Food is fine for what you pay. Standard American buffet food: fried chicken, mashed potatoes, meatloaf, salad bar, etc…
What really makes this place almost unbearable is the poor front counter and management service. Specifically, Korina, who works the register, is disengaged, rude, is short with customers, and doesn’t know how to greet or smile at customers.
Don’t eat here.

The breakfast was 7.99 and 2.49 for the drink. It was pretty expensive. I am glad I had coupons. The pancakes were under the heat lamp for so long they were hardened and there was no real syrup. There was warmed sweet water they pointed to called syrup. The eggs and all were average but for the price I wanted some bacon and maybe toast. There was no silverware at one point and I think this was a rip off. I could have just made or got something of good quality cooked well instead.

To be completely honest, I did not pay to eat. I just sat down and watched my friends gobble down this complete and utter garbage (some of which I had the complete displeasure of placing on the surface of my tongue). Some people may say that beggars cannot be chooser. However, the food here makes me abhor in disgust. Seriously, this place is fucking ass. The food is unbelievably awful, and don’t get me started on the service. It’s like all the staff knows is «fine dining and breathing.» Well let me tell you, my friends didn’t pay $ 16 to eat shitty food and possibly get food poisoning. Thank god that I was too broke to pay for a fucking rip off. The pizzas taste like they were microwaved several hours ago, and the meats are likely to give you the worst case of food poisoning known to be human race.
If this review has yet to convince you, allow me to use the episode «Just One Bite» of the television show, «SpongeBob SquarePants» as a direct reference.
When Squidward first takes a bite of a Krabby Patty, his reaction is this:

I came to enjoy lunch here with my family and as soon as I sat down the service was disrespectful and very very unprofessional. Connie the server came and signed our ticket but my grandmother forgot to pay for two drinks. Connie came over very rude and said she will let it pass this one time. I offered to pay but because I believe I was African American she thought we were trying to steal some soda. Seriously?! After she signed the new ticket she slammed her pen down on the table. We asked why did she do that and she stated it was a form of expression and we stated that was rude and unprofessional and she came back and did it again hitting my hand. I didn’t want to be in the stereotype category she put me in so I didn’t want to cause a scene. This is Stockton California and understand we have ghetto Ass ppl in this city but I never expected to be assaulted with a pen for a soda. Once I mentioned Mike Jones my very good friend she said he is no longer here and it doesn’t matter if he was. I will never eat here again due to the assault on my hand with Connie’s expression with a pen.

I brought my wife for breakfasts on mothers days and was really disappointed. They raise the prices just because it’s a holiday that’s totally wrong. I was also disappointed in the selection of food they have. There very limited and all the food has to much SALT and it’s under cooked. Won’t go to this place again.

I came here for lunch once. Never again! Only thing that I went back for was the chicken tenders. Everything seemed like it was either frozen or out of a can. Horrible quality, honestly. I thought that maybe the desserts might make up for the awful lunch, since they did look quite delectable. Oh boy was I wrong. Every desert option tasted like it was store-​bought, absolutely no love or effort was put into them. Blah. Sorry home town, but I don’t think I can come back.

Where do I begin. I went to this location last Saturday. I remember how horrible this place was about 4 or 5 years ago so me and my family decided to give it another try after so many years. The food was alright, it’s the only reason I’m giving 2 stars. Now the Ice cream machine wasnt working properly and it only had chocolate ice cream. The soda from the soda fountain tasted like pure sugar. I saw multiple people pour there drinks away. I’m hoping someone complained to the manager about it or at least I hope they read it here. The workers also seem to just stare at people like you’re going to steal something. Gets really annoying when you’re trying to enjoy your meal. I guess me and my family will have to travel to Tracy and go to Golden Corral instead until they fix this buffet.

Cons:
Raised prices.
Floors were dirty and sticky.
Short staffed, requiring us to stack all our plates and place it on another table since no one came by to take away the plates.
Everything tasted too salty or too sweet. This must be their strategy to get people to eat less and drink more or have headaches eating the sugary desserts.
The cups and plates seemed smaller than in the past, requiring extra trips.
Icee machine out of order.
Vanilla soft serve out of order, only the chocolate side was working.
They no longer seat you. Seat yourself during prime dinner hours.
Pros:
Restocked the food frequently. (mostly fillers).
Birthday BoGo offer.
Senior discount.
Ample parking spaces.

Food was cold was pist cause we got there at 11 and they open at 1030 don’t eat here!

Good day gone bad. Food just OK. Advised server 3x it was my aunt’s birthday, then on 4^th expressed disappointment before they came to sing and bring a piece of cake w/​candle. It’s the little things that make a difference.

1 star for being open on a holiday (Thanksgiving)
0 stars for the quality of food. Some of the food was cold and either bland or salty. What you pay is definitely not worth what you get. I felt like a lot of the food came from cans or was just poorly made… Will not ever come back here again!

