So, went there tonight and sang in the karaōke room. After I sang one song, I went to put in another song. The kj said, «I don’t have time right now. Come back later.» I have never heard that before. I don’t get it. He said he said he had a million things going on. What does that mean?

This might be the worst service I have ever seen. We walk in and as soon as we get here they start yelling at us to get out as I am throwing my water away. Apparently you cannot walk in with water at the first trash can you see as they expect you to throw it away in the parking lot. This is what«trash» you are dealing with. And then it is terrible to order water as no one wants to hear those words. I have never seen service that is so unaccepting. Because we did not fit the«cowboy» look. The workers and bouncers looked at us all night as we did not belong. I would not recommend ever coming here unless you are a cowboy as they are very prejudice. I never leave bad reviews but I am so upset at even paying cover to walk on this terrible place.

Spent my 35th birthday here. Idk about the rest of the reviews, but my group and I had a blast! And we are not the stereotypical group that you would find in a dance saloon. Even though we stood out like a sore thumb, we were greeted and treated w/kindness from the staff to the crowd. Drink prices are cheap and the entry fee(after 10pm) is only $ 5. If you think $ 5 is expensive, try going downtown and you’ll appreciate their cover prices. They do have a dress code, but it is very reasonable. I showed up in jeans, tshirt and some tennis shoes and got in. The guy in front of me did not, but he had on a sports shirt… I think that may cause a fight if somebody was drunk and said some nasty things so I can fully understand that. My family and friends had an amazing time and it was the topic of our conversation the next day. We will be back!

Smoke Free with lots of room to dance. They do feature Texas /Red Dirt music such as Randy Rogers Band, Aaron Watson, and Cody Johnson when they are promoting upcoming concerts featuring these acts. Go early if you want free dance lessons on Wed starting around 7:30. Lots of friendly women

My friends and I went to this saloon for the first time this past weekend. We actually enjoyed it. The place and atmosphere were nice. There was a minimal cover charge but what stunk is walking in and then finding out we could have gotten in for free had we shown a 93Q picture but I digress. Not everyone has FB so if you want specials I guess you have to hang with someone who does. I also liked the fact that staff is present at all times. There was ample security that walked by every few minutes, and I do mean every few minutes. I like that because there is nothing worse than drunk people looking for fights. We stayed until midnightish so I am not sure how crazy it can get but until that time, things were fine. Drinks were not too expensive and there was ample dance space. We are definitely going back again.

If your a guy… stay away from the middle bar. Blake doesn’t pay attention to his bar. Go anywhere else if you want decent service.

$ 2.00 drink night. Uhh last time I checked Redbull is going to liquor I got charged two dollars for Redbull two dollars for amaretto it came in the same glass. Wth. Same thing with my husbands drinks. The bartender didn’t even look at us in the eye when she checked us out just handed me a credit card slip while I was holding cash in my hand because I wanted to pay cash and not go on my credit card. It was a very slow night there was no excuse for such poor service. This scenario has happened time and time again. We keep going because we like the dance lessons the Wednesday night and Thursday night. I do believe we’re going to get through it without any drinks from now on. They have several waitresses that are spot on and the bouncers are delightful and friendly. This is a bar however and so I based my review on the fairly shady practice of overcharging for drinks. If you don’t want to have drink specials then don’t have drink specials I’ll pay full price if I’m told up front it’s full price.

Love that you can get cover entry deals on their Facebook(always look before going!) and they have good specials. when they have specials. Go later because when they first open it’s very bland and empty. You have to smoke outside now, which is a pain to anyone who smokes when they drink(isn’t there a country song about that?). Great music variety, I love that it’s mostly country but they still mix in some good hiphop and popular tunes. The dance floor is nicely done and honestly, I always get too drunk to notice if the staff is nice, lol. Overall, it’s a fun time but not my very first choice.

