Grilled chicken tikka was so juicy and well seasoned down to the bone. The haleem was rich and thick but certainly not delicious, was like a paste, i was hoping to see pieces of meat in it but was a little disappointed with the haleem, since it’s my favorite. I went there for the haleem !! The rest of the food was OK.

My friend invited me to here. I am from Japan. I thought Tempura would be some Japanese restaurant. However, When I opened the door. I found that this was a some Indian/Pakistan Restaurant.LOL. Anyway, I love Indian/Pakistan food. I checked some of the reviews. Most of the negative, one star reviews were due to Tempura’s bad services. Lucky, I met a lot of nice people. The manager was from Bangladesh. He spoke some Japanese. He took me to the dining area. He was so nice. Foods were okay, It was a big restaurant. I enjoyed not only South Asian food, But also, American&Chinese foods such as Noodles and serial. Overall, I love this restaurant. I have a suggestion in order to improve. Tempura should serve some Japanese foods. This restaurant uses Japanese food name. It will apple to more Japanese food lovers. Arigato.

If you want to experience a messy establishment with leftover food served from last night’s party, proceed to Tempura Grill’s weekend buffet. Summary: reheated leftovers from last party! To make it worse, the restaurant management had a worker drill and hammer the brick wall in the buffet area at the lunch time. When I complained to the manager, he repeated my instructions to the driller and went back inside. After a pause, the drilling continued with the noise. This is prime time Saturday buffet experience — imagine any other day! Health & safety inspector: notice water and trash on the floor during business hours. Mgmt. are ignorant of slip & trip hazard

I have been to their Sunday brunch twice and both times I was very satisfied with the quality of food, and service. Their buffet bar is huge. Excellent haleem and paya. Good biriyani. Awesome halwa puri! I was informed that the dinner buffet includes kabob items. Next time I go it will be for that.

This review over due, I was visiting my sister on holiday, she took me there for lunch with her kids, my sister my self and one of kid decided to have buffet, other three order from the menu, to my surprise buffet was on patio area open to dirty area, but food presentation was look good and I was very Hungary, while we where getting food, two of the employees where moping the floor and setting up extra plates at same time, open chemical bottle sitting by the door, wet grease floor, scrub mop and squeegee sitting in front of door leading to buffet area, we got the food and walk thru so call dirty dinning area to front of counter two table was clean, we sat there, no one came out to bring any water nor told us where to get it, there was an old man sitting behind the counter, just staring at us, even when I say hello to him he just kept staring at us, when we tasted the buffet food was old, chicken Bryine tasted funny, just around horrible experience. All they care about getting paid even then man behind the counter still did not put a smile on his face, I almost called the health department, but my sister told not to. One thing for sure this place and people work there do care about, quality of food, good service, cleanses of restaurant, above all friendly service, my fist and last visit to this place. Very Nasty.

Update: July 12, 2015. This review was long due as I didn’t get a chance to come back and eat here. As I write this update, I’m having my share of awesome gulab jamun(Specialty dessert). I’m thrilled by Tempura’s Iftar service and management. This is my first time trying their buffet. I’ve tried their live BBQ before and it wasn’t disappointing. I’ve tried many indo/pak restaurant during Ramadan and most of them, sadly were a disappointment. Tempura in Sugarland is very impressive. From their banquet hall to the dessert stand, everything was awesomely managed. By far the best buffet service for $ 15. Buffet items included vegetable fried rice, Veggie noodles, goat biryani, haleem, Fried Lahore fish, Chicken karahi, chicken boti, chicken tikka and aloo dal(I’m sure I’m forgetting some additional items). Buffet also included desserts and awesome chai !!! Restaurant had staff members with walkie talkie monitoring the food level of every tray and would refill even though the present tray wasn’t fully empty. I’d recommend this place very highly and will go back for one more Iftar. Have fun and eat tight !!!

