Bad food, not so good service. There were not enough staff for the amount of people in the restaurant, which I am not going to sing the servers for. But the servers that were there appeared to be annoyed while helping everyone. The food was all dry, over cooked and cold. The one saving grace was the tap room next door.

Went here for lunch today, since it seems to be one of the few places downtown open on Sundays plus it’s been on my «Try» list for awhile. Ordering was a bit… chaotic? There wasn’t really a formed line, just people sort of doddling around by the counter and after about 5 – 7 minutes of waiting a worker asked if everyone had been helped. The wait time wasn’t their fault so I’m not holding it against them, you could tell that it was genuinely busy and that they were working as fast as they could. Anyhoo, I stepped up to the counter and started to order a salad… but was told I had to go to the other counter. That was sort of confusing, because what if I wanted salad and a sandwich? I think the worker was new, too, because he took quite awhile reading what goes into the salad. Again, nothing against him because you need to start somewhere, just tough when you’re in a hurry for a lunch to go. So we finally worked our way over the cash register and that process was quick and easy, and the girl working was very nice. Overall, I would like to try this place again and eat it at the restaurant versus taking it to go, especially now since I know how the ordering process works. My crispy buffalo chicken salad was good(although I do wish the chicken was diced and mixed into the salad instead of just in strips at the top) and there were a few other items on the menu that I’d like to try! But, for now, it gets just a «just okay» 3-star review until next time.

Went in a little late, so they were only serving fried food. Tried the sweet potato fries, fried calamari, and chicken strips & fries. Typical fried food, not too greasy, and good flavor.

Call me picky, but I prefer after you’ve handled that mop, that you remove your gloves and wash your hands before fixing my food. And the salad bar wasn’t very fresh today. Mushrooms were old and cucumber bitter. Normally, a very good place to eat.

Amazing sandwiches and salads… Their buffalo blue cheese fries are amazing too! The owners are always there helping their staff and making sure everyone has a great service… Blue cheese steak sandwich is very good… They cook a whole fresh turkey everyday and when you order a turkey sandwich you watch them cut in fresh I front of you and you have your choice of white or dark meat. Highly recommend this place!

Whirlow’s is a nice addition to Miracle Mile in that it adds a bit of diversity menu-wise, and in terms of live entertainment. And, according to their title, they grill and toss; so that’s a nice double threat we thought. We have dined here a few times now, both going in and sampling their take out game. Between the two of us, we tried to survey their different menu items and we find that it is solid American food delivered with a positive attitude. The food experience was not unlike eating out at your friend’s Mom’s house; solid entrees(like a huge turkey leg) and hearty sides(beans, mac & cheese, fries, etc.). The following categorical scores are all out of 5; when combining and rounding them(weighing taste more heavily), they explain our overall Unilocal rating. TASTE: 4 After a few trips, we’ve gotten turkey, chicken, the bacon and blue burger, a few salads, fries, mac & cheese, bbq beans, and have added a couple pounds in the process. The burgers were average but worth the price, while the bbq beans, mac & cheese, and sides in general were not overly generous but well-seasoned and consistent. The wife says the salads were a nice combo of fresh and good. In our opinion, the understated star is the turkey leg. It is large and not dry(by turkey standards). Do you know how turkey/chicken legs look in cartoons? It feels like you’re a cartoon caveman eating the spoils of a manly hunt. Overall, Whirlow’s is better than average, less than excellent, but really consistent. SERVICE: 4 Their servers smile when they take and serve orders; they fixed one microscopic error in a second. When we phoned in an order, it was ready and hot in 15 minutes. Enough said. AMBIANCE/EXPERIENCE: 4 It looks clean and simple and has a small area for live performances. Live performance is rare in Stockton, so we considered this a strong plus. VALUE: 3 This rating reflects the fact that the sides aren’t overly generous and, overall, you don’t get a lot of food considering it is simple downhome type food. We regret using the term downhome, but it’s in there now and we’ll have to live with it. TOTALSCORE: 3.8 RECOMMENDATION Pickup Whirlow’s for a football Sunday or go there for dinner for some weekend live entertainment. We hope this helps.

