You would never think that such an authentic feeling Japanese restaurant would exist in Kendall, but here it is! I was definitely impressed by the whole dinner experience. It’s super cozy inside and the upstairs section(huge btw) is all floor seating(like the Japanese do!). The sushi is fantastic, very fresh and prepared with care. All the rolls I had were delicious so I’m basically thinking you can do no wrong here. I almost forgot I was in Miami until I looked around and saw the packed house of Americans sitting inside. For any sushi lover, this is the place to be, and the prices are very affordable for the quality you get. Service was great, took a while to get the food but understandable because of the packed house. It may be wise to make a reservation on a weekend night.

I love love love this place. I’ve been going here since I first moved to this side of town. Super cozy. Take out takes forever though but it’s well worth it. My boyfriend and I frequent here often and his favorite is the Thai donuts :) and mine is the spicy crunchy dragon roll! This will forever be a favorite of mine :) they don’t open until the evening but they close some what late which is not too bad!

I love this place! Every time I go I always enjoy myself. This last time I went to meet up with an old friend and catch up. Shibui has two story seating. The downstairs offers regular table seating, while upstairs you get to go the more authentic route and sit on the floor. For tall folks that might not be as comfortable, but hey live a little, it’s fun! For appetizer, I ordered the Shrimp Shumai, which were perfectly fried(yeah I didn’t go steam) with a sweet sort of glaze. I also had the miso soup, which honestly lacked some salt, but it still was good. As for my roll, I ordered the screaming O, which is a salmon roll topped with a spicy mayo and conch mix. For those who don’t like a lot of mayo, ask for it on the side. The roll was really yummy and the fish was really fresh. For dessert, they offer a wide impressive variety to choose from, but we went for the usual of fried tempura banana with ice cream. The ice cream I could not quite figure out the flavor. It didn’t look like vanilla, but either way it was perfect with the fried banana. The server was a very friendly woman and like always the service was prompt and very accommodating.

Another hidden gem in Kendall! The sushi is delicious and I love the ability to dine Japanese style upstairs. They have a large selection of Sake and the sushi chefs are all authentic and classically trained.

After hearing you could sit on the floor and eat sushi, I was sold! This restaurant had that very homey feel where you could come casual and feel relaxed. It’s a bit outdated, but I didn’t mind so much since that’s how the style should be. I had in mind uncomfortable seating, but it was very comfortable! So that’s a plus! There’s enough leg room for your legs to stretch out when they’re tired of the«Indian style» position. After reviewing other Unilocalers, I found that the Caliente roll was the most popular and I’m very satisfied for choosing it! I’m not a big sushi eater, but I am very picky. This roll is A MUST! I also ordered the crunchy Macarena roll because 6 rolls just isn’t enough lol and I thought it was just as amazing. It’s an inside out roll, something I’ve never tried, and I can’t wait to go back and try some more of their rolls! It seems like everything on the menu was just delicious. I tried my boyfriends stir fried steak with white rice and vegetables and I could say it was better than benihanas. We had the green tea cremé brûlée for dessert and it just melts in your mouth! Overall, great experience with the food and quick friendly service! A lot of reviews here mentioned to have a slow service, but I thought just the opposite. They were very attentive! Thank you!

Nothing better than being able to sit on cushions and eat great Japanese food. Love the feel of this place, and the food was also really good. GREATSUSHI! Downstairs they have regular seating. Upstairs is a more intimate feel where you sit on cushions, and they also have a sushi bar. I tried the beef stir fry and it was absolutely delicious. Also the green tea crème brûlée was soooo on point. The space is a little dingy. Probably could use a little sprucing up. But other than that had a great experience. A must try if you love Japanese food.

Sushi is great but customer service needs to be worked on! They make you feel like you’re bothering them. You show up to the door and its locked until the very minute they open. Seems to me they need to wake up — you’re in Miami and there are many good sushi places. It will be a while before I return.

This place has one of the best sushis in town. I have been here twice and both time I have been satisfied. I had 5 different rolls and they were all amazing. The price is right too.

As a kid, my favorite place to sit was upstairs on the floor because I thought it was the coolest. Not much has changed. Love their cozy upstairs area with low tables and floor cushions. It makes you feel right at home. I visited with a friend for a midweek dinner and it was the perfect place for unwinding. Wine is always in order, and bottles were very reasonably priced. The steamed shrimp gyoza were light and delicious. We ordered a few rolls but the special caliente was my favorite. We could not decline the powdered sugar dusted Thai donuts, which I unnecessarily dunked into leche condensada, because why not.

Saddens me to write this, we used to live less than 2 miles from here. It was a favorite, haven’t been here for probably two years and my goodness they have changed. Everything looks the same, but the food has plummeted in quality, sashimi all had a taste of rot, fishy flavor, too old. Rolls were sloppy and rolled loose, fell apart as you picked up and same lack of freshness and real flavor as sashimi. Udon sukiyaki lacked the typical spices and kick, beef teriyaki had same lack of flavor. This was a change of epic proportions. And the staff same. Waitress spilled kimchi in my water and did nothing about it, forgot one of the rolls we ordered, really disappointing on all aspects. I gave it two stars in the hopes that they can fix these problems quickly and be as great as they once were.

