My wife and I have been spending date night here for years. The food is always good and fresh and we never leave hungry. I’ve never had a bad meal here. However, the other night really was a high spot for me. My son asked for a medium burger that came rare — so we sent it back and asked that it be cooked medium. A simple mistake — no big deal. When the new burger came, the owner delivered it, apologized and even made a correction on the bill for it. I told him he didn’t have to do it — I understand things happen. This is a business that really cares about it customers! I don’t generally give five stars but the service I got warrants it! I have to say, I was impressed on how nice the entire staff was. This is simply a neat little mexican place, with great food and great atmosphere topped off by an incredible staff! Thanks everyone!

Ate there last night. Service was good. Food was good. Not amazing but good. My reviews lost one stars. It lost the start because the prices are very high in my option for the food provided. I got a steak wrap and it was $ 14 dollars. On a previous occasion for take out my bill was $ 19.02 all I had on me was a $ 20 the person working the Reg seemed annoyed at the fact she had to make change. I wanted to jump over the counter and tell her just give me a dollar back if it’s so inconvenient for you. Bottom line if you want to try some where you haven’t eaten yet give it a try you have a good time but is nothing amazing…

I give it a 3.5 because of $ 2 Taco Tuesdays. The Tacos are good and you can order a good portion of rice and beans in a container for $ 2 as well. Burritos sometimes come out dry but it’s not a choir eating them. It’s all relative to your current standards.

I walked past this place quite a few times recently and never thought to walk in… until the other day. OHMAN! Their food is fantastic and their portions make the prices worth it. The chips and salsa are addicting, the meat is perfectly tender, and everything is extremely flavorful. I even returned to pick up food today. The inside is pleasantly decorated, the staff is friendly, and the wait time is minimal. Stop on through! You’ll thank yourself!

Cute looking place on the inside. I can’t believe I’ve never been here until now. I wish the food was as good as the décor. Salsa and chips. Nothing to write home about. I like fresh, piping hot tortilla chips and these were not. Salsa was just ok, kinda bland. Dinner: Pollo Sanchez. Grilled chicken, chorizo, peppers, onions, garlic, and a side of rice. The chicken was nicely grilled with a good flavor. It had a lot of chopped garlic and a garlic/oil sauce. Rice was standard, nothing special. I had to add some hot sauce to it. The chorizo was minimal and cut into small pieces. Would’ve been nice if they were cooked longer. This dish was mediocre, nothing special. Would make for a better lunch item and maybe some sour cream, guacamole or something on the side. Shrimp burrito. Big rice, and baby shrimp filled burrito. My guest enjoyed it. It came with chips on the side but it looked funny because there were like 6 chips that looked just thrown into the plate and like they didn’t belong. I had the pumpkin colada, our server said it is «sooo good». Don’t bother getting it. It was literally a piña colada with cinnamon sprinkled on top and a little bit of a cinnamon flavor taste to the drink overall. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. M I’d go to Baja Grill again and give this place another shot but just for lunch and I’d try something different.

Walking into the Baja I wasn’t sure of what to do… Kind of an awkward arrangement but once seated, go for the margaritas which are delicious and always 2 for 1. Great tacos and good salsa give way to just alright quesadillas. Overall good an cheap. Great friendly service when I stopped in with an old friend

Just tried out this placed recently and I enjoyed my experience. I visited on a Tuesday and apparently they have $ 2 Taco Tuesdays, so I was able to enjoy 3 tacos on the cheap. The waitress started my wife and I off with free nachos and salsa and I noticed the drink menu prices seemed reasonable, but I opted to pass on alcohol this time around. I ordered the steak & fried onion taco, the shrimp taco, and the fish taco. Each one was pretty darn good but they put a special mildly spicy sauce on the fish taco that I loved. My only gripe was that there was not enough meat per taco so I yanked off a star. Otherwise, I left very satisfied and will definitely be a repeat customer. =)

Went to Baja on a Saturday afternoon(between lunch and dinner). My girlfriend and I were the only 2 people in the entire restaurant! It’s not a knock on the place, I just feel like it needs to be pointed out. Since Baja has 2 for 1 margs for $ 6.99, why not give it a try?! Little did we know, the drinks were made from Jose Cuervo pre-made margarita mix. I was pretty disappointed, but the price of drinks should’ve been a red flag. Naturally, the margs were overly sweet and lacked a punch. Since neither of us were overly hungry, we ordered the chicken nachos and baja quesadilla off the app menu. Both portions were MASSIVE. The nachos were pretty burnt, and the quesadilla was overfilled/falling apart. Beside the design flaws, the food was pretty good. With it’s prime location and great theme, Baja has the potential to be a great restaurant. Main St. in Smithtown could really use a solid Tex-Mex eatery, but the small details keep this place from flourishing.

I ordered one of their higher priced entrees and sure enough the cook was cutting corners and used canned mushrooms. Yes, they were rubbery and tasteless. There is no excuse. The calamari wrap is very good but most everything else is just fair.

Definitely worth stopping in when you are in Smithtown. The honey BBQ chicken wings were great. Atmosphere was very colorful and vibrant.

Hands down the best Mexican I’ve had since moving to Long Island two years ago. Everything is very fresh and the meat is marinated well. I highly suggest anything with their pineapple salsa. Small knock for the wait time when you eat in but it’s definitely worth it!

Good fresh Mexican food at decent prices. Good location for a pre-theatre meal too(Smithtown Theatre is about a block away). The only down side to this place is that it can get crazy busy especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

Baja is one of my favorite restaurants because I grew up going here. I love their wraps. I always get the Smoking Chicken Wrap because the sauce is incredible. Their curly fries are yummy and I love the endless chips and salsa bowls. Their wraps are the largest wraps I have eaten, and I love their take out! The décor is cute, I love the hightop tables, lights, and mosiac look. It is a perfect date night spot. Their service is also very fast, which I like, but many people don’t.

Tex /Mex Great little place in the heart of Smithtown serving up some decent Tex/Mex items at decent prices. My girl told me about the place and we have been coming here ever since and never really had a bad experience. Decent beers that change often are available, if you are a beer person — and not too shabby margaritas as well. I generally stick with the margaritas. Service is very good– the people working here are always happy and pleasant and the menu selection is good; a lot of your standard items but not too far into the Mexican side of things. You can get some big burritos here and they have a lot of wraps and quesadillas. I generally just go with Tacos del Abuelo though. They also run specials like Taco Tuesday and there are some Prix fixe nights as well. Definitely a go-to if you are craving these types of food and want something casual — they also do a banging take-out. Parking in the front in the shopping center lot.

The calamari is a huge gotta get! Nothing healthy in the menu :/everything is deep fried and cheesy. Compared to salsa salsa this place has shitter quality of food.

The food here is consistently good. Service quality is a little up and down though. They do offer a gluten free menu — they have a separate grill for these items, but you need to explain to some of the waitstaff what gluten free is. If you order an item which is considered gluten free(corn tortillas), but do not mention gluten free, the meal will be cooked on the regular grill and there will be cross contamination. Overall good food, but questionable service at times.
