Mike’s Olympic Diner

The best tzatziki sauce ever! Food is decent diner food and service is very good.
Prices are pretty good

I was born and raised on the greatest island called Staten Island. I’ve been here a few times mostly at the late night hours. It’s a typical diner scene, clean inside and mediocre food at best. The prices are high for the food quality. Our waitress was great. It was I believe $ 8.25 for 6 mozzarella sticks which weren’t even that great.
The French toast was average and my aunt got some type of chicken sandwich which she enjoyed. The man who owns this place isn’t the friendliest and should in my opinion lower his prices a little bit. It’s a diner not a Steve Stat restaurant. I would come back here again but with the mindset of being drunk or no other places are open.
The menu is quiet big and it could take a while for somebody like myself to pick something out. I feel they should also shorten their menu because I think some of the items are rarely ordered and makes it confusing to know what really this place stands for and what’s good to eat. The coffee I ordered was ok at best.

Great food, fast service. I’ve been coming here for years and have never had an issue up until a few weeks ago. The issue was not the food everything was great as usual in that department!
I felt inclined to write my review based on a situation that made me and my husband very uncomfortable and kind of annoyed enough that I hope the owner reads this.
While dining, we couldn’t help but notice how incredibly rude and unprofessional the hostess (Kathy) was when not only seating us but the way in which she treated our waitress. Our waitress was a woman with short red hair (I don’t know her name) she was so incredibly kind, helpful, personable, spunky and it was clear that she has been doing her job for a long time. she was even joking with our 6 year old son who totally got a kick out of her.
Anyway, the hostess was so mean and demeaning to our waitress in front of the whole restaurant to point that my husband was so mad that he almost approached her to tell her that her behavior was terrible not only to her coworker but in front of patrons particularly our son. I convinced him not to and I now regret doing that. Someone needs to inform this women to treat people how she would like to be treated (even my 6 year old knows that!).
Like I said great food, wonderful waitress but Kathy (the hostess) put us in a very uncomfortable situation and I’m totally annoyed by it. When I return to the restaurant, I fully intend of informing the owner on what we experienced.

This place used to be great, now portion sizes have decreased and prices increased, food is still good just don’t see the value anymore, if anyone is listening last few times i’ve been there its been empty, go back to the old business model and you’ll pack the crowds again

They keep getting crappier and crappier. Nope… definitely not going to order from them again. Let’s hope that after waiting an hour and a half, they actually get the order right. I live down the street. This is nonsense.

I’ve been here around 3 – 4 times but this is the last time I’ll ever eat here again. The food was bland, the home fries were soggy, the waitress was sitting in the back with the other workers just chatting while I was done and waiting for my check. When I went to the front to pay one of the cashiers finished with the customer in front of me and just left when she was done meanwhile she saw that I was standing their, very vey rude. Never going back again.

So ive been to this place 3 or 4 times. Last night was the worst experience ever. I had ordered a «black jack burger» which was described to be a Cajun burger. When I received my order I spotted a bug on my burger immediately and they apologized and took my food away and said they would make me a new burger. 15 min later I get another burger which was very bland so I call the manager over and ask him what a black jack burger consists of and he goes «u ordered a black jack burger?» then walks away. 5 min. Later my waitress brings me over a bowl of spices which was poured straight from a spice bottle and I was expected to pour that on my burger and enjoy it. I immediately got up paid for my order which was only discounted 3 dollars and got a plain old sorry. So if u want bugs in your food and not so good service this is the diner for you.

I have eaten at this establishment twice. Both times service was sub par and both times I found hair in my food.

This place use to be very good but now I would never eat here again … the food came out cold the waiters and waitress look like drug addicts.. they have expired coors beer just not a place I would eat at ever again… i don’t like the fact that the waiter never asked me if I wanted anything else he just put the check on the table that’s rude … never again

What can I say. A diner is a diner. The food is ok and the prices are resonable. The customer service is ok. I would just recommend it if your really hungry.

my waitress got the order wrong and got an attitude wjen i mention it to her then charge me extra when i changed my order that she screwed up to begin with
do not waste your time or money at this diner
if you hungry and in that area go to brothers pizza for dinner
or even go across to burger king
you will get better food and service

Had their breakfast. The egg omelet was fine but the toast was burnt and the potatoes would have been better if they added some flavor to them, like onions.

