They got lots of old school penny candy that a nostalgic person would love, and they have many different flavors of ice cream that I would have gotten anywhere else. The price was too high in my opinion for ice cream but the wife and kids wanted some.

As much as I hate to give businesses in small towns a bad review I walked out of here today. The staff weren’t overly friendly, I ordered a milkshake which was OK and would have probably been more enjoyable except for the fact that there were about eight kids running round the place, squeezing behind my chair, knocking into me, singing /screaming or whatever they were trying to do AND to top it off it looked like the staff knew these children and did nothing to stop them from being obnoxious little brats. I understand that this place is a kids dream but come on… don’t knock into my chair every two seconds. I wanted a quiet five minutes and to enjoy my milkshake but I didn’t even get halfway through it. I doubt I’ll be back, if the staff are more preoccupied with the place being run as a day care then fair enough but don’t expect my business until crèche is over.

Really over this place. I went a couple days in a row to try and get some ice cream there and they were closed. The first night was Friday the guy said they closed @ 8. I went back to the Sutter hotel to let them know I would be right back the time was now 7:50pm and the doors were locked. Not pleased at all. The next day I came back same thing again. Ugh. So it is now Sunday I swear the guy told me they were open till 7 but I could be wrong. But still I showed up at 6:30 and I get no ice cream again. So sad.

Stopped here on a hot summer day. We had milkshakes, I has the espresso chip which was very liquid but tasty. The piano player added old time charm. There are a couple of shelves of games for patrons to enjoy. This would be a fun place to hang out and play games with friends on a lazy Sunday afternoon. A very charming place to visit and recommended.

My family and I were visiting Sutter Creek and we decided to have a treat at the Sutter Creek Ice Cream Emporium. First the ice cream was delicious and the portions are large so if you want a lot of ice cream get 2 scoops, otherwise get 1 scoop. The emporium is in a historic building so that alone made the visit worthwhile.

Always friendly and always fun, the Emporium is an old fashioned ice cream shop that sells fudge, candies, and some interesting other items such as toys and puppets. The ice cream is good as is the bread pudding and cobbler. Service is always friendly. If you’re lucky enough to be there when the piano is playing, you’ll be transported to an earlier time. We’ve never stopped to play, but it’s nice to know that there’s a large selection of board games to play if we wanted. We never skip this place when we go to Sutter Creek!

This place is amazing. Not only is the ice cream very good, but the aura is fantastic. It feels like you have been taking back to the good olé days. It feels like I’ve been transported to the 50’s! Oh nostalgia! I had dropped by during a Mother Lodge Ragtime Meeting, and it only takes the whole back in time experience even further! You can hear old time ragtime music being played by a skilled pianist, while eating ice cream at the same! It’s truly heaven!

Despite having already wolfed down a baguette with meat and cheese and then washing it down with wine, I stopped into the Sutter Creek Ice Cream Emporium to satisfy my sweet tooth. They are set up like an olde tyme soda fountain combined with a diner and gift shop. The food other customers had on their tables looked tasty, but I settled for a Peanut Butter Cup Malt. It was really good and really rich. I wish the malt flavor had been more prominent, but it was smooth and creamy. I couldn’t finish it all, and I gave it the old college try.

We were in town for my girlfriend’s birthday doing some wine tasting. After some of the best pizza I’ve ever had across the street, I decided that hot fudge sundae would be perfect. Boy, was I ever right? The staff was perfect and friendly, the hot fudge sundae had lots of hot fudge and really hit the spot, and we took some homemade fudge with us. A great little findin this town.

We tried this place today for the first time and we are extremely content! Not only was the ice cream amazing tasting but the service was great as well! We went in a little past the time they normally close, but Katie, the girl working, was extremely welcoming and asked us want we wanted with a smile! Thanks Katie was for the welcoming service and great smile!

A true step back in time. Staff is super friendly and there are a bunch of interesting things lining the store. Cakes, Cookies, and possibly fudge are made from scratch and are good. Ice cream is Crystal brand, and pretty uneventful, but they make up for it by putting a heaping amount of ice cream on your cone/cup.

Popular stop in Sutter Creek, there is an old-fashioned appeal to it with its wooden seating, candy on the shelves, the odd toys for sale and ice cream. Was taking my uncle for a tour around these spots when we decided to drop in. I spotted the old framed newspaper clipping first, it’s up on the wall on the left side if your back is to the ice cream. In big bold letters the framed newspaper states: «MIGHTYATOMICBOMBRIPSJAPS.» Whoa. Didn’t the war end like over 60 years ago? Being of Japanese descent, seeing the word«Jap» makes my blood boil. My uncle, who was born in the internment camps, was not amused. Would they have framed a newspaper with the N-word? The F-word? Heck, any four letter word? I don’t think so. Yet somehow it seems«okay» to leave this up. I found it highly offensive and emailed the owner as well as sent a letter. No response yet. Hope these people get with the times. Meanwhile I’m boycotting this spot until further notice…

Like so many stops in Sutter Creek, the Ice Cream Emporium is a step back in time. It’s the closest thing you’ll find to the fountain shops that were commonplace long before I came around, at least if I were to believe every nostalgic movie about the ‘40s and ‘50s. And, like so many other businesses you’ll find in this area, it’s the atmosphere that draws me in. It could be the knickknacks and memorabilia along the walls, the classic look of the employees, the friendly conversation, the piano in the back, or the little rickety tables. Any and all of these details make this an awesome classic ice cream shop. I’m not going to tell you there is anything amazing about the ice cream or the coffee — both are no better than what you’ll get anywhere else. It’s that infectious small town charm that makes the Emporium great.
