Small place, long wait but it was worth it. Literally it tasted like the fish came out straight from the hook because it was so fresh. It was pretty off the hook. Glad that I found a sushi spot to come back to when I’m in Tahoe.

Sushi Pier had a long wait so we tried this place as the reviews seemed good. The wait here was really long as well. Once we were seated we began to realize that this place was chalk full of folks hollering, slamming their tables, and being obnoxious. The staff didn’t hesitate to join in. When ordering drinks and food we got the feeling like they were irritated or just ready to be off work already. Sushi rolls are pretty small, just kinda slapped together and thrown on a plate. It kind of looked like it was pulled out of the fridge from last week. Bento box, entrée plates were mediocre. The sake was the best part, and I didn’t even realize they had this Unilocal deal for a free large sake! Overall, not our kind of place.

The sushi was ok, the rice wasn’t that nice sushi rice, it almost seemed like it was regular rice. Sashimi is overpriced for the quality. Service was good, but it you love sushi and know good sushi, try another place.

Decent sushi but when we went the wait was about 45 mins long. It took them a while to take our orders. It also took them a while for us to be able to ask for the check. So, be forewarned if you go there on a long weekend. Good selection of rolls and drinks.

Sashimi platter, crunchy granola, Goya and chicken teriyaki was delicious. Portions were just right. Service was friendly and good. Green tea ice cream and hot sake great addition to our meal. We will definitely be back soon

We decided to try this restaurant because it has high Unilocal reviews. It was good, but not as good as the reviews made it out to be. I might have high standards because I’m from SoCal and have been to some amazing sushi restaurants. I had the sashimi combo, which came with miso soup, rice, and twelve pieces of sashimi. The sashimi was thick and tasted relatively fresh. The albacore was so-so. My side of rice was never delivered, but I didn’t care since I wouldn’t have ate it anyway. My BF ordered rolls from the happy hour menu and they were about $ 5-$ 6 each. They were tiny and not the greatest rolls. My mom ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box and for some reason, it came out much later than orders from the sushi bar. We arrived right when they opened for dinner at 4:30PM on the Friday night of Presidents’ Day Weekend. We were seated immediately, but that wasn’t the case for diners that arrived later in the evening. When we walked out of the restaurant, we had to push past a ton of people that were waiting for a seat. It was packed and I’m glad we came early.

I often take my son here after a long day of skiing for a treat. Great way to end our weekends. Everyone is real friendly and the food is always great. My son loves the dragon roll! And the desserts of course. It’s nice to have a sushi place that the whole family can enjoy!

I really appreciate that they are helping me to mail my credit card back. I go to Tahoe for a short trip. When I realized that I left my card here I already come back to San Francisco. I call them to explain my situation and they said they can mail to me. I’m definitely give them 5 stars. food and service, it’s AWESOME!

It was our first night in Tahoe and we were all craving sushi. After some research we chose to eat here. Let’s just say I am SO glad we picked this place. The honey walnut shrimp was great and the sushi was wonderful(I got the sugar mama roll and some assorted nigiri.) Despite how busy it was the staff were very friendly and attentive. 5⁄5 would eat here again.

The service and food here is so consistent that it almost didn’t occur to me to ever write a review! I’m glad I remembered though, because Off The Hook has provided me with quite a few tasty meals. Their happy hour(weekdays from 4:30 to 6) cannot be beat. The happy hour menu features a respectable assortment of small plates and rolls, and $ 3 draft beer. Their grasshopper roll is a vegetarian(but not vegan) roll that’s truly worth trying. For value, taste, and freshness Off The Hook is my favorite sushi joint on the south shore.

Warning Stay Away!!! this place is a joke, the managers(elizabeth) is racist her husband is also racist. Or that is my conclusion from the service and treatment that I and my group of six recieved from here and her husband. I was eating with a group of people last night not only where we were kicked out for no reason the food was horrible and the service was even worse. If you are of hispanic or middle eastern decent you will not be treated very well. The person claiming to be the owner also put his hand on me for no reason. All I did was say what f-ing reataurant is this because of the type of treatment I was recieving. There is absolutely no reason at all for me to bad mouth this place for no reason. If the owners read this I hope they feel really stupid, when they wake up and remember what you did. Everyone of us will leave a one star if we could give a negative star review this place would deserve it. If your not worried about them being racist it also takes an hour to bring the food out. When the waitress took the order she did not want to seperate the checks so we could all eat at the same time. When we asked why people sitting after us got their food it was because they had similar orders as us. Excuse me!!! idgaf!!! Serve our table first and make sure we get all our food at the same time rather than bring everyone elses food first. By far the worst treatment I have ever gotten. I own two seperate businesses if my employees ever acted they way they did I would fire them emidiately. It is sad tht they are the owners acting like this. Seriously… every time I come here, it is simply amazing. Words cannot express how fresh the fish is, nor how friendly the staff always seem to be! Keep it up, cause it’s now become a tradition every single time I come to Tahoe!

