I deliberately asked the server if I could get the crisp veggies in a different container because I was transporting to work, she rolled her eyes at me and said«no, but I’ll put them on side». The lettuce/sprouts/cucumbers were literally soggy and slimy by the time i opened the container on my pork buun, because they put the hot meat on top of the veggies. I had to ask twice for a couple of 1oz cups for hoisin/chile paste, yet another eye roll. The pork was tough, and slightly off… I also hated their egg rolls, good tender texture on outside, but weird and mealy on inside, couldn’t even eat half of one(unfortunately ordered 2 orders). I have ordered the exact same thing at Phở Van for almost 2 decades and loved theirs. Phở Van 10+, vien dong 2-. Never going back, bummer, really wanted to like, have tried 3 times over a couple years, each time was nearly inedible.

Best phở I’ve had in the inland northwest this far. I got off flight and needed something for lunch before I drove 1.5 hours home. Easy to find and there’s an Asian market just down the street. I ordered rare beef and beef ball phở with spring roll. Delicious. Very authentic.

I have had a chance to go back to Vien Dong several more times and have decided that I am a fan. If you are an omnivore like me the dishes are heavily veggie oriented, and very healthful. I wish that I looked as healthy as the people that work there, and maybe if I ate there more often I would be.

First time here, came on the recommendation of a co-worker. Ordered the Chow Mein special for $ 10. WOW was it good. It was loaded with shrimp, chicken and pork. All kinds of veges too like pea pods, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, carrots, mushrooms and chayote. Definitely coming back here!

The Phở here was decent, but not even close to the best I’ve ever had. Having said that I have had some pretty amazing Phở experiences. It is truly a dive! Usually these are the best places so we were willing to give it a shot. The interior is awful, very outdated and not as clean as I would have liked. There is literally no atmosphere here. The service was just ok. They weren’t busy, but the server was not around a lot to fill up drinks and water — both exteremly important when eating spicy Phở. I wasn’t impressed at all with the egg rolls. I only had one bite, but my 5 year old was a fan! Like I said, the Phở was decent, but unfortunately I will not return as there are better options in the area.

Mehhhhh. I was really in the mood for phở because I have a cold, plus it’s snowy and the perfect weather for phở. We walked in and I was surprised to find that the restaurant looked quite divey and shabby. I’m not expecting anything fancy, especially for phở, but it didn’t really feel like it was finished being built. The service was average for a typical phở place, meaning that it wasn’t spectacular but not rude either. I was heartbroken to find out(around 5 minutes after ordering) that they were out of chicken phở! We came in at around 5pm on a Saturday night so I don’t see why they would be sold out of chicken for phở, especially since they had chicken for their chicken plates available. It’s not that difficult to prepare chicken for phở… I’m not a big meat eater and don’t eat any other types of phở so I was pretty disappointed. There was wonton soup but it’s not the same as phở. I ended up getting the grilled chicken plate. Our food came out in a decent amount of time but the wait was a bit…“stale”? There was no music or TVs and the wall art wasn’t that impressive either. My boyfriend and I had just gotten in to Spokane after a 2 hour drive so we were too exhausted to talk. Some quiet background music would’ve been nice to fill the empty space and make it feel more comfortable/welcoming. My boyfriend was disappointed to find that his«lemongrass chicken» didn’t taste like lemongrass at all. It had some flavor but definitely not lemongrass. However, he was more disappointed to find a white wavy hair in his chicken(photo posted)!! At first, he said that the chicken didn’t taste bad and he would eat it all anyway, despite the lack of lemongrass. He lost his appetite after seeing the hair and left almost ¾ of the food on the plate. Also, they just give you a small bowl of rice with this large plate of chicken/veggies… My plate had a good protein/veggie to rice ratio. However, the chicken didn’t really have any flavor and the shredded carrots didn’t seem that fresh. I was disappointed because I used to love eating these Vietnamese chicken plates when I was in college. I ended up leaving half of my plate. At first I was going to take my leftovers(I partially just stopped because I was full) but my boyfriend forgot to ask for a bag and I just said«forget it». The food wasn’t worth taking home anyway because I doubt it would be appetizing as leftovers if it wasn’t that impressive«freshly» made. We won’t be back due to sub-par atmosphere, taste, offerings, and overall experience. We will explore other places in Spokane for phở.

