Been here a couple times. Dropped in once with my brother for a beer during the afternoon. It was mostly empty. Bartender was nice, and served us promptly. I liked the ambiance, and made a note to come back, because… well, there’s not much else to do around here. Fast forward a couple months… my wife and I drop in for a drink at the end of a date night. The crowd was winding down, and the place looked disgusting; it had that awful stale-beer-and-puke aroma lingering everywhere, empty bottles and glasses sitting out, etc. Definitely had a much divey-er feel than I remember. Bathroom was completely trashed. The glasses the bartender handed us were gross. They were out of a couple different beers, which was annoying. That seems to be a common complaint about this place, so maybe the management isn’t organized. There aren’t a lot of options in the area, so I might go back if I ever find myself around there and in need of a drink. I would not eat there though.

Where to start. We thought this place had potential but within the first ten minutes I realized we were hugely mistaken. Ambiance — it was fine. The speakers played so much bass that you couldn’t even hear the actual songs. Drinks– I ordered an IPA and was told it was out of stock. Fine. I ordered a cider. They were out of that. Fine. I ordered another cider. And they were out of that too. Fourth time was the charm, I guess. Service — lackluster. It took us about ten minutes to get a server. Another ten for my boyfriend to get his beer(and for me to find out everything I asked for had vanished). I had to ask for our waters 3 times. We got them about 30 minutes into the meal. The server was nice, just not his best night. Food — it physically pains me to think of the food. They call themselves a gastropub and the menu makes the food sound gourmet. In a conversation after dinner I decided that my own personal hell would be where I was forced to eat food from BBT. We ordered the large plate sampler. Everything so obviously came from a frozen box. 1. Coconut shrimp– heavy batter. And tiny. 2. Scotch egg– the sausage was not even fully cooked through 3. Wings– my boyfriend compared them to the worst wings he had ever eaten. Not a compliment. The mango chipotle sauce was good though. 4. Fried okra– some were so salty they were inedible 5. Mozzarella sticks– the only thing I semi enjoyed 6. Chicken tikka– disgraceful to call this chicken tikka, but edible. 7. Lamb rolls– they were okay. Spicy. But not much lamb. Mostly just wrapped in so much prefrozen dough. 8. Fries– only good because they were covered in garlic powder. Couldn’t you use real garlic? 9. Jalapeño poppers– depressing. I don’t think I’ve ever not liked a jalapeño popper. I proved myself wrong. 10. «Nachos” — literally just came out as plain tortilla chips. No toppings. What? 11. Queso– microwaved nonsense. Two stars because I feel bad giving places only one. Go here if you want to ruin your day. The water was my favorite thing.

My best fiend and I like to go out late night to get snacks and a drink. Two times we went the kitchen was closed. On the third time we went we decided to call ahead to check if the kitchen was open. They stated it was still open until 1AM and that it was a late night menu. We got there sat down and ordered some drinks. After we got our drinks, we proceeded to order food. The waiter came back 5 minutes later to tell us that the kitchen was closed early. We stated that we had called ahead of time before arriving. We called at midnight and arrived at 12:20AM. They are not consistent and close things down for their convenience. What frustrated me the most is that we called ahead of time to find out if the kitchen was open. I definitely do not ever recommend going to this place. My buddy and I ended up going to Denny’s a couple of blocks from Big Ben Tavern. I will be looking for a new place to grab a late night snack and drink with my best friend. We found a place that is a lot better to go to that is about 10 min away from Big Ben Tavern, it is called Brick House Tavern + Tap. Good bye to Big Ben Tavern forever.

This restaurant is a JOKEJOKEJOKE. I don’t know how the food is but the service was UNACCEPTABLE. Came in and sat at the table in front of the bar for 20 minutes and no one bothered to come to take order. The bartender saw us but didn’t even offer any service. NEVERCOMETOTHISRESTAURANTAGAIN!!!

Love this place when I’m in town! We go here every time we’re in town. Love the array of choices on the beer.

Been to this bar alot of time and this is the only one near my place. A place where the bar tenders dont really know how to make drinks, gin n tonics and etc. You would have to tell them to add something or the other in the drink after serving. Its more of a sports bar and the ambience is nice. Suggested for beer only.

So came here cause it was close to my hotel and I saw they had multiple televisions. I was in need of a place to watch an out of network NHL playoff game(San Jose Sharks/Nashville Predators). The staff basically dropped everything to help me find the station that would play it! This kind of service is the exactly what you would hope to find somewhere! The food was AMAZING! I got the Bacon Jam burger and was not disappointed ATALL. I would highly recommend this place, great atmosphere, great food, lots of beers!

Third time coming here before midnight, second time kitchen was closed. We actually called ahead to verify if kitchen was open, and the said they were. We get here, they are closed. They shut down whenever they want and have NO consistency. Do not recommend.

