My friend was told by a *hostess* upon entering to seat himself, which he did. this was roughly 10pm, and sat in the pool table section. Not once did anyone come, after 20 minutes, so I asked an employee who told me a server would be right over. Ten minutes later, as we grew hungrier and thirstier, I approached the same employee, and requested service again, not unreasonable, I feel, after having been seated for 30 minutes, right? Nothing happened for another 10 minutes. So I approached a server who said that they stopped serving that section at 10pm — wish I had been told that from the jump. Was told at 10:50 that the kitchen was closed, even though I had been told that the kitchen closed at 11. Unprofessional, non-comunicative staff, who, for reasons I will not mention because I myself, am a professional, ruined a night of mine. Never coming back

One of the best places I’ve found for steel tip darts in the area(bring your own darts and they’ve got two boards). Also, it’s hard to beat 20 wings and a pitcher of beer for $ 20!

Chris, the owner’s son, flawlessly exemplifies the definition of the term«tool». Thanks, Chris, for your clumsy customer service and your gratuitous complaints about the tips your working class customers generously dump on your bar in spite of all the inconsistent service and overpriced pool. I just feel bad for the owner – I love this bar and it is painful for me to see Chris, the owner’s son, treat local customers so poorly.

I discovered this place when I went to watch the patriots at old mcgouns saloon, but it was too crowded to get a table. We made our way over to tavern on the hill. It looks unimpressive from the outside but WOWDOTHEYHAVEINCREDIBLEBONEINWINGS! Like moist and crispy and just to die for. It’s an unassuming atmosphere, your typical sports bar but damn those wings keep me coming back. Also cheap pitchers !!

Love this bar. Awesome low key place with lots of tvs and cheap pitchers of beer. Good to go w/big groups or solo. And you can’t beat the $ 20 pitcher of beer and 20 wings special!

Awesome Local bar. The Pitchers and Food are cheap and its the perfect place to come during the NFL Season. Every TV has a different game on and perfect spot to come in, spend 20 bucks on their Pitcher and large wings combo, and enjoy. The Grilled Honey Buffalo wings are to Die for… I get them every single time!

The local bar where everyone remembers you. Always a good time. You can’t go wrong with the food choices here. The drinks are cheap and strong. Definitely a good place to meet sociable people if you’re bored and looking for something to do.

Came here for the first time to check out my local bar and watch the women’s world cup. My girlfriend and I sat down at the bar and the bar tender didn’t ask us once if we wanted anything. After 6 minutes(we were looking at our watches after a while…) we had to ask the bartender ourselves for a drink. Let me remind you that the bar was not full or busy, only 12 people sitting at the bar(including ourselves) and there were still 4 empty seats. When we got our drinks we asked for menus and it took him 18 minutes after that to ask if we wanted anything to eat. Meanwhile, on the corner of the bar directly in front of us there were dirty glasses, and empty pitcher, a spray bottle and dirty rag. Nobody bothered to clear that out from in front of us and the waitress actually added dirty glasses to the stack while we were there. I’m aware it’s a local dive bar, I wasn’t expecting anything exceptional, but come on. This was horrible. I will not be going back.

Totally awesome joint to hang early or late. Unassuming place that is comfortable, warm and has plenty of space. A pool table beckons as do multiple flat screens. Excellent bar pizza. Burn your mouth hot. Melty cheese. Reasonable priced drinks, friendly service. Excellent wings. Across the street from cvs so when you’re drunk and feeling good, you can wander across broadway, hopefully make it to to the other side, and buy some drugs to make your head feel better on the way home.

I would give this place a 3 ½. I like it has good atmosphere, and nice ppl. I have not been there that any fights have broken out. They have 3 pool tables, a basket ball hoop thing, and a few other arcade games. Its a nice lil hang out spot. They serve my Guinness cheap which is refreshing for a Guinness drinker, if you like Guinness you know how expensive it could be. Negatives: The bathrooms are tiny They take for ever to clean off tables. The waitresses aren’t to attentive Other than that I like it. Its def my new go to spot.