The building is off on the side of the road, hopefully GPS gets you there lol. Once you arrive they have two floors. Downstairs you can eat on a table but if you have a chance, eat upstairs! You sit on your behind and it was fun to do something different from the norm. The food is just like any other sushi place but worth trying. They do get busy and the space seems tight, so call ahead for reservations or accommodations. I would say they are pretty pricey so have your stomachs filled there but your wallet filled before you go.

Got food poisoning from their raw fish! when I ordered, the avocado on the roll was brown ! I’ve been to the restaurant 3 times. Although the place looks and feels authentic, the food quality is 3⁄10

hands down my ultimate favorite sushi restaurant I have ever experienced! make a reservation because this place gets packed. they have downstairs seating and upstairs which I think is a nice change to the normal restaurants. soft shell crab is a must try as well and the sakes they make at the restaurant, they have blue raspberry, sour apple and mango. the green tea crème brûlée is also made there as well which is of course to die for! I also adore the fact that they give you a hot towel for your hands before you eat :) this place is worth the wait and worth every penny.

Some of the best sushi you will find on this side of the city that’s for sure. Typically come here with my partner for a date night –it’s nice yet not excessive on price either. Downstairs is all tables and upstairs is a sit down area-make sure you call ahead for reservations because they do get full quickly. Although the upstairs is meant to be Japanese style seating I find the entire restaurant to be somewhat out of date and for upstairs seating very uncomfortable. I’m constantly hitting my knees when I am sitting upstairs the tables are mid way on your torso so depending who you are you could have more trouble then most simply getting up. My only critique and reason they don’t get a five is because this place needs some Tlc.

I’ve never written a review and this has pushed me to do so. I’ve been coming here for years and never have I had service like this ever. I ordered for pick up with a 45 minute window because they were really busy on Saturday. I got there to pick it up and waited an extra 30 minutes for my food. They couldn’t explain to me what I was waiting for. I ordered udon sukiyaki and an order of the combo with chicken teriyaki/pork katsu/veggie tempura. No one offered any corrections on this… bad on managements part. We got our food and ran out in a hunger just to get home and find udon-less(who knows what noodles they used) and no beef in my «sukiyaki udon soup». The combo meal had soggy tempura from sitting there more than it should. The food was not fresh and overall experience extremely disappointing.

Such a cute spot. Downstairs there is a regular seating area, but go upstairs and you’ll feel all cozy like if it’s your own private place! What’s nicer than sitting on pillows and eating your delicious food on a date?!? Go for the crunchy volcano(spicy) roll and the shumai and dumplings to start they are awesome! Also if you want something refreshing start with the crab kuke– it’s cucumber wrapping crab like Kani-su with a little sauce mm so fresh :) And though the sushi and shrimp/crab shumai are Delicious You don’t want to miss one of the best things this place has to offer = THEBESTFRIEDCHEESECAKEWITHREDBEANICE-CREAM! It’s light crunchy tempura batter with the creamy melty lightly warmed/softened cheesecake and a touch of the contrasting cold not overly sweet unique red bean ice cream omg! To die for! That is where it is at! Eat whatever you want, it’s all good, but save room for this dessert!

This restaurant has no regard for personal health! DONOTGOTHEREIFYOUHAVE A FOODALLERGY! I ordered a meal and I specifically told them that I had an anaphylaxis allergy to fish and they brought me the wrong meal! As if this wasn’t bad enough, we made the manager aware and she did nothing to rectify the situation. No discount on the meal, no apology, nothing! Beware of the terrible service and ANY special requests. So disappointed in the quality of customer service and concern for their customers health.

DONOTGOTOTHISRESTAURANT! WORSTPLACEEVER!!! I went for dinner with my fiancé who is deadly allergic to fin fish, she can eat shrimp and shell fish but not fin fish. We ordered a roll and specifically told them no artificial crab meat(because it’s made from fish) and they brought out the roll and said this has no crab meat… Two bites later my fiancé said her throat was feeling itchy, we checked and sure enough there was artificial crab meat. My fiancé had to take medication for her allergies so she wouldn’t die!!! After the whole situation we talked to the manager akiko and explained what happens and all she could say was sorry. We decided to ask for the check so we could leave and they gave us the check. I was somewhat surprised when there was absolutely no discount or anything reflecting the almost fatal mistake that there restaurant made. I decided to talk to akiko again after getting the check and all she could say was sorry we had a bit of mis communication. I explained the situation again about how my fiancé almost died because of there mistake and she said again sorry. I BEGANYONEREADINGTHIS, PLEASEDONOTGOTOTHISPLACE! They have absolutely no customer service and the manager akiko does not care about anything, especially the fact that one of her customers almost died in her restaurant.

