I’ve had their savory pies at the Farmington Farmers Market and they’re so delicious. SAVORYPIE. Yeah, I just had to say it again.

If you find their stand at a farmer’s market, buy a pie or a quiche! The pies are made with great fillings and even better crust. The storefront also has a great variety of items, but you can get gravy on the side with your pie. For me, that’s a no brainer.

A very cool place that sells things you don’t see very often. The two women working there were super friendly and informative about describing what they sold, and they sure did sell a lot. All sorts of savory pastries(about the size of a Jamaican meat pie) including 2 beefs(Shepherd’s Pie and Beef Bourguignon), 2 Porks(pulled pork with caramelized onion and one with bacon, potato & cheddar), 3 chickens(Traditional chicken pot pie, one with chicken, spinach, & artichoke with bleu cheese, and a chicken Cordon Bleu, and 3 vegetarians(vegetable curry, spinach-artichoke with Bleu Cheese Béchamel, and potato with cheddar and onions). Quite a nice selection, don’t you think?
If you’re not in the mood for savory, you can go sweet(think bananas, nutella, peanut butter and jelly). Plus quiche, salads, soups, and fruit pies. The pastries are $ 6. The quiches and sweet pies are available in all kinds of sizes; ranging from $ 2.50 for a mini, $ 5 for a personal size, $ 10 for a 7 inch and $ 15 for a 9 inch pie. We took home three pastries — veggie curry, pulled pork and shepherd’s pie. They were served with dipping sauces– barbecue and a gravy. The veggie curry pie was just OK, lots of veggies, but I thought it was a little bland without much curry flavor. The pork and shepherd’s pie were excellent. We sampled three of the mini dessert pies — lemon, coconut and pecan. I thought the coconut was the weakest link –kind of a bland flan-like texture. The lemon was pretty good, but the pecan was sinfully good. Sweet and a little syrupy. The crust on the pastries was great — flaky and buttery. They do a lot of catering and were busy for Thanksgiving, I think she said she sold 200 pies for Turkey Day. Sixpence is a keeper, for sure…