Come here for breakfast. Servers are very friendly and the food comes out fast and hot.

It was everything you’d expect from a diner. The décor was art deco (not incredibly NICE art deco, they tried with the Bauhaus… fail.), but that’s not why America goes to diners.
She ordered french toast sticks (which were pretty good) with turkey bacon (not my favorite, but it’s cool), and I ordered a Belgian waffle with a flank steak… a thick one, medium rare. The steak was DOPE! Thick, juicy, nicely cooked on the outside, and pink on the inside… mmm! The waffle… typical. Good, but not uniquely great. Overall, it was decent. The wait staff, though, was incredibly friendly and funny. Really courteous, and very attentive (I liked how he kept coming back to ask us if we were okay, but not TOO often). I’d go again.

I love this diner and how convenient it is because I live a block away. The food is always great and I love how I can order on
to have food delivered. My favorites are the greek panini, gyro, chicken fingers with honey mustard and old-​fashioned french toast. Never any bad experiences!

Great late night have the munchies, need to sober up, have cravings for some eggs bacon and home fries then this is the place to be.

Accepts cash and credit and even has an ATM machine located outside.
Love there milkshakes with whip cream goes perfect with my burger. Thats how I roll.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner and also have desserts and a late night munchies menu which is all the fried greasy stuff that everyone loves even though you might have to hit the gym the next day or wake up with some pimples.

We usually have had no bad bad experiences at any of Mike’s Places. But the other night we decided to order from the Olympic Grill, we wanted Gyro and Spinach Pie. I ordered online which I do mostly if I can since there seems to be less chance for errors. I ordered the Spinach pie appetizer ($ 8.25) and two Greek platters, asking for some extra white sauce. I paid by CC and got an order confirmation. After an hour I called and asked about the order and was told not so nicely that it would get there, they’re busy. After 90 minutes I called and this time was spoken to by a nice apologetic woman who said it was on the way and thanked me for my patience (but really what choice does anyone have, lol) So when it finally arrived almost 2 hours after ordering I noticed the charge slip was $ 10.00 higher than I paid when I ordered.
Instead of the spinach pie appetizer, I was charged $ 14.95 for the platter and instead of a little extra white sauce they sent me two containers and charged an extra $ 4.00. I really found that very sneaky and low to overcharge me because they had my cc for payment.
Well needless to say that is the last time we’re ever ordering or patronizing Mike’s Olympic Grill and quite honestly we have found the Dakota Diner to be much more enjoyable and we still have only good things to say about Mike’s Unicorn.
Very disappointed.

This is a friendly neighborhood diner. Food is ok, but not mind blowing. Prices are reasonable enough. My favorite here is the french onion soup, i just cant get enough of it everytime i’m here. Staff are friendly and accomodating. That is another plus. Since i, myself work in the same business, i would say that i definitely love this place. :)

Today my parents, sister, and I wanted to go to a diner for brunch, so we went to Mike’s Olympic Grill. We’ve been to other Mike’s locations and have sucess.
Mind you, never park a car close to the place. The parking lot on the side enterance is small.
The atmosphere was a nice dinner vibe you should get out of Mike’s. Service was great and very attentive.
My parents ordered eggs. My dad ordered an Western Olmlete, my mom ordered sunny side up eggs w/​turkey bacon, and my sister ordered scrambled eggs with french fries. Their eggs came out exactly as they requsted them made.
I ordered a chicken wrap w/​a whole wheat wrap substitution and the American cheese being substituted for raw onions (for a price). The wrap came loaded with alot of chicken and vegetables. Chicken wrap was awesome. Everything was done as I requested.
The inexpensive check made the cherry on top on this great ice cream sundae of an experience.

We came here with a friend around 3 am, it was the only place open for a late munch. We were sit by our waitress, gave us a menu and left. My friend order the New York steak medium rare with a steamed potato and steam spinach, I order a mushrooms hamburger with fries. Let me first say her steak was ok, so were her potato and spinach. My hamburger was ok (I could do better than that).As we were eating, she found a piece of hair in the potato (we let it be).Ask our waitress for the check and left. Now this place has a nice décor so you would expect a little bit more, the service is good, the food depending on what your ordering (but you cant expect more from a diner).I might give it another chance again.
