Action Watersports At Lakeside Marina

We rented a boat here with no problems. Good experience. However, we reserved a timeslot for parasailing for our teenagers and they failed completely. Turns out, they don’t actually operate their own parasail boat. They contract with some dude that serves 2 or 3 marinas in South Tahoe. So we reserved a slot, there was miscommunication between Action Watersports and their contractor, and the boat operator simply blew everyone off and cancelled. Of course we were left standing around, and burning two hours of our last vacation day (including travel to/​from plus wait time) waiting for nothing. Their only solution was a refund, which is the minimum expected. It was the last day of our vacation and our daughter was very, very disappointed. If you want to parasail, do more research and choose a location that operates the service directly.

We have launched our boat here a couple of times this year. People very helpful and is about the only place my wife says «did you leave the guys a tip?» Can’t get out of there without leaving a tip — and she never mentions tips!!! Hope that gives you an idea about service. I just find the entrance tight to back in to their single dock through a narrow gate. not tough, but not easy

Some of the staff was really nice, one of them had a huge stick up his butt. Overall experience was good.
Jet skiing was awesome. Hitting air on choppy waters. Taking some bruises as souvenirs

The staff here is wonderful but the owner definitely has a different view of what what customer service is and customer loyalty. We visited the marina before renting a boat and they seemed very nice. On the day of our boating expedition, there were a bit of clouds. So the staff recommended renting on a hourly basis if the rains do come in because the owner does not refund due to weather. The other option is to rent for four hours or half a day. Well, the weather cleared up and we stayed out for four hours — only to be charged an hourly rate. When we asked about working with us — we were told — so sad, too bad. I would not recommend supporting that behavior — especially in this economy

This place rocks for boat rental.
We were really just passing by when we saw this well placed marina. Thought of checking out. Went straight to the office without any coupon or prior research on internet. They say sometimes when there is too much information, decision making becomes hard.
Thankfully I met a gentleman named Roy in the office. I told him I dont have any coupons and was checking rates for one hour rental. I was told a rate of 120 $ and they also gave 10 $ discount although I did not have coupon. Since an hour does not really get business the best revenue, I was prepared for some rip off. I was doubtful how much I will be «really» charged. Our power boat was amazing, Roy was most attentive and immaculate in his instructions. We were back after an hour and 15 minutes. Were charged exactly what they told us in first place. I paid 170 $ for this time including fuel and tips. No bluff, no false charges, only time well spent. Did I tell you it was a Sunday in summer?
We are highly impressed. Totally recommended.

We rented a boat on Tuesday (7÷5÷11) for 4 hours & so glad that we did! We made a reservation the day before and came 30 mins prior to our allotted time (10a-​2p). The staff was friendly and helpful when it came to telling us good places to go (Emerald Bay) and a few places to avoid (rocks, shallow parts).
We got an 18ft boat that was very clean and ran well. The boat came w/​a canopy to provide shade if desired.
I would definitely recommend renting a boat from Action — they were about half the price of 3 – 4 other companies we looked at. They are located right on the beach down the road from the gondola and hotels.

I found this place after leaving Tahoe Keys down the street because they were such a Rip Off. This place was a great place to lauch becuase thier ramp and marina is protected from the lake boat chop. Very cool staff who is very helpfull. They charge 20 bucks in and 20 bucks out to launch and then 45 for a 3 day pass for the zebra mussel inspection. A little high but half the price of Tahoe Keys.
