Lotus Xpress

Best take-​out Asian in Somerville or Cambridge. Dine-​in isn’t fancy, but the staff is chill and they’re great with kids. We’ve been coming here for years, and it was our best-​kept secret. Looks like the secret is out! Good for these guys; they deserve it.

Dined in once. Ordered for delivery once.
Dine in there was to me what looked like an eyelash on my plate. They gave me a full refund for that. Without arguing. They were super polite and offered to remake it. Otherwise, it was
was pineapple and shrimp. i also had wonton soup. also delicious.
For delivery I had spicy tofu and chicken. Very yummy.
They gave us two serving of sticky rice rather than the brown rice my fiancé wanted. But they said they’d double our rice no charge next time.
Initially I wasn’t upset about the eyelash. It’s not like u can make a cook wear a full net mask.
But the getting the wrong order gets annoying. I will still eat food from here!!! It’s too delicious to give up so far

Been having delivery from Lotus Express since it opened, unfortunately quality and service has decreased. Order the appetizer plate with the boneless spareribs. In the past the spare ribs would be overflowing the «side» portion of the take out container. Tonight there were about 5 shards of ribs included (and 2 of them inedible). This amount barely would cover the side portion of the container. When i called back to complain the response was our costs have gone up, so that is what it is.

We have now eaten here 3 times and everything has been fabulous. The staff is very friendly and so helpful. The General Gao’s is very well prepared. The last time I had the Pineapple Shrimp and I really liked the sauce on that. They do cater to take out, and they have a few tables to eat in. The place is clean and friendly. Nice menu of Asian fusion. We will be back to try other dishes

It has been a favorite restaurant for my daughter and her friends who almost always ask me to take them here. The food is fresh. Prices are reasonable. The stuff are friendly. It just comes to my mind that we have never paid tips, as we treated like a take out place even though we usually eat in the restaurant. I am feeling guilty.

Some of the best delivery sushi I have ever had. We just moved to Medford (aka «too far for Genki Ya to deliver») and had to find a new take out go-​to. We did our research, and this place was an overwhelming favorite for both my husband and I.
The wonton soup with their homemade wontons is BOMB, and as a spicy tuna lover, the pineapple Xpress maki is incredible. They have great «two roll» and «three roll» combos which my husband loves. The only thing I would skip (which I usually love) are the gyoza (too doughy for my taste) but that just leaves more opportunity for crab rangoon so that’s fine ;)

First timer and was definitely satisfied. The restaurant caters more towards delivery and take out but if you are dining in (as I did) the people are friendly and attentive. The food was great an came out fast and hot. I look forward to coming back and trying the sushi from what others were eating it looked delicious

This was my first time coming here and I really enjoyed it! Myself and a friend dined in, and it’s counter service with service to the table.
They seemed to definitely cater to take out/​delivery as opposed to dining in, but that’s fine. The food came out extremely fast, and everything was delicious!
We ordered crab rangoon, hot and sour soup, sweet and sour chicken, and pad Thai. All was great and we left happy!

Man, I really liked this place. I’ve been going here for about two years — convenient location with a parking lot, speedy/​accurate service, and good food. What I liked most is that it had a great menu for Asian fusion — serving both sushi and those fattier Chinese dishes we all love — so hard to find around here!
However, the last time I went, one of the employees was wearing a «Make America Great Again» cap. Umm… errr…not sure if it was ironic or not. Shoot.

I ordered from this place through GrubHub last night for the first time. Here are some impressions:

1. The quality of the food is average at best. I had the sesame orange chicken (which came with a tiny side of rice), crab rangoon and scallion pancakes. The whole dish tasted OLD.
a. The sesame orange chicken was soggy and soft, I could see pieces of skin floating around the sauce — not appetizing. The sauce was watery and overly sweet. This dish also contained broccoli, which was soggy and soft as well.
b. The crab rangoon and scallion pancakes were average, I’ve had the same or better at numerous Chinese food places.
c. The tiny side of rice was tiny and also average.
I am not planning to order from here again any time soon.

