I have been coming to Wings for many years. They have INCREDIBLE and I mean incredible Indian food. I don’t live in the area anymore but when I come back to visit I have to stop by and get their amazing lunch buffet or the matar paneer. So amazing!

This restaurant is located in a plaza, where you have ample parking space and also close by to the university. So this place is pocket friendly and serves American and Indian food. The décor n seating is just okay! At first we used to pick up veggie biryani on our way to drive — in theatre which is close by this restaurant. After couple of visits, tried their breads and curries. Their one portions are really good to feed two. They have a variety of appetizers, curries, breads and rice… They serve chicken, goat, lamb and also vegetarian friendly. Last night we dropped in to dine with a couple of friends. Seating is a little cramped with a group. We ordered curly fries, chicken wings, navratna korma, saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, garlic naans and a veggie biryani — all for the table, 6 adults and 4 kids. Everyone had good food… Everything was really good except for the naan… The naans are frozen and they were just heated up… I personally don’t like restaurants serving frozen stuffs. Also not sure about other dishes! But they tasted good!

A really odd name for a restaurant serving Indian food and what’s even odder is they have wings to go with it… indian curry flavor wings I suppose but I didn’t find it on the menu. What they lack in ambience they make up for in taste. Not really great for dining in but if you still want to… u can choose between 5 or so tables. They are open late which is a good thing and I hear the crowd usually picks up after 10. Beware while ordering the portion sizes are large but then we came with a gluttonous appetite and hogged it all up. before I could even get a decent picture for y’all to see. My recommendations would be paneer saag and chicken tikka masala comes with rice and also pairs well with garlic naan… biryanis are also good(if ur like me and like the hyderabadi style this might be disappointing). Good eats, reasonable price.

Wow. This is the second time I’ve ordered from here and I don’t know why I did. I left a review that time and I will again tonight. Made the order online for their wings, fries, and drink combo. Called after an hour to make sure they were on the way. They asked me for my order and I said wings and they said«yeah, driver is on their way right now.» …an hour later I get a call from the driver saying they’ll be outside in a minute. I come outside, and he doesn’t even bother getting out of his car, just rolls down the passenger side window. I made sure that every part of my order was there, because I made the mistake before, and I noticed that my drink wasn’t there. I let him know and he said, you didn’t order a drink. I said yes, please look at the receipt. He says, «oh yeah. It’s in the bag.» I said«look for yourself.» He rummaged in a bag that contained exactly one styrofoam takeout container and four ketchup packets. The order had been $ 10.50 and I had said that I wanted 7 back out of a $ 20. I said, since you don’t have my drink, i’m asking for $ 9 back. He then let me know that the drink is $ 1, so he’ll just give me back $ 8. I look at him incredulously, and say«this order is an hour late, you forgot part of my order, and you’re giving me attitude. Give me $ 9 back or you won’t be getting even the dollar tip.» he takes out his wad of cash and counts ever so slowly $ 8. After everything, he gives me these $ 8. Now, i’m still leaning on the window, and I count the bills out loud. At this point, it’s one dollar. I’m not wasting any more of my time and energy on this schmuck. i let him know that i will be calling the restaurant, and telling them what horrible service they provided, and that i would let Unilocal know too. Half of what makes a restaurant good is the service. And let me mention the horrible state the wings I ordered were in. soggy fries, half breaded/crumbing chicken, overcooked, and not enough buffalo sauce — just enough to tint the chicken orange. fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, and wow, i couldn’t be a bigger idiot but I’m letting the internet know too.

Wing Express is truly your quintessential«hole in the wall» place with delicious food. Sure, it’s a little odd that they serve wings and Indian food. Speaking for the Indian food only, I’d say this spot has some of the best in the area. The inside feels like a fast food joint. It doesn’t have the best ambiance, but it’s definitely comfortable enough to hang here and chow down. Our wait to get our food was quite long, so be sure to give yourself extra time. Portions are generous. Also, when they say«hot,» it’s definitely going to be spicy, so consider yourself warned!