Very good food, and good beer. Go here for an overall great experience. I’m normally a Flying Saucer guy, this place doesn’t have that kind of selection, but WAY better food.

I wouldn’t dream of coming here for dinner based solely on their fries(if you can mess that up, I shudder to think what you can do to fish). They were poorly cooked, underdone, and seemed like they came from a bag. For«house fries» I expected hand-cut deliciousness. Maybe I just got the late night cook; who knows? For a place that markets itself on the finest farm to table ingredients though, it was indistinguishable from your big-box bars like BWW. However, I thought it was a nice diversion from the other bars in the area, such as World of Beer or Flying Saucer(didn’t want to deal with crowds and parking). We visited on a Friday night, around 10 or 11pm, and it was reasonably busy with a DJ livening up the atmosphere. Lots of bros playing pool and hanging out. I do like the interior a lot. I think I could count the under-30 females on one hand; I assume they were all inside the loop. So… don’t come here to meet your special someone, guys. I had an alcoholic root beer(gross) and my husband had some of the Texas drafts. We had trouble getting service at first as well as closing our tab, even though our server was friendly enough. For a casual, non fussy night out, it was just fine, but in the future we’ll just head to Town Square.

Wow. Very disappointing. Me and my fiancé went there yesterday to have the unlimited crawfish. I usually go to a different place but my fiancé talked about it so much I decided to give it a try. The waiters were on their phones almost every time I looked up. Our waitress was new but very nice and helpful and I’m glad we had her. The others looked like they really didn’t give a damn. We called the day before to inquire about the crawfish and were told it would start at noon. We live an hour away so we had to make sure. When we got there we were told the crawfish boil started at 1pm. We were starving, saving our appetite for the boil, and a little upset but the lady we spoke to apologized and offered us a table inside and suggested we get an appetizer while we wait. We like appetizers so we didn’t really mind waiting. About 20 minutes later we were it wouldn’t start until 2pm. Okay, not cool. Kind of screwed we really had no choice but to stay and wait. We had the nachos and the fish and chips. That I give 5 stars, prepared perfectly and oh so yummy. Once the boil started, it was fresh and yummy small crawfish so that was a bummer but it wasn’t too bad. We had a table next to us which I assume are their often because I could hear their conversation as if I was at their table. They were so LOUD!!! I know it’s a bar but it was 2pm and they barely had a shot. The women were like hyenas and were making the entire place uncomfortable. Tables around us were giving the stink eye. We really hoped that someone anyone in staff would say something because I could barely talk to the man sitting next to me. We left and I felt like my ears had popped. They ran out of crawfish at around 3:30 and there weren’t that many customers. I think they definitely should’ve planned ahead. People waiting in line were told by an employee that they were out and would be refunded if they hadn’t had any crawfish. Sounds nice but I think it should’ve been more organized. Overall, the bar food was 5 stars, service from our waitress was 3 stars, appearance and cleanliness was 3 stars, communication was 1 star, crawfish 2 stars, I’d average it to a 2. Probably won’t be back for a while unless I’m in the area which won’t be often. I would mind, however, to try this place again just as a bar.

Great place. I never eat in bars but the food(Not the frozen appetizers) is actually better than many restaurants. Best food is Steak Tuesday. Steak is Ruth’s Chris quality and always served with a unique and fresh approach. The Hamburgers are incredible as are the authentic nachos. Best bar in sugar land hands down. btw the staff is always good.

I’m only giving this one star because I have to in order to write a review. I will NEVER go to this place again. I stood at the bar for what seems like forever and this rude waitress made eye contact with me and my husband at lease 5TIMES and not once did she acknowledge us! No one said anything until one of the waitresses on the floor asked a manager if anyone had checked on us. UNBELIEVABLE. I know the owner of this establishment is Indian so I didn’t imagine I’d have an issue being served because I’m a person of color. My husband knows the owner so maybe we need to come back with him to be served. This was such a disappointing first and last visit to Big Ben Tavern.

A good place to meet up with company and if you remember to check in you are complimented with a pretzel with mustard sauce. Hello, welcome to Big Ben Tavern where you’ll get to choose whether you want to sit on the patio and listen to the DJ’s music funnel through the speakers from his laptop and sit inside where you will be able to converse, people watch and enjoy your beverages you will be served. There are happy hour foods that I believe are cut off at 7 pm so get your pretzel and what is offered. Chips and queso were $ 5. There is complimentary wifi here and the speed is mad! It registers around 38mbps on the download scale. Don’t forget to ask for Haya, cheery, prompt and knowledgeable on what beers are offered that night and will not mind giving you suggestions on what to drink and order as well as take your picture for you. Because of her, you can add an extra star if you’re lucky enough to get her. I hear Thursday night is steak night so I’ll give t his a try and report back to you on it’s all brilliance. There are some comfortable U-shaped booths here to sit at or if you wish some open tables. Great neighborhood, you can let most of your guard down around here.

