El Fogon Mexican Restaurant

I ate here once for a special dinner with my Nana, on her birthday. This place has a great little atmosphere, delicious food and good customer service. Its a nice little place that’s not to big or small, with a strong menu that made my mouth water. I had a burrito I think, but my Nana who’s from mexico doesn’t really like Mexican restaurants because they don’t really reach her standards, was impressed by El Fogon. Thank you for making my Nana’s birthday a great one, along with the delicious food you served.

This is really heartbreaking as it was one of the few places that not only did a brown mole, but did it very well. I couldn’t help but get a side of it and put it on their great tacos, or stellar burritos. Their chile verde salsa was a close second though. You could taste every chile, every drop of lime, it was great. Theyre are tentpoles in a mexican restaurant when you are surrounded by so many. Is the food too salty? Are the beans runny? So they make their own flour tortillas? Are their carnitas dry or stringy? El Fogon passed all of these and I wish more people got to experience their great food. Sure their dining room was tiny, but id take an cozy table and amazing food to taco bell in a 5 star lounge any day.

My only experience with El Fogon… noticed that this restaurant served Albondigas Soup EVERY day supposedly. But, when I went in about four months ago… «Siento. No hoy».

Stopped in this place for a «last minute» dinner for the family… and WOW! This place is a-​m-​a-​z-​i-​n-​g!!!
They are very nice, and clean. The food is terrific, and I have never had a «bad» experience there.
Been doing «take out» from there for the past 5 years, and it is my sons favorite place to eat.
They also make terrific tamales… they only cost $ 1 each !!

An über hole in the wall, but a good one nonetheless! I’ve been driving past this joint for years but have never stopped. Well, tonight it was my destination after reading about the vegetarian pinto beans and the pumpkin seeds atop the dinner salad.
It was my birthday but we’d already done a big celebratory dinner in Laguna Beach with the kids. Plus I didn’t want to eat a heavy dinner.
The salad with the pumpkin seeds atop a cilantro dressed bed of greens, comp with a dinner or lunch plate-​kudos. Beans don’t have to be loaded down with Manteca (lard) to be tasty. I got a seperate bowl aside my chicken quesadilla.
I asked the waitress after I ate if next time I could get just white meat chicken. Not only did she say, «Si»! She said I could get the chicken breast meat in the quesa grilled. That is the way I’ll order it next time for sure!
It’s not the Taj Mahal, nothing fancy about El Fogon just plain ol’ good eats.

Yummy veggie burritos, enchiladas and chili relleno. The rice isn’t vegetarian, but you can request beans that are, and they are really good.
Nothing too fancy, but the service is really friendly, and the kids’ plates come with free ice cream :)

Food is good, but is no a place I would come back. This is not a big deal. Tostada Ceviche is good because they actually use real Tiger Prawn shrimp.

Quesadillas!!! Wow, if you have never ordered the «Vegetarian Quesadilla» at EL FOGON RESTAURANT at 9210 Thornton Rd, Ste 4, Stockton, CA 95 209… you have not had a Quesadilla PROPER.
WOW!!! I had one 2 nights ago and YUM!!! I had to go back yesterday for lunch and order the same thing. I get it with a side of Sour Cream and Guacamole (which actually comes with it)…I have them leave off the extra lettuce and Pico de Gallo, because this is the way I like.
Just the Vegetarian Quesadilla with Sour Cream and Guacamole and YOU ARE IN HEAVEN.
I’m not even a Vegetarian… how about that? TRY IT, YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED.
4÷28÷09 — I tried the special today «Steak Taxqueno». Wow, that’s great!!! if you like steak, Try it, you’ll like it. :o)

Tried this place on Friday and I must say «What a surprise!» For tasty mexican fare you have to try this place at least once.
I had the Chile Rellano and my GF, the chicken enchilada and we found them prepared just right, tasty and with great rice, beans and tortillas. I can’t wait to try the seafood!

Tucked away in a micro-​mall on Thornton Road, El Fogon is a small family restaurant that never fails to satisfy. Salsa and chips are very good but you always need to ask for extra salsa. Dinners begin with a small salad garnished with pumpkin seeds (ask for the dressing on the side unless you really like dressing). I tend to stick with the antojitos (tacos, enchiladas, etc) and all are flavorful and fresh. Whole beans are available if you are not a fan of refritos. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Check them out.