Use to be a great place to go to dance and to have fun. Staff is very friendly and makes great drinks at reasonable prices. We personally know Brandon the manager. He is a good Joe. However, I say«use to be» for the club. Apparently, there is a former manager by the name of Willow or something that uses all her efforts(with the onsite police and bouncers) to make trouble for anyone that she does not like or that does not fit into her judged mold of people. The last night that we were there, she had one of our group kicked out and if we had not reacted quickly, that person would have gone to jail for no more of a reason than a drunkard was making lewd and obscene passes at this person’s wife. The bartender told the person to stop, but he was an acquaintance of this gal(Willow) and since she knew the police and the bouncers he was evicted for only defending his wife. This was very unprofessional and also places a high risk to all patrons that might cost them a night in jail and/or a hefty fine. Until Big Texas elects to eject this Willow person and all of her cronies, I would suggest to find another bar. There is one on 1960 and a new country bar on Huffmeister. Not as great as Big Texas, but less of a problem.

If there was a zero star I would choose it. Here is my first time experience going here… It was my boyfriends and I first time in this place, we have a lot of friends who recommended big Texas to go dance. We went to this bar on a whim from the Tim McGraw concert. We walk in pay and pay 10 dollars for the entry fee… then we hear bc 93q was blasting on the speakers that if you have your Tim McGraw tickets you get in for free. So we go back to the cash register(we had them in my boyfriends pocket) and we ask if we can get a refund the girl said no. I thought this was so ridiculous so we stayed for a little longer danced on the race track dance floor almost dancing into drunk people leaving the middle bar. So by this point I couldn’t handle anymore it really bothered me so I asked to see a manager. We finally got to speak to him and I explained this was our first time being here and about the fee to get in. He said no I can’t give you a refund but I can buy you a drink. I didn’t want a drink since I was dd and my boyfriend already had paid for his drinks. So then I asked about if they do military discounts then(my boyfriend is in the navy) he said yes. So I said then give us five dollars back bc there was no sign saying military discount or what not. He said no he can’t do that. With that I shook his hand and said I will never be returning there again and I mean it. If you are wanting to get customers back this is df not the way to treat first time goers or a person serving in the military.

You shouldn’t advertise free entry after a woodlands concert on the radio and then deny entry because of dress code upon arrival. Bad advertising.

Awesome place. Loved it. We were stuck on a layover at Houston airport(see other review) so we made the best of it and went for a steak. Asked at the bar if there were any authentic Texan dance saloons and he directed us here. First off, the bartender warned us there was a dress code, so I had the taxi driver stop at the 24⁄7 Wal-Mart to get some Wranglers($ 15) and shoes($ 20). I see some complained here about the dress code but I don’t think it’s unreasonable given all those cowboy boots possibly hitting my sandalled feet. Then we get to there. Things are big in Texas? No sh*t Sherlock! The place is HUGE! I’m an old guy(52) so maybe not very threatening, but the bouncers were polite, and the $ 5 cover fee I didn’t think was outrageous. So then you get in, there’s loads of pool tables on the right, and a bar, then you see a big ‘racetrack’ dance floor and a bar in the middle, plus a couple of other bars elsewhere. Country music playing that I had never heard(I’m from Boston, go figure) of but everyone else seemed to think it was well known. Anyways, long story short, within minutes of getting a couple of drinks($ 9 for a Bud Light and a mixed vodka drink! but this was Saturday so maybe a promotional price??) A crazy lady with sparkly gold boots was talking to us and taking me on to the dance floor to teach me two stepping. Meanwhile people talking to my wife, all very friendly, all just very sweet and nice people. Great atmosphere, great fun, nice people, cheap drinks, music and dancing — what more could anyone want? Couple of things. They kept announcing ‘SMOKEFREE!’ like it was a big deal. Which of course back East all places are smoke free. So I can imagine with all those cowboys smoking it could have been smelly etc before but there was zero smoke. Nice. Finally, the people. One of the things that keeps me away from the South in general(including TX) is my perception of the racism etc. I really hate that. But there were all sorts in here. Black dudes dancing with white girls, big girls dancing with skinny cowboys, a little person dancing with a woman 2 feet taller than him, two guys doing a break dancing dance off, like in the ‘Starsky and Hutch’ movie, if you’ve ever seen that. Fantastic. And no-one getting at anyone or seeming to object. Lot’s of laughs and fun but none of it nasty or aggressive. So I think it turns out that maybe I’m the schmuck that needs an attitude adjustment about folk down south — these people were excellent and friendly and I would definitely go again. Good work, keep it up Big Texas — staff and patrons…