Really cute place, but service super weird. I met a group of friends here on Wednesday before Thanksgiving for a birthday party. They all arrived after the kitchen was already shut down for the evening. So one of the people in my group asked our waitress twice if it was ok if we brought food in. We planned on staying a while to drink and didn’t want to leave. About ¼ the way of everyone tearing up their Whataburger combos, the manager comes out to inform us that no outside food was allowed. Hold up for 2 seconds while I continue to slow dip my chicken strip into my fancy spicy ketchup. SAYWHAT? We were sitting on the patio so it wasn’t like we were inside and also, we STAYED to DRINK rather thank moving on to another place with an open kitchen. So get it together! I probably won’t be back here because I don’t live near by, but lack of communication is an obvious issue with their staff.

What is the deal with this place. This is the second time I attempted to try Big Ben Tavern. The first time I tried they weren’t open and it was 11:30 on a Friday. This time, my daughter and I stopped at 11:20. Doors were locked and no one inside. I’m thinking they see me coming and lock the place down. :) Sorry, Big Ben

**dropping another star after 2 hours later of puking my brains out after eating their curry fries! First time back in two years when all I did was come in late for a beer with friends ! Interesting to say the food menu is more than meets the eye(in a good and bad way), staff is questionable, and the manager seems to be customer distance with rude persona. I’ll start out positive and say that they have amazing specials and hour hour deals. The specials and happy hours are what would have me come back more than anything. As far as the menu, it looks magical, but it has turn d out to be a real hit and miss. Scotch Egg was lacking lots of sausage but was enjoyable for $ 5. The Curry fries were chili fries with walmart nacho cheese and Texas chili with some powder chili added as a mask. Staff has been mostly nice so far, but has cost me more money since they have been horrible at quoting the actual price. I ask about the $ 4 bomb special pertaining to possibly Irish car bars. They said no but it’s only $ 7. I say sure and then they offer you a shot glass that’s too big to do a bomb with and then tell me it’s $ 9 instead after I do the shot. If you’ve ever done an Irish car bomb it’s about timing and it has to have the shot fit into the glass otherwise it curdles. Finally the manager or owner: unless you have tits he’s hiding from you or ignores you even if you’ve been sitting there at the bar for 10 – 15 minutes waiting to be served looking at him. I tried simply performing small talk with him and he acted like he was busy while sitting at the bar eating a burger with what was suppose to be my bartender that was eating with him. My last comment would be that I came in at 2:15(4+ hours of being open) and the chalk board of specials at the front door are all the same deals from yesterday. Not knowing that the bartender says it’s not her fault and that she has nothing to do with the chalk board. Conclusion: if you’re looking for cheap specials/happy hour this is the place for you. If you’re looking for food that might be good for you trashed and doesn’t taste as good as it usually sounds this might be the place for you. Make sure to make the bartender confirm the price because even if she’s worked here for 11 months she might not provide the service you’re or price expected.

I have been here before but the last time I was here was about a year or so ago. I came back to BBT a month ago. First time back and I got here for the Texans first away game and Sunday Funday($ 12.00 bottomless mimosas… I did not partake) Sat down and as usual I did not know what to drink considering they had plenty amount of brew selections. Was helped accordingly by the two ladies working that day at the bar. They helped me decide which beers to pick. They give samples of the beers before ordering which is always a plus. Nice environment, friendly crowd. Food isn’t bad. I had some wings which were good sized and succulent. I stopped by last Thursday 10⁄22 for $ 5.00 Big Ben Burger special. Nice burger, just a little bland for my taste but good nonetheless. I stop by in here every now and then but have yet to check out the night scene. I’ll probably be back for UFC nights.

I think it needs noting that the service here should get 5 stars! Hands down! They were friendly and quick, helpful and very welcoming. The food for the most part went down well, I got a free home made pretzel for checking in on Unilocal and we ordered a scotch egg for starters. Firstly, please serve the sauce for the egg on the side, I don’t know a single Brit or Irish person who drowns their egg like that, and although tasty, it was unnecessary. I found that $ 5 for one egg was pretty steep to be honest. Husband and mother loved the fish, my dad loved his steak and egg, but we all had serious problems with the«chips». Advertise fish and fries if it’s fish and fries. Chips they are most certainly not. They are frozen, from a bag fries. My chicken curry fries were ok, not enough chicken, curry was quite bland and the skin of cheese wasn’t necessary. For the price it wasn’t bad, the place was empty in spite of the happy hour specials but the service was great :)
