Wisconsin, I want to hate you because of the Packers and yet love you because of the beer! Thirsty Pagan is quickly becoming my trip across the border into Superior, WI for a growler run. I like the variety of beers they have available. Add in some unique sours and I’m sold! They have one of the most unique flight pads around. A bridge of 8 beers to try and yet, 8 is only scratching the surface of their talent. The brewpub itself is like an old Wisconsin bar. It really fits the style. The food is good. I’ve had their pizza and the pretzels. Both of which gets the family’s seal of approval and makes it worth the trip over the border.

This is hands down the BESTPIZZAINTHETWINPORTS! Try the pizza Dianne. They have a trophy now to prove it! The staff is always friendly. Live music every night. Great brews too(all Brewed here!)! You must check out this home run of a joint here in Superior. It is just over the Blatnik Bridge off Brodway. CHEERS!

It’s a shame that the Thirsty Pagan doesn’t offer some dairy-free options on their menu(compare to Pizza Luce which caters well to vegans) because sometimes us vegans find ourselves in the company of a group of people who want to go out to their favorite pizza joint for a beer and pizza. However, I ordered a Thirsty Pagan veggie pizza with buffalo chickpeas(sans cheese) and it was wonderful. I found the Thirsty Page horribly loud; we had to shout at each-other to be heard. Personally, I wouldn’t bother with the place(I don’t think the beer is all that special, either), but a lot of my friends like to meet there. If you eat dairy, the pizzas look like they’d be fantastic.

With a usual offering of seven house brews, three or four seasonals, two house sours, and a cask brew, this place is a quality brewpub minutes from Duluth. Add to that its knockout deep dish pizza, and you’ve got to find a reason not to come. I love the pizza Diane(pesto, chicken, tomato, spinach, mozzarella & feta) and like to pick one up on my way down the north shore back home to mpls. It’s a great spot to hang out and check out some live music too.

This is one of the best places to eat in the Superior/Duluth area. We are regular customers and have never been disappointed. Everything is excellent here, the pizza, soup, salad, and of course the beer. We bring all of our out of town guests here and they love it. Months later they tell us they are craving this pizza, even people who normally aren’t into pizza! The servers make everyone feel welcome and appreciated. This place is a gem!

They have either the best or second best pizza in the Twin Ports depending on my mood, the service is excellent, the room is quirky and fun, but what puts the Pagan over the top is the awesome beer. Their evolving selection of in house brews are unique, fresh, and always excellently executed. One of the gems of th Twin Ports.

This was our first time at Thirsty Pagan. Great atmosphere and music. We had the TPB Special Pizza, which was excellent. Follow that with a seasonal IPA on tap and you can’t go wrong. Definitely a hidden gem in Superior, WI. We will be back. If you like good beer, a fun, musical atmosphere and good food, you should dine and drink here.

This place is GREAT! Stopped here for dinner with a group of friends while we were in Duluth and were blown away with what we found! We were hoping for a place where we could get some good pizza, a good beer, and listen to some live music… all of them were fulfilled beyond expectations! The pizza was superb! They had the traditional selections, of course, but also some original combinations that were really good! The beer selection was stacked too! Lots of home-brewed selections to chose — from light to dark, everyone can find something to like. Next time traveling to/through Duluth, make a point to cross into WI and find the Pagan! You won’t be disappointed.

I like this restaurant. My friends tell me good things, but there menu is all wheat wheat wheat. I’m experienced with finding options and review based on my experience in being able to have a nice time with friends without my wheat allergy becoming the topic. That the reason for my review… lack of wheat free options. I hear good things, but can’t eat anything other than a salad here.

This place is great. A new definite destination when we are in Duluth. We went on a Friday night about 7:00 and the place was hoping. It had someone playing oldies with his guitar. It was crowded but we found a table. The waitress was great. The vibe was wonderful… Lots of people talking and drinking their really good beer!!! Really good beer. I loved the Saison. We got a pizza. The Tpb combo. It was really, really good sausage and fresh veggies. I hated to leave the place. We will be back.

