The girl at the counter peered into my soul as i waited to place an order. I gave her my her whole order and she remained silent. The majority of our group got their food in 15 minutes, but one order came out when everyone else was finished eating. The food was decent, but there are better places to get the same kind of food.

Based on a recommendation, we decided to give Wok Star a shot. We walked into the restaurant and there was only one other customer. The young lady behind the counter did not greet us when we entered. As we approached the counter, she simply stared at us. No smile. No gesture. Just a flat, glazed over look of someone who did not enjoy her job. Perhaps she was having a bad day? With that thought in mind, my partner and I both took turns greeting her. We received little more than a mumble and she continued staring as if to say«what is it you want?». We decided to spend our funds on dinner elsewhere. Sadly, we will never know if the food was as outstanding as reported by our friend. In a town where there are ample, delicious options for Chinese/Asian food I think we will be okay.

Wok Star made some bacon fried rice for the recent bacon fest and it was delicious so we thought we would try the place for lunch. We skipped the small buffet and ordered off the menu, generals chicken, wok star chicken and orange chicken. The food was out quickly, served hot and large portions but the flavor just didnt deliver. The generals was sort of one dimensional, neither sweet nor spicy and the wok star chicken seemed to be a derivative of the generals with copious amounts of black pepper added on. The orange chicken was also lacking in both orange and overall flavor. While not generally bad, there are a number of better Asian style restaurants to go to into Springfield offering much tastier fare.

Ordered General Chicken at 7:12 tonight. There were 4 people eating, myself and 3 others waiting for food. After being ignored, I asked how much longer it would be. That was at 7:45. She told me she’d check and let me know. At 7:50, after she’d come back out to the counter, grabbed the phone and didn’t utter a word to me, I’d seen enough. Enjoy my $ 6. That’s the last you’ll see from me.

Food wasn’t bad, menu was uninformative, it didn’t tell you the ingredients so when I got food that was 90% vegetables and hardly anything else I was disappointed. The chow mein tasted like cheap chicken noodle soup was used as the base.

Good food and really friendly service! I had the general chicken combo and my wife had the sweet and sour chicken combo. Both were very good and came with rice, two crab rangoon, and one egg roll. Very hefty portions and very fresh tasting. My only complaint is that the space is kind of cramped but you get over that quickly.

This place has jumped to the top of the list for #1 General Tao! Spicy comes in 1 to 5. I recommend 2. I had 3 and needed to tone it down with sweet sauce. All white meat chicken was crisp and tender. Sauce was thick. Veggies, onion, carrot, and broccoli were crisp as they should be and the pile of rice was perfectly cooked. The crab Rangoon were crisp with a slight sweet taste. The egg roll was flat tasting but stuffed with pork. I think it was the lack of crunch that has me leaving it off my next order. A very good first experience over all. It may not happen every visit but today I received a free ice cream bar! Try this place out!

We got take out in a week day. Service was average but quick and the staff was pretty nice. I got the cashew chicken which comes with all white meat which is nice, and the sauce was good but nothing crazy. Beef and broccoli was very good had lots of fresh veggies and a medium thick sauce on the scale of Springfield cashew sauces. Overall the food was pretty good and fairly reasonable in price, but the décor on the inside is a little strange. This was a first for me with rock music playing in a Chinese place. But hey, it is Wok Star.