Omg this was thee best phở that iv tasted my whole stay here! After reading the review about the cricket i was a little scared to try it but it looked good so i had to take my chances. I also seen the complaints of bad customer service and that was totally not the case. The lady was very cheerful and accommodating! As for the interior i really dont care as most phở places are run down looking and that usually means the foods gna be spectacular. I ate at the other phở restaurant in the area that was very nicely decorated and it was so bland and not filling at all. This place had salt n pepper on the table which was much appreciated because the other didnt and lacked flavor. I ordered a large chicken phở(#29) with extra noodles(1 $) and the eggrolls(2.5 $). Everything was delicious and i finished everything rather quickly. I appreciated her saying thanks for waiting. I could tell she was trying to make sure everyone felt their business was appreciated. Not gna lie that cricket review had me thinking every bean sprout that popped up was a soggy cricket. Like the shit haunted me the whole time but im pleased to say it was completely bug free lol. To top it all off my food came up to only 13 $ which was shocking bcus the other place i ate at wasnt good and totaled over 20 bucks and i didnt even get extra noodles. I think they should and could deff charge more. Id pay whatever they asked. You Unilocalers arent giving them enough credit. Either that or they hav dramatically improved. Anyways, i would eat here again anytime i visit the area and recommend it to anyone craving a big comforting bowl of phở. Im very full, happy, and satisfied :)

First visit 7pm on Thurs nite. Out of our home for days, no electricity. I did see a review about this place and figured let’s go for it. Damn glad we did! Very good shrimp phở and the BBQ pork was very good, a bit different than typical, but large tender pieces and a good chili dipping sauce. Excellent fresh rolls. I had the Mongolian Beef and thought it was as good as any and better than most. Very prompt and friendly service. Very clean and well lit. A bit eclectic décor but I didn’t come to eat décor. We will be back to try more delicious eats. ALSO, very reasonably priced.

Being a huge phở fan, I have always wanted to try this place! My experience was good. To start out with the negatives: The interior is very out-dated(pink walls, tacky furnishing and decorative style) and the lighting is harsh… but WHOCARES when the food is great and the restaurant is spacious. Another plus is the PRICESAREGREAT. I ordered a small bowl of phở, because we all know that means large… and phở is never good warmed up IMO. It was $ 6.25. And my my two egg rolls were 2.50.(They were just a tad dissapointing.) More like spring rolls and they were very thin. Expected them to be larger. Crisp, though which is a plus! My friend accompained me and he ordered the lemongrass chicken. It was a huge plate for $ 7 or $ 8. It looked delicious and he enjoyed it. Honestly, their phở is up there along with Vina. Vina is my favorite and this is a very close second, now.

Bun Bo Hue was steaming and full of aroma. The bean sprouts were perfect. Not a spot of staleness. The meat pieces were cooked perfectly. Egg noodles were soft and nicely separated. Not in lumps. Will be back again.

After depleting my large phở bowl of noodles, beef, and accompanying bean sprouts and basil, my daughter noted a CRICKET floating in my broth. When I showed it to the server, she was dismissive, «Oh, sorry ’bout that», turning away and walking off. Wow. All I wanted was for her to «make it right», you know, what American restaurants do when you find a hair or insect in your meal, taking some responsibility and making amends. She told me that she wished she would have found out about it right away, so she could had made me another meal. I told her that I ALSO wished that I had found out about it right away, before consuming most of the meal. I just don’t think she got it at all. All she would do was give me 15% off of only my meal and argue with me about it. There was a CRICKET in my FOOD, for goodness’ sake. While the meal was delicious… no, wait… maybe it was just from the crickets in my soup… SCORE: * For the cricket-infested phở: 4 stars(legs, antennae and all) * For the lack of good ol’ American responsiveness and service: I give zero stars. * Overall: one star Methinks there are other, finer phở establishments to choose from in the great City of Spokane. Wonder what kind of insects they serve.

