O’Maddy’s Bar & Grille

Excellent service from Jenn. Delicious food, and a beautiful view. Would definitely go back again!!!

I love this little gem in Gulfport.
The bar is always really busy but the bartenders are fast and on top of it.
I had a Bloody Mary and it was pretty good.
The food took longer than expected so I got a bag of Cheetos from the bar while we waited!
My girlfriend had the wings. OMG they are so good.
I had the hangover burger. AMAZING.
We will come back again. We love this place

Simply put: gourmet dining in a dive bar.
This was our first visit to O’Maddy’s, in the funky little bayside town of Gulfport. They don’t take reservations for small parties, so when we arrived at 6pm on a surprisingly bustling Tuesday we were told the wait would be about 40 minutes (it was closer to 30 though). We thoroughly enjoyed the wait and the beautiful view; strolling the pier across the street from the restaurant, while watching dolphins jumping in the waters.
Seating is primarily outdoors on sidewalk and patio and that’s where you want to be (remember that dive bar reference). The small indoor area had a gaping hole in the middle of the floor roped off with «caution» tape & «pardon our appearance» signs. I was afraid I’d fall in, never to be heard from again, when tip-​toeing by on my way to the skanky restroom (mens room includes an ice-​filled communal horse trough-​like urinal). Bar patrons appeared to be a jolly mix of long lost hippies, biker dudes, beach bums & regular bums. But enough about that, it’s all about the food here.
Everything we ate, from simple sandwiches to dinner specials was fantastic & quite reasonably priced. Portions were more than adequate. Servers were pleasant and efficient. Standout items at our table were the Julie’s Calamari Salad appetizer & a «Lobster Tuesday» special of grouper over gouda mashed potatoes & lobster sauce.
The quality of the food, service, drink specials, view and even the quirky divey ambience made our visit to O’Maddy’s special. We’ll be back!

Place is dirty needs a good cleaning — the fish was no where near being fresh. Smelled very fishy — waitress had an attitude.
I will not go back.

Though I only live 6 miles from this restaurant, I have never been here. Great location with views of the water from pretty much every seat in the place.
Bit of a wait on a Saturday night but, as it turns out, it was worth the time spent.
Atmosphere: for me a 10, always nice being close to or on the water
Service: kinda tough to judge honestly because they were packed, but I’d say an 8
Food: had the crab cake dinner. As for flavor the crab cakes were a 9. But, they came out warm, not hot. Seemed odd considering how busy the kitchen was. Bit of a letdown, so have to give them a 6. But would give them another try down the road. Have to give the salad a 10 though, could’ve made a meal out of it.
Price: $ 17 for the crab cake dinner which included the salad.
Will likely return.

Tremendous lunch on a beautiful day. I had the grilled Mahi Reuben with a delicious cucumber salad with fresh ginger and rice wine vinegar. Probably the best sandwich I have ever eaten. My dining partner had a great burger, cooked perfectly. His dessert was the «bomb». A piece of chocolate dream cake with fresh just made incredible vanilla ice cream with fresh whipped cream folded into it. Our server Suzie (relocated from Mt. Shasta, CA) was great with the most excellent service anyone could want! Excellent menu as well. Great variety. Sat on the patio, which is covered with umbrellas and a cool breeze off the bay.

If you’re looking for a restaurant with a view and outdoor seating, it’s a great place. However, the food wasn’t all that impressive. It was good, but there are better places. Lobster Mac and cheese is good, but the sandwiches are mediocre.

The bartenders are my favorite servers; they are personable, provides good customer service, have a good memory of your orders (especially if you are a regular), and attentive even on their busy nights/​days.
I stick with certain appetizers (lobster roll) and salads (caesar salad with/​without shrimp and salmon salad). Periodically, I’ll venture off and try one of the specials. For a bar, the food is really good. When I’ve invited friends to dine with me, they too are wowed.
They have karaōke and a wifi jukebox. During the week, they also have performers there and they are good also. Oh and the view is awesome.

I wouldn’t come back even though the food was delicious because this restaurant is filthy. Our waitress was great, as was the food. The owner should have the whole place power washed.

If you are in Gulfport and it’s not raining, I recommend stopping in for food and beverage. What the heck, even if it is raining stop by and go indoors. However, the outdoor seating is very nice.
I just had Jenn’s Homemade Southwest Quinoa Burger. I’m not a vegetarian but wanted something besides the usual bar food. This burger was absolutely delicious. Tons of flavor with a little Southwest heat.
I will be back for another one of these and a sample of something different.

