I like the view and location. It’s right on the water so it’s pretty sitting outside. The food is hit or miss. I got the fish spread and it was good but the crackers were so stale! I ended up ordering a side of tortilla chips which were hot and fresh! My girlfriend had the wings and she loved them. I had the potato soup which was tasty. My biggest complaint was our server. They were really busy and really understaffed the last time we went. The girl who waited on us initially was really sweet and quick. The second girl who took our food order was rude and seemed like she was in a hurry but everything we placed with her took forever. She us an attitude when I asked her for chips instead of my stale crackers. I didn’t get her name but she is a twin and her twin had a sling on her arm. Maybe she was just having a bad day but she put a bad taste in our mouth. We will only be back when Joel is working. He is the best!

The only reason I would go back here is because the food was good, and happy hour was decent. Other then that the service was terrible, and the manager was beyond rude. My boyfriend and I both ordered a burger that came with cheese and bacon, when we got our food and started to eat, there was no bacon, and we had subbed out for a different cheese. Okay so no problem on the bacon server said she would have our ticket adjusted, we also bought the groupon that was going on(which is what brought us there) well when we get our bill that’s taken off, but no discount for no bacon and we are charged .50 cents for cheese!!! So we go inside, waitress argues with us that we can only do one discount, well not our fault the food came out wrong, so mgr comes over and says, it’s a matter of $ 2(which the money wasn’t the issue, the whole principle of it was) and says if that’s going to get you guys out of here, I’ll take care of it. What a rude ass he was. So I would not recommend going, unless you want terrible service and to be talked to like crap.

My wife and I are locals and we finally tried this place last night. Great drinks, great atmosphere and our bartender Ellie was fantastic. The wings were cooked perfectly. I am not sure why it took us so long to try this place… We will be coming back soon!

Discovered this place on the way to Treasure Island beach. I had the ahi tuna sandwich, he had the oyster po boy. Food and service was excellent. Fish was very fresh. My one complaint is that the entrance should be signed better. We parked in the lot next to the water and didn’t realize we had to walk thru the shopping center to get to the entrance.

Had a Groupon. Went for lunch on Tuesday — just a handful of guests, basically had the patio to ourselves. Right on the water it was so peaceful. Service was great — not overbearing, not non-existent, just right. Husband had the Oyster Junk — said it was Ah-Maz-Ing! I had the Ceasar salad with blackened shrimp — YUM. Great if you’re looking for super casual bar-type food. Checking in with Unilocal gets you a free draft beer :)

Margarita special was great — BOGO Margaritas for $ 6, and they were delicious. However, food and service fell very short of our expectations. There was a painful wait for our order to be taken, drinks and food to arrive, and even to get the check. The Grouper«special» came out and was extremely under seasoned, and also the sides were not even the same as the server described! Our table also ordered the Gulf Coast Grouper which was decent, but came out lukewarm and mildly under-seasoned. Glad we had the Groupon to make up for the disappointing visit. TL; DR – Recommend going here for drinks and to enjoy the view. Food is bland, overpriced, and service is slow.

This place was fun for lunch. We ordered a lot of food, the Avocado Frita was the best by far!!! I am primarily vegetarian but occasional splurge for oysters/clams etc. and the oyster Po Boy was delicious. Conch fritters were decent, my boyfriend said they were good. He got the spicy chicken sandwich which he said was good. Fries were amazing… Even cold the next day. Our waitress was friendly and attentive.

Had a fabulous time. Hanging with mom who lives close to salty rim. Server/bartender Chelcie was awesome. Felt like I was at home. I ordered the grouper sandwich and I loved it. Being a Florida girl I know great grouper. I highly recommend this place.

I am so disappointed with my food. I ordered Gulf Coast Grouper, I was so excited, and then when the food came I’m just so disappointed. I’m disappointed because the price and the portion was not worth it, not fair, and unbalanced. I know Groupers are expensive, but I think they kinda ripped me off. I paid for $ 23.54 just for a small fillet of Grouper, Rice with Coconut, Coleslaw, and a lil bit of like a Tartar Sauce. The Coleslaw also didn’t taste good at all, the rice was good though I like it. To be honest though, the Grouper fillet tasted good but it’s just not worth it between the portion and the price. Bubba Gump have better deal for their food, and some other restaurants have better deal for Groupers, and I looked up already. One thing is good in this restaurant is just the location, plus they have free beer if you checked in using your Unilocal, that’s it.