Ordered wings online. Ordered a bigger size and wanted half the super spicy kind and half the garlic parm since one person can’t eat the spicy stuff. Got all super spicy wings, order butchered. The delivery was really fast which at first pleased me, but then I realized they sent the delivery driver with wings that had been made many hours, maybe even days before, they were heated up for sure. They had the taste inside(the meat) of what you would taste when you microwave old fried chicken or rotisserie a few days after the day it was made, you know with the weird taste and all. The fries were great, but not enough to give them more than a one star review. Wings over seems to make their wings regularly and I regret using foodie points to try wing express. Maybe their Indian food is better as it seems the place is run by Indians, but I’d avoid the wings altogether.

I used to eat at this place all the time during my time at UConn. The food is always delicious and the staff is very friendly. I never tried the wings but the Indian food was always excellent. I would usually get the biryani and the portions are usually enough for two meals. Highly recommended!

I order take out from here often as it is on my way home. Indian food is good but we mostly order the wings. We like the old fashioned wings, no breading just wings and this place does it right. It is straight up, bone in wings with some great sauce choices. The traditional buffalo come in hot, medium and mild but what is unique about that sauce is that it is not the traditional wing sauce. This sauce has more flavor and depth than the traditional vinegar based sauce. We love them at our house. The Jerk sauce is also quite good, better than most places. They also have buffet which I haven’t had in a long time but I always see people eating there. It is definitely one of my take out places to go.

Great Indian good, ok wings. Definitely worth a try and will satisfy any need for Indian food you might have. It always hits the spot. I’ve been getting the chicken vindaloo for years now and have never been disappointed.

We loved the food. The food was very flavor full. The rice was well seasoned and the easy online ordering was a perk. Next time we are by UCONN we will stop again.

The only thing I ordered from this restaurant was the curry chicken. In short, it was the best thing I’ve ever eaten outside of my home that wasn’t fast food. I tried this about 2 months ago with my brother and who enlightened me on this dish. In the city that I live in, many Indian restaurants don’t serve curry chicken like this, which is pretty disappointing. The spice level, great. The wings aren’t that good, so I really recommend trying out their Indian food. Update: I’ve eaten here multiple times now and ordered different dishes. I loved all that I tried :) PS: Call in advance for delivery!

I have had Indian food from a lot of different places in California, New York City and London. This little place whose only customer base is basically UCONN students, is one of the best I’ve ever tasted. I was eating here regularly as a grad student and now I struggle to find similar quality around where I live. Affordable, tasty, and consistent. Just good stuff.

Pros: Good northern Indian food, convenient to UConn. Large portion sizes, not cheap, but good value for the area. Online ordering and delivery with accurate time estimate. All of the veggie dishes I’ve tried have been good, but my fave is the Nav-Rattan Korma. The few meat dishes we’ve tried have been good too, but can’t remember exactly what we got. Basically, I’m very thankful this place exists. Cons: OK wings, Indian food 50% too salty for my tastes(and a leading reason why I don’t eat here more often), disappointing store-bought-esque naan, very college divey dine-in experience. And while the food is good(I’m not Indian but have eaten at plenty of Indian places in the US), it’s nothing to write home about and I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here if I didn’t live in the area.

This place is not kind to the bowels. Need I say more? I guess I do because of the word minimum. Look, the food is delicious. But is it worth the Russian roulette of mild food poisoning? Not in my opinion. And I was not the only one to have this reaction, so the odds seem unreasonably high. Although this reaction seems to be a cliché with Indian food, it is totally unnecessary. I’ve had plenty of Indian food elsewhere that did not«irrigate» my system.

I’ve been ordering from them since I came to UConn, I love the variety of their vegetarian dishes. I have been obsessed with Indian food since I first tried it. Their lunch buffet is not that bad either, mostly vegetarian dishes, naan, chicken curry, wings, and kheer. The only reason why I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it can be really salty.