We went early on a Sunday afternoon. I was walking with a toddler so I missed a sign that indicated we should sit in the bar. When the server came over I apologized and offered to move and she said, «No, that’s okay» and then literally threw menus on our table! We ordered a sausage and pepperoni and also a derailed pizza. They were very good. I like a little more sauce, but overall the food was great. My husband had a short flight sampler of the sour beers and tried one other — Indian Pagan, I believe. He said the all the beer he tried was fantastic. The building itself is fascinating. We thought it was either a creamery or possibly an old bakery. The service was disappointing but the food and the atmosphere was great.

As soon as I learned I needed to visit Duluth for work and realized it was essentially across the street from Wisconsin, I knew I needed to find a great dinner place there. Because after all, I only have five states left to visit and any excuse to get to one of them is much appreciated! The stellar reviews for this place drew me to it despite the fact I don’t really like pizza(yes, I know, I am an alien). I’m a sucker for great beer, so the two canceled each other out. Turns out, I LOVE the pizza here. I had a 10-inch of the special BBQ tofu pizza, which was just oozing with amazing BBQ sauce, delicious cheese and, my favorite thing in life, caramelized onions. My co-workers’ Italian sausage pizza was also excellent! But the beers… oh, the wonderful beers. I literally just was in Portland, Ore., 12 hours before my visit to Thirsty Pagan, and I’ll put TPB’s beers up against any of the fantastic stuff I had in Portland. I tried the Winter Warmer and the Belgian Strong Ale, and both were just… lovely! Live music and a fun atmosphere also helped. :) YAYWISCONSIN!!!

After walking around all day I happened upon this place and had myself a brew or two. I met two of the brewers and we traded brewery stickers then got down to business discussing what there favorite ales were in this establishment. I had a really good IPA followed by a Burnt Black which very good. I had a pizza to go and and it was pretty decent, but not the best I ever had. I would definitely return to Thirsty Pagan next time I’m out this way!

Hipsters make good beer and are good business people. The ruben roll sandwich is delicious. They garbanzo bean appetizer is weird … not recommended. Nice beer. Funky atmos. I think with music at night it will rock. My pizza was okay — good toppings but dough was flat and life less. Strange area of town — like old industry.

Some of the best pizza in Duluth, and fine, fine beer as well. They always have a sour beer going on, which is delicious and rare in these parts! They have live music almost every night, usually a dude or a few with guitars. It’s grand but can be a bit loud for conversation. I’ve always had consistently good food and service dining or drinking here.

Made it here on the way home from the north shore — little bit of side trip. Belly up to the bar — tried a few brews, i just had one and sampled the hubs as I was driving — he got a beer and then ended up with the sampler — what a rainbow of beer! It was really cheap too — all the beers were really good, we got a few extra samples of the specialty beers since we were chatting up the bartender. We ordered a large za to go and had a slice in the bar — It was good, deep dish, good ingredients. Good find, will definitely be back!

My husband is a pizza nut. That might be an understatement actually. Pizza connoisseur? At any rate, he’s been raving about the Thirsty Pagan’s pizza since he had it a few months ago and finally dragged me there to try it myself. It was good. :-)(Darn it, he was right!) The pizza reminded me a lot of Chicago deep dish in that the crust is really nice and buttery and develops this beautiful crust to it. But the pizza is not as deep as deep dish — more like pan pizza from Pizza hut(but only in thickness — sooooo way way better than Pizza Hut). We had sausage, which was a bit on the spicy side. Pizzas are served right in their pans to your table. Super delicious and worth the short trip from Duluth. We also ordered a soft pretzel, which was good and came with a most delicious creamy mustard sauce. That was so good that I actually hung onto it and used it for dipping sauce for my pizza(total props to the guy who cleared our pretzel plate and slid the ramekin off the plate because he KNEW I wanted to keep the mustard!). Beer-wise, they have lots of options and they are all decent. I had the Lawn Chair lager, which was a light lager that was totally tasty and fine. That said, I did feel like their beer list was a bit fill in the blank — like they felt they had to have a lager and an amber and an option on nitro, etc. Kind of like they were trying to have all of the varieties they felt they should. But everything we had was a good rendition of what it was supposed to be. Just not beer that blew my mind, but perfectly acceptable, good-quality brew. Totally dug the décor, which was mostly made up of old beer signs. Awesome. In all, thumbs up. Sure we will be back. Oh, and they have a thing where you get a free pint if you text a number and sign up for their text message promotions. The info is in the little standup thing on the table.

Delicious pizza(order the deep dish); okay beer compared to other breweries in Duluth area. Live music is a plus.