Messed up my order tonight. Instead of them just offering to fix it, the supposed manager-who would not let me talk to the owner-hung up on me. She had been increasingly rude upon the start of the phone call because she did not want me talking to the owner. I just can’t believe she hung up while I was explaining the error. Crummy place should hire better people.

Whirlows sandwiches are absolutely amazing. I thoroughly enjoy their salads as well, but for me it’s all about the sandwiches. This is one of my favorite places I eat here at least once a week. Did I mention they also have live music. Awesome!

Went there last Thursday with my kid and a friend from out of town. My kid always gets the ribs and mashed potatoes, she loves them. I get the whole salad. I like the way everything is fresh and the lettuce is crunchy and they toss it for you so I don’t have to make a mess at the table trying to blend it. And I got the sweet potato fries. Our friend got one of the sandwiches, which she wolfed down before I knew it AND she loved my fries.lol. I always enjoy the music and the atmosphere. Everyone is so cool, and chill. I just got us there too early because the music started at 6:30 and I thought it was 6:00. No problem though. Also the service was a little lacking in that they forgot all about my daughters ribs until we asked the bus boy later, then he went and let them know. A minus in my book. But everyone was pleasant and kind. I did look for parking in the street close by the front entrance, in light of the robbery of the guy in the parking lot the week before so we have to be vigilant. It’s not the neighborhood, the neighborhood is fine. Its other factors that I won’t get into here. The service was the only thing otherwise I would have given them a 5 star this visit.

If you’re having a huge craving for a fresh turkey sandwich, then this is the spot for you. They bake their turkey daily and carve it right in front of you as you order. So fresh and juicy and tempts us every time we order. The bf and I have been here before and he loved the grilled salmon sandwich. The bite I had of it was seriously delicious. It was grilled perfectly and is one of our faves. On this visit to Whirlow’s, I got the grilled portobello and the bf got the hot gravy and turkey sandwich. I LOVED my portobello sandwich. This was my first time trying a portobello mushroom sandwich and let me just tell you, it was amazing. The sandwich consisted of a pesto aioli that was to die for and added that extra bit of creaminess with basil that rounded off the sandwich perfectly. The bf did enjoy his sandwich as well, but there was A LOT of gravy. We were just missing a side of mashed potatoes to plop the extra gravy on. It was a yummy dish, but if you were to order it, ask to have the gravy on the side so that you’ll be able to control the amount of slather you place on your sandwich. The staff is amazing. Very nice and accommodating and wiling to wait while you take your pick. The restaurant is also large and they have live music with a stage in the corner where local performers come during the weeknights. Perfect for date nights and GNOs. Aside from being a bit on the pricier side for a sandwich, this place is pretty awesome.

I am disappointed that a sandwich and salad place has no vegan options besides a basic salad! It’s impossible for my family to eat here. It would be great if you added more vegan friendly options with no meat or cheese. We would definitely come and bring friends if you did.

D-li-cious! My family and I are in town visiting and found Whirlow’s on Unilocal. So glad we came here. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. I ordered the California tri-tip sandwich, my daughter ordered the BBQ tri-tip sandwich and then we shared halves. The tri-tip was so tender and delicious. The bread was not dry or hard. Overall the experience was great! Would definitely come back the next time we’re in town.

The food here is wonderful. We love to come to listen to the music. Normally it’s perfect. Good listening tunes. We even get up and dance! Loads of fun for two or for a group. The tri tip sandwich is to die for as well as the many salads that they’re more than happy to customize for you. They even have Mac & cheese as a side option. Tonight the only issue is the music volume is much too loud for the venue. The band is Greenhouse. They’re not bad but way too loud for this intimate venue. Bottom line… we shall return again!

I was served UNDERCOOKEDCHICKEN! I stopped in to order a salad earlier this week. As I was waiting for my salad to be made, I noticed the guy using a smaller bowl to measure out the greens. I figured it was because it was the first time I had every seen anymore actually measure out the greens. When my order was ready and I noticed my full size salad was substantially smaller than usual. As one of the employees was walking back up to her station, I asked if the salad was in fact a full and not a half size. Before she could even response, another employee stated that the salads appeared smaller due to the new containers(which are bigger than the ones previously used). Though that may certain be true, I was a bit skeptical that was entirely the reason. As I started eating my salad, I noticed the chicken strips weren’t as golden brown as they usually are. I cut into them and realized the center was still cook and pinkish. Up until now, I’d figure I’ll let it go. I decided to call the business and let them about the chicken. I called the next day and asked to speak with the manager. There was a 3 – 4 second pause before he told me he was the manager. I was taken aback at first because he sounded no more than 16 – 17 years old. I told him about the salad size and the chicken. His response to the undercooked chicken left me even more concerned about the food quality. All he said was that«it’s on a timer and should be cooked». This place used to be at the top of my list since it’s so close to school. I doubt I will be coming back.