Overpriced and not very tasty. But the place is lively and always crowded. Nice outdoor seating; live music; all ages seem to populate this beachfront joint.
I tried the blackened salmon salad based on other reviews… very unimpressed. Candied pecans not a wise addition. The salad could use more imaginative add-​ins, perhaps capers, red onion, mixed greens instead of just spinach.
Hubby had lobster salad on a roll… very bland, except for the strip of bacon. Fries were nicely crispy and tasty.
Perhaps these were not the best choices. Don’t think I’ll be back. Too many other better options in this delightful little seaside town.

Good food, but it is an outside open restaurant setting which makes it allow people to smoke. Nice outside view of course. I ate the salmon salad with pecans and cheese. My cousins enjoyed their dishes. Forgot what their dishes were called, but one look like a philli cheesesteak but it wasn’t a philli. I think it’s only worth to go once in a while with a nice visitor in town.

Stopped in twice in the past couple weeks. I’ve had a lot of out-​of-​town house guests lately and this is a great place to bring them because 1: they have lots of options. 2. they have lots of fresh seafood. 3. everything is always tasty.
Of these most recent visits the most impressive plates we’ve had are the tuna burger, the truffle fries, and the mussels. This is the first tuna burger i’ve had that’s in patty form with Ahi tuna, and not the typical solid tuna steak, but its awesome and super flavorful. Kinda like a shrimp burger. The truffle fries with parm are just carbohydrate crack. Not surprising… its truffle oil and cheese on fried food. And the mussels are nicely prepared and great bargain at $ 9.99.
Overall, my original opinion of O’Maddy’s still holds true: Yes you can get a $ 2 Genny Light and it looks like sloppy beach bar, but the food is actually really really good!!!

O’Maddy’s is a fun divey little bar and restaurant. Late nights it can be a fun place to sing karaōke and hang out. During the day the food is okay, lots of sandwiches, chicken wings, etc– not a lot of vegetarian options — but some. The portions can be inconsistent visit to visit. But the staff is generally great.

Fantastic atmosphere that also offers live music and scrumptious food! Also the Reese’s cheesecake is incredible

We went here after a friend recommended it. To be fair, it was cold for outdoor dining on the night we went but the hostess assured us that the outside heaters were on and it was cozy. It was… cozy…and chilly.
We were starving when we arrived so we needed an appetizer. We chose the honey chipotle wings. They were edible but flavorless, served with bottled ranch dressing.
Our meals came with soup or salad. We both opted for the lobster bisque. It was rich, but nice and warm and by this point we were cold!
For dinner I made the mistake of ordering the bananas foster mahi mahi, one of the house specialties. When it came out, it looked like a bowl of goopy plantains in syrup. Upon further inspection, there was a minuscule piece of fish beneath the syrup but you could have gone into diabetic shock getting to it. I guess it was my own fault given the name «bananas foster» mahi mahi. I should have guessed!
My husband got the seafood over pasta (I forget what it was called) but he liked it ok. It was a good size portion and it came with a soft warm pretzel roll. Not bad.
I doubt we’ll go back, but if we do, I’d definitely stick with a sandwich!

I was there during my Florida vacation, and SO glad we went. Their food is amazing. Specifically I got the Bananas Foster Mahi Mahi fish with a side of coconut rice. It was one of the top 5 meals I’ve ever had. Fish was fresh, the sauce was amazing, rice was great. I can’t possibly say enough about this place. Drinks were great as well. When I’m in town next, I’m coming back! And ya can’t beat the view.

Amazing Chef Wade who truly knows how to prepare fresh ingredients and the imagination to bring out amazing tastes. Been here many times and know to have a Chef Wade’s special and enjoy his creations. Chef Wade, you are truly a Chop’s Champion !
Servers and hostess attentive and concerned that you feel welcome and enjoy the experience. Mark, you were spot on as you were polite, gracious and very enjoyable as our server. Thanks to all the O’Maddy’s team for truly a great experience every time !

Great view, attentive staff, and the food has been rock solid each of our visits. Fantastic location to dock your boat at the pier and grab a meal. It looks touristy from the outside but doesn’t have that feel at all once you sit down.
Grouper Sandwich is near perfection. I will say that while I like the Irish Fries themselves, the gravy always tastes «funny» to me… like a chemical taste. I’ve just learned to ask them to hold it. Maybe I’m just accustomed to a southern style gravy.

UPDATE: I knocked this place down from 5 stars to 3 because the service has been shit the last three times I went in there. Food is still good though.
Love this place! Beautiful view of the bay, almost on the water, and great service. The steak sandwich with Irish fries is delicious. I just moved to Gulfport and this is already one of my regular hangouts.
