys would step their game up.

Quick service! the staff were friendly I will admit the wings are fire. However, I found a piece of hair in my mac and cheese no bueno. The staff were like hey who’s hair is this? I was like uh no funny. I left with no refund or nothing I will not be return.

Overpriced Ribs are aiiight, I bet they would be great if they were Fresh, I tired out the soul of egg rolls whatever they are called… if it wasn’t for the picture that Unilocal provided I would of never known they were egg rolls… I would get these again I had originally ordered coleslaw but decided to get mac after a customer exchanged her coleslaw … she said the vinegar was overwhelming. Brisket was cold !!! Mac was ehhhhhh

4.5 stars! I’m a BBQ-lovin girl in a pork-free world and Urban has heard my silent plea. The skies opened and the heavens rejoiced when I learned that they started selling… BEEFRIBS!!! These aint no lil ol short ribs either. I call em brontosaurus ribs because I swear they look like something I’ve seen on the Flintstones! Sharpen your teeth and ready your taste buds because you are in for a TREAT! Thick meaty ribs with a sweet and smoky sauce… YAAAAASSSSSS! You’re gonna need both hands to lift these bad boys, and a good strong set of jaws… oh, and some really good floss for later. The menu varies based on location and so far I think Hillandale is the only one that has them. I personally like to start with some soul rolls(BBQ brisket in an EGGROLL! LAWD!!!) and follow up with a side of mac and cheese… but that’s just me. Make sure that at some point you also try the redneck fondue… you’ll thank me. Surprisingly, they also fry a decent piece of catfish. Who knew? If you’re feeling healthy(ha!) but still have a taste for ‘cue, then the taco salad is just what you need. I’ve tried other BBQ places in the area, but nothing else even comes close!

The service was good. Apparently there’s new owners and it’s been newly renovated. All of that is awesome… The bbq came out of a small plastic bag that appeared to have been microwaved. It wasn’t fresh. It was dry. It was overpriced. Never. Again.

Worst catering experience ever. These guys were 1. 45 minutes late 2. Brought 18 forks & knives when I paid for 25 people to be fed. 3. Brought a salad with bacon on it when I explicitly asked Matt, the manager, for a green vegetable without pork in it. 4. The mac & cheese looks like it was prepared by Kraft.

Ever since I realized there’s an Urban BBQ closer than Rockville a few weeks ago, I’ve been getting my BBQ fix from here. I usually order ahead on the phone and it’s ready for pick up in 10 mins. I haven’t encountered any issues with the staff but I’m usually in and out. The food– still tasty and delicious. The collards with bacon bits are bomb! The wings– bomb. The corn bread with actual corn kernels– warm with a little honey butter good(not bomb, but good). The pulled pork– yes lawd its bomb! Its juicy, flavorful and can put you down for a nap with no problems. I will say the brisket it better at Rockville. The last time I got brisket here it was like they had it sitting in water or something because it fell apart, not like a pulled pork fell apart more of a disintegration due to sitting in a liquid. Still a great place for BBQ near Silver Spring. Even though there is room to sit down, I’d keep it to a pay and pick up operation.(3.5 stars)

Wow. terrible customer service. I got yelled at by a girl behind the counter because I was reading the menu and didn’t know what I wanted to order, specifically she said«what are you doing? you can come up here to order» then proceeds to mumble loudly about how she doesn’t understand people who stand there and won’t come up to the register. Okay, I get you’re working on a Sunday and you’re probably upset but does that mean you have to be rude to your customers? I ordered the pulled chicken and brisket with a side of cole slaw and corn bread. The cornbread is not overly sweet and has pieces of corn in it and is the size of your hand. The brisket and chicken were good but too sweet for my taste. I ended up using the different sauces they had on the table. Coleslaw is more vinegar based than mayo and is more on the savory side. If the same girl is working behind the counter next time, I’m going to walk by to another place. Sorry!
