Huge fan of the Doggy Day Camp and Hotel. I wanted to give this location 3 stars because I thought it was a happy medium as the Grooming Salon is POOP. Such POOP. BUT I just love the staff at the Day Camp. They are so nice. They treat my dog like an angel. He loves going to camp. He comes home afterwards tired from a great day. They always tell me how he did, who he played with, and gush over how sweet he is. They know his personality — they care. Even when we move farther south I will be driving to this location for camp on the way to work.
Now the salon. POOP. I do not even think they brush your dog. I paid for the extra brushing and the Furminator. I was early to pick him up so I sat on the bench outside and watched them. They brushed him — a swipe here, a swipe there. The Furminator was a joke. They went over him once. I have a Furminator, but I was lazy that day. You cannot tell me for an extra $ 10 — $ 20 that once over is worth that price All in all they brushed him for 5 MINUTES. A joke. Oh and his nails were supposed to be grinded. Doubtful.
Go for the Camp — DO NOT GO FOR THE SALON. JUST POOP.

We have been using this PetSmart location since moving to S. Austin nearly two years ago. Their grooming department isn’t the best, but I have certainly seen much worse at other PS locations. My concern is with regard to one of their groomers named Devin. One day while waiting for my dog to get her nails clipped, I observed her smacking the snout of a scared little poodle, all the while seemingly oblivious to the line of customers observing her less than desirable behavior. Since all of our dogs have vet records on file there, and because we can request certain groomers, we continued having our pets groomed there while being careful to request that Devin NOT be allowed to groom any of our dogs.
We dropped our two small dogs off Monday morning to be groomed (by Jessica, I believe) and after picking them up and bringing them home, we noticed they were both behaving very strangely. I dug through my bag to find the PS «report card» and saw right away that Devin was listed as one of the groomers. She had even written a note about our smaller poodle (5lbs soaking wet) being squirmy while having her legs trimmed. Needless to say, I was furious!
Two days later and the dogs won’t let us out of their sight. They haven’t stopped shaking and seem almost depressed. It is heart breaking to watch.
We won’t be back to the Sunset Valley PetSmart location. Ever.

I go to the groomers here because it’s convenient … But it’s kind of surprising how much hair is all over the floors each time I go. Also I have a pomchi and didn’t realize for a «sanitary cleanup» you pay $ 6 on top of nail trims for a non-​groomer to literally just shave your dog’s butthole and «dog bits» only. Pom butt hair grows much faster than the rest of the body and I was told after the appointment and calling ahead to ask that I’d have to make and pay for a separate grooming appointment if I wanted to take off enough so his poop wouldn’t get stuck in the hair. It’s more than a little disappointing to have to go home and do the work myself after specifying on the phone AND in person that I wanted his butt shaved. What’s another clump of hair on that floor anyways if I’m paying?

We have fleas!!! All three cats and one dog. We came in to get treatments and were a little overwhelmed with all the options. John was so sweet and helpful when he realized how lost I seemed. He helped walk me through the best options that would be easy and effective. They didn’t have one of the products but the South Park Meadow location did, so, he discounted the one product we got for the inconvenience of having to drive to another location. He totally didn’t have to do that and I wanted to share with everyone how generous and helpful they are here. It’s in my neighborhood but I’d go out of my way to visit this one if I ever move!

Yes, a Pet Place that also has rescue animals. We stop here now and again to pick up supplies for the Twins, but also to interact with some of the rescue animals and even the birds (I draw the line at spiders though). One staff member named Cindy, has been there for years and always makes us smile and is our go to person for recommendations. She has never steered us wrong. They have a vet and a grooming place at the back, which we have not used. Note: one thing that is great fun is to be one aisle over from someone who has a small rat dog, and squeeze a squeak toy a bunch of times. The dog wants to go to the sound and those little dogs can really drag their owners. The trick is to put the toy up fast and stand there innocently looking at collars and such. :-)

We came to Pet Smart days before receiving our 8 week old Yorkie/​Pommie/​Poo. John the manager was sooooo helpful. Everything he suggested we buy was spot on! Today I returned a soft carrier for a hard one and John assembled the whole thing for me so I could get our pup home. I loved the coupons in the Puppy handbook and brought our pooch for his first bath and loved the report card after. I can’t say enough good things about this shop! And I’m a New Yorker. You know how no bullshit we can be!

