Oh man, AYCE sushi galore. I guarentee that this place has a greater selection of rolls than any other place you go to for AYCE sushi. I’m personally torn between Kokoapelli and Sushi Time now. Sparks is a little more out of the way so maybe Kokoapelli is still just a little higher, but only in terms of location. As I mentioned, huge selection, I think there were 66 different options for rolls. The renee chips which is tempura nori with a mix of seafood on top, so yum! The ahi special, well I didn’t hate it, but in all honestly tasted nothing like tuna to me, it tasted like chicken, but I’m sure lots of people like that. If you ask for spicy, the chef will probably double check to see how spicy you actually want it. I ordered the spicey mia and told the chef to go all out. Two glasses of water later I was great, it was delicious, but next roll, I told him, not quite as spicy as the last time. There’s really something for everyone here. If you love the ceviche roll at kokoapelli, they have a similar one here too, called the Shawn and Shawna roll, which was my favorite of the night. If you love AYCE sushi and want to try someplace new… this place is awesome and is definitely worth a try! You can send me angry messages if you end up trying it as a result of this review and hate it, altho I doubt I’ll be getting any of those.

After reading the reviews we had to come by and give it a try. Very good selection of hand and regular rolls. The only thing about this place is that they don’t offer free appetizers or dessert. Great service and friendly sushi chef. Large parking lot nicely located to Safeway and CSV.

I’m convinced that this is my top choice when I want to head out and spend some hard earned cash on sushi. This is my splurge spot, my special occasion spot, my I’ve-had-a-crappy-day-and-want-something-yummy spot. My original review really WAS just on an off night, so everyone, take notice and if you’re experiencing a slow evening, remember that everyone is human and normally they’re on their A-game. I finally tried the Renee Chips and oh man, get some of those and put them INYOURMOUTH. Immediately. I can see why everyone raves about them. The menu has been cleaned up a bit and re-done, but still, the number of items to read through is intimidating(but, if you love sushi, it’s in a GOOD way). I have only met one of the owners(or have I met both and just don’t know it?), but he was hilarious and super personable. He stopped and chatted with EVERYONE that was there that night, and only one couple out of the restaurant appeared to be «regulars» that he knew by name. I just HAD to update the review to reflect how much I love this place now. If only I had MORE money to spend on sushi!

Thanks Unilocalers! Stopped here on a road trip and treated myself to All You Can Eat Sushi for 22 bucks. And it included four huge pages of the menu. I ate too much, but loved every bite, and got to try stuff I’m normally too cheap to order. So awesome.

An awesome start for me from moving from San Francisco to Reno. I worried that the sushi places up here wouldn’t be as good as home. But when I dined here, not only was the staff friendly, but the other customers too! It showed me that it was a happy place to be. I ordered off the lunch all-you-can-eat menu. Sushi Time offered combinations of ingredients and flavors that I have not found anywhere else. Every dish I received was fresh and delicious. Renee chips were awesome… a tempura batter dredged and fried seaweed chip topped with a shrimp mixture was delicious. Although it was delicious, I personally would’ve enjoyed less of the topping. My Rocky Mountain Roll was recommended by another patron who sat next to me and said that even he was ordering the same. It came out and to my surprise the pieces were actually bite sized, as intended by the Japanese. I couldn’t help but pick off all the scallop, sake & ahi sashimi to eat first. It was fresh and the scallops were the best I’d ever had raw. I was getting a bit full but wanted to try more so I ordered the Vegas Roll in a Hand Roll style. It had bits of avocado, crab, spicy ahi and other ingredients I don’t recall. I definitely was pleased since the spicy ahi ACTUALLY had a kick to it.(I’ve had too many experiences with places that list spicy ahi in the roll and there is little to no trace of spice) I couldn’t leave without getting my last fix of salmon sashimi so I ordered the Sake Nigiri and ate it without taking the rice off. They didn’t try to con me with the insane amount of sushi rice some other places put in their rolls to to and prevent you from ordering more fish. With that last bite, the owners Lawrence and Alan, offered to make me their Ahi Special so that I could just try it. The owners not only visited me multiple times, they were seen visiting with their employees and other guests. They made me feel welcome. The dish came out on a sizzling platter with bits of cooking ahi and a cabbage salad. I would like to say the sauce that it sizzled in was delicious, just a bit salty and just a bit sweet; I didn’t have the heart to tell them I despise raw cabbage. I think I would have enjoyed that platter more if the ahi came just seared as a steak instead of little bits because the ahi ended up cooking all the way through since it was on the hot platter. NOW I ONLYWISHMYHUSBANDENJOYEDEATINGSUSHISO I COULDCOMEHEREMOREOFTEN! :) enjoy!

You HAVE to try the mussels, they are to die for. I get them everytime we good and think about them when I’m not there. Their sushi is always fresh and tasty. The chefs are always friendly and nice. The last time we went in they set up a high chair for our baby’s car seat. I can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s out go to plcae for sushi.

