Firstly, men’s haircuts are about $ 15.00 so the Unilocal«$$$» should be «$» for men’s haircuts. Secondly, I started going to this Supercuts around 2011 and would almost always get the same cut: #4 buzz in the back and sides blended up to a crown cut just short enough that the hair wouldn’t stand up(or, sometimes, so it would). It’s a cut so simple I could do it to someone else. I got to know 2 – 3 stylists who seemed to be there when I was most likely to show up as a walk-in. When I first started coming here I would almost always be third in line but the wait was relatively short(15 – 20 mins. between 9 – 5 on a weekday). Then, starting around late 2013, I would notice, a day or so after a cut, there would be small sections(clumps of 20 or so strands) of hair that weren’t cut even with the rest. Or one side wasn’t symmetrical with the other(just a tad longer or lopsided). I don’t know why this isn’t noticeable right away… does the hair«relax» or something soon after being cut? Anyway, it became the norm that I would do some snipping after each haircut. I would rarely get the same stylist as it also became the norm that a stylist I would call ahead for«no longer worked there». For $ 20(cut + tip) I didn’t care if I had to do a little touch-up. I just wanted low maintenance style and am not vain about how I look. This place is close to home and never busy when I show up during a weekday. It didn’t occur to me to wonder why is it never busy when I showed up? It became the norm for there to be one or two stylists, myself, and maybe one other customer. It had used to be busy no matter when I showed up. The last time I was there I asked for something other than a #4 blended to a short crown. Instead, I wanted the length to follow my hairline in the back, the bangs a little over half-way down my forehead(so it could be combed straight back), and the top 1⁄3 of my ears covered when the sides are combed back. Again, for some reason, I didn’t notice any problem for a day or so. Then, it became obvious, I had a layer of hair that had a distinctive«bowl cut» going around my head level with the top of my ears and my bangs were cut at a slight(3/8″) diagonal with one side of my head having hair about ½”-5/8″ longer than the other side. Also, because I have thick hair, it was obvious there was no thinning or blended layering at all. Take a look at the Beatles in 1964… that’s what I got superimposed on top of longer hair underneath and all cock-eyed. That was around the end of March 2016. Like I said above, the outcomes have been getting sloppier and sloppier no matter which stylist I have, I’m usually the only customer there during a weekday, stylists seem to come and go too much to bother with names, and this last cut was so poorly executed I think it’s time to move on(both me and this Supercuts).

There are Supercuts and there arw Supercuts. I have been a customer of other branches and have never been treated with as much neglect and disrespect as today. I understand busy, but some courtesy should be due a customer about to pay for their services. When i arrived there were 3 staff and 2 customers in the chairs and one customer waiting. I got a quick ‘it’ll be a bit’ without taking my name. I wait for 30 minutes while the staff finish and take customers that come in after me without speaking to me. When I finally get a word from a staff member it’s that I’d have to be wait even longer(and still did not ask my name as customarily done in every Supercut I’ve been in the past 15 years)

When the customer tells the hair cutter not to cut it too short, the hair cutter needs to listen, not get defensive and become insulting. This sums up my last experience. I’ll take my money elsewhere, to someone who knows how to listen and is respectful to their customers. A side note: No one needs to be asked three times during the course of their visit if they need any hair products. Perhaps they should focus more on proper treatment of customers than upfront sales.

If this review of was based solely on my last visit I would give a 5 star rating. However, I have been getting my hair cut here for years a and I find them to be very inconsistent. They do no hold on to their hairdressers for very long. The only reasons I go is because it is close by and cheap.

I had been wanting a specific haircut that’s not very common. Its like a pixie on one side so only about one inch long but the other side is long enough to touch my boobs and the back is a downward graduation slope from short to long. Well, I went to 4 places and asked if they could do that cut but everyone freaked out nervously and said they didn’t want to mess up my hair and upset me because they didn’t know how to do it. Well one place in Ronkonkoma offered for me to come back in a few days because they had faith in ONE particular girl that worked there to pull it off. I made that appt but didn’t feel like waiting a few days. So when I happened upon SuperCuts in Smithtown I explained what I wanted and Rachel offered to see me right away. She was friendly and confident even though she just graduated from hair school in 2013 and she cut my hair as I explained even though some of the people I talked to during my quest to find a snipper have been doing hair since Farrah Faucetts wing style hair was the latest trend but they were too nervous to try something new. Also it was only $ 15.99 since I didn’t get a blowout. And they were warm and accommodating about me coming in close to closing time. Good for you Super Cuts, for stellar employees giving you a good name, and thank you Rachel!

Update. I also had Farhad touch up my color & continue to fix my hair from the disaster cut I had months ago! She did highlights and angled bob — to the best of her ability as my hair needs to grow back in. Unbelievable that I was too embarrassed to ask for a new person Supercuts Farhad & Rosa are the two best here, actually I shouldn’t say that as I have never had Ana, Rachel or the other hairdressers do my hair… They have an Apple App so you can make appointment and or see who’s working that day. It only works on a daily basis though, but I like the feature…

So I wake up and check what time Supercuts opens so that I can get my haircut before work. Low and behold, they open at 9 am which is perfect for me. I get there around 9:05 but they are still closed, then an employee(of middle eastern descent) goes in and turns the sign to open. I come in about a minute or two after and she turns around looking at me like I have done something seriously wrong, she asks«yes?». I say … «uhh yeah, I’m here for a haircut», so she tells me to coke back in about 15 minutes for her to get ready. sorry but if you can’t even open your doors on time or even have things ready for when you come in late, you lose my business. I found a great hair cutter in Commack instead and am extremely happy with it.

Went there a couple of weeks ago for a quick blow dry, had to pay $ 42 for hair wash and blow dry! Are you kidding me?! I have hair wash, haircut and blow dry on Manhattan for $ 30 in a salon much better than this Super Cuts with much more skillful personnel! Low value for money and too pricey! I will never go there again!