I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed this place before! The Indian food from Wing Express singlehandedly got me through my four years at UConn, and I have so many delicious memories of feasting on their takeout with my roommates. It’s honestly some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had, and even my Indian roommates thought it was great. The Chicken Tikka Masala, Malai Kofta, and Lamb Rogan Josh are must-orders. Yum! I’m also a fan of the Onion Pakoras and the Samosas. They’re all reasonably priced as far as Indian food goes, and they come in large portions. One order of Chicken Tikka Masala made two meals for me easily. My favorite way to eat their food though was to round up a group of 4 – 5 people and share 2 – 3 of the entrees. Everyone is happy and stuffed for a price that doesn’t break the bank. If Indian food isn’t your thing, they also make wings, and that’s what they choose to market themselves as. I confess, I don’t like their wings and preferred Wings Over if I wanted wings, but if greasy American food is your desire, the Onion Rings are the best-kept secret on the menu. They take regular onion rings and coat them with the same spiced batter they use for their pakoras. The end result is impossibly crisp, light, flavorful onion rings, probably the best I’ve ever had. They also shove a shit-ton of them in the paper bag, and I found that a small was more than enough for one person. One note of caution: It sometimes takes them a really long time to make and deliver the Indian food. I’ve waited over an hour for my food to arrive sometimes. No idea why… I’m assuming it has something to do with Indian food taking longer to prepare than wings. Order way in advance and expect to wait. Some things are worth the wait though. The store itself is kind of a dive, and I don’t recommend dining in. I’ve heard good things about their lunch buffet but never got to try it myself. Someday!

I am disappointed with the service I received. I really wanted to like this place because I heard good word about their Indian food. Well then what went wrong? I think that the customers who dined in had a better experience compared to me. I ordered delivery ONLINE for the Goat Birayani(mixed rice dish with plenty of seasonings with goat meat) I waited for almost 2 hours for my food. About an hour in, I received a call from the delivery guy asking me what my address was when I had already entered my address when making the order online. Mistake #1. Not to mention, I lived on the UConn campus by the way. He did not arrive until another hour later. By the time I got my food, it was already half cold from the condensation inside the box. It was a shame that I paid online along with the tip. I would take that tip back in a heartbeat. As for the Goat Birayani, it came with a small pack of white sauce for pouring on top of the rice. The portion was large considering the price, which was good. The rice itself was alright and as my first time trying goat, I was not a fan. The bone was still attached and the unpleasant over chewiness of the meat was not for me.

I was disappointed with my fish curry. Instead of using fresh fish, they used breaded fish from the freezer. I had to peel off the breading in order to get to the fish. Also, my family and I dined in on a hot, 84-degree afternoon. The ceiling fans in the restaurant were not working due to electrical problems. The restaurant owners did not bother to get portable fans or an A/C. The heat from the food and the room temperature made my last experience here nauseating. Thankfully, my sister graduated from UConn, so I will not be back. One pro: the goat curry was good.

Great Indian food! I’ve been through all of the vegetarian offerings and I find myself returning to Aloo Gobi and the Mixed Vegetable over and over again. If you like spicy, request«suicide hot” — they don’t mess around. Beer is available on site. You can order online through the website, pay online or pay when you pick up. There isn’t a ton of seating, but I’ve never been in there when there wasn’t at least one table available. I have ordered from this place more times than I can count and they have not messed up my order even ONCE.

I don’t even know where to begin. I am of Indian descent, and though I was born in Chicago, I also lived in India from age nine to 17. India is part of my blood and it is a huge part of who I am. I know Indian food and I am sure that most people of Indian descent would agree with me that the vast majority of Indian food in the U.S. is neither authentic or really good. But Wings Express is fucking legit. As soon as I walked in and saw the picture of Guru Gobind Singh, the little kid with a ‘patka’, and I said«Sat Sri Akal» to the doting grandmother, I knew this was a legitimate, Punjabi restaurant … that also sells wings! What a concept? The food was delicious and wholesome and has made me intensely homesick for India … the food is that good. This is real Punjabi food and what is sad is that most people won’t appreciate the food here because in their eyes, it’s not«real Indian.»