The girl left to takes order and be the cashier is not very friendly. I would not go here again especially after I was overcharged for sandwiches(which by the way we’re some of the worst Vietnamese sandwiches I’ve had). The place is dingy and their phở is just okay. I no longer recommend this place.

What an amazing little hole in the wall Vietnamese joint! This is absolutely the best Vietnamese food I have ever tasted! I tried the V 1 combo which was crispy chickpeas, broccoli, carrot, asparagus and even a couple slices of Granny Smith apples. On the meat side of the house kit included grilled chicken, shrimp, barbecued beef with a hint of spicy all served on a bed of yakisoba noodles! This is not your typical greasy fast food Chinese place, it is actually very good Vietnamese food that deserves a four star rating! I highly recommend this place and by the way don’t be scared off by the way it looks on the outside. The staff is very friendly and your order is cooked ready to eat!

Food is 5 stars! People and service 5! Restaurant 3. We had the Raw Beef Phở and iced coffee = YUMMY! Best Phở we’ve had in a long time. Nice, complex broth with a perfect ratio of meat, noodles, and toppings. Just not a nice space. But not without and d school authenticity.

This place would have five stars for food alone. The reason for the point deduction is the fact there’s only one able minded waitress! You cone during peak hours? Be prepared to wait for simple items like napkins and silverware. Great food, poor management. We ordered a large phở soup with steamed wonton and rice noodle. Amazingly delicate but tasty soup broth. Noodles were not overcooked and the sliced pork was a great addition. The fresh spring rolls are nice and crunchy with lettuce and the usual fixin’s. Plenty of dipping sauce and hot sauce at each table. The awesome benefit of dining in is sit by the window and catch a glimpse of Spokane’s world famous ladies of the night wandering aimlessly and bumming smokes from innocent passers-by. The setting is shady, but the food tastes fresh and its cheap eats!

First, I want to comment how low the prices are here. I honestly am not sure how they can make money. Great value. Next, everyone here is so friendly. I feel like I am being welcomed into extended family. The matriarch who seems to be in charge is always full of smiles and happy greetings. Food. Just awesome. I have tried several different things here, cannot really pick a favorite. I really dig their spring rolls, and get them with whatever I get. Also like their Vietnamese sandwiches. Especially for the price! And the bread reminds me of the awesome hoagie bread I used to enjoy back in Philadelphia. The atmosphere here is also very homey. It is tastefully decorated but you still feel relaxed and comfortable here. Overall, this is just an awesome place. If you like Vietnamese or Chinese even a little bit you have got to come here.

Pretty good special order Beef and Broccoli Chow Fun made with wide, fresh rice noodles! That was not on the menu but our young lady wait person didn’t hesitate to accommodate us. The phở was interesting as it was all rare beef that was ordered but after eating through the top pieces of beef, I found only white meat in the bowl with my noodles. However, it was still tender and the broth mild, enhanced generously with sprouts, fresh basil, and a squeeze of lime. Our orders were promptly taken but they’re not the speediest in getting your order filled. The restaurant’s tables, floor, and women’s room were amazingly clean! Diners filled the facility when we arrived and a number of take out orders were picked up while we ate. There are also some pieces of wall art for sale displayed in their main dining room. Thank you, fellow Unilocalers Lara E. and Shivyon S., for drawing positive attention to Vien Dong. I think we may have found an Asian restaurant for comfort food in Spokane and look forward to return visits.
