I have ordered from this place a few times and for the most part the food is good. I love the salad for its sour dressing, and the cigar rolls are delicious. The lamb, chicken with rice are good and so is the lentil soup. However, the last time I ordered they forgot my lentil soup yet I never complained or said anything about it but today I am annoyed with the fact that they canceled my order. It takes time to pick what you want to eat, where you would like to eat as well as the whole online ordering process and it is quite annoying when a (800) number calls me, so it was not even the owner or employees of Sahara, to say «I am sorry but we cannot place your order due to an EMERGENCY». After waiting ³⁰⁄₄₀ minutes and both my boyfriend and I are super hungry we get that bullshit call from who knows who.
What was the emergency? They wanted to close early? Why the 1−(866) number and not the business phone number?
Business should not be conducted that way, and for that I will never order from this place again especially with all the other places around.
Good food though, Bad business ethics.

Great food, wonderful, welcoming staff. They took very good care of us, with tons of friendly conversation. Got the lamb adana and chicken gyro, very good and fresh. And the fresh Turkish bread was amazing! They bake it on location, and you can tell. So warm, crunchy, and fluffy inside.
Will definitely be there again next time I’m on Staten island. Thanks again! Go to Sahara Xpress!

Absolutely terrible all around. I highly recommend to stay away from this place for any and all purposes.
Went for lunch, sorely disappointed by the food and service. Firstly, I presented a restaurant-​com certificate for $ 10 off $ 20+ and was told they don’t accept any coupons («because their prices are already too good»), I said not a problem and decided to try this place in either case. What a mistake.
We sat for service and were served in to-​go containers. We ordered the «large» dinner portions, a mixed kebab grill with 4 small pieces of chicken and 4 small pieces of lamb over rice and it looked smaller than a half-​priced lunch portion I would get at a different Mediterranean place. The quality of the meat was terrible and felt like it was sitting a few days before serving. They also came out with two bottles of water which we didn’t order and the waiter said the owner sent water to us– we assumed this was «on the house» but were charged $ 3 extra for the water.
In the end, lunch with two small dishes and water (that we didn’t order) came out to $ 32 without tip. «prices too good to accept certificates»? really? I think not. The certificates can still be purchased as of this review. I’ll never go here again.

Me and my husband were hungry so decided to try something new so I called them after finding them on this abb. The man whom answered the phone was polite and very helpful but the food didn’t meet my taste. The chicken kabab was wonderful also the salad but the rice needed a little salt and the humus wasn’t good. So over all they are good and best of all halal. But dam it! Why are you expensive ???
40 dollars for chicken kabab rice and humus, for two? Why?!

A great outdoor seating area. The food is good, friendly staff who always come over to check on you. Seems like a local family business so definitely support them. Sitting back eating gyros and sipping on lazizas can’t ever go wrong! :)

The food was delicious and fresh. This is a family operated business and the owners are friendly and inviting. The hummus, tabouli, and Turkish bread were delicious. The tabouli was made to order. The various entrees were excellent. For dessert, baclava and Turkish tea with mint. The dining experience was great.

I love this place, very friendly family orientated. Their service is good the male owner really takes pride in what he does an what he serves people, well not people bc he says once they come in his store their more like his family. That was sweet to hear :) their food is so good not greasy it’s very clean eating, healthy fresh veggies their meat is fresh, he even was so proud to walk me towards the kitchen to show me how much pride he takes in cleanliness an good food made with love. It’s as good as your house kitchen clean, I’ve never seen anything or anyone who owns a restaurant like this. I come here often with my family, sometimes I even order for delivery. Anywho yes I recommend this place it’s the best halal in Staten Island an majority of Bayridge. Deeeeelisious

Absolutely amazing! The spot is small and cozy as well as warm and welcoming. My family had the grilled chicken, laffa sandwich, and mixed chicken Adana dish. The bread from the laffa sandwich was saturated with flavor as were all the other dishes. Meats were cooked to savory perfection!!! We finished off with a delicious mint tea with baklava and brown top pudding. This place is a must-​try! Not only is the food excellent, but the owners are extremely warm and friendly as well! Great food and excellent service. I will definitely be going back soon :)

Nice hidden gem run by family who turn out pretty good food and change up food all the time. food is made to order which I don’t know why it’s called Xpress but regardless good and fresh. breads are baked daily on premise, also have the Turkish coffee.

This place was just really good, its a shame that its not really seen on Hylan Blvd, it’s hidden like under this scaffold type I can’t really explain it so you have to really look for it. Its next to a Polish grocery store and theres no parking on that avenue so you might have to park around the block.
The owner Moe is a really nice guy, very welcoming and proud of what he makes for you. The homemade bread is the BEST! You must go with it all the way and he sure will tell you how great it is too. Its so soft, puffy and just delicious. I had me the chicken gyro which was nicely cooked and I love the amount of Tziki sauce it was coated it, I love that sauce!!! As he would say you have to start it off eating with a fork and then dig in hands on !
Its a little small place but you can eat there if your a small group.
He offers also other great foods he cooks himself and I will come back to try more and he was just a really nice guy and just wants others to enjoy the greatness of his homemade food. So I am all for it.

Small little hidden gem. Guy in there is so nice. Tried different platters and soup. Never disappointed love this place

The service from the chef was great. very friendly & advising towards what to get. I did get what i wanted & he suggested get it on a gyro which I did also. The platter I wanted wasn’t the greatest, it was a-​okay. a little towards the dry side. But I did finish it. His suggestion was to get a gyro sandwich in a pita which I really enjoyed and craved for more after! I should have taken his advice! The chef was right I will be coming back for more! Hope to be in the area in a few days. The place is clean & cozy but no clutter at all! Stop by & try his lamb or chicken gyro in the European bread like he suggest! Happy eating Unilocalers!

The service was really good. The owner and his wife gladly accommodated some extra requests (eg chicken iskender instead of lamb).
The food was pretty good, not the best Turkish I’ve ever had, but not bad for a quick casual bite. Service is what gave it five stars though

This place is just so delicious. Been searching for a place like this on the island that delivers since I moved here last year. Everything is always fresh and tastes delicious. Definitely recommend giving it a try.

The owner of this place is very friendly and welcoming! I ended up getting chicken over rice platter and it was actually really delicious! I tried 53^rd & 6^th halal and a few highly rated halal and this place definitely is delicious and although a little pricey (9.99) the platter had so much food i couldnt finish it. Def try this place out for great food and even greater service!

So I decided to stick it out with Sahara xpress… and from what I heard they really over the last 6 months have stepped up their game. I ordered from them last night and a couple of times over the summer and I do have to say they really have gotten a hell of a lot better. Their Turkish bread is home made and absolutely DELISH! Their hummus is so fresh and DELISH and serving sizes have really improved. I had their garden salad with feta and I LOVED it. Chicken was not dry, food was very fresh. The owner and his wife are very very nice people as well.

We came here for a quick bite and the owner is such a sweet and humble man who really wanted to create a special meal for us.
We had a falafel and a gyro and the fresh bread that they make was wonderful as was the sauces and fresh salads.
What ever negative reviews this place has received in the past, I think they are really making an effort to step it up.
It was yummy and we’d definitely come back.