Went here with some Houston friends and it was a an experience to be here. Were not in Vegas anymore son ! The Good: There were some friendly people but what was even better was the Wednesday special they had. We started a bill and boy did the drinks fly. The Bad: Kinda needs better ventillation. When in Texas do what the Texans do … Drink and 2 step… they had some great dancers up there and a lot of puhrrtty ladies =) This could definitely be a fun place to go and meet up some locals. Keep an open mind and just experience the local wild life. Yeehaw!

This place was HUGE and apparently only gets crowded Wednesday nights. The DJ told me that more than 1,000 people show up on Wednesdays for line dancing. My group got here Thursday night. Drinks are CHEAP(9 drinks for $ 14?! WHAT). I didn’t like the DJ at all though. I kept telling him that LA/NY folks are here… so play some hip hop. I also requested him to play the dougie twice and he said, «Nope don’t do songs twice»…yet he played«Call Me Maybe» like 3 times.

Sighhh. My friends and I were amped up to visit here, but it started poorly from the get-go. My wife and I arrived with another couple. I was immediately stopped at the door by the door man checking id’s, and apparently people. We wouldn’t let me in due a hole larger than 3 fingers or something in my jeans. They weren’t sloppy jeans, they were ‘designer’ jeans so to speak(at least as designer as I get). The jeans looked just fine is my opinion. but he lead to lecture me that they have a standard to uphold and don’t allow sweater or sandals. Which I saw many of later that night. I ended up darting over to Kohls to pick up another pair of jeans. Once we got back and into the bar, everything was decent enough. Ordered a couple beers while happy hour was still going on. 10 minutes later they finally arrive and the waitress tells up happy hour ends at 10. but its really 9.30 so you might as well order another round. weird but ok, bring us another. 15 minutes later they finally arrive. The waitress is SLOW as molasses. They were live on q93 for part of the night and played some great music. No complaints there, they kept the good music pumping the entire night we were there. We ventured into the karaōke room and listened to a few people sing, they did pretty well. After a few hours, the smoke really starts to get to you. As you look around more and more, this place is full of chain smokers. cigarette after cigarette. I, personally, just cannot take that for long periods of time and I find it extremely distasteful. The pathetic service continued all night, especially when we asked for our bills. It took her at least 15 – 20 minutes before she finally returned with our bills. All of which were incorrect. Before we could even say anything about the bill, she started crossing the totals out and adding on the last beer she had just brought. She brought my 2 friends one more, but not I as we were prepping to leave. Apparently I was guilty by association and got charged for another beer. I told her I wanted a copy of the receipt as it was clearly nearly double what it should have been. .She said I’lll have to go get it… Rather than wait another 20 minutes I signed what I had and went on my way. Good music, good place to dance if you don’t mind the smoke and horrible waitress service… I will say I saw some ‘slobs of people’ there. I can’t believe they wouldn’t let me in with a hole in a jeans, but they would let some of these other idiots into the place in their atrocious clothing and tshirts. That my rant for the day

HOWDY. I’m obsessed. Now this is Texas. If you are looking to have a good time in your cowboy hat, boots, and Wrangler jeans, you’ve come to the right place. There is a huge dance floor that wraps around a central bar and pool tables on the side. On Wednesday nights there are free dance lessons from 7:00 until 8:30 pm. Come on down and learn how to line dance, two step, and such. Drinks are cheap, $ 1.75 to $ 4.00 max. Come early because they start charging cover after 8pm. This place has such character. The crowd is a mix. There are people in there 20s to their 60s. Come out to this Texas Saloon and I guarantee you your night will be full of fun.
