As most people have stated before… The food and coffee drinks are good. The service needs a bit of work, one thing that struck me as odd… We ordered a Caesar salad, we got it with the dressing on the side, we had to mix it ourselves, which is less than ideal because it doesn’t mix well on a flat plate with fork and knife. I don’t understand what the logic behind that was. Also, I asked for a matcha latte, the barista said«we only have a matcha cappuccino». If you can make a cappuccino you can make a latte, any barista worth anything knows this so I was disappointed. I got the cappuccino but really wanted less foam more milk… aka latte.

Went here for brunch, I got a #2 sandwich. This place was tasty. I would defiantly go back. Calm, chill, coffee shop attitude you can talk for as long as you want and you don’t ever get kicked out.

The only bad thing I can say about this place is they’re never open by the time I want to order.(Post-9:30PM) Literally, everything, is delicious. Milkshakes and chicken sandwich especially. Favorite place in Sunnyside!

A gem in Sunnyside. Worth a try for brunch lunch and dinner. Absolutely enjoyed our meal! It has a very simple décor but what matters is the quality and freshness of the food.

The bacon cheeseburger was very good, surprised how thick the patty was. Fries were okay at best, no crunch at all. Should’ve been double fried than whatever is currently being done.

Food is very very good… Nice simple menu with a lot of healthy options, that’s what the one star is for: the service absolutely sucks and the owner is a complete ass! Will not go back after the way we were treated today. Pity because the food really is great. I am going to tell everyone about the service. Especially from the owner!

This place is billed as a bakery but it’s mostly known for their breakfast/brunch menu. I definitely agree with other reviews that say there is still work to be done on this little gem. I feel like they just hired all introverts that want to avoid all interactions with people and hastily put together their«brand image» by what items were in stock at the time of their Ikea shopping spree. Look, the most important thing is that their food is actually really good but I so desperately want to hold them by their hand and just re-do the whole thing. White Cake Bakery is walking up a steep hill I just hope they have the endurance and smarts to improve as they go along. I’m rootin’ for ya little guy!

One of my favorite places in the neighborhood. I have ordered delivery and have eaten in the restaurant. Both experiences have been great. As for the food, the quinoa salad is amazing and filling. It comes with yummy orange lemon dressing. I’ve also tried the fried chicken sandwich, breakfast sandwich and chorizo and they haven’t disappointed. My boyfriend had the Caesar Salad with large chunks chicken and oh boy that chicken was perfectly cooked(very juicy). The presentation is always lovely but most importantly, their amazing flavors always satisfy my hunger. I can’t wait to explore the rest of the menu.

One of the best breakfasts menus ever. Delicious breakfast sandwiches or great sweet pancakes and French toast. If you’d like a platter it’ll work too! People move a bit slow so don’t expect to go in and out quickly but sit and enjoy the great tea selection or the green tea latte. I recommend breakfast sandwich #5 or the pancakes!

A hidden gem for breakfast. We were a little skeptical at first since it looks like a typical bakery, but their food here is amazing and very fairly priced!

Lately delivery service has been much better, and the food is still the same great quality as before. Upgrading my rating.

The food is great, but the staff is inept. I shouldn’t have to wait 30 minutes for a salad takeout order, that is ridiculous. Service can make or break a place, in this case it definitely breaks it.

The food is great. IFYOUGETIT! I waited 25 minutes today(restaurant not that crowded). After 20 minutes the waiter asks me what I ordered. I told him again, and he went into the kitchen and came back and said it will be out in 1 minute. 5 minutes later I left. Went to Aubergine(Skillman &50th St). Ordered my food and got it in less than 5 minutes. I wish the owners would read these reviews and fix the problem. I really like their food but this seems to be a major deterrent.

