We just visited Repris Vineyard at this location– and it was amazing. You must call in advance for a tour– and there is a charge– but it is worth it. We spent 2 hours with Skip– touring the cave and enjoying barrel tasting– then a tour of the property– then a relaxing close tasting more wine with excellent cheese accompanying. I highly recommend — and the wine is outstanding.

They are closing their tasting room as of today. I’m sad to see one of my top wineries in Sonoma County close. They will continue to produce wine, just not have a tasting room. Located on the Sonoma side of Mount Veeder at 2,000 ft elevation. Its about a 2 mile drive up the mountain to an isolated and surreal area. There is mountainous viticulture all around you. They produce all five Bordeaux’s and they do it fantastically. My favorite wines are their: 2006 Sonoma Valley Malbec 2005 Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 Sonoma Valley Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Creek Vnyd Johanna is fantastic and really knows a lot about winemaking. Their tastings always included a cave tour and barrel sampling. Cannot wait for their 2008 Dynamite Cabernet Sauvginon! Hope to continue to enjoy their wines even if I can’t go to their winery anymore. Thanks for the good years!

Our experience at Moon Mountain was wonderful. This may be a small winery, but the wine and service was fantastic. You have to make a reservation but that works to your advantage as the group stays small because of it. With eight people in our party, the tasting and tour ended up being private. The explanation of the organic efforts and tour of the natural cave was really interesting and unique. They also offered a cheese paring that went really nicely with the wine. We enjoyed the reds so much we joined the wine club. Bravo!

Great wine! Went this past week, and have to say the views are stunning. If you like visiting the wine region, this is a must for views alone. Great little drive up to the vineyard. We arrived and were a little disappointed that they were not giving tours. We read glowing reviews of the hike and really wanted to do it. Instead we did the wine tasting only. The wine was great. I especially loved the port. Different kind of taste, almost light. The history of the winery was told to us, as well as the meaning of the label, as well as a history of the region. Really great stuff.

My favorite winery. This is a small winery and you actually have to make a reservation for a tasting. The nice thing is this results in a small tasting/tour group. 6 – 8 people both times I have been there. The scenery is really amazing. You drive up a twisty mountain road with some real scenic overlooks. The tasting includes a tour of the natural caves on the property where the wines age in barrels. The wine here is really amazing. For those who care, the grapes are organically grown.

I just did the hike through their winery on Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It was fantastic! Johanna is great and very knowledgeable about the winery. The hike itself was challenging so beware, especially if you haven’t exercised in awhile but we took many breaks on the way up and Jo provided a lot of history of the winery, which was great. I thought I was going to die about half way up the mountain, but once we got to the top… Fantastic! Amazing! Once at the top, we had white wine tasting with fruit, cheese & crackers & socialized with the group. About 11 a.m. we hiked back down and had a gourmet picnic lunch at the Vineyard House, including red wine tasting. Chris Greenwald, chef of Bay Laurel Culinary catered the event. The menu was grilled chicken, fresh vegetables, salad, and chocolate brownies. It was great and I would highly recommend the caterer. After lunch we hiked back to the winery for a tour of the caves and barrel tasting. Port tasting at the winery was also available before we left. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Moon Mountain or anyone who loves a challenging hike with beautiful scenery. This winery is still one of my favorite things to do in Wine Country.

One of the best ‘smaller’ wineries I’ve ever been too. Beautiful grounds and layout, friendly, laid back environment, and tastings/tours by appointment only(read: no annoying crush of humanity smashing into the winery all day, non-stop). Ask for Johanna!

I’ve been to this winery at least 10 times in the last 4 years and it has been one of my favorites for the wine(malbec and syrahs) and the grounds. The winery is beautiful, the scene is amazing and they have a great wine cave. The staff hada lways been amazing and friendly and I really enjoy that you have the whole winery to yourself… but I’ll never go back. My most recent trip to the winery was a terrible experience. We booked a private tour for a group and were welcomed upon our arrival; however, we were never allowed to taste. The host was running late with another group and by the time she got around to us(30 minutes late) she blamed us for not understanding the nature of our reservation. Long story short, it was a terrible experience, she was rude and flat out lied to us. She refused to acknowledge her part in this experience and left us outside with no wine and nothing to do. Then she sped away in her Mercedes Convertible. As much as I love(d) this place, I will never go back due to this experience. They lied to me and pretty much ruined what was heading to be a great birthday celebration.

Beautiful place to be to sip wine and enjoy the view. It is a winery that is off the beaten path, but well worth the drive. It is by appointment only, so call ahead. I called at 11am and got an appointment for 2:30 that same day. The staff is so friendly and the taste/tour begins with multiple tastings and then a brief look around the caves with a barrel tasting. I enjoyed the Cabernet Franc and the Port the best. Many of the blended reds were quite tasty as well. Our group spent alot of time not just enjoying the wines, but walking around the grounds to take in the views of the hillsides below. A must see.

This place isn’t as accessible as the amusement park wineries that are on the top of everyone’s list. In fact, I think you have to book a private group to get in, taste and tour but if you can pull it off, it’s totally worth it. We went with a group for a birthday(with limo in tow) and this stop was the highlight of the whole day. The staff is amazingly friendly and inspiring and the tour is hands down the best I’ve ever been on. Moon Mountain has pretty cool history and is in an amazing location with beautiful facilities. They embrace organic-ism(yeah whatever) more than any other winery I’ve visited and it’s all pretty cool to learn about. Oh, and the wine ain’t bad either. For sure the best winery tour/tasting I’ve ever been on.

Nice red wines grown on the hilltop with near organic techniques. The syrah is very good and the cabernet sauvignon is usually blended nicely. In general their red wine tends to be rich in flavor with a nice finish. It is the only winery I have joined as a club member. It is a bit of a drive to get to so you have to give yourself extra time.
