Amazing place with awesome food! The entire staff took great care of myself and a group of wounded veterans last night. Even at full capacity our servers got our food and drinks out very quickly and ensured we were all taken care of. Massive portions of delicious food with something on the menu for everyone. Highly recommended, and I will definitely be back.

Very good bbq restaurant! Our party of 8 did have to wait 1.5hr to get a table on a Saturday night… it was totally worth though… Best chicken wings ever… Also had a salad with bbq shrimp which was delicious as well!

Went here on a very busy afternoon. Had the brisket with mac n cheese and the brunswick stew. All of it was delicious. However, I wasn’t too crazy about their sauces. They were just different than what I’m used to. Service was good. I would reccommend it.

Fantastic bbq! I ordered the chopped brisket with fries and beans. The smoked brisket was excellent, not much fat and smoked just right. The red and spicy red sauce is tangy with the right amount of spice and flavor! Highly recommend going to this place!

Helllloooo BBQ! Honestly we were trying to go to Poes but the line was half a block down the road. So we walked over to Firey Ron’s. If you love good BBQ and divey type places this is the best. Also try the Game Changer, best frozen drink in the south.

This place was recommended by a friend, Ron Bunch, so of course he’d think a place named RON’s would be good! He was so right. We shared the wing appetizer and the Pulled Pork and Chopped Brisket Platter with Mac n cheese and hash n rice. We liked it all, but the vinegar based sauce is our favorite with the pulled pork. HOWEVER, the next time we go, we will just get the wings. They are hands down the best we’ve ever had. Idk if they are flash fried then smoked, or if just smoked, but the are Krispy with a dry rub that’s amazing. Go early, it’s crowded.

Have family in for graduation week! Called to put our name on the list and told we can’t. That’s ok. So we went in and put our name in. We were told 45 minutes. 1.5 hours later and after checking in 5 times we left!(So did 2 families before us who were sitting waiting). Awful! There is 1 teenage girl running the seating and she has NO clue how to manage a wait list like that! We watched several groups of 6 – 8 leave yet we never got seated. People who showed up after us were seated before us and we were told that’s table size. Won’t go again unless it’s Tuesday at 4!

Top notch BBQ and a terrific atmosphere to get your inner carnivore on. Had brunch here with some buddies and we were all impressed and satisfied. The dry rub wings were simply outstanding; crispy, spicy and juicy. Probably the best dry rub wings I’ve ever had. The St. Louis ribs were also on point. The steak and eggs, with tater tots as well as the shrimp and grits were also well received. We had sides of the Mac and Cheese as well as the collards. Everything was excellent. Watch out on the game changer(specialty cocktail) or it could be game over if you’re not careful. Service was welcoming, friendly and attentive.

Frank Underwood would be proud of this place. Every single aspect of this meal was amazing. We were seated immediately and jumped right into an order of the wings. The wings were a masterpiece and cooked to perfection. We also went with a half rack of the St. Louis Ribs for our second appetizer. Meat fell right off the bone. Delicious and succulent. Wow. The«Game Changer» f/k/a the«Painkiller» was something fierce. Frosty rum drink mixed with all types of citrus goodness and topped with a little nutmeg. For the main course, we ordered the Steak and Eggs(with tater tots), Shrimp and Grits, accompanied by Mac & Cheese and Collard Greens. The Steak and Eggs had two fried eggs with a brisket underneath that with tater tots underneath that with sautéed onions and peppers lurking underneath that. I’m talking good ol’ Southern style cooking to perfection. Shrimp and Grits were delish with some pieces of sausage mixed in just to remind you that you are in the South. Mac & Cheese and Collard Greens were on point. Service was solid and they were showing the Mets game when we left. Will probably be my first stop on my next trip to Chucktown.

Home Team BBQ is majorly growing on me. When I first moved to Charleston, one of my friends MAJORLY overhyped this place as the best BBQ ever. Texas brisket it is not, but Home Team is a great time nonetheless. Despite being out on Sullivan’s Island any chance I get, Saturday night was my first time eating at this location. First of all, talk about PACKED. Most of said patrons were there drinking though so it only turned out to be a 15 – 20 minute wait. If you’re feeling inclined to get really drunk(followed by really hungover shortly thereafter), get a game changer. It’s a frozen cocktail with rum, rum, and more rum and is a game changer for real. The brisket is very good, just not Texas melt in your mouth beef brisket. If you know that going in though, you will not be disappointed. Collards and macaroni were also great. Home Team is officially my favorite of the bars and restaurants on Middle Street. Now that I’ve finally graced this location with my presence, I’ll be back whenever I find myself hungry and/or thirsty out on Sullivan’s.