This review is not about the food, which by the way, was good, and enjoyed by our guests. Instead, this review is about our nightmare of an experience hosting my sister’s wedding in their ballroom. Our hall was booked months advance for June 7th, and the week leading up to the wedding, I called, my mother called, and my sister(the bride) called to make sure things were in order and that the hall could be ready by 2pm for me to set up. I was my sister’s decorator, therefore, needed to get there early to set up in time for the wedding. I call Sunday at 3pm to make sure the hall is set up, and the uncle who answered the phone at the restaurant said that 10 of 20 tables are set up only. I got a little nervous and began asking why, when I had specifically said 2pm and confirmed this multiple times. He said to call Javaid uncle(whom we have been in contact with during the whole process). I call Javaid uncle and he ASSURES me that the hall will be set up by the time I get there at 4pm and to leave my centerpieces there and they will take care of them. I told him no, and that the hall needs to be set up by 4pm and I will set the centerpieces myself since I made them myself. I call the decorator next, who is setting up the stage, to get an idea of how she is doing, and she proceeds to tell me that only a few tables are set up and they are waiting for THEEVENTGOINGON to end so they can finish setting up. When she first says this, I’m thinking, oh the event going on in the smaller hall next door. Nope. It’s OUR hall that the event is going on in. Apparently, Javaid double booked our hall for an exhibition, and the other party is under the impression the wedding starts at 9:30pm. The wedding cards say 7pm. Not once in all of our phone calls did anyone mention that another event would be going on in our hall. Our stage decorator is the one who told us… I go into panic mode, show up at Tempura at 4pm, and there is a full on bazaar going on in half of our wedding hall with people eating at some of our set tables, and people sitting near our stage. We confront Javaid uncle and we go on setting up as much as we can, and he ASSURES us that the hall will be ready when I come back at 6:30pm. He also brings up the fact that we did not pay our balance 14 days before as our contract stated. THANKGOODNESS we didn’t pay him b/c he double booked our hall and did not have it ready as promised! If anything, that should be what’s in the contract. Remaining balanced must be paid the day of to ensure the hall comes through as promised. On top of it, he had agreed that he would accept the money on the day of the wedding, but still very rudely brought up the fact we hadn’t paid in front of my friend and other people who were in the hall. That is when I became very upset as it was not appropriate to bring that up, especially since he worked it out w/my family. I come back at 7pm, and the clothing exhibition is going full on with more people arriving, as if nothing had happened. I hunt down Javaid uncle, and of course have words for him, as do my husband, brother, and friends. He says to please let him handle it and to work as much as I can on what is set up(which is the same as I left it…). My mom shows up, not knowing the full extent of what is going on b/c i didn’t want to stress her or my sister, the bride, out. She comes in full on yelling at the top of her lungs and gets everyone out of the hall and gets Javaid uncle to set up the hall ASAP. Guests were already arriving outside for cocktail hour(which wasn’t set up by 7pm as stated in the contract), we had to push everything back an hour. The WHOLE night, Javaid uncle kept«apologizing,» for making me cry and making my mom have an almost heart attack, but was not embarrassed to still ask for his money the whole night and point out that 5 extra people came, but he will let the go. Your apology no longer seems sincere when you throw things like that in our face. Thankfully everything got set up, the wedding happened, my sister got married, and she was blissfully unaware until I told her the whole story the next day. Word to the wise, DONOTBOOKTHISHALL. They will double book you go to make an extra buck and will not give you any real concession for their screw up. We had an absolutely horrible experience there and Javaid uncle is not equipped to run a banquet hall and should hire someone who is organized and honest, and cares for their client’s feelings.

First of all. The place is very small. The buffet has the same items that are always the same day after day. Basically, recycled food day after day. Not much taste to it and very very expensive buffet. Poor quality and poor service. Like the other reviewer said not a clean place. The owners think that customers have no other place to go in Sugar Land and have become arrogant. There are many other better places to go. If you want to waste your money and have bland food then this is your place.

Tempura is my favorite desi restaurant to go to in Houston. The food is always amazing. i love the Biryani and their catering is really good. Asrar is really nice and friendly. I’ve eaten at Tempura dozens of times and the food has always been great. This location is their newer of the two. Opened up sometime around April 2013. The hals here is bigger than the other locations.

The best thing about here, compared to other HALAL restaurants out there, is that here«hand cut zabiha» chicken is served. Which is halal. Not like the other places who serve machine slaughtered chicken and call it halal. This place assures you that you will get halal. Alhamdulillah The dishes served here are fresh and tasty. The buffet is great, the cleanliness of this place is satisfying. We’ve eaten here many times. The owner is great. The waiters try their best to serve you. Although sometimes it seems they are taking a long time to get you what you need. Again I say the buffet is a great option. You get many dishes to taste. We’ve eaten at many restaurants in Sugar Land, but we like Tempura the best!