I really wanted to like this place — the food was solid but unfortunately, the service is subpar. I don’t get it given how small the café is, the number of staff seemed appropriate, but it’s like they’re in the twilight zone. We came in and waited 5 minutes before seating ourselves as it seemed no one acknowledged our arrival. Ten minutes later, I was ready to walk over and get menus myself when somebody finally seemed to notice that there was now an occupied table. I’ll skip through the actual meal itself since the overall experience was diminished by the service or lack thereof. but needless to say, I had to take my bill over to the cashier myself.(I know, oh the horrors.) You know it’s bad when your neighbors let it slide to you that the food’s great but the service really sucks the moment a waiter finally comes over…

Waited over 40 minutes for a smoked salmon sandwich and cooked vegetables while my girlfriend ordered the ricotta blueberry pancakes. After 40 minutes of waiting for our food, the waiter came over and said that they had run out of the ricotta pancakes. My response was, it took 40 minutes for you just to find that out? Five minutes later my sandwich finally came out and he had a stack of pancakes in his hand. We were confused and said, are those ricotta pancakes? I thought you had run out. He responded no, I said we ran out of the sauce so this is what you ordered. Once we tried the pancakes we realized they were just regular pancakes. The waiter never apologized or didn’t mention anything at all about bringing regular pancakes. At least he was smart enough to not charge us. The food isn’t bad but they obviously need a stronger management team that knows how to properly train its staff to provide a great customer service experience, provide assistance to the kitchen to ensure that breakfast food doesn’t take over 40 minutes to come out especially when you only have a couple to-go orders and 10 tables maximum. So to the owner of this place, take it from someone who is in the restaurant industry — train your staff and support your kitchen! We weren’t the only ones who waited 40 minutes for food, the table of 4 next to us had to ask about their food as well. Needless to say we won’t be coming back based on the experience and not the food.

To be honest, I don’t like the clean décor here(I’m into rustic cafes with wood-paneled/exposed brick walls) and it almost deterred me from entering, but I was hungry, so I stepped in. Boy, am I glad I did! I ordered breakfast sandwich #6(see picture) and my first bite into it was an explosion of untapped flavor combination. I can’t wait to try the other items on the menu. I also had a delicious cup of herbal tea. I almost went for one of the pastries(which looked unconventionally delicious), but wouldn’t have been able to fit it into my full stomach. Next time! The place was empty on a Wednesday at 10:30am, so I was glad for the opportunity for some quiet time, but the music was pretty loud and the annoying commercials deterred me from really enjoying myself. Overall, the food was 5 stars, the décor and atmosphere were 3 stars, and the pricing was 4 stars. I will be back, but only because the food was that damn good.

I’m really stoked on this place. I like how it’s setup like a coffee house and bakery but serves up really awesome food on top of that. White Cake Bakery is the kind of place where I could pick anything off the menu and be satisfied. It’s a really solid menu(which makes it a bit tough to decide). I tried the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and the Fried Chicken Sandwich. The pancakes were very good and had fresh strawberries and whip cream on top(how bad could that ever be?). I could’ve done without the lemon topping but overall it was good. The Fried Chicken Sandwich was really really awesome. The whole sandwich was just put together really well. Anything with chipotle in it usually catches my attention. Again, for the ambiance and convenience of this place, it’s a real value. With everything around $ 10 or less and lots of creative menu options to choose from I would definitely try this place again and maybe even make it a regular spot.

Very neat small café in Sunnyside,my first time here. Love the music, classic and quite. love the tables, wooden and white wall, clean. The food is great, little oil, healthy. However, the staff is a little slow reaction, lol. They have todays special posted on the entrance, juice and lemon iced tea. Will definitely come again!

This place is a great brunch spot! The space is a little small, but the staff is friendly and the prices here are very affordable for such great quality food and generous portions. For the brunch dishes, I would recommend the oatmeal with brown sugar and apples. Very yummy. I also had the quinoa and scrambled eggs from here. It tasted really good, but it was too garlicky for my taste. They also have a great assortment of teas and desserts here, so you can’t go wrong by stopping here on an early Sunday afternoon. Definitely coming back here soon!

I would like to give this bakery 3.5 stars but since I’m not allowed I would give them the 4 since 3 would be too little. Is not that what I had was bad but I felt they lacked variety in their pastries. A bakery should have a wide variety of cakes, cookies and stuff. After having lunch we wanted something sweet and came here. I have passed many times by this bakery but have never had the chance to actually come in. My friend ordered a coffee which he claimed it was good but nothing special. I went with the almond croissant which was delicious and very fresh. Also I thought the price was great(2.75) since a lot of other bakeries charge a lot more. I got to taste the brownie my friend ordered and it was too rich and dense for my liking. I would like to come back and try their lunch food since the salads and sandwiches looked really good.
