We’ve been to Sullivan’s each of the last 4 years and we really don’t care to look for other places to try. It’s sort of a small but fun & family friendly place to eat just near the firehouse and next to a small local grocery with a few tables outdoors across from the firehouse. I say small, but they have a pretty good seating capacity and I know have handled our extended party of 12 easily in the past, but there’s not a ton of room between tables. The outdoor seating is a great option if you don’t mind the heat /sun /mosquitoes, but I’m not personally an outdoor eater. The service is always friendly — the servers always seem busy and not far away if you need something. In terms of food, the menu is relatively simple but there’s something for everyone. We pretty much always get the same thing because it’s the reason we come here. The hushpuppies are so good that we always get these as an appetizer, even though most of the plates come with 1 or 2. I love the fried seafood platter with their semi-sweet and savory tartar sauce, and my wife gets the crab legs, seafood casserole, or seafood pasta. The portion size of the $ 21 fried seafood platter are good — 1 sizeable deviled crab, shrimp, oysters, and scallops with 2 sides. The kids enjoy this restaurant too because of the grilled cheese and hushpuppies. And the sweet tea is fantastic, not rotting your teeth but quite delicious after a day on the beach. I only have 2 very very minor suggestions on how they could improve. I think they’d do a great job with Fried Green Tomatoes with pimiento cheese, and it would totally fit their style. I also think they have decent sides but would love to see a little more effort here — maybe sweet potato fries or sweet potato casserole — again would fit in very well with the menu here.

The service was great. Everyone was nice and hospitable. Our entire big family went and though a smaller place we were accommodated(with separate tables). Their shirts are for sale. Which was kind of a big deal for us since my mothers maiden name is Sullivan. Hence why we chose the place. The salmon and crab legs and burger was great. However 2 of our group members got the Sullivan’s classic 7 layer PASTA and sent it back. It’s a huge disaster! also the crab dip was ordered and was a thumbs down too. Was more like tuna pretending to be crab dip.

I highly recommend calling ahead to reserve a table otherwise a wait is guaranteed, even on a Tuesday night. Sullivan’s is a great spot for a casual dinner with great food. Looks small from outside but when you enter it has a nook which looks like a little bar or payment counter & lots of Sullivan’s T-Shirts for sale. Then going through to restaurant area it opens up into quite a large area with various size tables. It has an «old» smell as you enter. You get the feeling that this establishment has been around a long time. I liked it here. It’s a family owned mom & pop eatery with a great selection of seafood mainly. I liked the fact that it had grilled, fried, raw & baked seafood. So what ever you fancy they have. They have a limited amount of meat, maybe a couple of steaks & a few burger selections. The fish was fresh, tasty & did the job. Definitely worth a trip, especially if you want good food but want stay casual. Highly recommended

Amazing. She crab soup was great. Service was very helpful and great knowledge of the island. Family owned and there were generations there on Sunday walking around and very friendly. Local beers available and easy parking.

Group of 6 Ladies. Immediate seating when all other restaurants in area had up to a 2 hr wait. Sullivan’s is located about ¼ mile beyond several trendy Bars/restaurants. Had to drive past them to get to this fantastic seafood restaurant. Best find of our trip! Excellent choices, service was prompt, and the meals were delicious! Highly recommend! Owner(Mrs.) came by and we had a lovely conversation. They feel the overpowering effect of the trendy bars. Please support this restaurant. You will not be disappointed! Yes, they offer great selection of alcohol!

Excellent seafood, nice family owned restaurant. Called ahead and were seated within 10 minutes, fine by me! Dining area is very family friendly, think of a little louder space and dimly light. Could have had nicer interiors, but only if you care about aesthetics. Unfortunately we were seated where we could see into the bathroom when the door swung open. Left little to be discovered! Had the crab stuffed mushrooms(5/5, very creamy and buttery), the original seafood pasta dish(5/5, also a heart attack waiting to happen but WORTHIT), and the scampi 4⁄5 — my shrimp were way over cooked). The sides, with the exception of the fried okra, were canned and not good. Would definitely return for the expansive seafood dinner list and excellently cooked main dishes. Come expecting a family crowd! Not my first choice for date night or ladies night but very good when we went.

My husband and I came here with our dog. We were not sure if our dog could accompany us, but the owner greeted us outside warmly. She gave our dog a water bowl as we set up at an outside table. The server was attentive and kind. The brunch, mimosa, and Bloody Mary were delicious! The hospitality at Sullivan’s was an A+! We were so glad we came by and experienced this southern gem.

If you’re looking for wonderful local seafood, try Sullivan’s. Their fried oysters taste like they were harvested locally, though I admit I didn’t ask. The fried shrimp are terrific, and I love the flounder. Add some sides of collards and red rice, and you’ve got Southern heaven.

Horrible food. Fried oysters were mushy, crab dip came with side of individually wrapped saltines as dippers.

No wait at 5:45 on a Wednesday. Wow-had crab cakes, collards and grits. Wife had seafood casserole, fried okra and grits. We topped the meal off with the wonderful key lime pie and a cup of coffee. One of the best meals we’ve had since we arrived 3 days ago. Great service with a smile!

Fantastic fried shrimp and great steak. The red rice and fried okra were also very good. Nice hush puppies, good portions, good side salad as a side choice, and tasty Arnold Palmer with a kick. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff.

The Seafood Casserole was flavorful, but would like to see it have more crab content. The seafood tasted fresh, and it is in a creamy base, topped with crumbs. It is served piping hot, so you may need to ask for another saucer to dish some out to cool before eating. The Mac and Cheese is seriously delicious, and the okra was fresh, and appeared to be hand breaded. The only downfall was the chocolate cake dessert. Yes, it was free, but it was very dry. The décor is quaint and beachy, with booths and tables and wooden walls. There is a tiny outdoor seating area, and a tiny indoor waiting area.

All food we had no flavor. It seemed not to be seasoned at all. Very bland. The crab spread was too cheesy. The stuffed flounder had nothing in stuffing. The fish was not tasty. My brother did not eat all it. Fried seafood platter was soaking in grease. Nothing stimulated our taste buds. Service was good and quick. Crab legs were only thing acceptable.

My mom loves the crab legs at this restaurant, but I tried the broiled flounder and was less than satisfied. It was very blabs abs reminded me more of farmed tilapia than local flounder. Someone at our table order the flounder fried, which also left much to be desired but a little better than my main dish. I recommend ordering fried food in order to not receive a completely bland main dish. Obviously not he best place for a healthy diet and very basic.

This place is great! We stopped by on a late Sunday afternoon to wait out the beach traffic heading back in town. We were promptly seated outside and ordered a few beers with the cold crab dip. The dip was served chilled with crackers — it was good. Tasted very fresh and was a nice quick snack for our late afternoon. I look forward to trying this place for dinner– the inside is very homey and comfortable, seems like a nice family restaurant!

Our first meal after arriving in Mt Pleasant. I ordered the She crab soup and a fried combo of flounder and oysters. The soup was rich and creamy with just a hint of a spice to it. The fried food is the house specialty and it truly was. Excellent batter. Just a dash of vinegar on the flounder and hot sauce on the oysters and they were good to go. The service was extraordinary. The server spent lots of time answering questions and making recommendations. We ended up being the last customers past closing time and they never once made us feel rushed, but instead continued their conversation with us. Definitely a wonderful start to our weekend.