I am absolutely disgusted at the customer service provided at Tempura Grill. I called the restaurant to order take out and the man that answered the phone asked rudely«what do you want?». Ummm learn how to run a business please. I ordered the chicken biryani. Next and the most important, when I went to go pick up my food, no one was eating there. The man who worked the counter was actually eating food. Which is fine. But he was eating with his hands. So when he saw me he proceeded to get up go to the counter NOTWASHHISHANDS. Pack my food with his dirty curry hands, take my credit card with his dirty curry hands. WTF. I had to disinfect my card when I got home. I am so disgusted. There was brown curry sauce on my credit card and on the plastic wrapping that came from his dinner. Lastly, the online menu states that the biryani is $ 6 something dollars they charged me $ 10 something. It’s fair because they give you a huge portion, but why the false advertising? Fix it please. You know the food was actually not bad. Fire the man who took my order and fix your customer service. If the man took my order is the owner, then I will NEVER come back here again. The cleanliness of this place is compromised.

If you intend to eat at the outdoor buffet, just know that the Mosquitos will be accompanying you. These little critters are just as hungry as you are and have come for an all you can eat desi buffet! I wish they’d put up repellents and more fans so we could actually enjoy the food! Also, no beef items! Please put some beef BBQ!!!

Had Iftar dinner here last night. The food was Ah-maZing!!! Tandoori chicken so juicy and tender, haleem so rick and thick and delicious, alongside goat biryani perfected. I will admit I wanted Thai last night but was convinced by hubby to try here instead. I was definitively satiated. I really hope they keep up the buffet after Eid so we can make it our regular Sunday brunch place.

If you order, get the malai chicken boti. Unreal. The buffet was great! Fresh items kept coming. The place is very small but when we were there(at an off time) it was empty and the buffet was still going on. I’d like to come back here!

Best Pakistani restaurant in town. Unlike other restaurants that are desi, they actually have customer service skills here. The food compliments everything. No wonder this place is a great success story!!!

This place is always so good! A thousand times better than bundu khan. The melai chicken is literally the softest, most flavorful thing EVER. Sometimes I can’t even believe it’s chicken because when I cut it in half with the naan, it’s like I’m cuting a piece of soft cake. It literally is so soft is un real. And the flavor is so bold and good!!! The naan is always nice and fluffy! I don’t eat Bihari kabob but my family is obsessed with their’s. The halwa is really sweet.

I got some take out from this place one evening. The place was completely empty when I came by to pick the food. There was some kind of mix up with the order so I had to wait a little longer, but it wasn’t too bad. The food itself was very underwhelming to me. We ordered chicken malai kabab, beef bihari kabab, and a few naans(garlic and butter). While my husband loved the chicken malai kabab, I absolutely hated it. I’m not docking stars off of it because it could just be my pickiness. I just felt like it lacked flavor and I hated the texture. I don’t eat beef so I can’t speak for the beef bihari kabab but he said it was alright. The naan was very crunchy and didn’t taste fresh to me at all. I was very disappointed because I was hoping for the soft fluffy naan that is usually served at Indian/Pakistani places and this was just plain crunchy. The menu wasn’t as impressive as I’d hoped. There are a lot of other Indian/Pakistani restaurants around with better menus and better quality naan so I’m going to stick to those. As far as the ambiance goes, it felt very bleh and depressing to me. Little to no décor.

Was invited here to buffet style for a friends gathering. Food smelled wonderful and tasted great, not too spicy, but just enough kick. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised. Then, the same night I woke up with food poisoning, feeling horrible. I will not be returning. Update 10÷17÷13: I went again! Some people may think I’m nuts for going back but I went for the Eid buffet and I didn’t get sick. Finger crossed it’s been 2 days since I went. Changing my review to 3 stars.

This is a new restaurant in Sugar Land, it offers Pakistani & Indian dishes. It is a bit pricey, but it is good food. Service is nice but the dishes takes a while to be ready. Not recommended if you only have one hour to eat lunch. If time is not a problem, then stay for a while and enjoy their desserts as well.