This has to be the best sushi I’ve ever had. Talk about fresh and the biggest selection of all-you-can-eat sushi menu for $ 22 a person I’ve ever seen. I just wish I didn’t live in the Bay Area or I would eat here once a week. Best time to go is when they are not busy. We got one on one attention and didn’t have to wait at all in between items ordered. My favorite items were Super Super & the Dragon Roll Keep up the good work! I will be sure to come back every time I come to the Sparks Reno area.

Lots of new items on the menu, mostly centered around mango. Still the biggest selection of rolls I’ve seen anywhere. The service remains excellent and the fish has always tasted great. When Allen, the owner, is in he makes it a point to stop by and see how everyone is enjoying their meal. The Louis the Thirteenth is my favorite way to end the Sushi Time experience and the Spiderman is still one of my favorites.

Don’t try this place unless you enjoy countless hours on the toilet. We tried this sushi place after my persuasion because I hate seafood and my father law mentioned they had veggie rolls. I thought it was totally delicious– I had veggie and dessert rolls. My father in law, husband and brother in law all eat several seafood rolls each and loved them. However, that was a week ago– and they’ve all had food poisoning since. I was the only one who didn’t eat the fish and am fine. Stay away from the fish unless you want them hershey squirts!

I go here with my daughter once or twice a month, not too often but the staff are caring enough to recognize us by now. Their chef – we always seem to get the same guy – is very friendly. I can’t get enough of their salmon and tuna nigiri – easily as delicious as any you’d get at a higher-end restaurant. Their rolls are fun and creative, and you really can’t beat the price. I wish they were open at this time of night, because after writing this review I’d love to run over and get some sushi!

Short Review(may write a longer one later): Sushi Time is a solid sushi joint. Good rolls, good nigiri, fresh fish. The owner is almost always there, this is something I rarely see from sushi places. It’s a really good price for what you get. Go there and support local!

This place isnt so bad. My boyfriend liked it a lot. I on the other hand didnt LOVE it, how I normally love sushi. We came for the AYCE dinner on a Tuesday night I believe? It was pretty empty. Our sushi chef was very friendly and he answered any questions we had. I didnt like that each roll we ordered was enough for one person to basically get stuffed after two orders. So it was pleasant to try and stuff ourselves to avoid being charged extra and trying to get the opportunity to try a different sushi. They kept our drinks filled. The quail egg shooter was nasty. Wasnt for me. I dont know why people rave about it. The Renee Chips were pretty oily. I didnt expect that. It was tasty but one bite was good enough for me because after that I felt like I was drinking oil. Dessert. How sad to say, they had a banana with coconut roll thing and this other thing our chef did not recommend. The banana roll dessert thing was good but there was barely any banana and way too much sushi rice so the majority of the taste was the vinegary rice. I licked the whip cream coconut and chocolate syrup off the top of the roll. that was about the only thing i enjoyed on that dessert. They had no ice cream. No mochi. No options. We wouldnt mind paying extra for that either. So it was sad to hear they had no options. Honestly oversized orders. Just ruined it for me, we weren’t able to enjoy the other orders because we got so stuffed over the first two or three orders, and also as well as the lack of options for dessert. But service was great. We really loved our sushi chef. They should consider making the orders smaller so that the customers could enjoy other dishes as well. Won’t be going there again. I recommend you guys to Tha Joint Sushi, just a couple miles away from there on the other side of town.

CHEAP! We went for the all you can eat and it was one helluva good time. We had about 10 others in the group and from what I can remember, we were about to explode. I think the worst part was the ending where we decided to have some atomic sushi or something. It made a couple of us go home feeling like crap but whatever. I had a good time. Service = good Food = good Price = excellent! Ambience = was decorated kind of strange Location = far away from our hotel but worth the drive! Yay or nay? = YAY!

Man I thought I had reviewed this place before… used to go here quite often. Anyway here is my review. Sushi overall good. However these guys do the«cooked rolls» better than the other places in town Don’t know exactly the cooking technique that makes them different, but they just are. You have read about the Renee chips? Then believe all that you have read. These are a great. Whomever came up with these deserves a medal. Also these guys are the place to do the Ponzu just right. Salmon with Ponzu here is just awesome. I suggest it, no… I order you to eat it next time you go to Sushi Time. A few notes of interest. You want gyoza included? No. But they make up for that with some other good«app» type stuff. Dessert? Again not included(as far as i could tell). This isn’t a complaint from me, but just a pointer for those who might actually be reading this in consideration of eating here. Also the napkins aren’t right for my kind of sushi eating. You know, the real way with your hands? I need those stiff not tissuey kind. Theirs are more tissuey. Oh well, they still set me up when I asked for more I like this place. Sometimes I get the«small business» tension here, but if I get to sit with my favorite chef I will put up with it. They filled the glasses just fine too. I will return for… Rene Chips, Lemon Drop, Ponsu Salmon Nigiri. I will recommend my friends to go… especially if they like the cooked rolls.

I had a good meal here recently and I ‘ve had them here before. I can recommend Sushi Time to others. But there’s nothing special here that I’ve tried that I can recommend over other sushi places, so it only gets three stars from me. Sushi Time is a reliable place to get sushi. At my recent meal there I liked just about everything I tried. the shrimp was kind of bland and flavorless. Maybe it wasn’t fresh. And I got an order of six mussels and one, the largest, tasty really fishy and was unusually rubbery. I had to spit it out. The rest of the meal was good.

