This place is a dump. As we walked to the cabin from the parking lot the first thing you notice is the roof. There are rubber tarps with bricks on the roof which look like they’ve been there a while, Along while. The additions to the back of the cabin look like the roof is about to cave in. When we entered the cabin it was literally like stepping back in time 50+ years. The carpet, the windows, the bar, the hostess counter everything looked like it had been there since the early 60’s and It smelled a 100 years old. However, once you are seated all of this makes absolutely zero difference. This was one of the best service and food experiences I have ever had. Our waitress Cindy was a top notch server as was every other server we witnessed during our visit. It was a Saturday night and the place was packed. Mostly with an older generation of 40 + years of age. Most of the customers were greeted by first name showing us this is a place for regulars. And at about $ 80 a person including tip, that says a lot. We had one of the best meals we ever had. Hubs ordered the stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer which were literally mushrooms stuffed with a gigantic lump of backfin crab. There were no fillers just the crab and they were spectacular. I had the crab soup which was very good. Hubs entrée was a filet with 2 Brazilian lobster tails $ 58. He said it was worth every penny. I had the Pasta Diana which was a Spicy Pasta dish loaded with huge lumps of backfin crab, beautifully large scallops, and extremely large gulf shrimp. It was delicious. I took a huge portion home and it was just as excellent for lunch the next day. We also got an order of the muscles to go. It being our Anniversary we were offered complimentary glasses of champagne. Our bill for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and a to-go order of muscles was $ 133. The quality of the food is top notch. The service is amazing. By the end of our meal Cindy felt like an old friend. There is definitely something special here at the Log Cabin. By the time we left we were endeared by the rustic old joint. Hubs was still talking about his Anniversary meal days later. We will be coming back for sure.

I love this place. Outstanding seafood and steaks off the beaten path in a rustic atmosphere. In the winter, they have a nice fire going in their huge fireplace. I took my frou frou friends from Olde Towne Alexandria here and they loved it. We had better food, sipped good liquor and wine and enjoyed the rustic atmosphere, roaring fire, and friendly waitstaff. My buddy and I ordered the Northeast Feast(lobster, crab legs, shrimp, clams, etc) AND ordered the 16 oz Delmonico(wives NOT impressed with the gluttony). The check was obviously large but we walked away feeling like we got a good value, good meal and good times were had. I asked the owner to name the two combined meals we ordered the Northeast Beast and offer it in the future as one. I will be inspecting the menu for the Northeast Beast when I return!

I loved this place. pricey for sure, but everything was delicious. The atmosphere makes this a great place for a cozy dinner. Service was stellar. Nothing negative to say… Loved it. will be back for sure. The only thing keeping this from being five star is that it’s all a little cramped and maybe just a bit too pricey… Wont keep me away though!

Want to start by saying this could easily be a 5 star review but I am grading it rather harshly because it was such an amazing overall experience. 1. No cell phones allowed. 2. The lights fixtures are rustic and cute but also a little intrusive. 3. The waiting area is terrific. Cozy, comfy couches, romantic lighting and rustic décor lend to a great atmosphere. 4. Servers(Noël) was wonderful. 5. The salad bar was severely lacking IMO. Lettuce, mushrooms & chopped onions(remember those 2 for later), green beans, Cole slaw, cucumbers, and bacon bits. Boring. The one redeeming item was the Apple Cider Vinigrette. I was drinking the stuff by the end of the night. Best dressing I’ve ever had, total game changer and saved the salad bar. 6. Pumpkin and pumpkin rum spiced-tini’s were awesome. The spiced was better IMO. 7. Crab chowder was delicious if a little rich. But I like rich and creamy. They went real heavy on the cream of mushroom soup base that’s for sure. 8. My steak was thick and juicy but a little bland. With salt and pepper and a dip of Apple cider Vinigrette it was delicious. Also, when I asked if I could have mushrooms and onions sautéed with the steak they said they didn’t have that ability… refer to item 5 above. 9. The broccoli casserole was buttery and delicious and I would order it again and every time after that. 10. My wife got the garlic 3 seafood medley over linguini. It was also fantastic. The portion would have been just enough to fill me but she was able to take some home. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. The reasons that caused me to take this from a 5 star to a 4 star: –Obtrusive light fixtures –inadequate salad bar –lack of onions/mushrooms for steak –it was expensive… really, really expensive. $ 110 for 2 meals, 2 soups and 2 drinks.

I came up to Virginia to visit my boyfriend and he took me to this delicious restaurant. It had a cozy, warm, romantic feel to it — definitely great for a date! We also had a wonderful Waitress, Noël, she was so helpful and energetic. The food was really good but I thought it was a little pricey. We had the clams casino, crab cakes, and maple salmon. Great food! Will come back and eat here again one day! :)

Nice atmosphere and very nice staff but, the food quality in comparison to the price is a mismatch. Its much more expensive than the quality. Yes, the portions are big but having a lot of «okay» food at a costly price isn’t really worth it. No options for smaller portions either. I enjoyed the visit but won’t be a returning customer unless they compromise more realistic prices.

A wonderful and cozy restaurant in Stafford. Friendly service. Steak and seafood were excellent. A nice wine list though it and beer selection could have been complimented with Virginia wines and beers.