There isn’t anything special about the rolls here. The service is great along with a great happy hour. It’ll satisfy my sushi craving while I’m in Tahoe

#176 Yummiest sushi spot in Tahoe: Near the hotel Near Heavenly Near Whiskey Dick’s – pretty much near everything we were doing. We entered into a very crowded little restaurant and fought our way through the people standing in line waiting. It was a bit disorganized, as one could not differentiate between the people in line that had already placed their names on the list, the people that were waiting to place their names on the list, the people/groups that had been called for their table and were waiting to be escorted, etc. We finally pushed through the crowd and placed our name on the list. I asked for an estimate of how long the wait might be(since Whiskey Dick’s was right next door). The sweet blonde hostess lady told me about 15 – 20 minutes. I was shocked. It seemed so much more crowded than 15 – 20 minutes, but that was plenty of time to take a shot with friends next door. We checked back in about 16 minutes later and they led us to our table. Nice! The place is quite small, so I guess that was the reason for the wait. It seemed like every place we went in Tahoe was tiny and needed to be bigger for the crowd and the fantastic food, drink, whatever. However, maybe that is the charm – small little places that offer impeccable service, better than great product and situated right on Lake Tahoe Blvd. We started with a free hot sake thanks to the Unilocal!check-in. I LOVE being a Unilocaler! So many perks and benefits. Thank you Unilocal!for partnering with Off the Hook Sushi to start our meal with a bang. Next, we had to decide on an appetizer as we were starving. Gyozas it is. They offered two types – a pork meat filled gyoza and a veggie gyoza. We had the veggie. Absolutely delicious! Moving on, we had the Chicken Teriyaki starter plate along with Miso Soup. Everything was divine. The teriyaki was amazing and the miso was warming on a cold night. As all foodies do, we ordered even more food: Ahi Poke Salad – wow! Best choice of the night. The tuna was crazy fresh and smothered in some marinated macadamia along with a delicious dressing alongside of argugala. We moved on to a few nigiri selections: Sake Hamachi Ebi Red tuna and Chef’s choice(two) We then ordered several rolls: Crunchy Granola Roll(not at all what you are thinking) Fire in the Sky Roll Off the Hook Roll Finally, somehow, we decided to get a dessert to share for the table: Tempura Cheesecake Woot! Woot! Everything was a hit. I cannot believe how amazingly fresh and delectable every selection was. I have nothing but amazing things to say about the service, the sushi, the atmosphere as well as the quality and value. Off the Hook Sushi will become a staple for my Tahoe visits. Stephani Smiles for Off the Hook Sushi ;)

Fast service… Filled up quickly at 4:30pm when they opened. We had to sit at the sushi bar as a family of 6. Good food and great atmosphere. Will come back!

Trip to Tahoe= hungry, and wanting sushi. Checked out the trusty ol’ Unilocal, came across a few contenders. Time(life on toddler time) and the«check-in» bonus of a free lg hot sake won us over. Came in, were told of a 20 min wait, ok, then they invited us to sit at the bar = yes! Wait staff was super friendly and accommodating. Ordered rolls at the bar and they were friendly. Food was yummy and reasonably priced! We’d definitely come back

This is our second time here, and each time we have not been disappointed. Staff is nice and courteous. Even had baby with us both times and never felt out of place of too stuffy. Nice cozy little spot. If you have Unilocal,I say do a check in… we got a free Hot Sake! If that’s your thing ;) We recommend the sugar momma and the crunchy granola rolls… super yum!

I get a craving for Asian food since there are not a lot of good Asian restaurants around SLT. Looked on Unilocal and this place looked very appetizing. Small restaurant in a plaza. Not too much parking unless you park all the way down past the restaurant. Nice inside. Instead of booths they have like a little bamboo wall behind our seats. There was a bit of a wait though since they were packed. If you check in, you can get a large free sake. How awesome is that! I got the honey walnut prawns. I loved it! Reminds me of L.A. it was an appetizer tho for 12 bucks. It was a good entrée size for me. My boyfriend liked his cali roll and shrimp ebi. His brother got the udon and he loved it. This place i would definitely come back to. I want to try the kalbi bbq ribs! Hope it tastes like authentic korean bbq! The service could be a little faster. Took a while to get our food. But they have good food! Thumbs up! I feel like they have something for everybody even though if you are not into sushi. Give it a shot!

The best sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to… so bummed there isn’t an Off the Hook in my hometown San Diego. Starting the meal off with hot genmai cha tea and a bowl of miso soup hits the spot after a day of hard play on the lake. Next up is my favorite dish… Ahi Poke… simple, clean and deliciously marinated in a shoyu sesame flavored concoction, garnished with crushed macadamia nuts, and served over fried wonton wrapper chips. The sushi rolls are creative and inspiring… I never would have guessed fresh lemon juice tasted good with sushi, but Off the Hook showed me with its Crunchy Granola roll(shrimp tempura, avocado, crushed macadamia nuts, and a creamy sauce). Another awesome roll was the Gambler, which included yellowtail, basil, garlic and crushed macadamia nuts. I would have stayed for the dessert special… mango blueberry crème brûlée, but I ran out of room to sample that yuminess. Funny how just one dining experience can make the long drive up to Tahoe from SoCal all the more worth it.
