This place was cool! Classic diner. Decent service when it was super busy on a Sunday morning. I ordered the Country bacon dish and it was pretty damn good! It wasn’t the best, but definitely worth the price and my girlfriend and I didn’t have to wait very long for anything. However, they sat us next to the bathrooms which ended being pretty busy as well.

Breakfast doesn’t get any better. Every time we are in Reno — this is our breakfast go to spot! Food is fresh and delicious! Best chicken fried steak I’ve ever eaten. Breakfast enchiladas are awesome — everything is great!

Very good food! Great Price! But be warned busy busy. Lots of parking. The Carne Asad plate can feed two! Will charge you for extra tortillas when they only give you 3, but that’s ok. I will definitely be returning!

This place has amazing service and delicious food– but the wait is a little long long– we waited about 40 minutes to get seated and then it’s about 40 minutes until we got our food… Love the place but you gotta come with a big window of time :) Around two hours from walking into the door until getting food served– but again— this place has amazing friendly staff and delicious food!

My husband and I went to Sparks Coffee Shop for breakfast yesterday. He loves eggs Benedict so I figured we’d go with most votes from Reno Foodies on Facebook and do an eggs Benedict tour of town. I got the chicken fried steak and eggs(scrambled well). He got eggs Benedict and a side of the applewood smoked bacon. We each got coffee. The service wasn’t super fast, nor slow. They were on fire when it came to refilling the coffee, though it was too strong for me. It was busy but homey and the waitress(who’s name I didn’t catch) was attentive and loved playing with my daughter. The cfs was huge, cooked well and quite tasty. The gravy wasn’t sausage gravy;, I think it was angel’s tears of joy though as it was fabulous. The sliced, fried potatoes are just like my mom used to make and the eggs were great. I hate runny eggs and they still were moist enough to be good but there was no slime. The plain sourdough toast(for my daughter) was thick, fluffy and gorgeous. My husband liked the eggs Benedict but was sad to say that there was too much vinegar in the hollandaise and that made one of the yolks gel and not run. That was a bummer since that’s why we went but it was still edible. He had a moment when he first bit into the bacon that I thought he might have to excuse himself to be alone with it. It was heavenly and cooked to perfection. He got white toast that was also thick, fluffy and gorgeous. All in all it was a very good meal and had a lovely view walking out the door.

Excellent service, massive portions and really tasty food. I’m a corned beef junkie, and theirs was really tender, good flavor and had just enough bell pepper. The biscuit was really tender, but the sausage gravy was just a tad salty for my liking. The kids liked their blueberry pancake and their sausage link and egg order. Homey atmosphere, really nice people– we were here for 45 minutes and we were props ably checked on 7 or 8 times. Would definitely recommend anyone looking for great breakfast fare at really good prices.

A surprise find! — my employee Julie has told me to go there for like the last 3 years and finally I did with her, and it was amazing. The photos inside as you see are not current. The inside is now a boutique antique feel that I just love — plus — hands down what I ordered, the Ultimate gravy entrée was amazing! — this is not a paid advertisement! ha! Julie, my protégé ordered the blueberry french toast and was blown away. — I must admit — this is a great secret stop for breakfast and lunch. We did it for lunch and omg — ps. Adrianna our waitress was phenomenal! — Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! — we will be back. oh – we almost forgot — Peg’s Glorified Ham and such now has a great competitor. I loved Peg’s but now. Sparks Café is my número uno, and I don’t speak spanish.

Always a good breakfast at the coffee shop. Prior to this visit, I tried their special blueberry French toast. Amazing blueberry flavor, soft fluffy interior and nice crust exterior. This visit I decided to get their carne asada breakfast. It was great. Carne asada has good seasoning and flavor. My husband had their meat lover omelet, he enjoyed it so much it practically licked the plate. This is one place will make our go to for breakfast along with peg’s and BJ’s BBQ

My top picks so far are the Eggs Benedict, French Toast, Carne Asada or the good old fashion bacon eggs and hash browns. They’ve never let me down! In fact, I’ve been to this location more times than I can count on my fingers and I’ve never had a bad meal. The service is always very speedy and welcoming too. I 100% recommend anyone looking for a great breakfast to give this little café a try!

