Love this restaurant! They have delicious chow fun. Shrimp dishes I’ve ordered are always perfectly cooked, not overdone. The prices are excellent, too!

I’ve always been fond of Mings. Great egg fu yung and crispy chicken. But after my last dinner order from them I probably won’t order again. I called in an order to go for four different dishes. Chow Mein, Sweet/Sour Pork, Lemon Chicken, Hunan Beef. I should have known that something wasn’t going to be right when they said it would be ready in 10 minutes. The food was old, overcooked and tasteless. It was obviously prepared much earlier in the day. I understand the need to pre-prepare some of the popular dishes, but this wasn’t the least bit fresh or appetizing. It was terrible. In addition, I found a small black curly hair in the container of sweet/sour sauce. Gross. I think I just threw up in my mouth a bit.

The food is plentiful and I’m always leaving with a box and spending less than 30 bucks. The staff is kind and checks in rather frequently… maybe awkwardly… but that’s better than infrequently! A ‘for two’ combo and an extra plate is what we do, it is probably what you should do.

Go to Panda Express — it’s close by and way better. Dishes were watery, not very flavorful and the dumplings were thick-doughed.

Customer service goes a long way. It doesn’t matter if you are dining at a casual restaurant, a sports bar, hole in a wall, etc. because the expectations are there. Depending on where you go, the bar to reach either goes higher or lower. I did not raise the bar high once I stepped in but the lady here blew me away right after my order was placed. The lunch combos are cheap and the menu itself isn’t expensive. The lunch combo is a real steal because the plate consist of your entrée, steamed rice or BBQ pork fried rice, soup(either hot and sour or wonton), and an egg roll. Skip the egg roll. The wonton soup was a bit bland but the cabbage and broth was quite flavorful. The BBQ pork fried rice was on the dry side but my beef and black bean sauce was absolutely delicious. I tried my daughter’s lunch combo and loved the sweet and sour pork. What I enjoyed and adored most was the lady that took care of us until the end. She refilled our iced waters and kept checking on us. The place wasn’t packed but she was the only one taking orders, serving, and bussing tables… I think she was fantastic… her eyes, her tone of voice, even her body gestures made me feel warm inside.

Horrible. Made us feel sick. I knew it was a mistake as soon as I walked in but stupidity made me stay. The fact that this place has more than 1 star is a sure sign that Unilocal reviews are complete BS and written by fake costumers

I will start with saying that when i was attending soquel high school i was always treated well at this place, got good service and good food. Years later, food is still pretty good, but everything else has changed. At least for me. I went to dine in a week ago with my cousin. As soon as we entered the door we both received stares from the waitress. It wasnt inviting. We both picked up on it right away. As we sat down she gave us our menus and left in a hurry. My cousin and i brushed it off and looked over the menu. She came back and asked for our orders, this is where my love for this place went away. My cousin and i both ordered a beer with our meals, and we both got our id’s checked. Standard, but not when she litteraly took about 10 minutes to look over both of our i.d.‘s, took them to the back, scanned them, and still asked us what our age was. We told her 23 and she still went back and asked her coworkers if that seemed ok. After all that we got our ids back. Got our food and then halfway through we got our beers. Throughout all this she kept looking at me and my cousin, like she wanted us to leave immediately. If you ever watched menace to society or dont be a menace, this is almost litteraly how she looked at us. She even gave us our checks before we were even done with our meal. We never disrespect anyone or try to make anyone feel bad. We both just were hungry, wanted to kick back and enjoy a beer after work. The kicker to this is the fact that a few other people had come in and received a warm greeting and service. Maybe its because of our complexion and build. All i know is, after this, i wont be dining in anymore at mings. Para mi gente latino, con cuidado comiendo aqui. No los dan respecto como a los otros.

Love this place always great food and service. Lunch specials range from $ 5.50-$ 6.25 and dinner specials around $ 8. Oh did I mention they give you a lot of food. Usually I have left overs at lunch and Dinner forget about it your taking a doggy bag. Maybe share for the light eaters. Myself, I can pig out. See you there!

Mings is great! I go there once in a while, and the people that work there are so nice and attentive. I always order a big bowl of egg flower soup, which is great especially on cold evenings! The only negative is that the building is a little drafty so it gets cold in there sometimes, but that’s not bad enough to take away a star!

MSG! Even though they say no MSG, they use it! You will feel sick to your stomach from either their MSG, improper handling of food, improper temperature and storage of food, lack of washing their hands, or rodent/insect infestation. Check the Santa Cruz health departments violations on Mings.

Big guy portions for not so big pockets on the lunch specials. Had the garlic chicken with won ton soup and it was amazing! Service was on point as well. Great overall experience

I’m giving them 3 stars for the taste of The food purely. And the price. Mings Isa great place to get food from for to go orders. I have walked in countless amounts of times to dine in and get received with ate you ready to order, or you know what u want. their food is consistent and that is all you can ask for with Chinese food for cheap.

I checked the County of Santa Cruz’s website, specifically the environmental health department’s inspection reports for retail food facilities(violations of health & safety code violations) According to this report, pg 28, Ming’s has«rodent or insect infestation» and«inadequate hand washing procedure», &5 general violations. Need I say more??? We ate here last week and got very ill. When we called the restaurant to ask them about the report they hung up on us. We also found someone else had Unilocaled them 2 years ago with the same problem. Be careful eating there.

Food was awful! Specifically, the chicken tasted rotten. We told the server about the terrible tasting chicken; she REACHED into our food, grabbing a piece of the chicken out of the noodles WITHHERFINGERS, ate it and told us there is nothing wrong with it. I asked her to then remove it from our bill and she argued with me and did nothing about it. I will never go back to this place and recommend you don’t either, unless you like rotten chicken and someone eating off your plate. GROSS…

Good lunch deals for Cabrillo students. Got $ 5 for lunch. Don’t waste it on a bagel and a red bull. Come and have a great lunch. With large portions that will fill you up your typical locally owned restaurant. Not super clean. The place has been here for many years and the service has been the same. Great for college students like my self when I was in that area.

I’m rating it with the price in mind. I went in for lunch and enjoyed both the wonton soup, and hot and sour. I also ordered the Ma Po Tofu with pork and Mongolian Beef. The lunch order comes with a choice of soup, an egg roll, and the entrée served with either steamed rice or combination rice. All for only $ 5. This is a great deal for having food cooked to order, and served in a timely manner. The lady working there was kind, and attentive. I was pleased with my options and looking forward to returning and trying other options on the menu. Even for dinner prices, it is very reasonable and the portions at lunch are on the larger size. Given that it mind, the price is just right and they will continue to have my business. Thanks for giving us what we want when it comes to chinese food.

Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! This had to be the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The beef tasted rancid, and the rest of it was so bland, it made the rancid beef the only distinguishable flavor. Never again.