I took my dog for a dental cleaning and was aware that he might need 2 teeth extracted. I dropped him off at 8:30am and never received a call to update me on his status, recommendations, and pick up time. I called the office at 4pm and was told that the procedure went well and we was ready to be picked up. I picked him up right before 6pm and was then told that he needed 2 extractions and the vet had tried to call me and left me 2 voicemails. The staff misread my phone number and left voicemails on a wrong number, so I never received a call that he needed the extractions. My phone number is saved in the Banfield client information database, so this number could have easily been obtained, especially considering that I received multiple phone call reminders about the appointment at my correct phone number. I was prepared to have the extractions completed, however, this was not done since the Banfield staff called the wrong number during his appointment. I was then told that I would have to bring My dog back in 1 – 2 months after the anesthesia is out of his system, and they would have to do the extractions at a later time. He had a canine with damaged pulp and a fractured molar, so these two teeth should have been taken care of during the time of his scheduled appointment. I was also told that I would have to pay the $ 189 dental cleaning fee since the cleaning was «used up» during the failed appointment. I have FIVE pets on a Banfield wellness plan and this incident seriously makes me question my loyalty to this company for my pet’s needs. This could have absolutely been prevented had common sense been used and my correct phone number been called. I am highly disappointed and frustrated that now my dog has to wait in pain for the procedure to happen, and he has to be subjected to the risks of being anesthetized again, needlessly.
I’ve used Banfield for a few years and have always been pleased and recommended them to friends. This is their first fuck up, and it’s a pretty big one.

The store might be ok when the pet food brand and flavor you want is in stock and you don’t have to suffer the antics of a bewildered, under-​trained staff. It seems clean and well-​lit, with plenty of parking, and convenient to the south end of town.
However, today I dropped by to pick up a bag of Science Diet dry cat food, which was in stock, then decided not to purchase after encountering gratuitous impertinence at the checkout counter. In fairness the clerk may have been new or inexperienced. In the past they’ve mostly been at least bearable.
Months ago, after enough of not being able to buy a major brand there consistently, and watching the confused faces of two clerks who (a) took turns awkwardly going back and forth to check stock, (b) seemed utterly puzzled that Wellness turkey & salmon also comes in 12.5 oz. cans, and then © suggested special ordering, I gave up.
Even though I’d rather buy local, it became apparent that Amazon, while arguably less earth friendly, would be a better solution. I recycle the cardboard and hope the fuel I don’t use offsets the home delivery somewhat. Because not going to this unusually frustrating store for the last few months has been a pleasure, and stopping there today was a foolish mistake.

Twice I’ve called to schedule an appointment for grooming and it seems to be the most annoying thing you can do to this business. I usually drop 75 – 100 $ on the dog each time because we get the extras. I won’t be going back. Last time I got fed up and hung up after mentioning twice that it seemed like I was annoying the girl on the phone. Didn’t seem to phase her. Seems to be a recurring thing here. I’ll have to find another place.

So if you actually want to get what you pay for I would not go for a dog groom here.
When dropping off our puppy we were excited for her to get her first hair cut, when picking her up she looked the exact same way as when we had dropped her off.
My husband paid 34 dollars for a nail clip which seemed like the only thing they actually did.
He asked to speak to a manager and the manager told him that their store policy was no refund on haircuts, which our dog DID NOT get.
They also claimed to have cleaned her ears out which also did not happen
We were told she didn’t receive a haircut because she was moving too much, took her to a different pet groomer and they had no issue with her what so ever, or maybe they actually knew how to do their job.

I bring my 2 dogs here at least 4 times a week for thier pet hotel /​day camp. While i am at work. My dogs love it they get to play and interact with other dogs. The staff is nice and courteous. The price is reasonable and they are open till 9pm in case i get caught in traffic or have to stay late at work. They are almost the only day camp in austin thats open past 7.