I have eaten there twice to date. Each time I have eaten there the amount of people are slim to none. The first thing you notice when you pull into the parking lot you will see fresh tomato plants. To some degree it gives you a sense that they use fresh veggies. The Crab Stuff Mushrooms are amazing but yet not very large. The salad bar is typical of a place of that size. The New York Steak is fairly large and cooked to perfection. The broccoli casserole isn’t very large, but it is delicious. I would suggest this for a dating location and casual dining.

Ambiance was rustic, cozy & in many ways romantic. The staff was wonderful — so welcoming and friendly. The food(while a bit on the expensive side) was delicious and my blueberry mojito was to die for. Definitely try the broccoli casserole side dish & the apple cider vinaigrette at the salad bar! Steamed mussels were also amazing. Simply put — good food, great ambiance & staff! Good for families or for a date!

When we first walk in, my NYC snob children were apprehensive based on the rustic décor. boy, did they feel silly once we ate. We had a fantastic meal here. They had a lovely, fresh salad bar that was included with every meal, even the kids’ meals. The apple cider vinaigrette is not to be missed. They offer a broccoli casserole as a side that was fantastic. My husband and son loved the Three Seafood Pasta, it was a nice sized serving. I had the crab cakes which were really just chunks of crab held together with the tiniest bit of binder. Delicious. The Chocolate Crème Brûlée was absolutely divine and everyone really enjoyed it. Wonderful.

I have never eaten here but I plan to. I see your restaurant as I pass so I bookmarked to come by. The older reviews concern me but I note that Darrell M(presume owner) responds to each review personally. This type of care has peaked my curiosity. Also I would expect those issues to be resolved knowing the owner has digested the feedback.

It was good I was like going to mom-and-pop places it was really nice there but only thing that was not so great was the seat was sticky and a table was sticky but the food was good and I was like going to mom-and-pop shops so I’ll be back for sure always support your small local businesses ha ha As a update I made it a 4 star because the owner responded. That means a lot!!!

My in-laws adore this place– every special occasion(Valentine’s Day, New Years Eve, Anniversaries, etc) is greeted with a visit to the Log Cabin. I can understand why. It’s got an old-school vibe. With its cozy atmosphere and swing-era music, you feel like you’ve been transported to the 1950s(although some aspects of the restaurant look like they haven’t been updated since then). You’ll probably really love it if you check some expectations at the door. First off– it’s definitely a date night place, not a family-friendly place. You’ll need to bring your own seating arrangements for little ones who can’t fit in a booster seat, and you’re best off trekking back to your car to change a wet diaper(the hostess and bartender suggested bringing my child into bathroom and setting him on the floor. If you see their bathrooms you’ll understand why this is less-than-ideal). The food is expensive, and in the half a dozen times I’ve been here, hit-or-miss. The only time I left feeling like I’d really had a treat was when I opted for crab soup and a shrimp cocktail as my meal. I’ve had fresh salmon, norfolk style seafood and several seafood samplers, and the entrees have never really felt like they were worth the drive– or the money. For a $ 30 -$ 50 plate of food, I expect lobster and scallops to not be rubbery and shrimp to not have their tails curled under and require a knife for eating. That being said, there are some things that this restaurant does really well: — Friendly, courteous service — Good, fresh crab(they prepare it several ways, from chilled cocktail to tender crab cakes without the fillers) — Plump, substantial shrimp cocktail — Perfectly seasoned crab soup — Broccoli casserole you won’t find anywhere else — A bartender who can make a good Old Fashioned But if this were my restaurant, I would make a couple small changes: — Update the dingy, dirty-looking bathrooms(I’m know this is not the most important aspect of dining out, but it still makes an impression and makes one wonder how much care is taken in other areas of the restaurant the customer can’t see). — Install a plastic pull-down changing table in at least one of the bathrooms. As much as the restaurant isn’t intended for small children, it is a reality that folks with babies will come here. With what they’re charging, I’m pretty sure they could afford this simple change which will make such a big difference for parents. Overall, we’ll be back, because my in-laws are footing the bill. But would my husband and I ever come on our own accord? I’m not sure. I’m still waiting to be wowed.

We tried it and we liked it… alot… Quiet Tuesday evening where the four of us were doted over by the staff … Drinks were always full, hot bread was continuous, and our main dishes were excellent. The food was brought out HOT but not overcooked… I prefer my seafood at high temperature anyway so no problem with that… One of my group had the Seafood Platter, another steak(filet) and lobster, and another clam chowder and salad bar. I had Shrimp Diane(over pasta) prepared medium-spicy and I was very pleased with presentation and taste. Everyone else in my group was happy as well. Thanks Log Cabin. Your hospitality, friendly, warm location, and great tasting food were enjoyed by all!

Never again… The food was just okay. Everything was completely bland and overcooked. Dinner here was a huge disappointment, especially for those prices. Sheesh.

I am quite fond of this restaurant. As others have mentioned, the servers are so nice and the atmosphere is relaxing. I’ve never had a bad meal here — I feel like I’ve stepped into the nice house of a family friend whose auntie cooked me a special dinner. I wouldn’t call it «fancy,» but it has always been tasty, and I enjoy escaping from the little ones for awhile to have a quiet dinner and glass of wine with the hubby. I usually get one of the pasta dishes and have a bite or two of a side dish my husband orders — maybe the broccoli casserole? It’s something that comes piping hot in a little baking dish, and is very delicious. I have ordered the lobster before and wore the sweet plastic bib to the car to test my husband’s embarassment threshold. He didn’t even flinch… must be losing my touch.