Good lord. What is there not to like about their BBQ. I’ve read that this was their best location out of the 3 so I had to make a visit. They serve frozen drinks and that was cool, it’s great when your mouth is on fire or you’re hot and sticky from the SC climate. Their St. Louis ribs are not falling off the bone btw, it’s meaty, and their smoky flavor was spot on. They have 5 other sauces on the table for you to try and it’s like omg where do I begin??? Just wish they gave out wet naps. That’s one thing I didn’t get and I hate vinegary sticky finger nails lol.

I have a bone to pick with this place on a metaphysical level. Meat melting in your mouth is just supposed to be a saying. But the brisket here is so damn good, it actually falls apart in your mouth. This is by far the best beef brisket that I have ever had in my life, and i cannot overstate this. To top it off, the macaroni and cheese, and the mashed potatoes I had as my sides were amazing too. Do yourself a favor and have some of this brisket!

Since Chef Taylor Garrigan won Chopped, I’ve been wanting to hit Home Team BBQ on Sullivan’s Island. Today, if I finally made it, and I can def say it will be one of our new regular stops. The dry rubbed and smoked wings were tender and juicy and came with a white sauce that added a little sweetness. Devoured six of those puppies! The greens were some of the best I’ve had anywhere. Omg. I could eat a whole pot. I ate one noodle off my husbands Mac n cheese so I could report in, and let me tell you that my gluten free heart pined for more. The pulled pork was one for the books, too! I can see why people rave about his place. They even had a substantial whiskey and bourbon list for this whiskey girl(though at lunch, I stuck to a bottle of Cheerwine). You gotta go! Seriously.

Prob one of the best BBQ places I’ve visited. We had a party of 28 for lunch and the hostess was awesome and efficient at trying to squeeze us in to tables as they opened. The wings, pork rinds and brisket sliders were to-die-for. The collards were good — just a tad sweet for me — I like them more on the vinegar side. Only wish I wasn’t too full to try their desserts. Another bonus — it’s right near the beach so you can go there before or after you eat! Fun, casual atmosphere, but a bit loud. Would definitely go back!

Excellent dinner as usual. Drinks at the bar before dinner. Started with the wings and we both had the pulled pork platter. Everything was delicious. Service was great and they were very attentive. Always love the fun atmosphere. The only criticism is why is there no longer corn bread on the menu? Instead replaced by 2 pieces of white bread the I don’t think was toasted. Please bring back the corn bread!

I’m pretty much copying/pasting the review I wrote for the West Ashley location, but it needs to be said twice: Home Team! Is it the best barbecue for barbecue aficionados? Probably not. Do I love their rack of ribs with white sauce on the side and a game changer to wash it down? Absolutely(this is especially true after a long summer day at the beach). Casual, fun atmosphere, and they like to try some different things – a rarity for bbq places. But I always get the ribs because I can’t help myself.

Customer service was just okay. It was a full house on a Friday night, but that shouldn’t be an excuse. The waitress took a while before she took our order and wasn’t attentive. Also, the hostess was trying to configure a table for 4 people for about 15 minutes and at the end it was still all screwed up. It felt so uncomfortable yet funny watching all 4 of them in one very small table. On a lighter side, food was on point! Their pulled pork nachos, sliced brisket and bbq burrito was pretty good. Brisket was cooked to perfection!!! Noise level was pretty loud, which I didn’t mind, but if your looking for a quiet place to dine in, this is not the place for you.

We were headed to another restaurant when we saw this place and decided to try it. It was a great decision! I had the sliced brisket sandwich and my boyfriend had the pulled pork sandwich. Both were delicious! The sauces provided were a great compliment to the food. The pickles were pretty awesome as well. The only thing I wasn’t hip to was the fact you wait by the counter for you food, which is fine if all of your order comes out at once, however my boyfriend’s food was out almost ten minutes before mine. He was seated and waiting on me with his food getting cold. Aside from that it was a good experience. The staff was friendly and we will be returning on our next visit.

