What can I say… Came from LI for my daughters graduation… this was her choice for late lunch prior to the ceremony… I said«a burger bar, are you sure?»…she said«I love it and trust me you will too!»…what the hell it was her day so I called to make a reservation… we were 8 people, coming fromLI, late lunch and on a tight time schedules due to the graduation ceremony. They told me «no, sorry NORESERVATIONS» I explained the situation and that I could not be late… they assured me that it would be fine… They did NOTDISAPPOINT! From the minute we walked in until the moment we walked back in at the end of the night to use the«facilities» they could not have been more pleasant, professional and accommodating… The manager(believe it was Kurt… sorry if I am wrong) waited our table himself… said they only had one server on and that he did not want us to be delayed. The food was amazing… burgers were all cooked to perfection, ingredients were fresh, beer selection was unreal… and our«server»(the Manager), made out special event memorable! THANKYOU! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a «Plan A, B or C»…just get there!!!

I visited Plan B for the second time tonight. I really like the décor and location of the restaurant. The food is always pretty good and worth coming back for. The meat is good quality. However, the service just about put me over the edge tonight. A young lady, Kellie, waited on us. She had 3 tables and somehow forgot about us. We literally waited 20 minutes for a check. I wish that the service was better. I won’t be coming back for a while, if ever.

I like Plan B in Simsbury quite a bit. The location is cool although space inside is at a minimum. The burgers are good but I like the turkey club the best. The wings and tenders are very tasty. And they have tater tots!

Plan B is very cleverly named. We had planned to go to another restaurant in town and ended up at Plan B when the other place’s kitchen was closed. The hours of operation are the best in the area. They have a GREAT selection of beer. The service is friendly and efficient. We ordered the mini cheeseburgers and Parmesan fries which were delicious. The Super Salad was ok. There was mozzarella chunks mixed in with kale and Brussels sprouts walnuts and a sweet dressing. The textures of the salad were an interesting combination. I wasn’t a fan. Lastly the Shepherds Pie. The presentation was gorgeous it excited the eyes. Unfortunately my tastebuds were underwhelmed. Having lived in England I have an idea of what goes into this plate. I have never had it in this style. The meat had nice seasoning, it was mixed in with corn kernels and that is it… no carrots, peas.nothing. Just corn. On top was a gluttonous amount of mashed potatoes and fried onions. It’s served in a small iron cast pot…(so you can’t see what you’re eating) Had I not ordered the salad and pie, I would of given this place a 5 star rating. The burgers, fries and beer were perfect. UPDATE: After posting my initial review, Plan’s B customer service contacted me and let me know that the Shepards Pie I described did not sound right to them. They told me they would be checking in with the kitchen to make sure the recipes are being executed perfectly. I commend them on their quick response and commitment to quality.

The décor in this place is remarkable– one of the best I have ever seen. Housed in Railroad Depot which is a historical site built in 1875, the furnishings scream with creative bliss. We were promptly greeted by a friendly hostess at the door and were seated in the pub area. Food was on spot — truly can not wait to return. Like it better than the other Plan B locations by a landslide.

Second time here and love it. It has that friendly small town feel. I love the bartender and the staff. Food has been great and the mixed drinks are a good poor. Worth the drive over to sims.

I came here twice for lunch while I was visiting family in Simsbury. Even though it was in the middle of the week, there were plenty of people seated in the bar area. My brothers are big burger guys, and this is one of their favorite places to take me for a quick bite to eat. Both times we went the service was great and they had a really good selection of local beers. Each time I come to visit I always have a good experience at Plan B and I look forward to coming back during my next visit.

Unique little location. Their salads are large & the bar area is nice. Not the most friendly waitstaff in the world. I’ll save my visits for B in WeHa or Glastonbury where the foods the same and its served with a smile. Last thing you want to feel like as a customer at a restaurant is an inconvenience!

The burgers are pretty good(the buns are great), and my husband loves the beer selection. I have also had the lobster rolls, which are yummy, and the sweet potato fries are VERY good. I am not a beer person, and the service is not really that great– and even lunch can get pretty pricey. The building is kind of cool — an old train station from my understanding. But it does get pretty noisy.

I used to love Plan B but lately it’s become a back burner place for me. The food is good but has been very hit or miss. Several times I’ve gotten a very over cooked burger and like warm fries which is frustrating because that’s what they do so I feel it should be done well. I won’t write it off but my advice would be to not go in with high expectations. Drink wise they always have a great selection of beer and the vibe is great so if you just are going for drinks it’s a great spot!