Great drinks, solid food, fun staff, what more can you ask for in a local bar? This place has basically been our savior in the recent winter storms when the liquor has run out. The food is surprisingly good. The steak tips are tender and have great flavor, the appetizers are wonderful, and I even ordered a hot dog and it was delicious(don’t judge me, I may have had a few martinis). TVs everywhere, trivia on Tuesday and I am sure there are other events that I don’t know about. Its very clean, and you can see into the kitchen which I always appreciate. Great place!

A sports bar. Nothing too exotic. But wow the food kicks ass! Steak tips and wings are beyond great!

Great spot for Sunday football. That is the extent of my experience but I can assume it’s a good time all the time. Good barkeeps, decent menu and plenty of variety on the taps. Also, Sunday ticket and enough TVs to have every NFL game on and then some. They will put on any game you want and accommodate everyone there.

Fun bar. I like this place. I’ll be back. Outside of the washrooms it’s a clean place with cold beer and friendly bartenders.

On The Hill Tavern is my favorite bar to frequent in Somerville. Cheap pitchers, great food, and plenty of TVs in a low-key, comfortable atmosphere. Not to mention pool tables and a basketball machine which I can’t help playing every time I end up here. I also decided to rent the pool table area for a few hours on a Saturday night to throw a surprise 30th birthday party for my girlfriend. It was so easy to plan with the staff at OTH Tavern, and very reasonably priced for a gathering of 40 – 50 people. Everything turned out great and solidified this bar at the top of my list for bars in Somerville.

This is a weird place. I mean, on my one visit here, I had a good time, but I think that was because I had enough cheap beer that by midnight, I didn’t care. The strangest thing I noticed when walking in here was that it was very bright for a bar. It was Last Call bright in there at like 10:30 in the evening. I feel like at 2 they just blast a spotlight in everyone’s eyes to force them, staggering out the door. Simply put, this is a townie bar. Based on the location, that shouldn’t be too surprising, but I feel like you’re only really supposed to come here if you were born within stumbling distance of the door. Everyone I talked to was nice, and reminded me a lot of the people I grew up with in Maine, but then, drowning my social anxieties in cheap beer is the only way I fit in with people in my hometown, too. I walked in with 3 female friends, and some of the people in On the Hill Tavern assumed that I was a swinger, and I would be going home with all 3 of them at the end of the night. I think says a lot about the crowd at this place. …like maybe it’s a crowd I need to hang out with a little more, just to see how strange it gets.

We came here specifically because On The Hill is one of the few remaining places in Somerville with a Golden Tee video game, as well as to have a few drinks. We had a good time. On The Hill is like 4 places spliced together: dining, bar, bistro, and pool hall — something for everybody. Good beer list. It was lively without being loud, even on a busy night. Best place for parking is the metered area next to CVS across the street.

Mike is no longer the trivia guy. We had some new guy last night who had very little personality, talked WAY too loud and even said that even though the trivia night is sports and entertainment, 90% of it would be sports questions. Did not bode with with the trivia regulars and I am really disappointed. I don’t think I want to go back for trivia because 90% sports is not cool. We need more entertainment! Also, the menu has changed and I’m not sure if it’s for the better. They kept the steak tips but added some different stuff and I just don’t know if it’s going to last. I have to take a star away from that. Still have great service though but they are losing a star for trivia guy from last night(7.11.12).

Typical townie bar, good and some bad The strength of your drinks ’pends on the bar-keep you had. Seat-finding options surprisingly fair Have found a barstool or table on both times I was there. Pricing on beverages excellent, too. Only 13 dolares for me, you, and you. Food aint bad either, standard pub grub. Nachos and french fries and crap that I love. Ambiance? Excellent Relaxed, lots of fun Pool Tables, Good Crowds Stuff for everyone. Cover, there is none, Keno, there is. If they can lose one bartender* They’d always get my biz. *(not in verse: he makes weak drinks! wah)
