Dined with friends at Sutter Hotel Restaurant last evening. Food tasty but quite pricey for very sparse servings. No garnish, nothing extra. Not even bread. Maybe lack of competition in the vicinity allows for price«upticks.» More choices, better options can be found elsewhere in the region. Lucky for us!

Food didn’t taste bad but pretty pricey for very light portions. Probably won’t come back. $ 15 for small appetizer? Lunch salad served in a cup had barely anything in it and chicken pot pie had maybe two bites of chicken. Disappointed.

This only gets two stars because the hotel is beautiful and our waitress tried to make it right. The food is way over priced. The girl at the front desk acted like us asking for a table was an inconvenience to her life. She told us 15 min… We waited 40. Just say 40 min. Why is that hard? We ordered everything at once because we had been waiting 40 min and knew what we wanted. We had to ask twice to get our wine after our Brussels sprouts arrived(they were really good) next we had salads and the dressing on the wedge salad was like mayonnaise with seasoning, so gross. I had to scrape it off add some more blue cheese and make due because they were also short staffed and I didn’t want to wait half an hour for a different salad. Next the salmon… It was just not good… So dry. The waitress tried to get us everything we wanted but the service was painfully slow. Points to the waitress, she tried; points for the Brussels sprouts. The rest was not worth a second try.

We had a great time. We stopped in the bar for some burgers and they were delicious. We had the California burger and the mushroom burger. The side salad came with a good house dressing. Micheal did a nice job serving us. We’ll come back again.

This restaurant has typical hotel food that is overpriced with poor service. I ate at the bar in an attempt to have faster service and avoid the rude, inexperienced waiters in the dining area, but had to endure boisterous patrons. There are much better restaurants that you can find in the county that appreciate their customers and have better atmosphere.

Headed to Hotel Sutter based on the great Unilocal reviews. So happy we did. Phenomenal food and service. Our server Lindsey gave us menu tips that were spot on. We split the grilled cheese hamburger. My wife got the sweet potato fries which were great. We also split the fried brussels sprouts which we couldn’t get enough of. We sat next to the large, open door that abuts the sidewalk. Enjoyed people watching. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Highly recommend.

Ambience: ***** great décor with a touch of old and modern. From the brick walls to the lighting fixtures, it had an elegant rustic feel about the place. Great for casual to romantic. Wine/cocktails: N/A stuck with water. Food: **** Overall the food was spot on and I enjoyed all of it. –House made bread; soft and sweet, and hearty. Crab cakes; were delicious and unique. Had a twist on the original crab cake with a spice or smoke flavor. –Sutter style naan bread; best tasting BBQ sauce I have ever had with artichoke hearts and tomatoes . –Shrimp and grits; best grits I have ever tasted. Creamy buttery and the right amount of thickness. –lemon marscapone berry cake; came highly recommended by our server. I typically don’t care for lemon-anything-dessert, however, it was very light and complimented the dish. The cake had the thickness of a pound cake and the marscapone was Iight and airy. Service: ***** our server was attentive, made great recommendations, kept the water filed and brought appetizers and entrees at the appropriate times. Recommendation: I would eat here again for dinner, it’s a must try

I don’t know why we come here(3rd time), the service has always been poor, today was 11/2hrs, before we got our meal andt was cold. Slow to get water refilled. The prime rib was $ 30 and it was the size and taste of a $ 15 meal. Potatoes stiff as a board etc I wish I could have something positive to say Okay there is the company we had, they are perfect.

Had dinner there last night, Brian was our waiter and we absolutely loved him! Our party of five was there for a very long time and they were on it with the drinks and refilling our water. Awesome food, awesome service, strong drinks and great atmosphere. One of my favorite places for dinner in the county!

We got into Sutter Creek a little late and were looking for something good to eat. We tried the italian place across the street first but they closed the kitchen 30 minutes before their posted closing time, so we walked into the Sutter. Even though it was very crowded they seated us in less than 5 minutes. The place is very nice. Even though it’s a very old building, the interior is classy but not too fancy that you feel out of place in jeans. Let’s just get right to the food though. Even though they offer full dinners, we just wanted burgers, so we offered off the burger menu. I gotta say, this had to be one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten. It was gigantic first off, but the flavor was amazing. My wife and daughter were equally as pleased with their orders, though they had to take half of their portion to go because they are some big burgers. Fantastic. We also ordered a bottle of their house branded wine, which I wasn’t expecting to be anything amazing, but it was very good. Not sure who makes it for them, but we liked it. Dinner was so good my wife and I came back the next night just for drinks and an appetizer. We ordered one of the naan bread appetizers and it also was fantastic. Whoever is running the kitchen really has it together. So I’m giving this place 5 stars. I don’t see how our experience could have been any better. Great place and it will definitely be a regular stop when we come through Sutter Creek.

