Tacos were good and tasty. Prices were high compared to other places. It was also crowded and busy during the day.

Great tacos! If you are taco lover then try this. Beef fajita taco and brushfire tacos are the bomb. Each taco is $ 3.50 to $ 4.25. You order, pay and eat .They have bar too. Will be returning soon.

Obviously not authentic Mexican tacos, but nonetheless great food. I love the trailer park trashy and brushfire! Diablo sauce is super spicy, but soooo good and their queso, best I’ve ever had. Nice environment, pretty good service.

Glad to see a location open up in Sugar Land after going to one in ATX. It’s a pretty good taco joint with some quirky and delish food combinations. The queso is legit good! Great for breakfast and lunch. Great full bar options with a few beers on draft and other bottle and can selections. All in all its a good place to get your taco and drink on.

Oh Torchy’s, thank you for opening up in Sugarland. The biggest plus about this location is that there’s ample seating and a large parking lot — so goodbye to having to fight for parking! This location also has its’ own bar set-up. My favorites are the Baja Shrimp and their secret menu item: the Hillbilly. Be warned, if you’re gonna try the Hillbilly, get some water. It’s super spicy. It comes with a fried chicken tender, chorizo, chopped bacon, and green chilies.

Never gets old here! Always so amazing !! I come atleast 2 – 4 times a month. Today I tried something new the fried avocado taco! So amazing !! And a great vegetarian option! I withheld the pico, but still amazing! Oh and on flour! Also I got the beef taco !! Plus half an order of Guac and queso! Best queso I’ve ever had in my life! Glad the sugar land location is here !! When I went to UH I frequented the rice village and the heights locations !! Now I’m back home for grad school so it’s convenient to go to this location! And I love the bar setup!

Amazing tacos. Descent prices. Need I say more? Okay I will. We had tried quit a few tacos; fried avacado, democrat, barbiqoua, trailer park and their queso. Two thumbs up. Oh and we had some taco with fried shrimp. The best one was the democrats if you ask me.

We stopped by this morning to pickup a few tacos to go for breakfast. I ordered the Ranch Hand which consists of fajita beef, scrambled eggs, cheese and Diablo sauce on a flour tortilla. It was your average taco. There was nothing special about it that would make me want to go back and order it again. I also tried the taco of the month. The Washingtonian had pulled pork, green onions, jack cheese, pickles, sour cream, avocado topped with chipotle barbecue sauce. This taco was bursting with flavor. I would definitely order it again. The service was fast and the staff was friendly. This is a reasonably priced taco restaurant that serves a variety of beer. It’s cool for a quick bite.

Not a great Torchy’s experience; we are frequent Torchy’s diners in the Austin area. We stopped in for a quick dinner while visiting family in the Sugarland area. We were excited to see that we beat the dinner rush. After a painfully long order experience, we sat down and waited for our food. The salsa and guacamole showed up quickly, but took another 10 minutes and a server demanding a copy of our receipt for the queso to be delivered to our table. Our food showed shortly after the queso and was good… My five year old devoured her bean and cheese taco and asked for another. No line = win, right? Well, if a 20 minute wait for another bean and cheese taco is a win, then you are in luck! Not sure we will stop in next time we are in town. Only reason for two stars is that the food was good.

Not good! It is very expensive for the little bit you get. 4 of us ate breakfast for $ 46 and we were not close to full. My beef taco was mostly fat, my sons grande burrito was mostly lettuce and beans, my husbands bacon egg and cheese was mostly egg. All the food came at a room temperature and there was nobody willing to help us regarding our displeasure. We wanted to try Torchy’s and we did thats for sure… but never again!!! I give it 2 stars only because the drinks with the natural sugar from the soda fountain were great… but not the black cherry. It was out of order! I am very disappointed in most restaurants we have tried recently in Sugar Land… you would expect from the area things would be good… most things in the area just really seem lacking!

Enjoyed having breakfast here. I had the Ranch Hand and Wrangler which were soooooooo gooooood! My wife had the Wrangler and chorizo egg and cheese which she said were equally delectable. Tanya had the Chorizo egg and cheese and jalapeño sausage and egg which she said were delicious. Service was courteous, friendly, and fast. This is a must try.

LOOOOOVETHISPLACEFORTEX-MEX. All of the tacos they have range from 3.50−4.50. One taco is the same size as two tacos from a taco truck which when you think about it is about the same price. Most places have the usual Coke, Sprite, Dr Pepper etc but here the drinks are from Maine root which is basically the better and more flavorful versions of this drink. At torchys you order and pay first before you get your tacos. You get a card with your numbers on it and they have a stand on your table where you can put hang the card on. The seating is sit where ever you want and it’s a little cramped if you come on a weekend night. Let me tell you about the service here the people are extremely nice. At the cash register I couldn’t choose what to buy and the cashier was very friendly and offered many choices. I forgot to put my cards on the stand but the waiter was extremely nice and did not make me feel bad about forgetting to put it on the stand. Overall this place is pretty good for fast tacos.

Torchy’s has some good taco options, as well as the sauces. The price per taco is still a very sore spot for me, especially when sticking a chicken strip into a tortilla and adding green chilies, lettuce, pico de gallo and cheese with poblano sauce yields an almost $ 4 price tag. And I can’t understand why places like this, in areas of high traffic, don’t seem to have enough staff available on cash registers to take care of a long line of customers.

TORCHY’S ISBAAAAAAAAAAAEEEEEEEEEEE I was sooooooooooo happy when they put a location in Sugarland! I love the taco combinations, how fresh everything is, and the creativity behind each one. I haven’t been disappointed yet by any of my taco choices and look forward to the taco of the month each month. Also after ‘discovering’ the ‘secret’ Torchy’s taco menu online I’ve added those eclectic options to my regular rotation. When we have time to actually dine in, the bar side is fun and always lively. I have zero complaints about the staff… even the bus boys are extremely pleasant! I’m a regular and will continue to be as long as they don’t change their recipe of success.

