Excellent service. Gave us chips before I even ordered. Made me a breakfast dish at 430pm. And of course the food was amazing I’ll be returning.

I’ve been here probably 80 times and usually it’s very good of course every once in a while I’ll get a dish I’m not completely thrilled with. But u cannot go wrong with the al pastor and they have possibly the best salsa and chevelas are very good.

Stopped by one morning on the way back from sc and it was packed. I knew it must be great food. I ordered the chicken mole and my love ordered a carnitas burrito. They give you chips and salsa. The salsa is yummy ! Fresh and homemade ! The mole had great flavor but chicken was a bit tough. My bf enjoyed his huge burrito ! Great flavor !

Decided to try this place out because of the good reviews, but now I’m assuming those other reviews are fake or they don’t know what a good Taqueria is because El Chipotle Taqueria is not that good. Food is bland and flavorless, many of the dishes had strange ingredients that were definitely not authentic. Try to avoid this place, there are better places to get mexican food around Santa Cruz.

Small location with limted seating. Have to wait outside or craed by the door if there is a wait. Food was good. Menudo didn’t have homony at all which was different. Coffee had a cinnamon flavor. Burritos were large and filling.

They have amazing food. My family and I went here today and we all loved our food. They also have a couple of vegetarian and healthy options. The waitress was very polite and friendly. The food came out pretty quick so we didn’t wait for long. Overall this restaurant has great food and I recommend it.

Yaaasssss! This place was delicious. How have I never been here?! Yesterday was my first time and I can’t wait to return. I had the triple fajitas and they were cooked just right and the sauce was on point! I also had the chebela and was not disappointed. It’s nice to not need to drive to Watsonville to get a good chebela. I highly recommend this place!

Love this place… What sets El Chipotle apart: An entire section of the menu dedicated to healthy plates. I love the grilled salmon with avocado. They also offer black bean, brown rice and quinoa side options. Plenty of veggie plates as well. An expansive breakfast menu. I love the chorizo breakfast burrito and chilaquiles. The staff is hard working and friendly. The atmosphere is bright, colorful and welcoming. Next time, I’m ordering the papusas!

A divey family ran Mexican restaurant in Soquel with some of THEBESTMEXICANFOOD I’ve ever had ! True homemade style and recipes — and inexpensive to boot ! Truly homemade. Everyone scarfed down the refried beans and rice — now who does that at a Mexican restaurant? It looks questionable from the décor, but don’t let the looks fool you — the food is great! Our party had the Chimichangas, Chicken Mole and the Chili Rellenos plates. The servings were generous and each plate averaged $ 10 ! The service was a little slow and inattentive, but the quality of the food made up for the lack of service. They have most major Mexican beers.

I cannot believe the positive reviews for this restaurant after eating there Friday night. I ordered the chicken mole and my wife ordered a chile relleno. The menu states that the chicken is simmered in mole sauce and this is most definitely not true. It was cooked chicken over which mole sauce was poured before serving. My wife’s chile relleno was deep fried and poorly done. The beans were unbelievable with the greasy taste and a layer of high fat cheese melted over the top to try to disguise how poorly they were prepared. The rice was average and at the level of the typical low end Mexican restaurant. For a good chile relleno go instead to El Palomar and for a great baked chile relleno(that is like a souflee) you will need to travel to the Los Angeles area. I have yet to find a restaurant in northern California that makes a true chicken mole so plan to start making it at home. The best beans I have found in NorCal is at La Tapatia in Prunedale. Food at this restaurant is a couple steps down from what one can get at the local Taco Bell. Sad that some people think that this is good Mexican food and do no know what they are missing.

You can tell how good a Mexican place is going to be once you taste the refried beans. Here, the beans are perfect – creamy and homemade, not too thick and not needing any extra flavors. So, I wasn’t surprised when my huevos rancheros were absolutely great – traditional, nothing fancy, just delicious. If I lived close by, I’d make this a regular stop for basic Mexican food made with love. Oh, and the red salsa served with the thick chips when you take a seat is amazing. I’d love to go back for a basic bean burrito and ask them to put this salsa in it.

This place is definitely a weekly spot for me to go to. Very friendly staff & wonderful food! They also have really good chips and salsa! Soo good that I sometimes accidentally get full of of them! lol The prices are just right! They have a large menu, and everything I have ordered has been delicious! Their fried fish is to die for! Very crunchy and tasty and not fishy tasting at all. The micheladas are also huge and so good! There’s really nothing you can go wrong ordering

Been eating here for about 5 years about once a month. — Service is friendly — Food tastes fresh and delicious — Prices are very reasonable I am so happy this place has not succumbed to the all too common around Santa Cruz let’s start a tacqueria off strong and go downhill syndrome. They continue to care and not let quality or freshness slide and they genuinely seem happy to be there and it shows. Combo plates, taco salads, burritos, chimichangas are nummers in the tummers. The different meats are distinct and delicious. One of the best Al Pastors I’ve found.

Not only is their menu diverse and vegetarian friendly, but everyone is really nice! You can definitely tell from the decorations that this is a family restaurant. The staff checked on us a lot and made sure we were enjoying our meal. I wasn’t sure about this place at first, but now I think it’s going to be my go-to Mexican food joint! I ordered the 100% veggie burrito with shrimp, which had a ton of different sautéed veggies, rice, and beans inside a spinach tortilla burrito. It was loaded with veggies, and the shrimp were huge. All for $ 9.50. My boyfriend got the enchiladas de verde with al pastor. The pork was crispy and the rice was seasoned very well. It’s been a day and he’s STILL talking about it! And did I mention the chips and salsa you get while you’re waiting for your food is DELICIOUS? It was so good that we asked for more! I’ll be coming back for more for sure.

Going 5-stars for sure. Local family run Mexican restaurant. Nice ‘like home’ feeling to this place with owners on site. Food excellent, prices very reasonable, and relatively clean inside. Parkling can be tricky here but for the price and home cooked Mexican meal, you have trouble matching this place in Santa Cruz County.