The food here is fresh, but either my taste buds weren’t working properly or I just had a bunch of flavorless food at lunch. Ambience is typical touristy/ocean theme inside. A/C didn’t seem to be on or working, so we chose to sit outside since it was nice out. We ordered a few apps: the Avocado Almond Frita and the Seafood Margarita. The fried avocado was good, but really needed to be seasoned. The sauces that came with it were good, but need to be slathered over the avocado to make it taste like anything. The seafood margarita was really fresh, but once again, it really needed salt(which wasn’t on the table) or some seasoning! For lunch I had the Greek salad with blackened chicken. Once again, everything was really fresh but their in-house dressing was kinda sad. It was mostly olive oil, and didn’t taste like much of anything. Their potato salad wasn’t Greek potato salad, but just okay. It looks like this place is worth mostly coming for the drinks. I wanted to like this place since the food is fresh and the waterfront views are nice, but for the price you pay for flavorless food, I don’t think I’ll come back.

Ok… I won’t eat here. Unless it’s chips lol The food is not good and food poisoning has happened to more then one visitor. However…the water views… dolphin sightings. .outside seating… live music and decently priced drinks keep drawing me back. The brit amongst us really enjoyed it and of course the tourists bond with him and locals are fascinated by the accent. Silly Americans sometimes. Anyway.it’s a good place to drink and chill. Inside or out. Eat at your own risk

For what I came here for it’s pretty much what I expect from an outdoor dive bar on the water! Covered outdoor bar with a view of the intercostal with a nice breeze! The crowd is in the 40’s and 50’s age range. Pitcher of reasonably cold bud light for 6 $, hard to beat that! Where does it lose points you ask? The deck transfers vibrations as people walk around. The chairs are wooden and not especially comfortable. And while the beer was reasonably cold, to get closer to that perfect range it has to be spot on. Didn’t come to eat so I’ll have to report back on that at another time.

This place is just mediocre. We’ve stopped in a few times now — a couple times for drinks and once for dinner. The scenery is nice since it’s located right on the water, but other than that they’re isn’t anything too special about this place. The bar: They have some decent drink specials — If you check in on Unilocal, you get one free domestic draft. Then they usually have BOGO margaritas. So between my boyfriend and I we can usually get a good amount of drinks for pretty cheap! The bartenders however are usually out of sight so be prepared to wait a bit sometimes. Dining: We stopped in the other night and used a groupon for our dinner. We went with the conch fritters and the fried fish and chips. The conch fritters were pretty delicious. The fish and chips were huge! My boyfriend and I ordered two, but we could have easily split them. I wish this place had more going on. It’s not too bad of a placed between drink prices and scenery, but at the same time there is something lacking with their atmosphere and service.

I wanted to find a place where we could sit, relax and enjoy good food and drinks. Mission accomplished! My husband and I both had the chicken Santa Fe sandwich. We both agreed it was probably one of the best sandwiches we have had in a long time! It was not too busy when we went but, with speaking with our waitress she said yesterday it was crazy busy. Well for us today was perfect. We will be back!

We had Ncrowd coupon(half off depot). So we drove quite a way to have a day out of town. We loved our meals. Wife had chicken tacos. I had fish and chips. Both were great. Sort of hot out in the sun but it is August. Music from two guys was good. Server was right on top of things. We will be back.

