The Lamp Post Inn

I have gone here a few times. Nothing bad to say, but nothing too exciting either. The food was average, as were their prices. The atmosphere was a little dark for me and I felt like I was eating in a cave. Our waitress was friendly, but still nothing to rave about.

This is the worst service that I have ever had in my whole entire life. We had a server named Maureen and she gave us nothing but attitude since we’ve sat down, mind you she didn’t come to actually take our order until 15 min after we sat down. Then she didn’t come back to take our food order for another 15 min. We were ready to order like 5 min after we sat down. She messed up the order of my vegan friend and put cheese on his pizza when he specifically said no diary and that he’s vegan… so she said it would take 15 min to fix… it was 30min… and she messed up our checks. Like, oh my goodness this is the worst service and the atmosphere is mediocre at best. I think we were treated this way because we’re all about 21 – 23 so she assumes that we are immature, however we have been nothing but kind and understanding, but we’ve been here for a total of two and a half hours and it is absolutely absurd.

Sorry, but ew! The service was great and the stars have nothing to do with service, it is the terrible food.
The seafood was overcooked and low quality frozen in every dish — calamari, the pasta fra diavolo, the seafood platter, etc… My pasta was terrible overcooked to the point of mush. Everyones’ scallops were tougher than chicken to eat.
The only thing that was great was the flavor of the fra diavolo sauce.

I live only down the street. My husband used to go here a lot. Together it is rare that we go… However the food is always nothing short of amazing! The staff here is great. They have made sure every meal I have had was amazing. I was hesitant to use them but undid for my wedding rehearsal dinner. They were outstanding. The owner went above and beyobg to make sure my experience with my wedding party was amazing. I am hesitant to recommend places but they are amazing. 10 stars for food and service!!!

Been there a few times for lunch. Everything was good!

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch. Food was fantastic. The service was courteous. Was here years ago. Definitely much improved. Will be back for sure!

The owner Sal is very friendly and welcomes all his guests. I ordered a steak special which was reasonably priced but I was disappointed in the quality of meat.

Started out good, good soup and apps. that was the end. ordered prime rib, came to the table long after. then it was not only overdone but cold. so I figured I’d move onto the baked potato. It was so cold the butter wouldn’t even melt a little bit. Sent it back and they offered to reheat my already over cooked piece of meat or would I like to take it home??? Neither they can keep it. And we will return. Have been here before and food is not consistently good. Give up.

Have’nt been here in years. I really had a pleasant evening. The service was a bit slow but that was expected being New Year’s Eve. I will definitely go back. Heck I might even become a regular.

Came here randomly with some friends and it was a great find. You would think this place was just a random neighborhood place but there is so much more to this place. When you first walk in it looked like an old Italian restaurant, but as you walk further into the restaurant you realize that this place is much larger and really nice. Their bar area is pretty large and they have high tables where you can eat in the area, plus they also sell bottled alcohol like a full liquor store. I always find that interesting when they do that in NJ. This place also had a band that night and it was really nice because I didn’t expect one.
They have a pretty large food menu and offer really deliciously looking specials. We started with their calamari, it was a pretty big order and it was fried perfectly. We also had their jamming fried shrimp or something like that and it really was not that memorable. We all ordered burgers. I had a standard cheese burger smothered with grilled mushrooms and it was huge and juicy (YUMMY). Their burgers were so big that I could only eat half of it, plus there were so much fries with the order.
For a bar I found their drinks to be very light. So I switched to white wine and they served it in small red wine glasses. I thought they were giving me shots of white wine. They had a lot of great beer’s but I am not a beer drinker. All in all this was really a great place for food and I would definitely go out of my way to go there again.

Sal and his folks run a great business and a welcoming bar/​restaurant. It was at the Lamp Post where I learned the fine art of making pizza boxes, grinding cheese and cleaning a walk in cooler along with other not-​so-​glamorous tasks around the place. While that was a long time and a few renovations ago, I still like to get back there when I can.
The Lamp Post draws mainly locals for their Italian and American food and pizzas which are all good. Surprisingly good wings, burgers, and salads. Always a special too. The bar area can get pretty packed, but never rowdy — even on night with live music that can get loud enough to make a monk scream.

A good place for a burger. The wait staff was very friendly. The pizza was a bit too thin for my tastes. The background music was a bit too loud.