From Texas visiting family and I heard a lot of hype about home team. It delivered. The portions are huge and the service was pretty quick for a relaxed bbq joint. I had brisket, pulled pork, 6 wings, collards and Brunswick stew. The brisket was some of the best I have ever tasted. It was brilliantly seasoned and the amount of fat to lean was perfect. Better than most Texas bbq places I’ve been to. The pulled pork was pretty good, nothing outstanding but it was definitely good. Next time I would like to try a pulled pork sandwich and see how that goes. The sides were great. The collards had tons of flavor packed into them and the Brunswick stew was pretty good. The wings are why you go here!!! They were huge! And the dry rub is something I have never had before and it was AWESOME!!! The Alabama white sauce was icing on the cake. Great establishment and laid back atmosphere. It’s A must visit!

C’mon Charleston, get a grip. HT came highly recommended from a local, and after seeing the rave reviews I thought we had found a winner. Wrong. Ribs were completely overcooked, as was the pulled pork(mush). Wings were fantastic which got the 2 star reviews along with the outstanding service. I guess if you’re someone who likes ribs/pork out of a crockpot(read: overcooked and fall off the bone nasty) then you may like this place. Come for the wings, beer, TVs and service. Don’t come for the real BBQ.

Get the wings. Get the wings. Get the wings. And then get some more wings! Mac & cheese is fantastic, old pork is average, smoked turkey is not very good, ribs are better than average. Did I mention that you should get the wings? Overall very good barbecue very good sides homemade pickles were fantastic also. Oh yeah, get some wings to go!!!

Delicious! I love both locations of home team, but I prefer this one. The service is great, and the food comes out fast. They are flexible with the food so you can change things. They have indoor seating and patio seating. A very casual place to eat and hangout. They have tvs you can watch while you eat. The music is a bit loud, but it fits the restaurant. I started off with the queso and chips, but I added the pulled pork. The pork melted in my mouth, and was deliciously amazing. I got the BBQ wrap for my meal. I would come back here everyday if I could. It satisfies my BBQ cravings.

Pretty good Sunday go to BBQ joint to take a break from the weekend… Usually service has been slow here, but today they were pretty on point which was nice. Their food quality seems to be improving too. The only good food they had before in my opinion used to be the half chicken, but their other BBQ platters seem to be on point today. I had a «grilled chicken burger» which was actually their chicken burger and then I stuck a grilled cheese in there. Needed a good carb meal before hitting the gym.

We had a great experience here! Four of us stopped in for an early lunch before hitting the beach on a Saturday — 4th of July. The place got crowded quickly after we arrived, but we were seated quickly and in a nice spot. The service was superb — hence the rare 5 star rating from me, Food was fairly typical bar food, nachos, burgers, etc etc but a nice variety on the menu and all very tasty and good. We’ve stopped in most places on Sullivan’s Island but Home Team may become our go-to place. Bravo!

Home Team BBQ is amazing! It’s definitely one of my favorite spots to visit in Charleston! It is always packed, but don’t let that drive you away, because a lot of times the crowd is just from people coming from the beach to drink delicious GameChangers and White Russians. The atmosphere here is so fun. When my family entire family stays in Isle of Palms we make sure to have a BBQ night with take-out from Home Team. It’s delicious and easy. I visited for the Women’s World cup semis and the place was wild. If you want a good spot to watch sports come here! There is also trivia on Tuesday nights if you are looking for some extra entertainment come play trivia and drink one of their frozen specialty drinks. The white russian taste like an «adult» milkshake and the gamechanger is awesome as well. Now the most important part, the food. There isn’t a bad thing on the menu so order whatever. If you wanna stick with the classics the platter is a great option. If you aren’t starving split it and add some extra sides, it’s a lot of food! For the sides I love the mac n cheese, grits, and slaw. If you just came for an app get the nachos or the wings. On the fourth they were offering«Buffalo Chicken Cracklins”(friend chicken skins with buffalo sauce) and they were disgustingly delicious! Next time I come I want to try the tacos here!

I was stoked to finally get a chance to try Southern ‘que from the source and Home Team BBQ came highly recommended from one of the locals. Unfortunately, the meats were surprisingly average — nicely seasoned though dry ribs, lifeless and dessicated beef brisket… eh. The pulled pork was certainly decent, just hardly at all different from other iterations in both the West and East coast. Sides including the smoked chicken chili(no smokiness at all) and mac & cheese were fine. The venue was bustling on a Sunday afternoon with TVs everywhere and plenty of alcohol flowing including a locally focused draft list. Overall, it was a big letdown and I can’t wait to visit the South again sometime to see what the best places have to offer.

