Frozen custard is so much creamier than regular ice cream! The kids love it and it reminds me of back home in Rochester, NY.

i went having high expectations, but the frozen custard tasted exactly like regular ice cream. Nothing special at all about it. There was no custard taste to it at all! What a waste of money.

Woohoo, it’s good. love the chocolate almond! The cones are big and the ingredients taste fresh. A bit pricey for ice cream but worth it. Definitely recommended.

I have a mixed opinion about Abbotts. I truly love their vanilla custard: it’s rich, smooth, creamy, has a wonderful flavor; everything you could ask for. My disappointment is with the other flavors. Their menu has lots of flavors that sound really good, but don’t live up to expectation. They aren’t intense enough to be true: for instance, chocolate doesn’t taste dark enough to be a «real» chocolate; lemon is barely perceptible, etc. The non-vanilla flavors I’ve tried are so light that if you were to close your eyes and eat a random spoonful, you might not recognize what flavor it’s supposed to be.(Not saying they taste bad, just that they’re too light: vanilla with only a dash of the«other» in it.) Having said that, though, their custards are way better than anyone else’s ice creams. It’s hard for me to drive by Abbotts without stopping in for a cone. And the Syracuse location is only open for maybe half the year, so get there while you can!

Yummy! Abbott’s hits the spot(especially when you’re weepy from dropping your son off at SU… but I digress). I ordered a single scoop of chocolate almond in a waffle cone and was handed a whole lotta ice cream in a handmade cone. It was delicious but much of it(and yet not enough of it) went into the trash. The frozen custard was the consistency of soft serve, incredibly creamy with lots of crunch from chunks of roasted almonds. The waffle cone was nice and thick without being too thick, sweet without being too sweet. Just right. My husband had a sundae and it was just beautiful. They have several sundaes to choose from or you can make your own.

We love Abbotts! What’s not to love? The staff is always friendly and smiling. The location is good for seating and enjoy your custard, clean and they even offer water. My favorite? Chocolate Almond!!! Lots of almonds always make me happy. I can go with a sherbet pop, as they are small and light. The chocolate covered banana was not as good as thought it would be. It was rock hard, of course but the banana was not ready and you could taste it. The wheels are to die for. We just love the place and keep going back.

This place has probably the best custard style ice cream I’ve ever had. I am more of a fan of hard ice cream, but if you are craving sweet and cold, this will hit the spot. It is locally owned(sort of) and seasonal. The owner of this particular shop is very sweet and helpful, and didn’t get impatient when I took a hundred hours to make up my mind. It could use a nice decorator, but for a male owned seasonal ice cream shop, it isn’t bad. It also isn’t «charming» so don’t expect a 70’s style cute ice cream parlor. Oh, you can get togo chipwitches(cookies with custard between them) and it’s advised that you do so. Trust me, you’ll regret not having those delicious little things in your freezer.

Folks in Rochester are graced with several Abbotts, but this is the one-and-only in Syracuse. You’d swear it was soft-serve, but it’s scooped and so creamy and smooth. All the frozen custard is made fresh in the shop, along with lots of other old fashioned frozen treats. My favorite is the chocolate, but my grandma swears by the strawberry.