Great sandwhich/salad spot on the mile. Workers are always friendly and working swiftly to meet customers’ needs. California steak sandwich is a must! My other go-to is the southwestern chicken salad. My work has ordered lunch from here before and it was a pleasant experience from start to finish. They are very accommodating and polite. Whirlow’s also has a great live music scene, jazz, open mic nights, call to get more info on these details. The only thing is that it is a tad pricey in my opinion but that never stops me from coming to dine here, whether in the restaurant or to go.

Was quite impressed with this place. The same kind of set up as Jack’s in Sacramento(salads, sandwiches, sides). Food was delicious, service was great. My fav dish was by far the Blue Onions(onion rings with blue cheese) which we had them toss in their buffalo sauce. AMAZING! Will definitely be back here.

This place is a cute family restaurant that’s perfect with your family also with some coworkers. The restaurant itself is pretty large, and it’s very homey. I ordered the Ryan’s Pulled Pork sandwich with sweet potato fries, while my two friends ordered the Californian Sandwich(not sure if that’s the name) with garlic fries and mac and cheese. Food was pretty good, especially the garlic fries. I really wanted to like the mac and cheese, but it was a little too creamy for my taste. If there was a Sriracha bottle in the condiment area I would have destroyed that mac and cheese! I liked that they made my food in front of me, but other than that the food wasn’t that amazing. I rounded up to a four because the customer service was great!

Sissy and I came here today because she was craving their tamale casserole. I’ve never been here before, but I wasn’t pulled in by hearing she wanted tamale casserole because I personally don’t like tamales. I’m just not a corn person. But she insisted that I try their tamale casserole sample, in which they loaded up a tiny cup full of it and it really was good. The tamales that I’ve tried in the past were some from Podestos or Maria’s Taqueria and they were all pork. I don’t know… I just don’t like them but Whirlow’s casserole was really, really good. Their choice of meat for their tamales is turkey, which I think was a great spin on it. While she got her bowl full of the casserole, I got a buffalo chicken sandwich. It was very fun watching the worker make my sandwich because he got a ciabatta bread and threw it onto the grill. While the bread was heating up, he pulled out a big ‘ol piece of chicken breast, which he started cutting up. It looked extremely yummy and juicy! He packed on the blue cheese and buffalo sauce and man, was I excited. I haven’t even touched it yet. Once we were seated, we devoured our food ASAP. My sandwich was so amazing. The chicken breast was covered in buffalo sauce, and the blue cheese made it taste so amazing. It didn’t taste overwhelming with different types of flavors at all, everything just flowed so well. My sister doesn’t even like buffalo chicken, but I gave her some of my sandwich and she actually loved it because it really did flow with tastes. While we were sitting at our table, there was a band setting up and we got to listen to a sample of music. We didn’t get to stay and watch the live performances, which kind of sucked for us because it would’ve been nice. But it definitely seems like they get crowded pretty quick on their live performances nights. Do try their foods because their menu really looked promising and yummy, and top it off with a beer! Also, try coming right when the band’s about to start. I’m sure you’d have a blast :)

The live music on a Saturday night made for a fun evening with great ambiance… Ordered the prime rib dinner($ 14.95) Comes with your choice of two sides. Presentation was great… meat looked good but had a weird smokey taste. Didn’t care for it. I had a salad and soup for sides. Sides were good. Service is cafeteria style. You order at the counter, pay, get your utensils and seat yourself. The server brought my dinner to me. I think normally they call your name and you pick up your order at the counter… or why else did they ask for my name? Some of their food is good… but I wouldn’t order prime rib here again. Yummy yogurt shop next door…