Moved to stockton from modesto, and the food is disgusting no diversity in the food horrible customer service and super dirty !!! Eat at ur own risk !!!

This was an incredibly disappointing experience. We had decided to celebrate the finish of swim season and the kids chose HTB, which we have always enjoyed wherever we’ve happened to be. This time when I called to find out prices and check on a military discount, the girl who answered the phone could tell me nothing more than there was one and the bigger your order, the bigger the discount.: /​. When we arrived we thought maybe we had just followed a rush. Nope. The restaurant was filthy, the food was either unidentifiable or empty. Tables weren’t cleared, serving utensils were absent and mentioning things to serving people didn’t seem to help. I got the impression that change didn’t matter because people still kept coming through the door. We won’t be back.

To everyone that sees this post stay away from home town buffet in Pacific Avenue my dad after his appointment… wanted to come here since it down the street from his doctors office so I said okay why not

Manager had the nerve to say to nothing to worry about. said it was a grain of sugar in the tea. I told him that it was unsweet tea there is no sugar in it thats why its called unsweetened
He got pissy.. He asked me «what do you want me to do about it » .I said refund what you think

What buffet charges for steak now. what a crap hole. waited forever for plates and
has gone soooo downhill. manager was rude to my child when she asked how long on the steak that we had to pay extra for. bathrooms had toilet tissue everywhere. Just plain disgusting.

Went in the other day with my boyfriend for lunch. The manager was at the register and applied a coupon I had online to both of our orders! He was very friendly and welcoming.
I guess we choose great times to go because we haven’t run into long lines or no food on the buffet.
I love the fresh salad, and the fruit bar looked delicious! The employees keep the buffet well stocked and clean. I had a yummy buffalo chicken slider. And I love the baked potatoes. They had my favorite dessert pudding which was warm and in all its delicious chocolate glory.
Our busser kept our table clean! She was friendly and attentive. I don’t understand why customers ask for drinks. The drink bar is smack in the middle. It’s a buffet, get up and get your own drink. It won’t kill you and your plate will still be there when you get back.
The manager was making his rounds and checking on his new customers and regulars, greeting those he knew by name. He was so pleasant and our experience overall was very enjoyable.

On 11/​12/​2014, my family and decided on having an early dinner at the good ol’ Hometown Buffet. My son really loves this place because of the all-​you-​can-​eat Icee machine and chocolate milk. I on the other hand should have intervened. The smell at this establishment makes me think I am eating next to a dumpster. The door that heads to the back near the video games has a garbage/​dumpster smell to it. GROSS!
As I was cruising the buffet, I overheard an older lady complaining about how dry the fish was to the General Manager. All he told her was, «Thank you.» The look on his face was like, «No one told you to eat here.» I couldn’t believe that type of attitude from a manager. Especially from a manager who has his picture at the front of his restaurant.
We went in at approximately, 3:00PM. There was very little selection. The Roast Beef and turkey did not come out till 4:30. For the type of selection that was offered we should not have been charged 12.99 per adult plus drinks. Especially if not all the dinner items were available to us.
We definitely will not be going back to Hometown Buffet. The atmosphere of the management, the food and smells left a bad taste in my mouth.

So today for our lunch we decided on Hometown buffet. Two of my co-​workers and myself.
As soon as we arrived my eyes got really big. Very very long lines. We’re on a time limit, so whenever we go, it has to be fast.
But one cashier was doing her best trying to get everyone in as quickly as possible. I feel on a busy day like today, Hometown buffet needs more than one register open.
So we paid for three meals and drinks and made a mad dash to find a table. Since it was super packed. We got a table and and made several runs for food and drinks.
The food is alright for a buffet, but what stood out to me was the chicken pot pie. It was very good and reminded me of the ones you get from KFC, but smaller. The salad are like any salad, you get at any buffet or Pizza Joint.
The corn chowder wasn’t bad and the rice crispy treat did taste yummy.
The drink stations are crazy packed and they do carry Coke products. They have coffee and tea as well.
Us trying to find forks was a mission in itself. A lot of people were taking more than one fork. So they were like gold for a while.
We were very lucky to have Virginia as our bus girl. She kept our tables clean and picked up our plates with the quickness. She’s very nice too.
Orher then the long lines and people taking hella forks. We had a very fun time here today. I’ll be coming back.

I don’t really expect too much out of buffets. This buffet was pretty basic… nothing extra like a carving station or wok station — just your standard kiosks of food.
I know they can’t control the people that come to the buffets but the yogurt station was covered in yogurt and it was all over the floor. The toppings were also all over the place.
The lady who was working our table was friendly and picked up our dishes frequently so that was a plus.
All in all, nothing out of the ordinary. If you aren’t a buffet person, I would say to skip it.