Let me set the record straight… This isn’t what one would call a «coffee shop», despite the name. I had planned to go to a «coffee shop» and kick back in a squishy chair with a mocha and a scone and study a bit. Oops, I walked in and there was a host ready to seat me in a nearly full restaurant… Hey wait, this isn’t what I wanted– this was a hopping breakfast joint(Already getting a tad grumpy because this ruined my plans, deducting Unilocal stars in my head because of false advertising). So I resolved I’d sit at a table and still do what I’d planned– mocha-scone-study. So I looked on the menu and did not see any fancy«coffee shop» drinks, so I asked what kinds of coffee drinks they had. The reply, «umm… Regular or decaf?» Ack! There goes another star. No obvious scones either. I resigned to order breakfast, though I had already had a small breakfast a few hours before. I decided on the hash and eggs. I noticed that adding fruit and toast was $ 1.50 extra. I didn’t ask for that since I wasn’t super hungry. So they brought the food out, and they had included fruit and toast. Still determined to be grumpy, I figured it was just a way to get more money. However, as you can see from my star rating– I took the first bite and was BLOWNAWAY by how amazing it tasted!!! Easily the best hash I’ve ever tasted(sorry mom). Everything I ate was fantastic! And in the end they didn’t charge that extra $ 1.50 for the fruit and toast. Just generous I guess. Quite possibly the best breakfast in town, easily rivaling Peg’s. I am going to have to compare the two, apples to apples(or huevos rancheros to huevos rancheros) in the near future. I plan on coming back with my family(on a brunch day, not a study day), and really see if it’s the best. Super cute decorations too. Despite my determination to NOT enjoy it, I was seriously impressed.

Went on Thursday around 10 am. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted, and got our drinks right away. I ordered spanish omelet, and it had WOW in every bite! Service was great too. By the time we left, there was a line to the outside of the door. Better to get there early.

After a long night of shenanigans, me and my friends were in the mood for some good breakfast foods before hitting the road back home. We stumbled upon this place and judging from the reviews and pictures it looked good, so we gave it a shot. The ambiance was nice and clean. The service was great, and the entire staff was very friendly. I ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs and hashbrowns. I wasn’t expecting a huge portion, but low and behold the food came and I had the biggest plate imaginable. My friends food all looked good as well, and it all tasted great. I over heard that they just had opened about 6 months ago, so they are still on the come up. They are doing a great job so far, and I will definitely be back in my future visits to Reno/Sparks area. The prices are great, the food is great, service is A1. I’ll spread the word so that more people can come and experience this hole in the wall for themselves.

Needed breakfast the Friday morning and didn’t want to fight the crowds at Peg’s Glorified Long Wait for Breakfast. We found this location near where we were staying and thought we should give it a try. When we arrived, there was no wait to seat the 4 of us even though the restaurant had plenty of people in it. Location was easy to get to with plenty of parking too. Low price ands large quantities of food tipped this from a 3 to a 4 star rating. The Good: No wait!!! Very friendly staff who worked hard to keep drinks full and the food coming. The hostess was very pleasant and got us to the table quickly with drinks there a minute or so later. Our waitress was efficient and patient. The food came out promptly and was as described. They were great about keeping coffee topped off too. Portions were huge and prices were very reasonable. The Bad: Nothing stands out. The Mediocre: The food wasn’t the most amazing flavors I’d ever had. Ok, I’ll say it… I’ve had better. But their food was decent overall and there was a lot of it. Would I drive an hour to come here? Probably not. But if I’m in Reno and want a good breakfast for a reasonable price I will think of these guys first. I had the chorizo and eggs and thought it was pretty good even though I’d have liked to have larger pieces of chorizo in it so it didn’t blend into the eggs so much. The burger my daughter ordered was pretty good and my son’s carne Asada and eggs was actually pretty tasty if not a little over salted. Overall: Clean, nice restaurant with a friendly staff and decent food for reasonable prices. Hard to argue with that.

