We visited the Souplantation in Simi Valley yesterday and it was a terrible experience. We brought our parents in who have never been there before. The pasta dishes were either almost empty or dried out from sitting… very unappetizing. The soups are always the same with rarely any changes and the lava cake that is usually there for dessert was missing. This place gets boring really quickly with basically the same foods all the time. There are the rare occasions where you’ll see a different soup or salad but it’s only for a short time. We got to the end of the line to pay and there was no employee there to ring us up, it was dirty with food under the tables, and just an unpleasant experience. We used to come to this restaurant and it was in really good shape but it’s been going downhill for quite some time now. There aren’t enough staff working and things are getting forgotten. We have decided we will not come here again when we can pay the same price and go somewhere else for a much better experience. If Souplantation doesn’t do something about this soon, the business will close… look at all of the bad reviews.

It’s a smaller location with less variety, but all Souplantation(and«Sweet Tomatoes») are good in my book — for under $ 10(excluding a drink), a bevy of items served always consistent and fresh. You know what you’re going to get — SALAD, SOUP, PASTA, and MUFFINS done. Everything is well monitored and maintained. I’m a fan of a good all-you-can-eat(AYCE) salad bar that’s kept just like this, fresh and clean! Q: Is less more? A: Nahh. Bring it on. One extra item just to throw a couple of more hundred calories at ya – non-fat Dreyers Ice cream. Both the vanilla and the chocolate are AWESOME! Tip: If you are on a diet, DONOTGOTOANYBUFFETS. Pssst… but here is a secret: If you have one plate, you will not gain wait. Too much temptation.

Usually we’ve had great experiences at this restaurant, but tonight was not one of them. The wait staff are all very nice, but there was only ONE cook. He was working as fast as he could but it was swimming upstream. So the food stations were mostly empty and there was no one available to replenish them or to wipe down counters, etc. It’s most unappetizing to see old crusty food sitting in near empty containers– doesn’t exactly make you want to pile up your plate, nor would you be able to. The Simi Town Center is really hurting for business, so management, please step up the game and you’ll have the crowds. But no one is going to go out for dinner when it’s messy.

I am writing my first review(that is how bad this place was). The salad bar when you first walk in was mediocre at best. They had no pasta salads or fruit or cottage cheese. They do not make food to order as other locations do(we moved here from Illinois where the Sweet Tomatoes was awesome!) the food was overly bland, dry, overall horrible. The mac n cheese was extremely pasty and just bad. Even the ice cream had extremely little taste. I will not be coming back to this company nor will I recommend this place to anyone ever. STAYAWAY!!!

Like one Unilocaler mentioned; «Nothing good enough to send you back for seconds.» More of a salad place with a few tasteless soups. Everything out of a can or box. 2 and a half stars max. Just ok food. Nothing to write about that’s for sure. Expect to pay about $ 12 with a soft drink. Beware of the extra cost, premium salad toppings and other items. After 3 visits, we won’t be back.

It does not worth it. I have eaten here 2 times. Fist time it was OK, second time was awful. Never again.

I must say, horrible! It started out with the salad and cold pastas. We had to ask for fresh ranch and the cold pasta looked old. We paid, we should have known better by looking at the salad station, but we gave it a shot. Besides the place not looking very clean and dirty booths everywhere. The food was awful! It was 4pm and they had very limited food out. The food that was out, was dried up. The warm pastas, which I wouldn’t touch, looked as though they have been sitting out for hours. The breads were hard, totally not edible. This place is not worth the money. Wake up Simi Valley Souplantaion, we have limited restaurants here. Many have gone out of business due to the way you are running this store. I basically paid 11.00 for a sweet potatoe

We came for the kids. This is the LAST time! Worse than ever. Had to go through 5 spoons to find a clean one. Don’t you have ANY pride? Would give you no stars if it were possible.

It’s a good spot when you have no idea what you want and you’re up for at least a salad. My favorite part is the salad, everything else is hit and miss. Sometimes the hot entrees are good and sometimes you’re done after 2 – 3 bites. Employees are nice and they obviously work hard to keep it clean. To me it all comes down to the lack of memorable food where you’ll think«I can’t get this anywhere else» and I just don’t get that here.

One of the better souplantation locations. Whenever I come here the salad is always fresh as well as the other various choices. Soups always look good, they don’t have that thick film sitting on top indicating it hasn’t been touched in quite some time. Service is always friendly too ! I don’t know if it’s the time I usually come but this place is never busy but it’s nice because the employees are using that time to make sure everything stays fresh. I always come hungry and leave full!