This is literally the first bad review I’ve ever felt compelled to write. I ordered the spicy miso beef ramen soup and it was disgusting. It wasn’t even spicy, the noodles were too soggy even before adding them into the soup, and the beef tasted like it had been days old. I EVEN FOUND A BUG IN MY SOUP AND POSTED A PICTURE AS PROOF. So not worth the $ 10. Too expensive. My friend ordered Pad Thai and it didn’t even have any vegetables when it clearly says there are vegetables. AND YOU KNOW WHAT’S RIDICULOUS? – the fortune cookies they gave us were stale. Like, come on?! I’m pretty sure they gave us days-​old food. DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE!

Had an absolutely fantastic experience dining in at this place. There were few other customers on a Saturday night which leads me to believe they do most of their business over takeout… But I’d definitely come back to the actual restaurant. The décor is modern and clean, *much* nicer than the typical takeout-​oriented restaurant at this price point. Very friendly and helpful staff… you normally order at the counter but when I walked in with a toddler they immediately got a high chair out and offered to take my order at the table.
Minus one star for the food itself… It was pretty good but didn’t knock my socks off. Definitely fresher then usual Chinese or Thai takeout but just not 5 stars worthy. In all I’ll definitely be back.

I’ve driven by Lotus Express many times, and always thought, it looks nice I should give it a try. Famous last words… There’s something about the chopsticks in their logo that I liked. I walked in to find a very clean very modern counter service restaurant. The seating was somewhat limited but there was plenty of seating available, I was surprised it wasn’t all that busy. I ordered the orange sesame chicken with vegetable fried rice and dumplings. The food was great, the presentation was great, and it even came on a real plate. No plastic or Styrofoam here. I really enjoyed it and will be back again.

Everything tasted incredibly fresh! I had the chicken with black bean sauce, brown rice, and a vegetable spring roll (lunch special, $ 9). Spring roll stood out immediately as most spring rolls at chinese restaurants have at least a small hint of freezer burn. But not this one! Tasted like it was just rolled, fried, and then immediately served to me. Brown rice perfectly prepared, and chicken had excellent flavor but just a tad on the salty side for my taste.
Very clean restaurant as well – a big plus.

It has the best spicy chicken. The drunken noodles is also amazing. The food is excellent. The customer service is also excellent! The place is consistent in delivering top quality food without compromising in its taste. Whether you want Chinese/​Japanese, it always delivers.
You cannot go wrong with this place, the owner also prepare the food from their heart! Cannot wait to come back!!!

Stopped by today for lunch with a few friends and I was immediately impressed with how clean this place was!
There are about 5 – 6 small tables and a bar facing the street.
The menu has everything from Thai, Chinese, and sushi, with a number of beef, chicken, and fish options.
I went with the Orange Sesame Chicken – normally 9.25, but I ordered the lunch combo for 8.25 which included veggie fried rice and a choice of appetizer (spring roll, dumpling, or crab rangoon – I went with crab rangoon).
The food came in 5 minutes or less and the presentation was really impressive – the appetizers came on little individual dishes and the rice was arranged nicely.
The chicken was tender and some pieces were crispy on the outside. The sauce was thick, sweet, and very rich.
The rice was a nice texture but a bit dry (however, it may have just felt like that because I’m used to oily rice…)
I LOVED the crab rangoon. It was perfectly crisp and so tasty – also incredibly filling. 3 hours later and I can’t imagine being hungry anytime soon.
The service was excellent: very responsive and quick.

I am adding a star because they really seem to want to get it right. I’ve had the awkward — you’re the guy from Unilocal conversation — give us another chance. I really do appreciate that. They were to replace the celery with broccoli (I had done this once before when my neighbor ordered and they actually got it right) but instead I got both celery and broccoli.
Basically — if you like celery, then this is your place to order from. Their celery is fresh and they to give you liberal portions.
Now that Zoes is back, I’ll stick with them because they have never f’d my order up.
PS — I swear I am not crazy!

Szechuan spicy beef was a boss! Not for people sensitive to spicy food. It’s has a really nice kick and the veggies were cooked to perfection.
Crab Rangoons were cream cheesy and crispy. The crab was… hell I don’t know.
Pork Dumplings. Delicious and nutritious. Probably not nutritious but they were yummy. If ordering take out, you should probably heat them up again before devouring.
Delivery: I got a estimate of 45min — an hour. Got here in 38min. (Monday night)
Nothing bad to say about this place and they’ll be hearing from me again!
