Update: I still frequent this establishment very often. They have very reasonable prices considering the quality and amount of food they give you. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Always fresh and always fast. Love it here!

I ordered the fajita taco originally wanting a fajita. But I guess they only serve it as a taco, or burrito. While this place is good, it wasn’t my favorite spot!

Went here on a whim, because I had a craving for a wet burrito. I went with the chicken wet burrito. From the looks it looked mighty fine, but the taste was just not there… The sauce was a bit too smokey, and the chicken was rubbery. I was only able eat half of the burrito because it was just not appetizing.

El Taco express has the best tacos in the Eugene/Springfield area. They are delicious and cheap!

This place is soooo good. Looks a little sketchy due to the location, but I assure you it is worth the trip inside. Mmmmm!

El Taco is the best fast Mexican food in town! Huge menu, fast service, family owned, really good food! I’ve been there over 20 times, always get a burrito, switch it up every time, never disappointed. Kind of looks a little deceiving, not fancy at all, but a great lunch stop!

Great flavors, very fast friendly service! Probably one of the best deals in town. Pork & beef enchiladas were very good as was the Pork Plate.

I should give it 5 stars, but for the décor– don’t look and the bathroom– don’t visit! The food? Serving sizes are enormous. Size isn’t everything and at El Taco Express it certainly isn’t because the food is damned good! Everything! My personal fav: hard tacos! Any flavor— try them all, because the toppings vary w the meat choice. Occasionally, I order the Tostada or Taco Salad– Yum! If your preference is a burrito, you’re headed to the right place– they are huge– stuffed w plenty of meat! If you’re a fan of authentic Menudo, this is the place to be! I ordered it once – never again– it was packed w tripe and everything else that makes a great soup. Wish I could order up the broth and toppings, sans tripe– I’d eat that all day long! We used to live up the hill on Kelly Butte and I cannot express how much I miss pulling in here right before they close, after I’ve worked late, so I could bring home plenty of food for the 3 of us for $ 15! Oh and we love their grilled jalapeños, spicy salsa and pico de gallo, too! Just GO! But, be forewarned: if it’s anywhere near lunch or dinner hour, the line is usually out the door! On the bright side: they serve your order up fast!

This place was highly recommended so I thought I would try it. I ordered tacos al pastor and waited quite a while for my food. really wasnt impressed at all when I received a Styrofoam container that kind of looked like a mess of beans, vegis and tortillas sloppily thrown into a container. have not returned since! the food was ok but I couldnt help but wonder as I was eating if I would regret this later that evening.

I really like this place. May not be the cleanest, but the staff make up for that. Very friendly and very good food. Very affordable as well. One of my favorite lunch spots. I love the Oregon burrito and the cubana. Their horchata is top notch too. I’d recommend this place for a quick bite.

Roasted jalapeños on ice with pickled onions, peppers, and carrots. Horchata poured from a bucket. Endless Pepsi drinks. The place may look like nothing much, but the food is crafted with pride and love from honest ingredients. The chile verde is tasty. Good rice and beans. Salsas to rave over, both the tangy bright hot green and the smoky dark red. Every bite of their food has been delicious. They are often SLAMMED, and the same three guys(it seems) are always there just banging out one order after another, with calm good humor. Full disclosure: I went in there one time after work in chef pants and they Hooked Me Up with family-meal portions at their usual amazingly cheap prices. Their delicious carnitas taco is $ 1.75, and I don’t think you can beat either the taco OR the price anywhere in town.

Great little hole in the wall taco shop. The prices are unbeatable and the food is really good. My husband and I are originally from Southern California so our standard for Mexican food is pretty high. This place can contend with some of the best in SoCal.

This is one of those places that doesn’t look like anything special from the outside, and really makes you question if you should eat here or not. I actually avoided it for years because of how it looked. My neighbor dragged me in here once, saying I just had to try it. Since this person was buying breakfast, who was I to say no? So I tried it. I have to admit, for a small divey-ish looking place in a tiny strip mall in Springfield, it was pretty damn good. I had a breakfast burrito, which was gigantic! I definitely had seconds, and thirds. It was big. I’d be surprised if my husband even finished one of them, and he can eat. The service was surprisingly great too. It’s a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and everyone is friendly. We went in fairly early, before the line started. Once people started coming in, the place was suddenly overflowing with people. It was obvious they do a big business and are really popular. I’ll definitely be back. I just need to convince my husband to try it out with me now.

Feel at home in this local taco shop. Small restaurant in a little strip mall in Springfield. I get excited when I see the window paint of tacos and quesadilla from afar :) We tried the Oregon Burrito today, as it is close to my favortie burrito from home the«California burrito»(ya Oregon stole that name). It has Carne asada, French fries, guacamole, sour cream, and pico. It is interesting with the ruffle fries they use. I’m more used to the straight cut fries, but it was fine. It could definitely use a little more guacamole and sour cream, but the burrito was huge and they weren’t skimpy on the meat! My wife got the same and she wasn’t as impressed as I was, but then again she thinks Chipotle is real Mexican food. I would definitely come back to try some other menu items. The breakfast burritos are calling my name!

to me, this is how an American taqueria should be, with a large space for seating, quick service and low prices their Tacos are very filling and full of taste, with a double tortilla outside and a lot of meat and fresh veggies inside, and they come in 15 different flavors! I seriously wonder where in Eugene/Springfield you can find a better price-to-quality ratio for food, and all I have left to say is that we’ll have to come back to try the burritos

Saw the rave reviews on Unilocal, and was thrilled to find out that it was just a hop, skip, and a jump away. It is located in a kind of run down and unremarkable looking neighborhood mall, so it’s easy to miss. Went there around peak lunchtime, 12:30 pm, so the wait time was long. When the food finally arrived, was shocked to see how gigantic the portions were, especially my steak and potatoes breakfast burrito. My boyfriend’s chimichanga was so large that he could barely finish it, and he’s a big eater! We left feeling stuffed to the max, but felt that taste-wise, Burrito Boy is better. My boyfriend found the meat in his chimichanga to be a bit dry. Our food was a bit bland, though the steak in my breakfast burrito was very tender and moist. In summary: Pros: –Huge portions –VERY affordable prices –All day breakfast items –Good variety of menu items Cons: –Wait time can be long –Somewhat bland food

Carnitas burrito — HUGE, mammoth, gigantic even! The meat was tender and flavorful. It wasn’t nearly as good as their tacos but it’s definitely a big burrito! Horchata — Delicious and creamy, one of my favorites. Salsa — If you don’t like hot avoid their salsas altogether.

Absolutely the best Mexican food in Eugene*. They have the Oregon burrito which is basically a burrito with fries, great chimichangas, fantastic nachos, and their breakfast burritos are amazing(and only $ 5). My favorite is the steak and egg burrito and sometimes I ask if I can get that with fries when I’m exceptionally hung over. If you’re looking for good Mexican at a decent price in Eugene or Springfield check out El Taco. * excludes fancy Mexican food spots

We have our favorites here and order take-out often. We have found the flavor, consistency and quality to be superior. Don’t judge a book by its cover. It may not look like much, but there is always a huge line at mealtimes. Our favorites are the chicken tacos and the Super Burrito. When I find a favorite I stuck with it but my husband has tried different burritos and other plates. Everything is great! The meats are always seasoned/marinated to perfection and the fresh vegetables are always crisp. I recommend take out for convenience and speed. They don’t have space to accommodate larger groups than 8 and that’s only if you’re lucky and the tables aren’t already taken. I would love to see them in a new location. We love ordering from here when friends and family visit from out of town. It’s definitely out favorite Mexican food place in the area!