Great food and a good Souplantation location. However watch out for volatile/dangerous customers. We had takeout and jumped ahead to the cash register to pay and was approached by an irate customer threatening us for cutting them! They did not understand how the store works

Fabulous salad bar and a decent selection of soup. I love their blueberry muffins. Not sure what else I can say other than their service has always been great and I enjoy the selections. I am hoping to visit for brunch sometime.

Decided to stop in after visiting Lowes for some home improvement items. I’m used to my Souplantation in Santa Clarita and for what it is, it’s perfectly acceptable. As for this Simi Valley location, not so much. The 2 stars are for the food being acceptable. Not one person ever visited our table to clean away empty plates or see if we needed anything. So, we bussed our own table to a nearby dirty table with other plates, etc. Clearly the male manager couldn’t be disturbed to actually tour the floor to see how poorly it was being maintained. He was too busy going from the register area to stand around and yawn to back at the food prep area to stand and drink whatever beverage he had in his paper cup. I’ve never seen so many employees standing around doing nothing when there was clearly work to be accomplished. Not a way to run a business if you plan to stay in business. My girlfriend and I will not be returning to this location and this is in the town she lives in.

This place was actually very good to come to when you’re hungry. They have freshly made soups and the salad bar is very long with some very good choices. My favorite soup has to be the clam chowder out of all the soups that they make. Other than soup or salad there are not really that many choices to choose from besides macaroni and cheese, focaccia bread with cheese on it like a pizza and ice cream.

As great as this place is I always regret going because I feel like crap after because of how much I eat. The soup is my favorite part but everything is tempting. Quality is ehh, but its buffet style so its not like you would expect anything less. Service is always sub par and they could always be friendlier so that is something to improve on. Overall I will go back at some point but in moderation.

(*Homer Simpson voice*) Mmmmmmmm… Souplantation… This place is definitely Homer good. Healthy greens for miles, chocolate melted brownies for your yogurt/icecream desert, pizza, soups, muffins. ok, ok. I need to stop– I’m drooling again. Seriously, though, I’m a huge fan of Souplantation. When you walk in you’re greeted by a huge salad bar with tons of goodies. Don’t forget the Tuna salad! There is also a huge selection of breads, muffins, soups, pizzas, etc. Something for everyone. The Simi Mall location is large(plenty of seating), clean and well kept up. The employees are always friendly and helpful. There is plenty of parking because it’s at the mall. Overall, this restaurant is one of our favorites in the area. 5 stars!

Yum-love Souplantation ! Honestly kind of pricey for a dinky little buffet place but it’s still really good! The BBQ-ranch salad dressing is so delicious, it’s must try. Best clam chowder ever, even better then the clam chowder in San Fran that I’ve tried ! –baked potato is delish All the other entrees /dessert are just mediocre but what do you expect? It’s fun to come here once in a while, I’ll be back :)

Soup and salad place. You start out making a giant super salad. Then try pizza bites. Get soup of your choice. I always get the clam chowder. There are bread items to choose also, like muffins. They have good strawberry lemonade if you don’t want soda. It’s a healthier meal then fast food. Coupons look for online. It can save you money. Everyone gets them and uses there when available. They just scan my phone most of the time. Takes off like $ 3 or so.

Yes, this is another chain restaurant in Simi Valley, but it is pretty decent place to get lunch. The salad bar has a nice selection of items for your salad. They also offer a few tossed and deli salads as well. They have plain pasta which one of my daughters likes to use to make pasta salad instead of a green salad. There are usually about eight different soups to choose from and these rotate out every couple of weeks, sometimes daily. At least one or two of the soups are vegetarian, vegan, or low fat which is nice if you are trying to eat healthy. You can also get hot pasta dishes or a baked potato with all of the fixings. I enjoy the baked items that they offer especially the different focaccias and muffins. For dessert, there is soft serve ice cream and puddings/mousse to choose from. In the evening, they offer a hot dessert such as hot lava cake. This location is kept fairly clean and when it gets busy, the employees do come out and clean the salad bar and change the soups to make sure they are fresh. The employees are also very friendly and walk around clearing your table as you use your dishes. The one issue I have with Souplantation is that it can get pretty pricey, especially if you add a drink or go for dinner. If you join Club Veg, they send new coupons every week. I will only eat here if I have a coupon because with three or more people it does tend to get expensive. As long as your watch how much salad dressing you use and stay away from high-fat creamy soups and pastas, you can get a healthy meal here that is a cut above a fast food lunch.