This place is such a hidden gem! We came to Sutter Creek for the Santa Parade at Christmas time and got lucky enough to get a table here for late lunch. The burgers are insanely good. Very nice waitress. I love the interior of the place. Kinda hipster… exposed brick. Great cocktails too. We will return for sure

if you like brussel sprouts-the starter is for you. so tender and tasty! the garlic aioli is fabulous! well worth every finger licking bite. i also enjoyed their CA burger. the bun was soft and buttery, the avocado was superb, the beef was seasoned to perfection. the staff was friendly and helpful. the portions are large! the hubs and i split the starter plus a burger and were quite satisfied. We sat in their downstairs dining room street side, though they have an upper balcony used at luncheon so it’s a great excuse for another visit.

My husband and I were in lovely Sutter Creek at dinner time and found the Hotel Sutter Restaurant. It was a Friday night and of course busy and full. We didn’t want to wait for a table, so we took a table in the bar area. We ordered the crab cakes which were just delicious: best I ever ate. Not fishy and just yummy! We both ordered the shrimp and crab salad and it was well prepared. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the noise level: if you like to yell over dinner, this place is for you. That is a complete turn off for me. The dining area has no carpets or table cloths and I’m assuming it would be just as loud. Tasty food if you can tolerate the noise level.

Pretty good! Came into the area for a weekday wedding anniversary and, unfortunately, chose a day when most businesses are closed. In other words, we had few dining choices and stumbled into this one. It was good. Hubby had the Prime Rib Dip and I had the Salmon BLT. It does irk me when I ask for something like ranch to go with my fries and they forget. They forgot. Also my fries came cold so I had to send them back but the replacements were excellent. Both entrees were very tasty. The location of the restaurant was nice. Seemed quite clean. It wasn’t «must go back, it was amazing» but it was good enough and we had a lovely meal.

Nope. Just nope. The interior is great and the restaurant itself is beautiful. If only the customer service matched it. We ordered a beer and wine and my boyfriend got the beer right away but it took about 20 minutes to get our wine ONLYAFTER we had reminded our waitress again. Then our food took about 30 minutes even though we had a simple order. Our waitress didn’t seem to care. Our food was good which gives way for the two star rating instead of one.

Parking was a nightmare. Drove around the Main Street twice and finally got a spot at the wrong end of town. Then when we commented to the hostess that sat us she said, «well you know we have 2 public parking lots». Like, how would I know that. There were no signs that we saw. The hotel clerk had to seat us because the hostess was MIA, but once we got settled everything flowed pretty good. The pot pie I had for lunch was good

On a Tuesday evening in Sutter Creek we had limited choices for dinner within walking distance of the Hanford Inn. So we settled on the Hotel Sutter Restaurant. I found the atmosphere was better than my food. I had one of the specials, Osso Buco. The portion was huge and the meat tender and flavorful. However, the sauce on the polenta was very salty. And the vegetables — green beans and carrots — were inedible. They were not even close to al dente. Both DH and I tried a few bites and then left the rest on our plates. DH was happier with his meal of BBQ ribs in a blueberry bourbon sauce. We «might» try this restaurant again. but probably not.

This review is for the bar: Stopped in here to have a drink after touring the area on a hot day. This place gets 1 star for atmosphere and 1 star for service. That’s all I can say for it. They have a cocktail menu featuring well drinks, they served my(just«ok») margarita in a pint glass and failed to ask my husband which Bulleit he would prefer: he would have taken the rye but wasn’t given the option. I can’t say I’m impressed.

This place was beginning to slip six months ago and has now taken a serious nosedive. Prices are higher and food is much worse. The chef has clearly changed, and the mussels are now poor quality and overcooked. Flavors are bland. Service continues to be terrible. Very poor value. The bar is adorable so stick to drinks.

My mom and I stopped into Hotel Sutter Restaurant to grab some lunch and a beer. There were not a lot of places open and this was the only one we could find with beer and food! The place is super cute! We sat at the bar and we were quickly greeted by the bartender. They actually have a decent beer selection for such a tiny place! I ordered my usual, a Lagunitas IPA. We decided to split the club sandwich and it was very very good! The bread was toasted just the right amount and it was piled high with fresh tasting ingredients. The fries were good too! Great little place to stop in for lunch!