I found myself out of new restaurants to try this past Sunday when the Hubbie and I wanted brunch so I jumped onto Unilocal to find something great and ran across this little place which received many rave reviewed from fellow Unilocalers. We decided to give it a go. We walked into The Sparks Coffee Shop around 11:45 on Sunday morning and the place was packed. The parking was easy(huge lot with almost zero operating business left). I never would have stopped here if I hadn’t read the reviews. It looks a tad run down and out of place and has what looks like it used to be a drive through with darkened windows and a car parked in front of it. We were told the tables were full but if we’d like to sit at the bar we can do so right away — we said sure and took a seat at the long wooden bar in the back of the store. These bars always make me chuckle — do people actually ever sit at them and drink? I just don’t know why so many diners have bars with bottles of booze behind them but that’s not something that makes my star rating go up or down. The service was very friendly. We were greeted as soon as we sat and asked for our orders after an appropriate amount of time had passed. My husband ordered the Steak Omelet and I ordered the California Omelet. My Iced Tea was never empty and was filled three times during the meal by different employees who all seem to look out for each other. My husband’s OJ came in a really cool chilled mimosa glass. The Omelet’s were smaller than what we are used to. Most places right now serve over the top omelet’s the size of your head. This plate was the perfect size to fill the tummy void without making you feel either: A — too full or B — bad for wasting food. My bacon was a little limper than I felt it should have been and the hash browns could have been crispier but I didn’t really have anything to complain about. The buttered sourdough was the best toast I’ve ever had in a restaurant which is funny because it’s hard to mess up toast. Most places though either burn it or give super thin slices. These pieces were nice and thick and crisp on the outside yet warm and soft on the inside. My husband liked his plate and had nothing to complain about. The bill wasn’t too bad and the place was cute with had a mom & pop home feeling to it. My favorite part was how nice the employees are. I am sad to say that I ended up feeling really sick about an hour after eating this meal though. I actually had to go and lay down in bed for a few hours because I was so nauseas. I’m not going to say with 100% certainly it was my food but I can’t say it wasn’t. I can’t rave about the food but I don’t have anything bad to say about it so I’ll give it an A-OK and we will be back! If I get sick again I’ll update but I’m sure it’ll be fine. While looking over the menu I did decide that I want to go back for the Cobb Salad for lunch and one of the burgers for diner. I liked how the menu offered something for each meal.

This place rocks my socks. Sparks Coffee Shop has taken the crown away from a previous joynt as my favorite breakfast spot out here. The freshness of the food items is incredibly noticeable. Don’t believe me? Try the corned beef hash. It’s the real deal… not the stuff from a can… AND they don’t use fillers such as a bunch of potatoes. The blueberry French toast? Awesomeness. Thick slices breaded properly and topped with compote… yum. My favorite twist? The biscuit scones. You can’t go wrong with deep fried biscuits sprinkled with powdered sugar. Hellooooo… can I get a heck yes!!! Service is fantastic. They haven’t missed a step yet. Plenty of parking… oh, and don’t forget to order a glass of freshly squeezed OJ. 5 stars.

October 25, 2014 Saturday — 9AM breakfast 2 adults and a bunch of other Unilocalers Atmosphere — 5 stars Food — 5 stars Service — 5 stars Background — Robert S.‘s UYE Breakfast Club, of course we will be there. Atmosphere — I hope you like faux antique bird cages, they probably hand about 10 hanging from the ceiling. Otherwise nothing stood out Food Drink — Just water. My Meal — I ordered and got the special blueberry French toast. The blueberries were made into a thick compote topping. The slices were huge, not as in thick, but from a very huge loaf of bread. What made it special was that you got a choice of bacon or sausage and two eggs cooked to choice. I went with the sausage, two plumb tasty links. Two eggs over easy cooked perfectly. They also offer it without the special so you can just have French toast if that is what you are craving. Service — We had a bunch of tables pushes together to create a long line for the group. We had two waitresses and each took a side. So having 20 plus people it was great that they were willing to split the tickets. I noticed one wrong delivery and they corrected it before Rain had a chance to make a comment. Future — Sure.