Given the great reputation and locations, I was excited to see what all the hype was about surrounding Torchy’s. First Impression: Located next to Five Guys(THE burger joint of the West where I am from) in Sugar Land, Torchy’s ANNIHILATES the nearby competition, always having 5x as many customers, ALL the time. Second Impression: Given their dominance, this place is ALWAYS busy; meaning long ordering and food prep times. Good luck on a quick and quiet lunch break(weekends are worse). The Service: The small layout of this location makes it difficult to rate the quality of customer service, as weird as that sounds. Servers are constantly bumping their bums into customers and close tables make it almost impossible for them to do their job with excellence. Excellence: If you have made it this far into my review, you obviously can look past my pet peeves. In all honesty, their food is not what I would call excellent. Granted, their flavor combinations and menu design could absolutely be categorized as excellent, they just are lacking in execution. Despite the long wait lines and unfortunate server conditions, the register attendants definitely have an excellence to them. With the amount of customers they go through and still manage to be professional and pleasant, that is a commendable feat. Execution: Above I mention how they’re inches away(maybe feet in the case of crowded tables…) from being a 5 star. But for now, the word that comes to mind whenever I think of Torchy’s is execution, rather a lack of execution. I get it, they’re doing the best they can dealing with this massive influx of customers(within the past few years it seems), but something has to change before I head over for a quick bite here. Finally, it all comes down to if the price is right… Is it? No, in my own humble opinion, the price is not right at Torchy’s Tacos. If it were up to me, I would do 1 of 2 things to combat this issue: Make portions larger(2 tacos instead of 1) for a bit more cash. OR Keep the portions the same for a bit less cash, allowing customers to buy 2. Bottom Line: I am not interested in waiting in line for 1 overpriced taco. For most, 1 taco is not a meal, and for the category this place is residing in right now, $ 10+ per person is too steep. I don’t blame Torchy’s for this pricing error however, as business is booming. But when sales start to decline, this should be priority #1. If some of the small items are addressed, I would definitely consider it more often and recommend it frequently. But for now, Torchy’s is just another taco shop off the 59.

We were curious to know what the big fuss was all about. We received mixed reviews about Torchy’s –many Austin folks said that these were great tacos, others said that they were overpriced. Needless to say, we are on the hunt for some gold tacos, and were hoping to make this a local hangout. After exploring what other Unilocalers had to say, we ventured out to the SL location for a date night. In review: Tortilla chips with green chile queso: 5⁄5 The Democrat: 3⁄5 barbacoa was excellent, soft, great taste The Crossroads: 2⁄5 brisket not as good as expected, sharp, smoky flavor Trailer Park(trashy): 4⁄5 the fried chicken was excellent, but just salty aftertaste Breakfast taco w/chorizo: 5⁄5 my unexpected favorite, chorizo was perfect, plus it was half the price of the other tacos. It was so stuffed it was more like a burrito. Drinks: 5⁄5 they have the maine root beers, vanilla crème(my favorite), cherry, Mexican cola Service: 5⁄5 they checked on us at least 3 times, refilled our chips, and gave us plenty of sauces Now for the critical part of my review. We think Torchy’s does a good job in offering creative taco combinations. I really love the fact that they use Texan bbq meats and integrate them into their tacos. However, if you are looking for«traditional tacos», you may set yourself up for disappointment. Admittedly, this is mainly an issue of preference. But we are looking for the kind you would find in taco trucks downtown(Tierra Caliente) or hole in the wall places you would find in LA. Yet we agreed this place is good for what it is, but it just did not hit the spot. Plus, $ 4 for the average taco was a bit much. However, I DO want to give a shout out for the chips and green chili con queso. And I would definitely come back and get the breakfast tacos– these were solid.

I expected better since it’s such a hot and new place that everyone talks about, it’s good, but perhaps the reality didn’t match my expectations so a mediocre review at best. Speed — many of my friends and reviews on Unilocal complained about its slowness, but since it has been open for a little while, we didn’t have that problem and all of our food came within 10 minutes. Staff — some reviews raved about the awesome service, something we didn’t have the luxury of experiencing. We still tipped the right amount, but there was no service really, just a bored guy in the front taking our food orders, and someone else dropping our food off. Tacos — they are big, stuffed and inexpensive. However I didn’t like that most of the veggies are preserved and not fresh.

Today was my first time coming to Torchy’s new location in Sugar Land. I tried going the day before, but the inside was really packed and the lines extended into the parking lot. Today, I made it in! The cashier was really nice and quick with my order. Inside was jam packed and at the moment, I can’t see myself ever eating there. Too congested and too much going on. I had to wait 20+ minutes for my order, which would’ve been fine if they had cool air circulating, but they didn’t, and being as packed as they were, it was uncomfortable and hot. I was given a number and instructed to make it visible while I to waited for my order. My first inclination was to wait at the bar; since there weren’t any other seats available. I held my order number up and one of the bartenders snarled me for not placing my number in the designated place. I didn’t appreciate that. Eventually, my order came and I left. When I came home, my order was messed up. The labels were wrong and the food wasn’t what I ordered. One of my tacos(avocado) was really good though. If you ever get a chance to visit, take peek inside their kitchen, it’s a madhouse! Based on that alone, I’m not surprised they botched my order. I’m not writing them off yet, but I won’t be coming back until the newness dies down a bit. When I do revisit, I’ll write an updated review. If you manage to get there when they’re not so busy, only then would I recommend going in, other than that, I’d suggest going elsewhere.