My boyfriend and I just absolutely LOVE coming to Shibui, the service is great, the atmosphere is relaxing and very homey. The food is sooo great I always have the Miso Soup, the Crunchy Dragon Roll and a Beer, and my boyfriend orders the Beef Teriyaki, it is absolutely great especially sitting down on the floor it really gives you the whole Japanese Vibe. Definitely recommend it.

I have never eaten a bad thing here. They have fantastic sushi. They also have stir fry for the non sushi eaters. Reservation are needed. The place is very small and gets extremely busy. There are too many delicious items to mention but I love the yukki(tuna) and chirasi bowl. As a treat to end your meal try the green tea ice cream.

Good sushi at a good price. I don’t recommend the volcano roll but I do recommend the spicy tuna roll. It’s a mom&pops kind of place which is nice to experience a more laid back atmosphere. Thai donuts are a must!

What can I say. This place is the bomb. Whether it’s the screaming o. Tuna sandwich(not on the menu) or the Macarena roll. It’s all delicious. I went and got a whole bottle of the plum wine. I recommend to those who like sweet cocktails. Also sitting on the floor upstairs is a delight. Oh. Good service too. It’s always packed. Finally be sure to finish your evening with the green tea crème brûlée. You won’t regret it. Such green tea goodness. YUM. THEBESTPART? The prices. For two you can spend $ 40 dollars and leave rolling out of fullness.

Call ahead to sit upstairs in their authentic floor seating area! The sushi here is amazing! The Spicy Octopus salad, Shrimp Shumai, Portobello Mushrooms, Uzuzukuri are all delicious starters. I recommend the spider roll, crunchy/regular dragon roll and the Macarena roll. The Caliente Roll and Spider Roll are delicious and always fresh. NOTE: They do not offer free refills on soda.

I love this place for the simple reason that you have the choose of going upstairs and having dinner sitting at a typical Japanese table. You get to sit on a cushion on the floor. I love the authentic experience it adds to the meal. The sushi is great, fresh and big selection dog both traditional and newer rolls and all the other Japanese favorites. The place is a little older but it’s nice and clean and the staff is friendly and attentive.

Already lost count of the many times I keep coming back to this place. Definitely best sushi in town. I have been to other places but by the time I put that sushi in my mouth I realize the Shibui is the one. Not one sushi I have tried that I have not liked. The ambiance is very nice, we sit on the floor most of the times to make it more Japanese style. The service is too notch… Overall my favorite sushi place in Miami!

We waited about an hour and a half for 2 sushi rolls. We decided to leave the restaurant, when we left we got our sushi to go but even then the sushi was bland, no flavor at all(one was the«Halloween roll»). The o my redeemable feature was the décor on the second floor which is pretty cool and cozy for a date. We were very disappointed in everything else.

Two words: Would repeat. My boo Jesus and his boy Tim, took me and my hubs out here one night. They’d been talking it up for ages, and we’d been putting it off. The food was great, but not phenomenal. However, it makes up for it with mad ambiance. Great service too! You *must* sit upstairs in the traditional Japanese seating *on a weeknight* when it’s slow(er). Prepare to linger with great company. Order beer and appetizers. Wittle away the evening. Sushi combos are gut-rippingly huge, so be prepared. My friend ordered their hot pot and I was super jealous. I’ll be ordering that next time I go. Kunpai!

In my experience, the food here was poor. I don’t take pleasure in panning it – particularly a restaurant that seems to be highly regarded. The kudos for the sushi and various other dishes is baffling to me. I will say the service was very friendly. The hostess went through some effort to seat us and the server was very pleasant(if a bit slow). The look of the place likewise made us hopeful, as it seemed rustic authentic Japanese compared to many places in Miami. All this combines into a place I wanted to like. But I couldn’t. For appetizers: we ordered gyoza. They were fine. Then we ordered the grilled eggplant, and the sauce was fine but it was quite oily. The Kama(grilled salmon collar) was intensely fishy. Entrees: My Spicy Dragon Crunchy Roll was just bad. Assembled with zero subtelty, the flavors were a confused mess and the tempura batter was undercooked; I’ve had the crazy hybrid fusion rolls before, but done better elsewhere. The various Nigiri and Sashimi likewise was subpar. For one thing, they were quite sloppy: the rice immediately comes apart. As for the tuna and other fish: I don’t know if they’ve been frozen or what, but they were not at all firm. The eel was fishy and rubbery, and the scallops were likewise gamey. The Uni was not fresh. Honestly, my wife and I had a hard time finishing. The thing is, I’m not even really evaluating this based on what you could get in Japan, California or whatnot(where it would come off worse). It’s poor even compared to other places in the same general area, like Fujiya, that also go for the ‘traditional Japanese’ approach.