Love Plan B — this location is the cutest one! Totally different from the others in the area but still the same GREAT food. As always, I got the veggie burger ‘in the grass’(on a bed of lettuce instead of a bun) and the green fries on the side. The service here is great(you can just tell that the servers love each other and are a ton of fun). My waitress Abby was awesome and so super friendly! She was serving the entire room at lunchtime and never missed a beat. Definitely stop by — there’s something for everyone here!

We love the food at the West Hartford location but the Simsbury Plan B is in an old train station. It’s a cool atmosphere and the downstairs is even more quaint. I do not eat beef but LOVE the Italian Job chicken burger or the Super Kale Salad with grilled chicken.

I give this place 4 stars for the great selection of craft drafts and bottles, the diverse selection of unique appetizers like beef wellington bites, the disco tots and truffle fries, and the cool ambiance of a restaurant nestled inside of an old train station. I’ve only gotten one thing there so far that I haven’t liked which was the duck sliders. The meat was dry and didn’t have great flavor. Otherwise, I recommend this place for anyone looking for good beer and American food with a creative twist.

The tomato jam from the summer farm menu is fantastic! Tomatoes, pesto, and goat cheese on bread — wow! Try the half pork, half beef burger with fried egg and maple syrup. I’d skip the onions next time. Abby was an awesome server and the food came in good time.

Great experience at Plan B last Friday night. I was meeting a friend prior to seeing the«HSO does Queen» show across the street, so we stopped to grab a bite ahead of time. First of all, the location is perfect. It’s in the old train depot and has retained many of the original details. The patio/deck was full when I got there so was not able to sit outside, but it looked comfortable and inviting. I sat at a high top when you first walk in and was lucky to grab it — there was a line forming not long after I got there. The beer list was impressive, although I would like to see more local brews available. I ordered the«Italian Job», the chicken«burger». It came with a side of fries, which were not impressive(I should have swapped them for tots or a salad). The burger, however, was really, really good. My friend had a Philly burger(?) and definitely enjoyed her food as well. The prices here are affordable, the food is good, and the atmosphere alone is worth the trip. I’ve been to other Plan B locations before(Milford and Glastonbury) and this is the best in my opinion.

Yes, there is a glut of great burger places in the area… but if the demand weren’t there, many of them would fizzle out like a wet 4th of July sparkler. Plan B is one of the places that will outlast the other-rans, because their quality of food and service is consistently over the bar. pardon the expression. My wife and I came here on Independance Day weekend, with a massive crowd gathering for an outdoor concert and fireworks. Not only did the burgers come out perfectly cooked, but when the fireworks stated going off, we left the table — we were outdoors — and told the wiatress we would be back. She smiled and nodded, and held our table for us. When we returned everything was in order, and our water glasses were filled. That kind of service you can’t train for. We left, full and happy, with our ears ringing from the pyrotechnics. Can’t wait till we return, and this time it’ll be just for the burgers!

My place of business brings in hundreds of employees to a nearby town every year for training. Whenever I overhear them talking about where they are headed for dinner, it seems that Plan B in Simsbury comes up 50% of the time. Living in Simsbury, I admit that I overlook Plan B, it kind of gets forgotten in favor of the new McLadden’s. Well we went to Plan B tonight and walked in at 5:00. By 5:15 it was packed. Every table –packed, Every barstool — packed. The aisle between the bar and the tables — packed. The entry lobby –packed. We started with an Ace Pumpkin Ale and a Stone Coffee Milk Stout at $ 6.50 each. I liked the Pumpkin Ale– nice, clean, and refreshing. The milk stout reminded me of a Guiness, which isn’t a bad thing, but not quite what I expected. Our meals were a Turkey Club with Tater Tots($ 11.49), and a Spicy Steak Salad($ 14.99). I could not have been happier with the Steak Salad– fresh lettuce, blue cheese crumbles, bacon, onion strings, cherry tomatoes and excellent medium cooked steak slices. It was a terrific dish. I sampled a Tater Tot from my wife’s plate and smiled at how good it was! As for the non-food items, well I didn’t care for the choice or volume of the music. –sounded like thrash metal played way too high. Our server was perfunctory– zero check-backs during the meal. For contrast, I offer you our dinner at Blue Sky in New Hartford the night before, where we had two check-backs. Plan B is a solid choice.
