Dinner on a Saturday night, the night before Valentine’s Day 2016. The place was packed! The porter house for 2 was delicious! Best steak I have had in years. Definitely Peter Luger«like». I highly recommend this place. Service was VERY friendly, even on a very busy Saturday night. One minor complaint was our delicious cappuccinos were long finished before the so-so Crème brûlée came out.

If I could use one word to describe Sparkill Steakhouse, it would be effortless. From the ease of making a reservation through OpenTable, to receiving a confirmation call the day of, to the atmosphere, and the perfect amount of attentiveness of the wait staff… all I had to do was sit back and enjoy. I came here for the first time to celebrate my mom’s birthday at 6pm on a Saturday night. We originally started with a party of 8, but when the restaurant called to confirm my reservation, I informed them it had changed to 7, which they had no problem with. We were seated right away, with the waiter ready to take our drink order. I wish I could remember his name, because he had a great personality. I ended up changing my original entrée order due to the recommendation of the waiter, and boy am I glad I did. We were started with a warm bowl of bread and plated butter. I ordered the lobster bisque as an appetizer. I am very picky when it comes to this kind of soup, but Sparkill nailed it on the flavor with just the right amount of creaminess. The entrée that was recommended for my sister and I to split was the Porterhouse steak for two. It was cooked to perfection, little to no fat and so juicy. I asked for some mushroom bordelaise sauce on the side, and when poured over the steak, everything just melted in your mouth. The family-style sides ordered were mashed potatoes, sautéed asparagus, and broccoli sautéed with garlic. I liked how the wait staff divvied up the sides so that everyone at the table had some. We skipped dessert as we had some back at the house, but I am already looking forward to my next visit and what other tasty choices I will try!

Visited last night with some friends. Excellent meal! Ribeye was awesome and so were the sides. Everyone enjoyed their meal! Service was also very good. This restaurant is 20 – 25 minutes from my office and an hour from my home, but definitely worth the drive! Will be back again!

We had a private event in Sparkill’s upstairs private dining area and could not have been happier. Sal and team were very accommodating and responsive and the food and drink were terrific. A top-notch experience!

Visited this great restaurant for Hudson Valley Restaurant week, went with the prix-fix menu so I may have only had a limited sampling of their food BUT — it was on point. French onion soup to start, of course it was delicious, it’s covered in melted cheese. For the main course, I opted for the sirloin which was a little overcooked but still a very good showing of a quality steak even at restaurant week pricing, the sides of mashed potatoes and broccoli were standard but very tasty. Aside from the food, the atmosphere is quite nice. You could easily make this a destination for a fancy first date, anniversary, birthday, etc… which is nice because sometimes you don’t always want to go into NY. I’m glad we have a local spot for nicer dining. Can’t wait to come back and try the regular menu.

M family lives about a half hour away from Sparkill Steakhouse, but we frequently visit because its just that good. They have the warmest, friendliest servers of any steakhouse I have ever been to. They were so kind and accommodating when I was pregnant and are now delightful to my baby girl every time we come in. And their food has been spectacular every time we have eaten there. Great lobster bisque. We love their Cottage Fries and their porterhouse is to die for. We have a lot of good steakhouses in the area, but Sparkill beats them all in my opinion.

A perfect experience from start to finish. We especially adored the lobster bisque and creamed spinach, but from oysters to pecan pie, it was a rave!!! Service was extraordinary, everyone was so attentive and all courses were timed exactly to our needs. So pricy, but if you choose to spend money, you should have the best and this is 100%.

Phenomenal food and dining experience! I’ve been to Sparkill Steakhouse for lunch and dinner and have never had a bad meal. Sal and Carlo are welcoming, accommodating, and warm. I’ve also brought a party of 35 for an event in the private party room upstairs and we were treated like royalty, and the menu selections and preparation were top quality. Whether you’re looking for a romantic night out, a family dining experience, or a larger event, they have the versatile space and attentive staff to accommodate. Try the thick cut bacon appetizer!