Walked in today to have a look at the fish section. Pretty much all the fish were infested with ICK. Not sure what is going on with the aquariums but i think they are using the same net and re-​infecting all their fish. Also many of the tanks had multiple dead fish in them. I’ve honestly never seen such a bad infestation of the ICK fish disease. I alerted the aquarist there and he started removing some fish from one tank. I think they need more help in that department as their fish aren’t looking so good. :(

Tonight’s visit was EXCEPTIONAL! I went in looking for a prescription therapeutic diet, pretty specific: Royal canin, low calorie urinary formula. They didn’t appear to have any on the floor, I asked for Erin’s help (I think that was her name, pretty red head, dressed with cat makeup) and she went to look in back. A few minutes passed and she came back out, saying that they were out of the food. I had just sat in rush hour traffic and wasn’t looking forward to searching at Slaughter Lane… but I didn’t have to! Erin said that she would sell me 3 little bags for the price of the 1 huge bag. How awesome! The huge bag is definitely the deal, she told me that since they didn’t have it, they would take care of me. Such service! Totally WOW’D! I’ll only come to this location!

I don’t usually write reviews. I just have to so everyone will know about Sara at the Brodie location. She grooms both of my dogs and does a great job. But here is the real reason; Bax my little old man dog is awful about getting groomed. Sara still does a great job and keeps her cool at the same time.
My dogs look great and I can relax knowing sara will take great care of them. Thank You Sara.

I swung by here while window shopping this past weekend and they had an adoption event. The animals were very loving and they had rescuers there to answer any question one might have had about the animals. The offer a variety of different foods for basically animal house animal you can imagine. They also offer grooming services with windows so you can see exactly how the animals are being treated. They had a non-​clumping 40 pound bag of cat litter for 10 bucks! Pet’s Mart actually has an adoption center itself as well. The one in this particular store housed cats, but sadly there was no one available to let me in to play with them. Gigantic joint with lots of product!

My dog visited this location every three weeks or so for a nail trim and grind. The groomers don’t require an appointment for the nail trim and grind, which means I usually brought the pup along when I had to pick up food. The groomers were great and with her and understood when she had accidents due to excitement. I have nothing but great things to say about the groomers.
The only downside of this location is that it can get very busy, especially on weekends. My dog is really skittish and terrified of larger dogs. If your dog has some anxiety issues, it’s probably best to bring them on a slower day.

Grooming here is absolutely terrible! I booked 2 appointments online for grooming. After I drove all the way to the store with my 2 dogs, the lady at the check in counter tells me they are unable to groom my dogs. She said there is a problem with the online appointment scheduler. It keeps booking dogs when there aren’t spots available. She just shrugged it off and said it’s a corporate problem.
So I wasted an hour of my Sunday afternoon because their booking system is broken. Absolutely awful! Do not go here.
Their check in line was ridiculous too. It took more than 10 minutes for the people in front of me to get checked in for their appointment. I’ve never seen anything like this place. It’s a disaster.

The staff here was extra friendly and helpful which is the main reason I am writing this review.
An employee who CLEARLY was about to clock out on break or to go home, noticed me lost. She didn’t just point me in the right direction, she took the time to walk with me and my puppy to the correct spot and make sure that I found exactly what I needed.
I know that’s «her job,» but the fact that she took extra time to help me find what I needed –when on break/​going home– speaks highly about the quality retail employees they have at this store. (This is coming from a retail employee.)
That kind of customer service is easy to look over, but definitely makes a difference to the fact that I want to go back to PetSmart vs the Petco that is closer to me.
Also there was a technical issue when I was checking out, but the cashier was calm and collected through the transaction.
A groomer told me how they saw my puppy in the store and hoped they would get to groom him because he’s so cute, when I was leaving. This made me happy and I will probably get Dante groomed here soon!

I have used this PetSmart for their Doggie Hotel, Benafield Pet Hospital, and Grooming Salon. I have to say that I loved the staff at the Doggie Hotel and how they were so attentive with my dog Bear. I am also very pleased with the Benafield Pet Hospital, they have been great with Bear and very helpful with any questions I may have. The place I am most pleased with is the Grooming Salon at this location. I love Bear’s groomer Orlando he is amazing. He is very friendly with Bear and does an excellent job on his hair and nails.