The only reason this place is getting two stars is because it’s on the water, albeit intracoastal, has an outdoor bar and has live music at times. Only thing that got us in the door to begin with was a $ 20 for $ 13 groupon, but in hindsight, I’d prefer to have spent the extra $ 7 elsewhere. My wife, toddler and I visited on a Saturday evening about 8:30p, in August. It’s been very rainy lately, so typically you’re used to walking out of Florida’s humidity into a wall of cool air when entering a dining establishment. For whatever reason, it was actually warmer inside Salty Rim, and had a slightly foul odor that smelled like a cross between cleaning products and fish. We would have sat outside, but it had been raining on and off and they only had four total tables that were completely under cover; two were filled, the other two were empty but right next to the speakers from the one-man band. Someone who I later determined was a bar back or bus boy, greeted us and asked how many were in our party. He turned and walked away, leading me to believe we were supposed to follow him and he just had no communication skills. Turns out he was just asking us that for no particular reason because the actual host came up as we were starting to walk. He seated us and a server arrived shortly thereafter. Salty Rim is about two miles south of VIP Mexican Restaurant which is well known for having great strong $ 5 margaritas. The server advised us of a two for one margarita deal, I inquired if they were strong since I like that, she said she could make them strong so we ordered those and the«Seafood Margarita» app, which is $ 11 and described as crab, shrimp, fish and fresh salsa. Our drinks arrive, they are definitely not anywhere near what I’d describe as strong. The app arrives next. «Salsa» is mostly huge chunks of tomatoes with some onions mixed in. Then what would probably be a small ice cream scoop dollop of crab meat is on top with perhaps three small shrimps and a few pieces of generic white fish. The chips are those three color type, were not warm and were not entirely crunchy, leading me to believe they were most likely not«home made» as the menu describes. The crab tasted fine, but all but the massive pile of tomatoes was gone in about four bites, so you’re not getting a lot for $ 11 unless you enjoy eating a pile of tomato. For entrees, we ordered shrimp & grits and ropa vieja. I realize we’re not in Charleston, SC, or the formal«South» for that matter, but these were the worst shrimp & grits ever prepared. The grits were clumps of tasteless mush with a horrible consistency. Not sure how they got it to melt, I’d like to believe not a microwave, but there was cheese of varying thickness somewhat melted over them; it tasted like Velveeta slices. There was some shrimp scattered about and then bacon that was too thick for the way it was(under) cooked, so it was mostly just leathery and required a lot of chewing to make it through. About half of this meal was left on the table rather than put in a to go box; it was simply horrible. The fact that it was $ 17 is just ridiculous. The ropa vieja was not as bad, but not something I’d ever order again. Being in Tampa Bay, there are a lot of great Cuban restaurants around, where you can get GOOD ropa vieja, and this is not in that category. The cut of meat was not the problem, it was simply not very seasoned at all, so there was not much taste. It came with a side of beans, which I had high hopes for as I could see pieces of sausage and onions mixed in, so I was expecting a lot of great flavor; nope, dead and lifeless. With the ‘strong’ margaritas tasting mostly like mix, I switched to my go to drink, Bacardi and Diet Coke. Not sure what they served me, but it wasn’t that, and it was weak. I had had about enough at this point, having suffered through the meal, in the heat, and had a mosquito bite(we saw several over the course of the dinner) as a bonus, so I didn’t complain, we just paid and left. I’d like to say I’ll try some of their other items next time, but not sure if there will be a next time given the far better options in the surrounding area.

I would give this place a 4.5, but since you can’t do half points I’ll round it up to a 5. Went here on a Saturday night with 5 adults and 1 baby. Salty Rim is on the intercostal waterway and we sat on the deck overlooking the water. It’s a pretty nice space and we even were able to see some Dolphins jumping. They ask had a guy playing guitar and singing, and while it made it a little loud he had a good voice so it could’ve been worse Drinks: Saturday has BOGO margaritas, so everyone decided to partake in that. Everyone agreed that the margaritas were awesome and didn’t have that premade mix taste like a lot of places. Also was a good size margarita. Food: everyone really enjoyed their meals! The tuna poke was good as was the fish and chips — probably one of the best(freshest) fish and chips I’ve had and a HUGE portion with fries and blueberry coleslaw — I had to share my fish with my dad and sister because I was so stuffed. My mom also had the lemon chicken which was very good! My chief complaint about Salty Rim is the smoking on the back deck. I understand it’s outside, but being as none of us are smokers and I personally bothered by the smell, it was a bit annoying halfway through the meal to have a table of smokers start lighting up and smoking right by us.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when walking in here, but what draw us here was the free beer for checking in with Unilocal.I must admit that I was surprised to see how big the burger was that I ordered was huge and it was very good, I got the bbg burger and it came w/bacon, cheese, and onion strings and I didn’t realize that it was a ¼ lb burger. I got a yuenling and it was nice and cold, which after the gecko fest, I needed something nice and cold. The have 10TV’s on the inside and four or five on the outside(didn’t sit out there, way too hot). The service was not the best, but the food did make up for it.
