Nik-N-Willies Pizza

Awesome Pizza! Reminds me of the melting pot pizza in Front Royal VA. The garlic pesto cheese bread is awesome as well. Owners were super friendly also.

AHHHHHHHH — I can’t believe how great this pizza was. I’m from San Francisco, and there are SO many restaurants here. I’ve eaten so many different types of pizzas, its unbelievable. So I had to Unilocal a pizza joint since we were lazy to cook in the rented cabin we had. (Went to Tahoe for a 3 day snowboarding trip).
I called in and ordered a XL mushroom, pepperoni and sausage. He said 30 minutes. Okay no biggie! So we drive up to what looks like a little cottage, very dimly lit. We actually missed it 2x haha. (well the driver missed it). There was one guy working when we came. He was friendly and definitely had some pizza cooking skills. because our pizza came out FANTASTIC! Seriously… there was not one thing wrong with it. I was looking for something to frown upon. Not one darned thing. The pizza crust was had the perfect crunch to it, the toppings had just the right amount, the sauce had just enough tang and the sausage weren’t huge honking pieces of fat. I usually don’t like sausage but I loved it on Nik-​N-​Willies Pizza!
My husband and I were craving Nik-​N-​Willies Pizza, but living 4 hours away. it really isn’t worth the drive lol. BUT when we do travel to Tahoe. (3x year) we will definitely be eating their pizza the entire time!

The pizza at Nik-​N-​Willies is freshly made to order with delicious, high-​quality ingredients. Love the thick, doughy crust! While you wait (very patiently), you can read the humorous signs posted throughout the joint. One room has a kids’ corner with lots of clean toys, as well as signage about keeping the toys clean, using the provided wipes on them, reporting any dirty toys, etc. Each table has a little game to keep customers preoccupied. And although the sassy signs about service may set up your impressions for rude or cold service, the owner (Jim Smith) is a complete sweetheart and overly welcolming. He didn’t give me any crap when I ordered my pizza without cheese, which my vegan heart appreciates. The prices were very reasonable, too. At lunch time, they offer pizza by the slice. You can also get a take-​n-​bake pizza for home. We’ll definitely go back! I noticed quite a few regulars/​locals coming through, too, which is always a good sign.

Last weekend, my friends were all hungry, loud, semi-​drunk and tired from snowboarding all day and all we wanted was pizza… BAD. I found this place in the yellow pages and, because it’s down the street from our cabin, I decided to give it a shot. I ordered 3 pizzas (cheese, veggie, pepperoni) and 2 family sized salads for the group and went to pick it up. When I got there, I was so charmed by the cute little establishment and the awesome couple (and their son) who owned it. They were incredibly sweet and firendly, the food was terrific and the portions generous — what more could one ask for? Will definitely be back to this little gem of a pizza place in South Lake. Also, the dude was rocking a Kirkwood shirt — major brownie points to him!

To be fair I cannot rate the quality or taste of the pizza. It was going to be 20 minutes for a take ‘n bake pepperoni pizza. This was just too long for us! We were able to order a *cooked* pizza from another establishment and got home faster than 20-​minutes!

Nic and Willies have been making take and bake pizzas for several years. They are freshly made when you order. We usually call in our order and they are ready when we get there. They make the best take and bake we have every had.
