The pozole is the best and most complete ever. Takes its place with foh as a one-​dish meal. Also the people are lovely.

The staff is really friendly and food is delicious. if you like beef, chicken, pork and sea food try the plate cielo mar y tierra you can’t go wrong. On Sunday’s their is live mariachi.

I love their tacos and especially their aguachiles!!! Best sea food spot by my house, their micheladas are big, tasty and spicy we celebrate many birthdays here

Every dish I’ve tried has satisfied me. They have good food at a real good price. Love there tacos and burritos. When i eat there i always get one of there real good micheladas. Enjoy

Food was mediocre… Went in because I was craving a mojarra frita and when my food arrived I noticed my sides Wich was rice and French fries… I could count the French fries with one Hand. I believe it was 5 of them. When I told the waitress of why I only got 5 French fries she replied with «that’s the serving» … A bag of potatoes cost 2 dollars a bag .ur going to tell me your going to mind giving your paying costumer extra fries. Well there goes your tip! A good waitress would have gotten me some more with no hesitation. Very disappointed and to add they weren’t even cooked… Don’t think I’ll be returning rather go to salsa and beer or tacos El gordo for mojarra…

Order 4 piece chicken taquitos, comes with salad, rice & beans. Taquitos crispy but a little dry and not too much chicken but it’s was good. Rice & salad was ok, and I m not a bean person. Also comes with home made salsa and chips… tasty. Overall 3.5, less .5 bc no menu on line/​print. Would want to try the shrimp items next time.

This place has amazingly gone from bad to worse. What was once a staple for family get together every Sunday is now a dreaded encounter. I’d rather go get a major dental procedure done. The prices have skyrocketed for no apparent reason and no difference in actual food or service. My once favorite guaraches where at a great $ 5 but now are close to $ 7 and are smaller and have less meat of choice. Also they claim to sell Fountain Drinks for $ 1.75 with free refills but hey guess what at first they said the soda machine doesn’t work and now they don’t even have one so why offer them? Oh yes so that as soon as you say you want a coke they up sale you a mexican coke for $ 2.75. My advice if your are force to go there is to go to the liquor store next door and buy your own drinks there and bring them in save yourself lots of $$$. The only thing worth mentioning is the service they waitresses are all very nice and hospitable but thanx to the greedy management this place is now a certified dump.

Sometimes I get burned by intrusting Unilocal’s reviews but this time I came here blind, just happened to be driving by, was hungry and the Wife and I stopped in, the only thing I agree with most of the other reviews is the SERVICE IS SLOW…
The Wife ordered some Camarones/​Shrimp and I ordered Birria, both were very disappointing, I dropped about $ 33 and didn’t even finish my food #NotHappy

Camarones rellenos con queso envueltos en tocino y fritos for you Gabachos that’s Shrimp stuffed with cheese wrapped in bacon and fried… when done right this is a Party in your mouth!, this was an Epic Fail. OVERCOOKED SHRIMP and UNDERCOOKED FRENCH FRIES!!!
First off their was NO CHEESE wrapped in the shrimp, the bacon was nice and crisp
but the shrimp were overcooked and a bit rubbery, Yes they were edible but an epic fail of what should have been a killer dish.
And what else can I say if you can’t take a Frozen French Fry and cook it properly, look how lite it is

Birria de Chivo ($ 10.50)
Quite a bit of fat on that meat! I love a good bowl of Birria — Chivo/​Goat, Red/​Beef whatever! Birria should be judged on TWO things, Caldo/​Consommé/​Broth and Meat ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ IMO

The meat Chivo/​Goat was very fatty, it so had bones… some do some don’t, what meat it did have after you cleaned it up was OK.
The Caldo, with all the fat on the meat I was surprised the caldo was clean, many times when the meat is like this you’ll find a lot of fat floating on top the caldo, but my problem with this caldo was it had NO flavor! a good caldo/​broth is 50% of what makes a good Birria… this Failed, it was like Reddish/​Brown WATER.
I can’t remember the last time I left food on the plate or bowl and left still hungry! and pissed off! this was some of the worst birria I’ve ever had! 1-​Star

The food at El Compadre is delicious especially the fish and the milanesa steak. However, service is very slow, even when the restaurant is not busy. The servers take their time taking and delivering your order. As far as drink refills… you have to constantly ask and call them over to your table.
Décor and restaurant atmosphere is okay. The place looks outdated and needs an update and in addition to getting a good cleaning.

The foods not bad but the service is the worst. Even when it’s not busy. This lady sat us at a table with no silverware or place mats. Then she placed her tray on our table while she took someone else’s order.

It used to be good here but something changed. I see it on the food and prices went up the roof ! There food used to be amazing. Maybe its under new management or something

Mmmmm burritos! Carne asada, yes please! It was a quiet Monday afternoon when my uncle and I decided to go. Their wasn’t much people around and I noticed a lot of variety on their menu especially with seafood that I would like to try but, I was hesitant… something about wanting seafood when I’m near the beach lol not 45 mins from the beach. We to go ordered posole, Carne asada burrito, chicken burrito, shrimp burrito and 2 tacos. Total was about $ 35 and I enjoyed the burrito so much I ate it all on one sitting :/​FATTY. I was full for days! Will come back and try the seafood. Or the menudo on the weekend. :)

My family and I have traded our favorite restaurants for this one! It’s is delicious! The Taste is rich. They don’t make you wait for your drink nor the food they bring everything right away and they are very friendly. Molcajetes are the best! As well as their birria and their handmade tortillas. They serve you a good portion of food! So if you’re reading reviews to see if you should go, stop what you’re doing and go over there. You won’t be disappointed. Specially coming from my mom that is very picky! She’s in love with this place !

The other review on this place doesn’t do it justice. Please do not base it on one review and go try this place out because it is an awesome hole-​in-​the-​wall! an unlikely find in this part of the San Fernando Valley!
I come here as often as I can because it’s so close to my house and also because the food here is great. They serve the usual Mexican dishes: tacos, burritos, menudo, but what I love the most is the shrimp cocktail!!! sooo good.
They also make handmade tortillas, which is a plus.
There is also mariachi on Sundays I think.
The vibe is nice, so is the atmosphere. Fast & good service.
Overall, a great find! Go try it yourself!

This is by far the best Mexican food in the valley. I have to disagree with the the guy who gave this place a 1 star. I come here as often as I can because I love the food. Its always fresh and Delicious as shown in the picture. I believe the pic is of the Tacos Governadores which happens to be my favorite. I also love the ostiones ala Rockefeller and the caldo de pollo there are too many dishes I like from this place to list them all but pretty much everything is good here if you like true Mexican food. Don’t let the last comment fool you it hold no merits as far as I’m concerned. I’ve been coming to this place since the new owners took over and it has only gotten better.

I gave it a one star today… Although it really deserved none. I usually like this place. Decent food for a good price. (BOMB handmade tortillas) BUT today it all changed. The food was horrendous and the service was less than what I would receive on a cotton plantation in the 1800s. The food looked old, the rice smelled funky, the beans were without flavor and the best part of my tacos was the tortillas. All of my friends were highly disappointed with their meals. The chicken flautas tasted like pork (that should’ve been an indicator of things to come) and so did my friend’s mojarra. After tonight I don’t see myself coming back and that’s sad because I really liked this place before. Never again, it will take a lot for me to give El Compadre another chance. I feel like I saw a friend I haven’t hung out with in a long time and realized they only changed for the worse.