Had the nachos sampler for hors d’oeuvres. Surprisingly huge, easily fed three adults and we all thought it was among the best we’ve had. The pulled pork dinner which included two sides and cornbread was $ 11.95. This was a surprising bargain in more respects than one. The portions were generally large, sides were excellent, and the pulled pork was so good it needed no additional sauce. And was such a large portion we got a take-home container. I had the mac & cheese which was at least average, and the coleslaw which I felt was above average. The cornbread was slightly sweet and crumbled nicely. It was perhaps homemade certainly tasted that way. You could be fooled by the bar atmosphere into thinking that they didn’t take their BBQ seriously, but you would be wrong. The BBQ was very tender and lean, and represented a serious approach to good food. We fortunately had a table with sit down chairs, I didn’t care for the tall tables and stools option. We had small children as did other people. They had a children’s menu. although it was very noisy for children and had the most TVs I’ve ever seen on a restaurant. And they were fair size flat screens. The Masters golf tournament was on all the screens and the crowd enjoyed that. Maître d’ looked casual but took his job seriously and got me exactly the table I wanted. I was very surprised to get prompt waiter service and he got the orders completely correct. He also served the food much more promptly than I expected. The busboy was surprisingly industrious is well. Hardly a thing was I ever needed that he wasn’t there to take care of. Very impressive considering the place was packed and this was a Saturday night. It’s five stars in many ways but the overall atmosphere is a little noisy and of course it’s making no pretense of being a fancy sitdown establishment.

So while planning a recent girls foodie trip to Charleston in early Feb, we knew we had to include a good Carolina BBQ joint! Our research showed reviews were mixed(and pretty opinionated I must say!) as to which local BBQ spot was the«best». We narrowed it down to a few, but ultimately choose Fiery Ron’s Home Team in order to pair our lunch with a drive out of Historic Charleston into the harbor islands and a walk on the beach. It was a beautiful sunny day on the first Friday in Feb when we drove out to Sullivan’s Island, and since it was all four of our first visit to South Carolina, we were happy to get the opportunity to see a little more of the Charleston area. Since we arrived at off peak(~3pm on a Fri afternoon, which I would consider between lunch and happy hour), parking and seating was not really the issue other Unilocal’ers have pointed out– a few open parking spots on Middle St. and plenty of open tables. I think the colder weather may also have helped keep folks off the beach. As far as the food was concerned, we ordered the following with the intention to share everything family style. I loved mixing and matching different bites in order to try all the various house-made sauces on the table, especially the South Carolina-style mustard as it was my first time. – Pulled Pork and Brisket sliders(2 each) – 3 – 4 Rib Platter, which came with 2 sides and cornbread. – For our sides we choose Mac and Cheese & Collards. The hits of the table were the brisket(perfectly cooked and flavored!) sliders, the RIBS(smokey fall-off-the-bone tender goodness… and until the next day at Husk, the best ribs I had ever eaten!). Still delicious, but one step lower were the collards and the cornbread. In what shaped up to be the Great Charleston Cornbread Comparison, Home Team’s wasn’t my fav(Edmunds Oast) nor my worst(Hominy Grill). I thought the pork sliders and the mac n’ cheese were just ok. With all the TVs mounted around the space, I can see this being a fun place to watch a game and it also looked like they do regular live music(not sure of the schedule).

We came here with some out-of-town friends on a Sunday afternoon. They’d been there a week prior and wanted to come again before their vacation ended. So, first off, parking is a challenge. Just go grab a spot on a side street and save yourself a lot of driving around headache. We had to wait a few minutes for a table, and when we finally got one, it was inside. Due to the fact that football was on every screen around the place, I concluded that this was a spot for watching the game, which is why we had to wait for a table at 3:30 in the afternoon(not typically a prime meal-time). Our friends both got the pulled pork sandwiches, but I wanted to try more sides. To be honest, the meat is what pulls me into a BBQ place, and the sides keep me coming back. So, I ordered the pulled pork platter with macaroni and cheese and the cuke and tomato salad(to pretend to be somewhat healthy). I thoroughly enjoyed all of it. The pork was fabulously falling apart, as pulled pork should be. It was well seasoned and far from dry, so I didn’t even add sauce. Those who did add sauces were pleased with them, although there were no raves for days about it. The mac and cheese was certainly homemade and therefore delicious — I’m glad it was a small helping because otherwise the richness of it would have done me in. The cuke and tomato salad had a good bite of vinegar balanced with some sweetness. It’s a bit of a hike to get out there, so we won’t be regulars, but it was worth it for a special occasion.