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. My family and I went here last night for a celebration dinner and I don’t know if we’ve ever had a better meal. Though we were there a few minutes after closing, we never felt rushed, and the manager/owner? stopped to chat with us on a few occasions throughout the meal, and before we left for the night. There are tons of tables, but as other reviewers have already mentioned, the space is broken up into smaller rooms so it doesn’t feel too loud or busy. The waitstaff was perfectly attentive, always there when we needed something, but never hovering. We felt so welcome and taken care of. Now, for the food. It was terrific. Everything came out hot and fresh and with perfect timing. We never wondered when it would finally get to us, or that something came too quickly on the heels of the last dish. We ordered the calamari and the mozarella and prosciutto. The tomato and mozarella and prosciutto were perfect. The tomato was just the right ripeness and the mozarella was very fresh. There were three large pieces of each, as a table of 5, we divided them in half. The calamari was perfectly fried. For dinner we ordered a variety of steaks and chicken. I personally had the filet mignon and I don’t know if I’ve ever had better. It was perfectly cooked and there was a delicious salt and pepper crust. Everyone else seemed to really enjoy their entrees as well. We ordered a few of the family style sides and loved them. The mashed potatoes were delicious, as was the creamy mac and cheese. The creamed spinach was perfect and the steak fries were crispy and yummy. For five people, there were plenty of fries, and just enough of each side for us all to have a scoop. The wine list was extensive and the bottle we chose was excellent. Though probably under-priced for the amazing quality of food and service, it is a little expensive so I won’t be able to return as often as I’d like. Plenty of rooms for private parties as well. I will be back as often as I can because this restaurant really made it a night to remember for my family.

I took my husband here for his birthday a little over a week ago, and it was fantastic. We unfortunately hit traffic and our 7:30 reservation became 8 pm, but the restaurant was very accommodating and had no issue with our tardiness(in all fairness, when we got there, the restaurant was only occupied by about 3 or 4 other tables of patrons). The restaurant is in an unfortunate location, down a random side street but the exterior and interior are both beautiful. I was starving and decided on the Scottish smoked salmon appetizer for $ 15. It was definitely a good quality smoked salmon, but it was a bit awkward to eat the slices of smoked salmon on the tiny pieces of bread. I wished there was more bread and that the salmon itself had been seasoned in some way as it was laid out on the plate as is, with the bread, some lemon, and a ramekin of sour cream. It was enjoyable, but I wouldn’t necessarily order it again, considering the other appetizer offerings. For our entrees, I had the prime sirloin, and my husband had the bone-in prime rib eye(which he said was the best steak he’s ever had). Both steaks were perfectly seasoned and cooked as requested. I even chewed the fat on my steak, which I never do. I was afraid to order a steak that was too large, and although I enjoyed the cut and the steak itself, it wasn’t the most tender. My husband’s rib eye was fantastic, and I’d definitely order that next time. It was flavorful, juicy, and incredibly tender. We would have liked to try the dry aged porterhouse, but I love my meat rare, while my husband likes mid-rare. We shared onion rings and cottage fries, which we couldn’t finish, despite our best efforts. They were crispy and well seasoned. We were too stuffed to order dessert, but the waiter graciously brought us a complimentary dish of sorbet for my husband’s birthday, after he looked slightly miffed that we weren’t ordering dessert. Overall, the food was fantastic, and the service was impeccable and professional/polite, if a bit too overbearing. We were handled by several different waiters, each just as attentive, but they tended to hover a bit. However, it was nice to be attended to when we needed something, and they are the best steakhouse in the county.

We had such a great experience here! The food exceeded our expectations by far. The lobster bisque was the best I’ve ever had and the sirloin and lambs chops would give any steakhouse a run for their money. Will definitely be back !

The porter house for three melted in your mouth. But the mash potatoes tasted as if they where instant and the apple strudel desert was not fresh, it was saggy, cold and very dry. Don’t think I’ll rush back.

Killing it!!! Atmosphere/Décor ***** First off this place is massive from the outside but inside it is divided up into many individual rooms so it is a bit more intimate. Tastefully decorated it feels 1st class all the way. Service ***** Warm, friendly and professional. The bartenders immediately brought over a basket of delicious house made potato chips and automatically transfer the check to our table. Food ***** We ordered appetizers of Thick Cut Bacon, Mozzarella/Tomato Salad and Shrimp Cocktail. All were very good although I would have preferred a higher quality balsamic vinegar for the salad or salt and pepper(not on the table). The Sirloin steak was fantastic! It was tender and flavorful to the point that it may just be one of the best I have ever had(just behind Del Frisco’s). Sides were all great but the Mushrooms really stood out. Value **** $ 130 per person including a bottle of Decoy and tip for this level of quality is very good. Overall ***** I have not been impressed with any steakhouse outside of NYC but this completely blew me away. NYC level, service and quality without the travel. The place was near empty on a Friday night so I hope they can stay in business for a long time as it may be my new favorite. Notes Dress well Large party rooms

What a gem. Who knew that little ol Sparkill would have quality steak house. Filet was buttery and perfectly prepared to a medium rare. The creamed spinach was light and fluffy. Really? Yes. Creamed spinach was light. Service was wonderful. Perfectly timed courses. My six year olds loved the bolognese and desserts. NYC rivaled steakhouse. We love the Palm smith and wollinski and Lugers. This can be in the same class. The best part is that it is local. Prices are same as. NYC though. At this place has no tolls.