Heard they made some updates to their menu so I thought I’d check them out again. We went for lunch. not busy at all. They do have an expansive updated menu, but also on the more expensive side for lunch $ 17. Fish was fresh, but some sinewy poorly cut pieces. And it’s panko fried, sweet sauced, cream cheese variations of california roll galore. Good if you like that sort of thing, I do in moderation. They roll their sushi tight and small, which I favor because I like to try a big variety of rolls. They had a deep fried upside down shrimp dish that was sprinkled with a cinnamon sugar based spice mix, very different and unique but I don’t know that I enjoyed it. One big plus is that they will gladly make any custom or modified rolls(ie: a lot of their rolls are delicious sans the cream cheese!) overall I thought it was good. Those who prefer cooked rolls will like the new menu.

Holy cow can you say HUGE menu?! The fish is fresh, the staff is great, and there is plenty of different types of rolls to choose from. My boyfriend and I had the AYCE and our sushi chef was just awesome, he asked us what type ingredients we liked in our sushi and he created tons of yummy rolls for us that weren’t even on the menu! I loved the variety and just the fact that the staff actually seemed to like their jobs. I hadn’t eaten at Sushi Time in a few years because I like to try new sushi bars, but after our recent visit this is my new favorite Sushi bar in town! Also the prices are very reasonable :-)

So after my previous, harrowing, close-to-poisoning experience at Aloha Sushi, I was convinced that Sushi Time would be the place to go to re-up my spirits about sushi again. The food was very good, the nigiri quite fresh(and cold!), and the menu for rolls was extensive. Now, granted that most of them have cream cheese in it, but hey — if you don’t like it, don’t order it? We got hamachi and maguro nigiri, the Superman, the Fifth Avenue, the Kamikaze, the Mudslide, the Ahi Special, and a couple other rolls I can’t remember — oh, and the Monkey Roll, which is only on their dinner menu but it has fried banana in it, so the very gracious owner allowed us to try it. Here are some tips: –The Kamikaze came with a warning: heed it if you are not used to unbelievably spicy. They also have no milk so I was stuck sipping pepsi, smearing cream cheese all over my tongue, and dumping a packet of sugar in my mouth to get the burning to subside. I am definitely a person you want to go out with in public. However, I didn’t find the roll to be as good as the other ones, so like I said: eat at your own risk, spicy or taste-wise. –The Superman was delicious, as was one with white onion and seared tuna on the top. I can’t remember what it was called, but just ask and I’m sure you can find it on their menu. Order those two. –The Ahi Special was DELICIOUS. The only reason we didn’t order our own was because I could feel my pants getting tighter, and didn’t feel like asking for a wheelbarrow to leave and drop me in my car. –Three out of the four people in our group each ordered the Fifth Avenue, so I’m assuming it was good. I don’t like unagi, but if you do I recommend it. –The Monkey Roll was good, I liked the banana but I felt like the unagi sauce and the ebi didn’t go well with the main ingredient. The avocado though, very nice. All you can eat for 14 dollars? Um, yes please! Four stars because I will be making this a staple in my diet from now on.

Never again will saying«The Poison was delicious» sound so fitting. LARGE menu. Average price. Quick service. Creative rolls. Small rice servings. I can’t think of anything to complain about, aside from the amount of rolls which are cooked, could be switched for more fresh uncooked roll styles. I visited two days in a row. Once with my obnoxious and outspoken family of 5 at a table, and tonight with a girlfriend at the bar. Sunday night, my dad requested so much wasabi, our server made a snowman out of the ample side he brought my dad. The service between the bar and table was just as quick and accurate, although at the table we devoured my grandpa’s roll so they brought a replacement roll while he waited for other ala cart items. I personally enjoyed the Lemon Drop, a tempura-cooked long roll filled with shrimp, lemon sauce, cream cheese, crab, and topped with sweet lemon sauce. I loved the Poison, but with crab instead of scallops. In light of the IronMan2 release, I tried some of their superhero rolls, including the Spiderman, Superwoman, and Superman, all of which are tasty and slightly different than the other. Sushi time’s rolls include simple spice such as Jalepeno and Cilantro, to the complex creole and sweet chili seasoning. The chef’s don’t cut their rolls into four-bite pieces either, which is another reason why this place is my favorite place to have sushi when back in town.

3.5 stars, if I could give it that. And the additional ½ would be for the owner who was so kind and happy to have us in his restaurant. I don’t know what it is about this place that others love and I did not… I really wanted to love it, especially considering the service was several notches above the rest of the AYCE sushi places in reno. Maybe it was the odd atmosphere, or the seemingly lower quality of fish, or the rolls that all sounded so good but were not overly impressive — I just didn’t love this place. Since Sushi Time is located far from the center of town, I would say it’s not worth traveling to. If you live in the area, this is a nice place to go for a decent sushi meal.
